I was a little disappointed when I met up with some friends last night for dinner and drinks at Barrio 47. The food is tapas style and portions were not that bad. The guac was great but pork belly tacos were too fatty. I also got the sangria which had too much spice for my taste. The noise level was also a little too high but I think that was from a couple of rowdy frat groups that were drinking there as well. Glad I tried it but not sure I would go back.

Review is for happy hour only. Came here on a low-key Friday evening with some out-of-town friends, and the place was only about half full. Located unassumingly next to a dry cleaners, Barrio 47 is a nice, quiet, intimate space, perfect for a date or low-key happy hour. You can get some pork belly or crispy fish tacos for $ 3 at happy hour, not to mention $ 1 oysters. We were only there for about an hour, but we left very satisfied with all the food, and you can get a $ 7 glass of wine or $ 5 Stella. Can’t complain too much at those prices. Something that seems pretty interesting to me is their large-format dinners, which include either leg of lamb for $ 40 per person, or suckling pig for $ 50 per person. Assuming that comes with sides, I think it’s actually a pretty good deal for a large-format meal, considering other places usually are $ 70+. Service was very quick and friendly, and we were never without drinks or food. Prices for happy hour, as previously mentioned, were very reasonable, and you can feel good ordering a bunch of the specials without racking up too much money. That being said, the dinner prices are a bit more on expensive side in my opinion, and they seem to really push their prix fixe menus. Will definitely be back for happy hour, will have to consider the large-format dinner in the future. You should probably pay a happy hour visit soon too.

Mediocre, small portions. Grossly overpriced. Bad service. Loud. We left after the appetizers came out. Just go elsewhere — you’ll pay the same or less most other restaurants but, unlike here, you can actually have a good meal /night out.

Fun place to go get wine after work. They have pretty good wines too. It’s quite loud and the food is priced high for the portion sizes.

I love coming to Barrio 47 with my girlfriends. We love the environment, the staff provides excellent customer service, the food is delicious and the drinks are awesome!!! I definitely recommend from their food menu the burger and the crispy fish tacos simply because they’re my favorite. For drinks the Hibiscus Mule cocktail is the best! The drinks are strong and refreshing. I LOOOVE this place :)

Great ambiance, delicious food, quick service. Our reservation for a party of 3 was at 7:30PM on a Saturday. Even though one of my friends was 40 minutes late, we were seated soon after he arrived. I liked the ambiance here; it was a very inviting and cozy place to hang out. The food was good too. We ordered a bunch of tapas and I was satisfied with each one. Listed starting from my favorite, we ordered: Burrata, Pork Belly Tacos, Guacamole, Shishito Peppers, Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Fish Tacos, Wild Mushroom Quesadilla. Everything we ordered came out surprisingly quick and was served at the same time, making it tapa tetris trying to fit everything without invading our neighbors space. Although I did like having all the tapas served at once for the variety. We asked for extra chips for the Guacamole and also got that really quick. According to another Unilocaler, they have $ 1 happy hour oysters! Oysters, I will be back for you.

Really enjoyed the food, the drinks(Dark + Stormy and a mango drink). Matthieu and the service was great and too much fun. Will definitely be returning soon. Also, the Tacos and Shishito Peppers are amazing! Must order.

Rating based on big group dining. DON’T COMEHERE! I went here last Friday evening at 6pm for a friend’s birthday dinner of 14 people. Someone else organized the reservation and was told there would be a fixed menu for dinner and that a long table would be reserved. Lie #1: No happy hour. When my friends and I tried to order from the happy hour menu at 6pm, we were told there was no happy hour. Not that happy hour was only served at the bar, just flat out no happy hour(the website says happy hour is Mon-Sat 5:30pm — 7pm. I was there on a Friday at 6pm — that should fall right in the middle of when happy hour is supposed to be ordered. Lie #2: Not necessary to order from dinner menu. Only TWO out of 14 people total did not want to order dinner. The manager said that we have to order from either the $ 30 or $ 45 fixed menu. I said the two of us were not hungry after having come from a very late lunch already, but would be more than glad to order at least $ 30-$ 45 minimum in drinks(since, you know, there’s no happy hour, that wouldn’t be a problem). The rude manager said no. The biggest regret of the night aside from having chosen to come here was not getting the manager’s name. The manager said that if not everyone at the table was ordering dinner, he would give up our table OFFOURTEENPEOPLE! He would make the other 12 people that were dining move/leave. We were essentially muscled into staying because we didn’t want all 14 of us to be kicked out. Lie #3: Separate checks for a small group within the group is possible. LIE! The waiter told us he would be able to give 3 of us a separate collective check apart from the other 11 people. We got the bill and everyone’s orders were lumped together. A waste of an extra 25 minutes by having to write down 14 credit cards with different charges on the back of the receipt. Other downsides: Nothing about the food was outstanding. Nothing to come back for(even if the service was good). Mushroom quesadilla and fish tacos could be had a Dorado Taco near Union square with more flavor for a FRACTION of the price. The medium rare steak was basically rare, had to be sent back. The churros for the table were lacking. 3 churro sticks for 5 people to fight over. There was also a $ 45 cake fee for the cake we brought in. what crap! NEVERORGANIZE A DINNERHERE. I’m never coming back. Not even for their nonexistent happy hour.

