I went there last night felt I was in Lapa Rio de Janeiro. The owner was supper friendly and was soo open to any conversation. The food is great plus their Capirinhas were slamming. I would recommend anyone who is in the neighborhood stop by and visy this little Brazilian restaurant.

Great vibes. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere is very laid back. It is a small operation so if you need to eat quickly maybe not the place to go.

Owner Leo = phenomenal. We were the only ones in the joint from 7−9pm. Intimate, only four tables and the«bar.» Leo chatted with us and fed us free drinks the whole night. Oh yeah, the food was super good too. So authentic the Brazilian cook didn’t even know English. That’s how you know it’s good.

Came here last night with a group of four. The hospitality, was fantastic. It felt like having a meal with an old friend, or family member. The food was terrific and the drinks were top notch. Officially, a fan and return customer!

Stopped by this place to get some coxinhas to go. Seems like the place wasn’t opened not too long ago so they had some problems with the credit card machine. So the owner actually gave me the coxinha for free just with a promise to come back to the restaurant/bar later. I live in Long Island and it’s not easy to get out there so I haven’t been able to go back and repay the generosity. Oh yeah the coxinhas were amazing. I will stop when I can to try the other foods in the menu.

Savoré cuisine, beautiful hospitality and always an off-the-kids-radar sweet soul, jazz, bossa nova vibe. The most elegant and earthy night of dining I’ve ever had.

Just a review to say that as of today, it’s still open. I live on the block. And last time I was here the caipirinhas were spectacular.

Amazing Brazilian food! Adorable little spot with really friendly people. Recommend the Feijoada entrée and the Liguica Calabreza com Cebola. They have Caipirinhas on special for happy hour every Tuesday. GO. DOIT.

Despite the Brazilian menu and the nice décor, the place had a weird atmosphere, they didn’t have some things from the menu and the waitress barely could explain to us what was going on in the kitchen. The owner(or someone in charge of the place) discussed with her in front of us and I didn’t like his behavior towards the woman. The check was hand written, and they don’t accept cards. They only had one coxinha, and the usual price of 3 coxinhas is U$ 9, but they served one and charged me U$ 5. Not very professional.

This place is a joke. There’s nothing cozy or authentic about it. It’s just very small and not decorated at all — unless you consider hanging flags on the wall and letting everything falls off as typical Brazilian. Well, I’m Brazilian and it doesn’t look like anywhere I would have gone there for dinner. Even the most low key places don’t look like that. The waiters are indeed very friendly, but they started a week ago and it’s clear that no one trained them yet. The owner is so awkward that we felt embarrassed/scared. The menu is full of misspellings, which they clearly don’t care about and prices vary from one menu to the other. Lol. They don’t replace plates between the appetizers and the main dishes unless you ask for it. And the napkins are the same as the table cloths. Haha. What about the food? It was not the worst, but they use way too much oil and spices, to the point that you don’t really feel the taste of the appetizers themselves. And the yuca came with Kraft grated cheese, which we obviously didn’t eat. Also, the moqueca was definitely not like the Brazilian one, although it didn’t taste bad. Anyway, this was the 1st time that Unilocal failed me and I wish I didn’t believe the other reviews here.

The owner is friendly and easy to talk to I recommend cheese bread, yucca stick and especially Moqueca de Fritos do Mar com Pirao de Peixe ou Farofa de Dende. Ask for their Sangria!!!

Leo is the man! The atmosphere is awesome, I feel transported to a sunnier, tropical paradise upon walking through the wooden door and into the warm embrace of samba/jazz(or whatever the music of the evening is), funky lighting, mouth watering aroma of Brazilian eats and staff’s(including Leo of course) good nature. Started with some capirinhas, which were very good(we proceeded to have three more), and then got into dinner. Everything was really good, the standout for me was the Feijoada, it was super delicious. Perfect for a cold winter evening! It is however not a spot for a rushed dinner. Things are all cooked to order and come out one after the other, so don’t go if your in a hurry! 10⁄10 would go again! If you’re thinking about going, stop wasting your time and just go!

Barzinho is a cute Brazilian restaurant in Manhattan’s lower east side that serves traditional Brazilian cuisine. The owner and chef Leo is clearly passionate about his food and often takes time to talk with his patrons. The restaurant itself is small and my friend’s birthday filled the entire restaurant. The décor is very low key, almost slap dash which gives the place the feel of an authentic Brazilian village restaurant. On occasion, Leo will play classic Soul Train videos which may inspire an impromptu Soul Train line. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a low-key non-pretentious evening with friends

We were heading to an show at Pier 36 aka Basketball city last week and was looking for a place close by with good food and drinks(and not your typical LES bar). Very happy I found Barzinho — thanks Unilocal!!! I can see this place being a popular hang out during the World Cup over the summer, it’s intimate, and casual, with a large screen TV. Barzinho has a friendly vibe, the kind that place that transports you to anywhere you want to be — it doesn’t matter where it is, as long as you’re there with the people you want to chill with — plus delicious food and great drinks. It was way after dinner time when we stopped in, there were 2 — 3 other tables with customers enjoying conversations over some after dinner drinks. We relaxed for a few minutes at our table, without anyone noticing our addition to the dining room. Leo then comes by and apologizes, he thought we were his usual Tuesday night cronies — offers us menus and makes us some fantastic caipirinhas. We had the picanha com arroz and pão de queijo. The steak was well seasoned and tender, with well balanced accompaniments. I actually missed the cheese bread at my quick glance of the menu but Leo points them out to me during our chat and we couldn’t help but to stay for some pão de queijo and a carafe of the caipirinhas. The cheese bread was warm, fresh and tasty, I would come back for more any day. Muito obrigada, Leo for a lovely start to our night!

The most amazing food(and such huge portions of entrée) and a truly quaint hole in the wall location. The owner, Leo, is engaging, enthusiastic, and incredibly friendly! This is one of the most authentic Brazilian places I’ve been to in the city, take advantage of this wonderful little secret!

Some of the most legit Brazilian food I’ve had outside of Brazil. I’m fairly sure all food is cooked to order, so I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re in a hurry. The place itself has a casual, friendly vibe. Old episodes of Soul Train were playing on the multiple TVs in the place, and when the DVD stopped the staff changed the soundtrack to old school Brazilian tunes. We ordered the linguiça, pão de queijo(twice!) and stroganoff. All were insanely good, particularly the stroganoff. We’d also tried to order coxinhas and fried bananas but they ran out. I’d say the pão are the best I’ve had In the city(on the larger size, so not the typical frozen ones that come out of the bag) and the linguiça has a similar texture to Brazilian sausage, but it’s spicy, which I didn’t expect. All in all, this place was amazing. I can’t wait to go back and order coxinhas and drink some more awesome caipirinhas.

I really enjoyed my time here at Barzinho, the place is definitely moderately priced. The waiter was extremely friendly and the red lights were a nice complement to the dim background. My girlfriend had a half carafe and it was a inexpensive. However the place was quite small and it could probably not hold more than 20 people at one time. Overall I had a great time at Barzinho and I would definitely come back at night when I want to hangout over a few drinks!
