This review is for delivery only. I just wanted a quick snack and ordered the Pao de Queijo off Seamless. It arrived still warm and the cheese was gooey, stretchy, mouthwateringly AMAZING. That first bite was that O.M.G. type of bite, you know what I’m talking about! Will have to check out the restaurant and the rest of their menu but this one item. there’s a reason everyone is raving about them!

Loved it! Came here with a group of 8 for dinner. It was so easy to make a reservation on Open Table and they were really helpful over the phone when I needed to change the time and add more seats. The décor is lovely and definitely sets you in Brazil. They had paintings all around the place– really nice. We started with caipirinhas, most of us ordered passionfruit or mango, and they were delicious. Not too sweet and well balanced. Also ordered the pao de queijo. I’ll echo what everyone else says– this stuff is GOOD. Perfectly soft and cheesy. They kind of remind me of Colombian pandebono but more melty cheese. My Ecuadorian friends says its similar to their pan de yuca. On to the food! Mains ordered were the Feijoada and picanha. The food was absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, the food is well seasoned, and it was just so tasty. The service was great! The staff were so friendly and helpful. They really made it a fabulous dinner. I am DEFINITELY coming back to this spot.

Berimbau Do Brasil possesses this authenticity and humility that many restaurants in New York just throw away down the ‘Gar-Báge.’ Service here was very pleasant, as we always had attentive servers full of smiles. The food is excellent — you’ll just have to come here and taste it for yourselves. The toasted cheese bread puffs are a delicious way to start your meal. Seating is a bit limited — reservations wouldn’t hurt. I hope you will enjoy this restaurant as much as I have.

Probably the best place to eat Brazilian food here in NY. The restaurant is small, but very comfortable … The waiter very nice, friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. I advise you at the end of the meal eat brigadier dessert. I really recommend. :-)

I’m amazed at how relatively not busy they are, considering the great service and delicious Brazilian cuisine they offer. I’ve been there on weekend mornings for brunch, week nights and Sunday evening for dinner, and every time I went, I was able to get seated right away. So queues don’t seem to be a problem here. They serve some fantastic Brazilian cheese bread! It’s a must, along with their caipirinhas. I personally had never been a huge fan of Brazilian food, even after my first visit here. But with each try(my Brazilian cuisine experience has solely been with Berimbau so far), I came to appreciate it. Expect friendly service there; their servers and host are always full of smiles and consistently check up on you. Every one of them speaks Portuguese, too, so it definitely feels very authentic.

Super colorful, vibrant place that really transports you to(what I imagine is) Brazil. Between the beautiful paintings and Brazilian music, you really feel uplifted during your time there. Onto the drinks & food… the passion fruit caipirinha and acai cocktail were killers! So tasty and slightly potent because you can down them in 2 minutes. The chewy cheese puffs are really delicious — the taste is like parmesan and the texture’s like a thicker mochi, so the whole deal is very addictive. The Brazilian sirloin entrée was juicy, and the veggie platter is a great option since you can get an assortment of goodies, like yucca fries, fried plantains, okra, rice and beans. I’ve also been for brunch, and their new acai bowl is huge and the taste unlike the smoothie shops here. Their coffee is bitter and sumptuous in a «welcome to morning!» kind of way. The main downer: the price. Everything is about $ 3-$ 4 too expensive, which means that you can’t actually come here a ton since it’s a bit over the affordable line. However, when you want a refreshingly different kind of meal and experience, this is a fab place to go.

Berimbau do Brasil offers, in this humble critic’s opinion, the finest Brazilian food outside of Brazil. When leaving the tropical paradise, as this critic sadly did so long ago, one might believe to be abandoning several things, including flavorful cuisine. But should one? This restaurant shattered that heart-wrenching belief through the offering of a succulent chicken stroganoff, which served both as a satisfying lunch and delicious reminder of a happy, tropical childhood. Finally a place to eliminate that infamous«saudade»…

Truly authentic brazilian restaurant, highly recommended for those looking for the local vibe. Not the typical churrascaria where you are overwhelmed with a thousand cuts of meat and swarms of people who are rushed in and out. Berimbau is a quiet and quaint restaurant with bright colored décor and brazilian art. Food is delectable and I was so happy to see that they serve all of the dishes that you would not normally find at a touristy, overpacked churrascaria like fogo de chao(stroganoff de frango, moqueca, coxinha, etc.) The wide array of choices for the types of caipirinhas was also impressive. I’d recommend the guava! Unique and delicious. I had not a single complaint about this place and the price wasn’t ridiculous for the portion sizes and quality. Will definitely be coming back.