Do NOT come here if you want good service for a group dinner, enough food for your table or over-priced drinks that taste like medicine This past Friday for a friend’s birthday dinner — another friend organized a table in the back for 14 people. My friend and I arrived earlier than the rest of the group, and coming from a very late lunch, we wanted to get some logistics with the waiter out of the way. We assumed everyone else but us would be getting dinner, so we asked if the 2 of us could just not order dinner but get drinks(even suggesting so as to not mess up the total, since the group was planning on dining on either a $ 30 or $ 45 pre-fixed meal, that we would order enough drinks to ‘cover’ our tab in that). Everything seemed to be OK, until we soon realized how badly we were being lied to. 1 — the website, sign out front & multiple signs all over the bar note that Barrio 47’s Happy Hour specials are Mon-Sat from 5:30−7pm. Being that I went on a Friday at 6pm, I was elated to know that I made the happy hour price(even though, an $ 11 drink is not really happy hour, but I digress). When I asked the waiter what the specials were again, he said«no happy hour.»…um…what? I asked again, noting all of the signs(even the ones on the table!) and he said(glancing at the manager), there weren’t any happy hour specials. How do you even respond to that? 2 — I can honestly say I’ve never been in a position where I was FORCED to eat dinner. Strange, right? Well, thanks, Barrio 47, for that. Not 10 minutes earlier than this moment, I was told by the waiter that we could just order drinks if we wanted to and that we didn’t have to get the dinner. All of a sudden, now, I’m being told that if my friend and I don’t order dinner, all 14 of us would lose our table. Seriously, who does that? So, bottom line, no matter what we wanted, we were strong-armed into ordering from a pre-fixed menu despite not wanting food for the sake of saving our 12 other friends from losing a table. Ridiculous. 3 — As if the night couldn’t get any worse, the food & bill debacle. Pre-fixed meals with friends are good so you can try different things that the menu offers. In this case, all the people sitting by me essentially ordered the same thing, so you’d think we’d have enough to go around. Except for the fact that WEDIDN’T GETENOUGHFOOD. There were 7 people on our side and when the appetizers of Fish Tacos came out, there were only 6 to share. By the time dessert rolled around, people shifted just to see if the other side of the table was getting enough food. No, they weren’t. Dessert came and 5 people had to divvy up 3 small Churro sticks. The bill was another nightmare. We were initially told we could have separate checks. The bill comes and of course, the tab isn’t separated. NOTHING about this meal or place was great. Had the service been better or the manager even remotely more accommodating or nicer, MAYBE it could have been a tolerable night. By the way, if you order a medium-well steak from Barrio 47, you’ll be forced to eat a very, very raw piece of meat. Could not pay me to come back here.

I had such a great time at this place during their happy hour. Their happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m. and lasts till 7 p.m. They have both drinks and snacks on their happy hour menu. The oysters, which are what I was craving, are $ 1 during their happy hour. Another tip is that on Mondays, they have ½ off on their bottles of wine, which is an awesome deal. Our waiter was incredibly patient and nice and helped us choose the right bottle of wine for us. I chose the riesling, which is usually my favorite choice. We ordered a dozen oysters to share along with the bottle of wine. The oysters were fresh and not at all too small. They were a good size for their $ 1 value. The wine was sooo good and went well with the oysters. I really enjoyed the intimacy of this place and the small tables each have candles on them, which makes the atmosphere romantic yet casual. I would definitely recommend their Monday happy hour and oysters. Apparently they have this thing where you call in and reserve meat, because they have this huge oven where they cook the meat for several days. I would definitely have wanted to try that out if I had known about it before.

More like 3.5. Great ambiance. Cute, dark and moody, perfect spot for a date. We were having a small goodbye dinner for a friend. The portions are a bit small for the price, and some dishes packed a bit more punch than others. The fish tacos were nice but maybe needed a bit of acid. The truffle fries were good, but not«truffly» at all. The guacamole was fine, but small for the price and not spicy as we ordered. The mushroom quesadillas were quite good. The cocktail that I had(with proseco and lillet) was great and very pretty. Our waiter was awesome and we really enjoyed him(Hi Benjamin!). All in all, I would certainly return, but this is more of a cocktail/happy hour place than a dinner spot for me.

A very small wine bar with a cool vibe. They had a limited happy hour but the drinks on the menu were decently priced. The service was great for most of the time we were there e.g. refilling our water glasses and asking if we wanted another glass of wine. There were a couple of strange characters that seemed to know one of the bartenders and were partaking in some smoking that made it uncomfortable to stay. Regardless, I’m sure it was a one off situation and overall, we had a nice time. Great place for a date!

