Okay, I have high standards for my churrascarias. That’s a given. Why was I in Chinatown for Brazilian meats? My bad. Decent in the décor department, but just overall disappointing, not fresh and tasty. I’ll head to TriBeCa for Riodizio’s when I’m serious. When will I learn that there are only so many meals in a lifetime, so each one…

The restaurant was nice looking for a Brazilian fast food and the concept as well. I don’t knbw if it was suitable for the neighborhood and being that it was new the food should have always been very fresh as well as marketable. Now if I would compare the food at this location to its main site I would definitely say the food at Broadway wasn’t as good. Very lacking and stale. The freshest thing was the rice. I have to admit that was good. The food wasn’t that great, so that was the big factor in the closure. Great concept, but much more needed to be done in regards to promoting the place and keeping the food at its best quality. What more to say?

I stumbled across this place when I was taking the bus down broadway in a snow storm. I didn’t see my stop and when I realized I passed it, I got off t o find Mr. skewer & co. What caught my eye was the photos of the big skewers that make me thing«churrascaria… yummy… » LOL So I thought I would go in to see what this place was all about. It was quiet due to the snow. The guy there said they opened 6 weeks ago and that this was the 2nd location(14th street was their first). He said the lunch crowd is really good but the dinner crowd was hard downtown. He said that in a few weeks they should get their liquor license and will serve Brazilian beer. hmmm… He mentioned the food and although Pot Pies are not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of churrascaria, they were pushing those tonight and the cook was telling me how different it was from what I would consider a «traditional» pot pie. So, how was it? it was ok. nothing great. he said the cheese bread was used as a crust. I love the cheese bread, but unfortunately, it was hard and dry. inside, it had corn, carrots, peas, chicken and rice. I’ve never had rice in a pot pie! And on the bottom the dish was lined with eggplant. so, not the creamy type of pot pie I love. was it good? meh. it was ok. chicken was dry. it was more like a stuffing, but I’ve had much better stuffing. I think I’d venture back to try something else. The reviews are mixed on 14th so I’ll wait and read some more. or maybe I’ll wait for the Brazilian Beer to be served.
