An intimate Italian experience with good food, great service, and a wonderful ambiance. I was here for a work lunch and the restaurant catered very well to our large group and the various food allergies that those at the table had. All of the servers knew the menu well and provide good recommendations. Drinks remained full with the attentive service. For lunch, I had the lobster and crab salad. It was exceptional with generous portions of seafood, avocado, and garlic. I’d recommend as an appetizer or as a lunch entrée. Typically, I avoid Italian restaurants due to being gluten free, but Joseph’s provided a comfortable atmosphere and there are enough menu items that are made without gluten to meet the requirements of the diet. If you have a problem with grabbing handfuls of after dinner mints, they have some huge bowls of them waiting for you. Just don’t spoil your lunch or dinner. A positive dining experience with great service.

Classy atmosphere, awesome food. it’s not crowded during lunch time, so good to stop by around 3−5pm. Also good for business meeting . Waiters were(mostly Italian) kindly explained about menus. You can taste authentic Italian food!

Funny that I made to Joseph’s today because I made the wrong turn in the first place. As my boss and I were late on schedule we had to have lunch quickly. So I spotted Joseph’s and decided to give it a try. The service was attentive and on point. We both have burrata caprese special as starter; it have a big ball of creamy burrata, fresh cherry tomato, basil leaf, sun-dried tomato, grilled red pepper, basil sauce and tangy balsamic reduction. The portion was sumptuous and very delicious. I had Linguine alla vongole. Pasta is cooked to al dente and very flavorful. Clams were fresh but a bit sandy. My boss had POLLOSCARPARIELLO, the portion was BIG! 4 pieces of chicken with sauce, mixed carrots and green beans and a big scoop of mash potato! I was a bit worried in the beginning and gradually felt relieved since there were a few other tables of customers in there. Plus my boss was happy with the taste of food and service offered.

Excellent food and service. We went there this past week for a business lunch as this place is quite close to my workplace, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. I ordered the rigatoni in vodka sauce and it was the perfect balance of tomato sauce with cream. My companions also commented that their entrees were delicious. I also had the ice tea which could have been better … Nothing bad but nothing to write home about either. They gave complimentary bruschetta and breadsticks which were just perfect to sop off the amazing pasta sauce. Cozy little setting, attentive staff and a solid option for a nice quiet lunch in the ever crowded financial district. Will definitely go again for the amazing Italian fare.

Big disappointment … I came in at 6pm and just wanted to relax and gave a glass of wine after work — I felt that although I was alone I didn’t understand why I was bring rushed… and then ignored. I had to embarrassingly wave to get the waiter to come give me my check. I ordered the ravioli special and shared with him that it was just«ok» — he made no attempt to make me happy. He was like«ok» — overall disappointment and won’t go back.

Out the gates have to say: Food is a total Knockout! NEVER a disappointment with really anything off the menu. They do a beautiful fish entrée(several types) and chicken is spot on. I am not a huge pasta guy, but people I’ve gone with always love whatever pasta dish they’ve gone for. Fresh and tasty. The staff is very attentive and accommodating with a good sense of humor. Reason for the 4 star — the place seems a bit dated and is basically in the basement of the building. Really shouldn’t be held against them for what they produce, but 4 stars is accurate in my book. Get in and try it out for yourselves!

Went with co workers for lunch. The place was close to empty. The waiter was trying hard to push appetizers etc and we told him we were on our lunch break just wanted an entrée. I had pasta bolognese with peas. It was fair. We all ordered ice tea and it came in small wine glasses. When asked if we wanted a refill we said yes as it was only 2 swallows. We all had 4 glasses of ice tea each. they charge 4.50 for a small glass of tea??? and for each refill. I had 18 $ worth of tea. REally. My entrée was 22 $. Would never go back.

Best rigatoni a la vodka in downtown NYC. Try the chicken scapriella. I mainly order in from here to my home or office. Fast delivery.

Went to Joseph’s on a recommendation from a friend. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. It was very solid good food. The only reason I gave the place three stars was the price. It was a little steep for two pasta dishes and a cocktail. Ambiance: Very low key. Downstairs entrance to a really nice bar and dinning room that is quiet and has a private feel to it. The host was most polite and the bartender/our server also was very pleasant. Food: I had the Bolognese and my girlfriend had the Carbonara. Both dishes were prepared very well and were flavorful and fresh. The pasta was cooked al dente which made the dishes most enjoyable. The portions were large and we both had a little left to take home for a midnight snack. I will return to try another dish as they have a massive menu. I would recommend Joseph’s for solid and tasty Italian fare. The only negative comment I have is at the end of the meal we were met with a bill that was in my opinion a little hefty compared to comparable restaurants.