We are craving for typical Brazilian food! As we made the trip to NYC, we found this restaurant that served Brazilian food. The food is pretty authentic and services is good! We love to come here again! They served pao de queijo, pastel, and etc!!!

Very solid 3.5 star restaurant. I’m tempted to round up but hey it’s the Village and I’m not sure we’d ever actually return to this Brazilian spot even if we were in the neighborhood. It was lunchtime so of course we had the caipirinhas. They were an excellent, if not small, version… We also had the picanha with onions and the skirt steak. Great taste for each, though the portions were small to go along with the smallish prices. We also had the fresh-baked bread which was tasty(my lunch partner loved it) but not enough to carry the meal. My main complaint is that it took too long for the food to come out. If we actually had to get back to work we would have been way more antsy about the 15 — 20 minute wait. Other than that, not bad. Definitely worth a try…

Food is great. $ 14 steak lunch special, what!!! The cheesy bread balls are too die for! It’s slow though. Like, 30 minutes from taking the order to getting the apps out. But I’ll definitely be back.

Glad I ignored Sharebite’s ridiculous 40 – 55 minute estimate for pickup, as the food was already almost cold by the time I arrived after 30 minutes, and after entering through their 3 doors the hostess seemed clueless that they even offered pickup, but the Sanduba Frango Combo $ 12.95 was fine — the sandwich was a big letdown, but the pao and yucca fries were great. Missed the Scoutmob & Unilocal checkin deals.

Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) Lupi(our waiter) is absolutely an awesome guy! Always smiling, gave suggestions when asked, and made sure we were having a great time. 2) The caipirinhas are absolutely amazing! Go for the guava and even tastier during happy hour ;) 3) Great ambience — you really feel like you’re eating in a place that has a passion for Brasil and its cuisine 4) All our appetizers were so delicious! The freshly made to order Pão de Queijo(cheese balls) were unreal and hot out of the oven, but beware they’re super filling. You also can’t go wrong with the tuna tartar. 5) Generous portions! LOVEIT 6) You can make reservations on OpenTable or their website 7) 2 appetizers, 3 drinks(2 happy hour), 2 entrees with 20% tip about $ 120ish for 2 people. 8) Loved the portuguese music in the background Cons: 1) Asked for a medium rare a Fraldinha, but got a bit well-done and a bit over salted. However the dish was still pretty tender and delicious, so I give it a pass 2) This is a matter of preference or maybe it’s the way it should be, but the yucca fries were super crunchy(more like chips rather than fries). Next time i’ll order it as the yuca purée 3) The Moqueca a Balana was a bit too creamy for my tastes, but my date loved it with the rice

Berimbau is a great restaurant and the manager/owner, Lupe is as authentic as it gets. The food is classically delicious with great drinks to boot. Don’t forget to order the Pao de Queijo early. It takes about 20 minutes to make, but is so good once you get it. Highlights on the menu are Camarão Alho e Oleo as an appetizer, which are about six good sized shrimp with a wealth of garlic taste and marinade that makes you like the plate. Then go for the Risoto de Carne Seca, which is perfectly make risotto with a strong meat sauce on top that fills and has a great taste.

I find it baffling — astounding! — that a restaurant as fantastic as Berimbau remains so under the radar in NYC. Yet, perhaps this is not so surprising. Even cosmopolitan New Yorkers often tend to think of all-you-can-eat churrasco steak when Brazilian cuisine comes to my mind — a profoundly sad error. There is so much more that Brazil has to offer, and Berimbau is simply the best place to experience it in NYC. Staple dishes you MUST try: — pão de queijo(cheese bread — order early!) — feijoada(black beans/pork stew w/rice) — moqueca(savory fish/coconut milk/palm oil stew) — caipirinhas(classic is great, but many other excellent flavors on offer) — brigadeiros(dessert: rich balls of chocolate with sprinkles) Honorable mentions: — empanadas(light and tasty. the cheese one is delicious) — carne asada com polenta(tasty polenta and dried beef — superb brunch dish) — crepes de tapioca(delicious and healthy crepes made from yuca — elevated street food) — chicken strogonoff(delicious savory sauce and thinly sliced potato) The food is quite impressive on its own, but the dining experience is really enhanced by the cozy ambiance created by Berimbau’s super kind staff, colorful décor, open kitchen, and relaxing music. There is usually a large contingent of expat Brazilians eating here, which also tells me Berimbau must really be doing something right. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Perfection.