This is not a place to go if you have a group larger than 4, or if you are hungry. The space is more narrow than a train car. Service is nonexistent — waited for over an hour for a longstanding reservation, for which they demanded that we sign a contract! So-called hostess is unprofessional and rude, and the food really wasn’t worth the wait. The uninspired iterations of Mexican food were basically just accompaniments to drinks — not actual dinner: the pre-fixe for 10 people barely included enough for 6 people to share. My friend found a penny(!!!) in her food, and we then overheard the hostess saying«well, I didn’t put it there!» — to our waiter. Some«eager customer» had vomited on the stoop near the entrance before we even sat down, and it still wasn’t cleaned up when we left. Many better choices around, save your dignity, sanity and wallet and go somewhere else.

Tonight we waited 1 hour for our 9:15 reservation for a birthday party of 12. The hostess was not only unhelpful but rude. We finally got seated at 10:15 at a table for 8 even though we were a party of 12…4 of our guests had to go between standing and half-sitting. The food was underwhelming as well… except for the churros which were actually delicious. Once we finally got our food we found a penny in our French fries. Yes, a penny. No one apologized for this and instead just said«wow, you must be lucky». We had this birthday dinner planned for weeks and were incredibly disappointed at the lack of hospitality by all of the staff.

Barrio 47 is a hit — mellow ambiance & great staff with the one of our favorite happy hours in the city. West Village is a cool little area. It’s quaint and adorable and stylish… but boutiquey=pricey. When I found out that Barrio offers a fried fish taco happy hour, I knew I could try this place with my big-eater husband. At $ 3 apiece, my husband easily and happily downed six tacos. It became almost a joke with the waiter every time he ordered another and another… they are delicious! I opted for a plate of fresh oysters and a glass of merlot. Oysters are $ 1 each & quality is o-k. Staff is super friendly, which made our visit to Barrio all that more enjoyable. We will be back!

I came here for a happy hour with my cousin after a interview in my first day in NY. It couldn’t be better! We set at the bar area because there was not any tables available(they don’t have many) the service was very good, he(I don’t remember his name!) was very friendly and was always checking up on us to make sure we were ok. We had oyster an tacos. I ordered the fish tacos and if I knew it was SOGOD I would save space for some more. It was the best I ever had! My cousin had the fish and the shrimp ones and she said the shrimp was even better(I don’t see how that’s possible!) When the check came we thought it was wrong because was a lot cheaper than we were expecting. Considering each one of us had at least 3 drinks plus the food. It was around 20⁄25 for each and I thought it was great! I’m definitely come back!

My wife and I came here quite excited to have brunch. The photos on the Unilocal page looked absolutely incredible and the drinks seemed to be very crafty. We showed up, look a look at the menu and were greatly dissapointed by the lack of a pancake/waffle entrée. No big deal, we adapt. I went with the burger with bacon and parmesan fries and my wife went with the pork belly tacos with a side of home fries. I will start off by saying the tacos were incredible. The parmesan fries and the home fries were awesome. The burger was well put together, but the serving temperature was wrong. I ordered medium rare and got a rare burger. Not a huge deal because the burger actually did taste great, so I didn’t send it back. The service here was excellent and the bathroom was very clean. I’m giving it a 4 star rating because it was a 3 star place with 5 star service and cocktails… oh, their cappucino is also awesome. Would I come back? Probably not. Would I think about this place if someone was asking about brunch in the future, probably not. However, if you’re in the area, it’s a no brainer.

Came here for brunch the other day with my girlfriends. The interior is a bit small, but very swanky and chic. We were seated at the bar, which had these brilliant little hooks under the counter for hanging purses and accessories. I ordered a mimosa and the shakshuka dish with merguez sausage. Mimosa was lovely; I cannot imagine a better great wake-me-up for a Sunday. The shakshuka was recommended by the waitress, and it essentially is baked eggs cooked with caramelized onions, tomatoes, red peppers, burrata cheese and merguez sausage. It was also accompanied with toast. This dish was pretty nice. The eggs were cooked to perfection — just runny enough on the inside so that when it mixed with the tomato broth, it was quite lovely. The toast was a bit dry and bland and didn’t come with butter, so I ended up dipping it into the leftover broth, which made it better(texture of the toast went well with the flavor of the broth). My friends got the eggs benedict with salmon, and they said it was very lovely and filling. At the end, my friends and I all got a free shot compliments of Unilocal!Bartender made this awesome fruity concoction for us. Needless to say, we all left Barrio 47 a little day drunk…

I had an awful experience. I’ve been here a few times and it’s cute but I got a rude awakening by the rude French bartender. Dear French Bartender with the beard, You suck. The drink you made… sucked and you had the audacity to «educate» me and my friend on how to order a drink. You are a bartender and I am a guest. Your job is to do your best to make the guest happy. Your costumer service skills… suck. If a guest doesn’t like your drink, make another one. You are BARTENDER. YOUMAKEDRINKS. That’s it. The rude bartender said, rudely, «if we didn’t recognize an ingredients in a drink, we should have asked.» It does not matter. I have the right to try a drink or a dish even if I don’t recognize the ingredients. It’s called exploring the menu or trying something new. Idiot.
