Good food. Cozy little space. Prices are reasonable. I will be back for a second trip one of these days. Great option when I want to disappear.

This deceptively unassuming hole in the wall a short walk from the World Trade Center, away from all the tourists may just be the best restaurant in the area from the point of view of what you eat. It is cramped, and the bathroom facilities leave so much to be desired as to cost the place a star, and yet… the food, which is authentically Italian, is exquisite. Maybe the best plate of grilled vegetables I have ever had anywhere in the world.

Space is indeed very intimate, well decorated and cozy. The staff was extremely welcoming, warm, and the service was excellent. The chef, Eduardo I believe, was very friendly with us and humbly helped with the wait service when they were short staffed. The food was excellent. I highly recommend the lasagna. A bit on the pricey side but not for the area that the restaurant is in.

Before«artisanal» and«hand crafted» were hijacked by hipsters in Brooklyn, Sole di Capri was in the practice of turning out a small list of carefully selected dishes, accompanied by a short wine list personally chosen by the owner, at reasonable prices in a small, intimate space. You want fancy? Enormous? Go to Eataly. If you’d like to visit a tiny neighborhood restaurant that transports you for a few hours, where you might speak to the people sitting next to you, and where the food is very good, visit Sole di Capri. The owner, Eduardo, went to culinary school in Italy — which is perhaps why this feels like a neighborhood restaurant off a lesser-travelled residential street in a European city. The tables are small and tightly packed — you’ll have to squeeze in — but the intimacy is part of the atmosphere.(Not to be confused with romantic — this isn’t a dark den with candles and silk roses in teetering bud vases.) Like the space itself, the menu is on the small side — but well crafted, and the wine list is short, with reasonably priced offerings. Recently I’ve had the linguine with lobster — a claw so big I could have scared my landlord with it — sweet and tender in a lightly spiced tomato sauce. The octopus starter, in a delicate lemon dressing with fennel. The veal, a generous portion pounded into thinness, with prosciutto. A vegetarian lasagna, which was much more than broccoli in a layer of pasta. Last night, the manicotti. The desserts — a classic tiramisu, and a flourless chocolate cake. A lot of the pastas are homemade. It was all good to very good. Service is pleasant and efficient, but not hurried. Bread for the table with olive oil, the usual trappings. Dinner for two, including appetizers, bottle of wine, dessert, about $ 130. One of my current favorites.

Worst experience ever. Chef/owner is a lunatic. We were three. Two of us ordered an appetizer and pasta, one as a vegan ate ahead and ordered a salad. The chef came to our table and started railing something about salads only in fake half English, accused my friend of flipping the bird to the sweet waitress and when he got up to inquire about the chef’s confusion(because it seemed like the chef thought we all just ordered salads) he started railing at us about how rude WE were and that he may have to ask us to leave. We were already on our way out due to the chef/owners concocted, irate behavior, presumably because if you don’t order three courses each and wine, he will yell and make it inhospitable in a public triad. Avoid at all costs, unless you like pretentious, rustic Italian sadism with a pinch of ass. Like the«Soup Nazi» in pasta land.

This is my second time here and I am extremely disappointed! The first time I came with my husband and the meal was memorable enough for me to recommend and bring 2 friends here today. However, I ordered their special of the day, lasagna with Italian sausage, and it was a disaster! The only reason I’m giving this place a 2 star instead of 1 is because their linguini with shrimp in special lemon sauce is very good. The pasta in the lasagna was so tough, dried, and burnt on top that I can’t even cut through it with a knife. It was definitely not cheesy at all. It looks as if they pre-made it and had it sitting there all day for the pasta to dry up and then warmed it up in the microwave before serving. I’ve had better lasagna at a diner. Not acceptable and extremely disappointing. Will not be coming back again.

