One of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Stopped by yesterday and never disappoints. Lobster Fra Diavolo was amazing. Fried calamari, clams, salads, cheeses — all spot on. Intimate atmosphere. Really great place and consistently delicious. One of my favorites!

Ecco defines consistency… Numerous visits over the years and I’ve never, EVER had a bad or even average meal here. Last night added to the positive experience. Seated at a table of six we enjoy the service and hospitality of Ecco’s fine staff as well. From the bar to the dining area this cozy restaurant welcomes you. Last night’s selections included — Tomato & Mozzarella(which just melted in your month), Baked Clams, Grilled Calamari and wonderfully tasteful Crab Cakes which is always a highlight — even more so yesterday. Entrée’s included the Dover Sole — perfectly filleted. This Ecco«special» is really a staple here and a must order. The highlight however was the«Prawns Ecco» ordered off the menu. Extra Large Shrimp in a butter sauce. Multiple orders for this dish — extremely satisfying. Shared ice cream plate with after dinner drinks — we left with smiles while looking forward to our next meal here. Bravo

A terrific experience. Ecco was mentioned in a book I just finished and had to try it. Dark, cozy, wonderful service and great food. Loved it and will definitely return. The bar dates back more than a hundred years.

Great old school Italian eatery… very little mistakes. Calamari is Devine, sauce is great… great details on classics. Stay at the bar it’s very entertaining. Old school bartender! She makes it great.

One of the best Italian meals in NY. Pricy but excellent food and equally great service. Walking distance to world trade.

Had the gnocchi con pesto with a Cesar salad as an appetizer. Wow. Some of the best of both I have had. Highly recommended.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Tribecca — I call it my little secret. I’ve been going there 30 yrs since I was a young FX broker in the hood. Have the Chicken Parm. Yes, I know it’s a simple dish but Ecco does it the best(it’s not even on the menu). They also do a great Veal Chop and array of pastas. For an appetizer you must get the Baked Clams(save some bread for dipping). Very convenient w the 2 train at the corner! Enjoy!, JL

Stopped in for a rare lunch date with the hubby and were seating all the way in the back right next to the kitchen and where the waiters stand around talking over our table. The next couple to walk in were almost seated at the round table next to us but they didn’t like it and were promptly seated at a nice booth along the wall. Avoid the fried zucchini, go to nearby Cornerstone Grill on Greenwich for those. They were burnt and flavorless. The linguine with shrimp and mushrooms was good, my husband enjoyed his grilled chicken salad. The star however was the tiramisu with raspberry and cream. Too expensive for the food quality and the worker who continuously coughed over the dining room. Go to Little Park on the corner for these prices.

Who knew that this cozy, romantic and old-fashion Italian restaurant can be found on Chamber Street in Tribeca? Since my brother used to eat here alot, we let him order. Among the outstanding dishes he ordered(which were off-menu) were a large T-bone steak and shrimp francese. The shrimp were jumbo size and pretty delicious. We also had lobster ravioli, papparedelle and linguini and clam sauce. Service was professional and a little more formal, just as you would expect from an old-fashion Italian restaurant. Besides having great food and wine with my family, we had the extra bonus of seeing John Leguizamo dining at the next table!

I can’t say enough good things about Ecco. The food is absolutely delicious. The wine selection is phenomenal. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. This restaurant goes out of its way to make sure you have a great experience. It’s no wonder anytime I’m in the mood for amazing Italian food I end up here. Their calamari Diablo is outrageously good, you’ve never had better I promise you. Because I’m gluten free I get a chicken breast with lots of veggies, it sounds plain but it’s so full of flavor. Their desserts are also to die for if you want to indulge. Everyone I’ve recommended this place to has absolutely loved it and now comes here all the time too. Definitely a NY institution.

Came here mainly because it was the closest place that didn’t have an hour long wait and wow am I glad I did. The food was wonderful. The gnocchi was cooked to perfection as were my friends clams. It’s definitely a pricey place but our bill came to $ 67 for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Worth it because the food and experience were great, but because of the price, I don’t think I’d frequent this place.