I used to have my corporate party here in January. We went in the middle of the week in evening. The place was dark and gloomy. One of the people got a beer and asked for a new glass. It came back frosted and with lip stick on it. Although our food rigatoni and vodka sauce was good, the service was strange.

I have lived in the neighborhood for almost 7 years and just ordered from this restaurant for the first time. I decided to give it a chance since it was a week night, they offered a seamless delivery discount and my regular Italian delivery place was closed. The food was flavorful. I ordered the Sicilian chicken, asparagus & grilled chicken over salad. The restaurant called to tell me they ran out of asparagus so happily ended up w broccoli. Everything was great. I would definitely order take out again. Although I was disappointed that the chicken did not come prepared over pasta. It wasnt enough for the price. And the salad was simple — pretty much just lettuce & chicken(again, not enough for the price).

My guest and I enjoyed a business dinner at Joseph’s mid-week and enjoyed the quiet and comfortable setting. We selected both chef specials and off-the-menu selections that were really quite good, combined with a very nice wait-staff that were perfectly attentive but not at all intrusive. As others have mentioned elsewhere, the Vodka Sauce is fantastic… an excellent mix of smooth creaminess and spicy bite set against a hearty pasta. If you’re looking for Italian in lower Manhattan, Joseph’s is a must.

I went to joesphs for a drinks and a quick bite after work. Ramoi the owner was more then welcoming. He had just made homemade lemonchello and sent it to the table for my friends and I. I was at Harry’s the day before and the genral manager was everything but curtious. This is 100 percent my new spot for after work drinks and bites.

Good food, fine service. But there was a really loud phone behind the bar that rang off the hook several times during the evening, and people noticed. You can’t have that, Joseph’s. Please fix it.

Amazing– I only ordered delivery through Seamless– but after 14 minutes(15 – 30 was promised) my doorbell rang to a man in a tuxedo and his cohort who was dressed more in the typical style of delivery guys. I do live exceptionally close by, so perhaps that explains the special tuxedo’d guest, but either way I told him there was no need to get so dressed up just for me :0). Anyway– vodka pasta– appetizer size. fantastic… the first time in years that i’ve ever had a vodka sauce i would bother ordering again. just delicious. perfect salt, perfect pepper, perfect flavor, perfect al dente noodles, perfect portion– i’m just full enough, not needing more. they sent along some delicious, free, unlisted-on-the-order(love that!) bread… perfect for scooping up the delicious sauce, scarpetta-style. also had an insalata tre-colore with house balsamic(white, that always surprises me)…asked nicely via order form for shaved parm. on top and not only was it there-there was tons of it– and for no extra charge, that’s really something special in NYC! the salad had a perfect balance and the house dressing is absolutely fantastic. so much better and different than typical house balsamics. All this for $ 17…can’t beat it! looks like i’m going to have to leave my apartment to go check this one out in person. If the in person experience lives up to delivery, I might have to redo this with 5 stars.

I’ve been feeling like Goldilocks these days. Except instead of trying out porridges and chairs and beds, I’ve been trying every Penne ala Vodka dish in town. Over and over and one by one. None of them had been«just right». I tried so many bland and sucky Penne ala Vodkas in the area that I knew exactly how Goldilocks felt and had almost given up with a loud, «Hmphhh!» I was just about ready to come to terms with the fact that I was living in fantasyland thinking that there was going to be such a thing as a flavorful Penne ala Vodka in the FiDi, South Street Seaport, or Battery Park areas. But then I read the review from Melissa S. on Unilocal and she inspired me to give it one last shot. Joseph’s Ristorante didn’t have Penne ala Vodka on the menu but they did have Rigatoni ala Vodka which is the same dish, different noodle. And they do have penne so I’m certain you can substitute the rigatoni for penne if you so desire. Anyway, OMG it was so good! It had kick to it too. Spicy! It actually woke my taste buds up and had just the oomph I craved. Next time I’m adding a little prosciutto to it. I can hardly wait! So the moral of the story is to be patient and you’ll eventually find the place that is «just right» in the end. This is going to be my new guilty pleasure. Thank you Joseph’s! I’ll live happily ever after from now on. :)

Very good restaurant. Went here for a company Holiday Party and had a blast. Everything is reasonably priced and exceptionally prepared. We sampled a bunch of the appetizers and I got the special(tortellini of some sort, can’t recall specifics) and everything was great — tasted wonderful and homemade. The atmosphere of the place also gives off a very welcoming, old-style Italian restaurant vibe. The service was very helpful and made the visit worthwhile. Definitely would recommend.

I’ve only been here for work lunches, but it’s always been very good and makes you feel like you have dropped back fifty years into something from a Rock Hudson movie, well, if Rock Hudson went to Italian restaurants in his movies. You need to carve out some time for the full lunch, but it’s nice to step away occasionally and do this. Old-school and hearty pasta and finish up with a cappuccino.