I really enjoyed this restaurant a few years ago, but it’s really gone downhill. We arrived at 11:45, but told it doesn’t open until noon — fine. Unilocal says 11:30am opening, but clearly incorrect. We sit down at noon, and told that we could order appetizers(the sous chef prepares) but the main dish wouldn’t be ready till the chef came(chef wouldn’t be in till 12:10pm). Really? So we order the cauliflower appetizer special. The chef does make it at 12:10pm, but still no cauliflower appetizer, what was the point of ordering an appetizer while waiting for the chef if he made it anyways? Got the squid ink pasta — the squid ink really chunky, and too much pasta for the amount of squid ink. But whatever. Our quick lunch turned into a long lunch between waiting for the restaurant to open, and then waiting for the chef to come in after the restaurant opened. The bill comes, and the cauliflower appetizer was $ 10.95. Given that the main dishes range from $ 8.95-$ 13.95, I’m not sure how they felt the appetizer should sit in the middle of main dish price. I expected more in the $ 6 range. And if you’re appetizers are the same price as the main dish, shouldn’t you give us a head’s up? So our cheap meal turned into a not so cheap meal. Then it gets better, it’s cash only, and we gave a quarter to cover the 21 cents due. We never go the 4 cents back. We probably would have left the tip, but I do feel that a restaurant should give the diner the choice of what to leave the tip. If they didn’t charge me for the 21 cents, fine, but I don’t really believe it’s their call to keep my 4 cents. Yes, it’s only 4 cents, but it’s still my 4 cents. And to top this off, she gave us the wrong change on the first try, and I had to point that out to her. This place seems like it should be authentic and cute, and instead it’s just badly run(chef showing up late, wrong change given). If you’re going to be cash only, the person giving the change should at least be able to do math and count money. I won’t be back, and I’m disappointed.

Perfect tiny spot. Pasta was amazing. The service was very, very good. A small gem. I had the Italian sausage and tomato pasta while my friend had the rigatoni Bolognese. Both pasta was cooked to perfection. Has only 4 tiny tables so choose when to go well.

My pasta tour of the city continues. Next up on my list is Sole di Capri. A small, unassuming place here in Tribeca. I started off with a plate of fresh mozzarella and prosciutto. I really loved the mozzarella, it was creamy and milky. The prosciutto could have been cut off better, the outer edges still had some cartilage attached that was impossible to chew off, so I cut those off with my knife. Still, it was fresh and really savory. For pasta I ordered the Linguine with shrimp. It was tossed in this really nice lemon and butter sauce. It really livened up the shrimp, and the linguine was right at al dente with a nice bite to it. For dessert, I had the Limoncello cake, served with a side of whipped cream and raspberry sauce. It was surprisingly light and airy, and also not overly sweet thank God. As always, I ended my night with a warm, frothy cup of Cappuccino.

This was a great place to come for a nice workday lunch escape. For the lunch menu they had a combo with items like soup and salad, and then pastas. I had the Mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula sandwich. It tasted great. Bread was the perfect crispy soft fresh baked tasted, prosciutto was fresh, also tastes out of this world. Only problem with the sandwich was I wanted more. My two friends had I believe pasta di non a. I did not try theirs but they both finished is and said it tasted well. The restaurant is small however has a great feel. Someone mentioned on here it was byob. We had asked and the waiter stated it was not. I so wish it was though. They would also only accept one credit card per table so just an FYI.

This is one of the best Italian places I’ve ever had dinner. I’m a fan of small, friendly restaurants. As an appetizer we ordered the sautéed shrimp with tomato, anchovies and arugula was the best warm salad I’ve ever had. The pasta was a perfect al dente vessel for their tomato sauce with eggplant, tomato and mozzarella.

Hands down my favorite italian place at the moment. Although it’s a tiny restaurant that gets quite busy during peak hours, the food here is great and the atmosphere is super cozy. Not sure why there seems to be mixed reviews on the service… the waiters have always been attentive and accommodating to our needs, whether that’s more bread or water refills, etc. The tomato and mozzarella salad is BOMB. Kind of pricey at $ 16 which is how much a lot of their pasta entrees are, but so worth. The mozzarella is so fresh and this is the only salad I ever order anywhere. That good lol. The pasta dishes are good too, I recommend the goat cheese ravioli. And leave room for dessert! They didn’t have italian cheesecake last time I went, but the tiramisu is delicious. Also, the restaurant is on the more expensive side and we usually spend ~$ 40, not including orders of wine. Overall, love this restaurant. P. S. seriously get the salad.