The best Italian Restaurant in NYC. I’ve been in so many Italian restaurants, but Ecco by far is the best one. The service is excellent, the staff always willing to provide the best service, the place is very cozy and elegant. However, the food is the main reason I always come back to this place, always so fresh and delicious. I do highly recommend Ecco Restaurant to anyone who loves Italian food. This place not only provide with the best pasta, but there is a very good selection of meat and seafood.

I had a large group of colleagues to take out to dinner and Ecco was an excellent place to introduce them to great food in NYC! The wait staff was friendly and helpful. We were served in a timely manner and that’s tough when you have a group of 20 people. It seemed like it was a breeze for the team at Ecco! The food was presented beautifully which made everyone want to taste their neighbor’s dish! You could smell such wonderful aromas wafting from the kitchen which built up the anticipation. The taste of each entrée met and exceeded all expectations! I look forward to bringing colleagues and friends back to this place in the future!

Started the evening off with attending a technology mixer and was unceremoniously kicked out due to the impending reservations. Wanting to continue our festivities of talking all things tech we asked what’s a nice place to get something to eat and they say Ecco’s. Since I’m in heels walking next door sounded like an absolutely great idea. As we take the 10ft trek we open the door and find ourselves in a quaintly romantic space. At that moment I was relived and quite happy… just as happy as my feet. They were able to quickly seat our party of 4. Within moments the waiter appears with menus, bread, olives, cheese and cured meats. Just as quickly he comes back with the special board. As we take in the goodness on the board we didn’t want to open the menus but kinda had to. It’s an Italian restaurant thru and thru. From pasta to more pasta like dishes to chicken to steak it all looked amazing but I was wooed by the specials. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli with Porcini mushrooms which was simply dee-lish! Apart from the obnoxiously loud dudes sitting behind us the meal was heavenly. So, Ecco in this case means come back and often! c

This place is not cheap but the food and service is good. But here’s the reason I gave this place 1 star. I was in the restroom peeing… lol… and one of the server came out of the toilet. I turned around and saw him about to walk out without washing his hands! He then saw me, walked back to the sink to wash his hands. He washed it for maybe 3 seconds without soup and wiped. Let me repeat that…3 fucking second without soap! ! ! I will never go back. By the way if you esky took your time to look at the place, you’ll notice they use really low lighting. That’s because the décor is ugly and floor tiles are ugly.

Ecco is an excellent place for an intimate conversation and a cozy date. The lighting, soft music and tantalizing cuisine will make your date hunger for more of you. I was pleasantly surprised by the soft and delicate profile of the mozzarella, which came in a very sizeable proportion. Everything I had, from the mozzarella appetizer to the zoopa di pesce and finally the cheesecake, all came in generous and hearty portions. The cheesecake was dense and yet oddly fluffy at the same time! Have a date and need a spot? You have it at Ecco!

Outstanding! The only word to describe Ecco. We were told to go here by close friends that were originally from NYC, having just moved to Texas 2 yrs ago. In fact, they called and made the reservations for us. The atmosphere is very quaint with a very family feel, like you’re everyone’s best friend the moment you walk in, even if it’s your first time there. We were met by the hostess and shown to a cute little booth with a table barely wide enough to hold a plate and glass. But this was the charm about it, that it was that close and you could engage in intimate conversation. We started off with the Lobster Bisque soup and some prosciutto with mozzarella and peppers. Both dishes were wonderful. The bisque was hot and creamy with nice chunks of fresh lobster in it. The prosciutto dish was equally fresh, with some of the freshest mozzarella I’ve ever tasted. For dinner my wife had the Gnocchi Con Pesto while I had the La Famosa Valdostana. All I can say is wow! The veal dish was over the top with a wonderful rich gravy, large slices of mushroom, and a filling that was just wonderful. My wife’s gnocchi was fresh and the pesto sauce was definitely home made. Overall, this place was even more than we expected, with that wonderful Old World feel to it. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the city.

A colleague recommended this place as an old school Italian restaurant. And so it is! I had a very tasty tricolore salad and perfect appetizer portion of the puttanesca. The chianti the waiter recommended was delightful and paired perfectly with our meal. The service was friendly and our waiter told us the specials and brought over a blackboard with the descriptions and prices. I would give this place a 4.5 star. Half a star short of perfection because it’s a tad pricey and the bread was stale. I’d still happily come back.
