Bayard’s Events and Catering

I was here for a industry luncheon. The speaker was pretty good actually, which was night and day from the food. Typical pre-​fixe menu from a catering place. Everyone was given a appetizer salad (there was no choice). For the main course, you could choose chicken or vegetarian. I ordered the chicken obviously. The food, I would rate 2 stars but the venue is very nice. Feels very historical FiDi.

Went to a holiday party here. We had the whole second floor to ourselves and had a great time. The raw bar and carving stations were fantastic. Lamb chops and lobster tails were great.

Classy joint! Someone donated the space to my church for a wine and cheese party and we all had a wonderful time. Beautiful room, wonderful service, great wine.

Bayard’s…arranged the corporate event I’ve recently gone to and was certainly a hit. The place has a grand and affluent feel impression fitting the downtown Wall Street milieu. Need to stopover to the restaurant downstairs in the near future.

This used to be my favorite restaurant and I wish it were still open as such. It had good food, an amazing bar, but the best thing about this restaurant was the atmosphere. The Old India House has the intimate townhouse feel, quaint, elegant, pristine in its old-​worldly fashion. It was like stepping into a different era with such history.
Please re-​open as restaurant.

Great corporate event venue. Especially love their dessert selections making those networking breaks more enjoyable. They should work on improving their wifi infrasturcture — it was super slow that i was better off tethering via my phone.

I wasn’t sure if this was also a restaurant (located above where Harry’s is). Turns out it no longer is open as a restaurant as they specialize in special events and catering.
I went for a luncheon event so can only judge from that.
I was highly impressed. The room we were in was beautifully decorated and the wait staff were friendly, efficient and service was all-​around excellent.
The salad was good, the free range chicken was super moist/​juicy, with lots of meat on it. Needed a bit more flavor but salt certainly helped that. (good sign– they don’t salt their food). Great potato and carrot sides and the chocolate mousse dessert!
Definitely impressive — 5 stars on the décor of the place (very old style– the room we were in) and service. 4 for the food (although we weren’t offered much of a selection at our event so I am sure some dishes are better).

Had one of the best and most memorable meals of my life here. Very classy, subdued atmosphere that is perfect for a date or business dinner.
The food is outstanding… I had the best foie gras ever here.
I highly recommend.

Like others, I am slighly confused if this is fully open to the public or not.
Went on a Thursday. There was a sign outside for live music (summer series). I am «the public» and I was let in. Great drinks, great music, great food. Staff was excellent. The band was fun and friendly to the audience. The ambiance is great. Go, go, go!

A great setting in the middle of the Financial District. Hosted a private company function here in their Garden View Room and it was the perfect choice. The private dining rooms are great and the staff was organized, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make our event a success. Our clients were really happy with the locale AND the budget so I’ll definitely be coming back.

Went here on a delightful date (his idea, not mine, and totally won him lots of points). The small front bar is cozy and excellent for chatting and getting to know someone, and the service is discreet and formal, but not stuffy. Complimentary cheese plate was a nice touch with our delicious drinks.
My date accurately pointed out that it’s reminiscent of an old captain’s room, with nautical accessories in good taste spread throughout.
I’d definitely be back, especially for a more low key night.

Bayard’s Events & Catering (Patrick Vaccariello) [from the 2008 Wine and Food Festival]- robiola cheese pizza w/​white truffle oil — thin crust, how can you go wrong

This place is no longer a restaurant open to the public but it’s a great place to hold a private party. We got married in a private ceremony at the beach in Santa Monica and instead of asking our friends and family from back East to shlep out West, we had a small reception in Malibu and then planned our «east coast wedding celebration» in Manhattan all the way from California. We found Bayard’s on-​line and it turned out to be as amazing as it looked on their website. Gorgeous turn-​of-​the-​century restored building, wonderful food and service. The catering person, Karyn, cooperated with us all along the way — and was really helpful. The ladies’ room here is separated into a few spaces so well-​appointed that one of our guests said the john was bigger than her guest room at home! Very elegant all in all. On a Saturday nite, there was street parking for everybody who persisted, and close-​by parking garage for the unlucky or lazy few. Some of our guests who were long-​time New Yorkers had never been here and were awed. The sign over the front door says «India House» so that confused some of the guests. Check ‘em out at

This place was amazing everytime I went. The food was great, but the more impressive notes were the décor and service. The service was incredibly good and pleasant, the maitre d was incredibly knowledgable with his wines. I had a great little special one of the times, it was baby shrimp with carrots and celery steam cooked in this thin parchment paper-​ish pouch. the seafood is top notch here.
The décor is really out of this world, and the paintings are really exquisite. Its the kind of place to get lost in as well, it was great to take a minute to browse around, the rooms and really take everything in. Its like being in a different time and place, and it was terrific.

I went here for a friend’s graduation party back in May and it was phenomenal. The building is beautiful and the staff is very knowledgeable as far as the history is concerned. We were located in a private room where the staff served the appetizer course on foot. The meal itself was incredible. I had a cut of steak that was the best I’ve ever had. The beer selection of lacking, but it’s not a place you go for beer. Their liquor collection on the other hand was massive. The whiskey menu was also very thorough and satisfying. All in all, this place was amazing. I got a chance to look at an actual menu (our dinner was prix fix) and it was just mouthwatering. I would go back again… if I could afford it.
EDIT: This weekend I received sad news that Bayard’s is now closed. The chef left and the restaurant went under. Harry’s Steak House downstairs is still open and I guess Bayard’s itself is still open for private parties, but the restaurant is gone. Boo!

We chose Bayard’s for the Dining Downtown Week and had a wonderful experience. Excellent food and service, very elegant rooms and reasonably priced wines. We normally wouldn’t have gone downtown but thought it was worth giving it a try for the $ 20.12 special menu. We were very impressed and will be happy to go back at the regular prices.