I’ve past this place several times by my job. I have seen it always busy and since its small that really kept me away. Especially being on a crunch time for lunch I can’t really wait around for a table. But this evening I decided to take the plunge. Boy am I glad I did!!! There are about 6 – 7 tables. I would say no more than 20 people dining at once. The kitchen is open view by the front entrance. You can see how the chef with the limited space creates magic. I saw many take out orders leaving the restaurant. He looked like a one man cooking machine. I ordered the veal raviolis and got 6 raviolis. The entrée servings(dinner) are much smaller than other local Italian establishments near by. That’s my one complaint! Food was so good but not enough. i also ordered the red sangria available both by glass or caraf. It was delicious and flavorful. I am going to visit again sometime soon. Menu had so many choices to pick from. I didn’t try dessert this time but will certainly next time and will update this review. We were served promptly. There were only three tables that were filled including ours and there really wasn’t any wait.

When that pasta craving hits, you want to make it count if you’re going to give in. This spot has never let me down with a big bowl of carbs. I usually order the specials because I have FOMO, and also because they are always really interesting and delicious. There was a linguine with anchovies one time that was spectacular, ravioli over lentils, penne with ground beef, zucchini, and parmesan sauce. So good. All the salads and antipasti are excellent, including a really good beef carpaccio. Cute intimate place, just a few tables. Order up some wine(the house red is quite good) and watch Eddie prepare your meal on a couple of induction burners behind the glass counter. It’s amazing what he can get done in such a small place. Also — THETIRAMISU. So good. Mangia!

A small authentic looking place with small plates, almost without seasoning. We two had different ravioli. Non of them where cooked long enough. Restroom is a adventure for skinny ones. If your not skinny you won’t make it there.

A small place. A bit overpriced. The food was exceedingly average, as was the service. The waiter was extremely stingy with the olive oil. A pretty ho hum experience overall.

This is a very tiny and cozy restaurant. I wouldn’t come here in a large group. I ordered the Tagliatelle Ale Aciughe which had anchovies, garlic, pepperoncini, walnuts, and pecorino cheese. The pasta was really salty from the anchovies, but I like my food on the salty side so that was fine by me. I loved the little pieces of walnuts throughout the pasta, and the pasta had a good bite to it. For $ 14, you get a pretty large bowl. My friend got the Linguine Grotta Bianca(linguine with shrimps in a lemon sauce), and her bowl was even larger than mine. She also enjoyed her linguine. The bread basket was kind of small and dry, but the pastas were great! Service was also fine and our waitress made sure we had everything we needed.

I’ve been here several times with my SO. The food is affordable, and so, so good. Sometimes we just ask for a small plate of their amazing mozzarella to devour(along with the bread). Their specials have all been great, but if nothing strikes your fancy, the lemony linguine with shrimp is always a great choice on the menu. Service is fine. Given how cosy it is(7 tables total of varying sizes), I’d suggest calling ahead to reserve a spot.

The worst place I’ve ever been too. Probably the worst place to exist. DONOTGOHERE! Not even worth 1 Star! My girlfriend and I came here as it had pretty good reviews. It had been hot outside and wanted some thing to eat and drink. We got seated in a tight corner spot and I asked for the restroom, then when I eventually understood the guy was being serious, found it to be located up a spiral staircase behind the counter in the kitchen. weird. how is that allowed?!! I came back and a we ate a couple of bits of bread. We then ordered, We wanted a bottle of wine and then said we will have ‘X’ to share. the guy then became really rude, like really rude and told us to leave. Something I don’t take well too, so we both stormed out shocked and annoyed uttering a few words as we left very loudly. Then the guy came running down the street telling us that the bread wasn’t free. So I threw $ 3 at him and said you need to work on your customer service and told him to F**K OFF with my $ 3.

Not worth one star !!! The service is deplorable and the staff is straight out rude! I was told that only one bread basket per table was the rule and no more is allowed !!! No more allowed ! Really I’m Italian and the food here is not all that, passable but not worth the rude and horrible service /staff Don’t go! Walk over to what’s left of little Italy and spend your money or credit there Also this pathetic place is cash only !!! PASSRUNDONOTGO

The best italalian restaurant, the food is really good, the desserts are homemade and they also very tasty and they always have different specials we all agree is a small place but the attention is very nice and polite. And everything is about the taste of the food not the space. you can also follow them … sole_di_capri Instagram And you can order online Seemless and … excellent italian restaurant