I aka the Skinny fat bastard went to Berimbau do Brasil in the West Village. I recommend! Expect to spend about $ 20 – 30 per person. (From my pics) Yellow food– Strogonoff de Frango: Seasoned strips of Chicken breast, fresh cream, tomatoes and mushroom, rice, potato sticks. very good! Meat is Costelinha De Porco Com Feijao Tropeiro– roasted pork ribs with barbecue sauce, served with white rice and traditional feijao tropeiro(country beans) Country beans are good and cooked in a different way than what you’re used to. Worth a try. Pao de queijo — Brazilian cheesebread delish! Dessert was really good can’t remember the name, but very chocolatey and rich! This place is good for a date and strolling around the west village.

I’m so excited about discovering this place. Located in West Village and on the more expensive side, but the food is worth it. I’ve been here once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times the staff was really nice and accommodating. The restaurant is quite small, so if you have a large group during dinner, I suggest you make a reservation. I was able to make a reservation for 8 people a few days in advance via OpenTable. It wasn’t crowded at all though, so we probably didn’t even need the reservation. Dinner: Pão de queijo — This was the main reason why I came here. I heard about how good these cheese puffs were and they were as chewy and delicious as described. They’re similar to puffy little mochi with cheese baked into it. They are baked fresh as you order and take about 15 min. to come out, so order these first before choosing anything else on the menu. Yucca fries — I love Yucca fries better than french fries now. These were crispy and really good, but came in a really small basket. Calabresa Acebolada — These were sweet sausages pan-fried in butter and onions. Compared to the rest of the food, not as interesting, but the sausages made for a good appetizer. Mocqueca a Baiana — The seafood stew was delicious and my favorite entrée of the night. It was full of shrimp, calamari, and Mahi Mahi. The coconut stew was delicious especially ladled over the garlic rice. The dish is large, so it’s shareable with others Strogonoff de Frango — This dish was really creamy, so I wasn’t a big fan. Strogonoff makes me think it’ll be some kind of pasta, but it’s actually covered in potato sticks Costelinha de Porco — I didn’t try the ribs, but I loved the feijao tropeiro(country beans) that came with it. It was some kind of mix of beans, egg, and other things I can’t identify. I would have loved to have this as a side if it were available on the menu. Lunch: Fraldinha berimbau — This was grilled skirt steak served with mushroom sauce, yucca fries and sautéed collard greens. Someone recommended me to come here because their skirt steak is apparently the best. I’m not a steak person, so I can’t tell if it’s the best, but I enjoyed it very much. I asked for medium rare and they didn’t overcook it. The steak was juicy and made even better with the mushroom sauce. Churrasquinho — I only had a small cube of this, but it was as good as the Fraldinha. I did like the Fraldinha better because that came with yucca fries and this came with cilantro rice. The portion size for this dish also seemed smaller than the Fraldinha even though both are $ 13.95. It seems like a lot of regulars come here. I’ll definitely be back again, especially for the pão de queijo and yucca fries.

Pao de queixo, pao de queixo and more pao de queixo! It’s freakin amazing! People just come here only for their Pao de queixo(cheese bread). The restaurant is nice and the food superb. Came here for brunch and the trout dish was delicious. I expected more from their picanha that my girlfriend ordered, but it was ok. It was plenty of food so I couldn’t get the coixinha de galinha. Next time for sure! And more Pao de queixo…

Tavam demais! A porção é grande! Adorei e voltarei mais vezes!

Tiny but cozy and comfy, this place offers great great service and yummy, rich, flavorful food. The cocktails(Brazilian mojito, Brazilian and boss’s nova) we tried were really nothing to write home about but they do have a decent wine selection as well. The shrimp stroganoff had thick, rich and delicious sauce which was contrasted by the great texture of the crispy string fires. However, the shrimp was definitely overdone and a bit dry despite the creamy goodness of the sauce. I liked the filet mignon version better actually which had mushrooms that gave it more earthy taste. The skirt steak was definitely the highlight of the night– perfect medium rare, tender and juicy. The yuca fried were perfectly crispy as well. I also tried the sirloin which was also perfectly prepared and paired with rice and beans. I think all in all the food was really delicious… maybe a bit too rich and too salty(my cholesterol is definitely higher) but absolutely delicious
