I went to Big Daddy’s with my family about a week ago and was extremely satisfied with the entire experience. The food was absolutely delicious and our waiter Alonzo was exceptional. He was extremely friendly and helpful and we’ll defiantly will be back again.

I brought out of town guests(including a 4 year old) last week. I kept raving about the restaurant and all the options on the menu. Although the server was sweet and helpful, he wasn’t very accommodating of the child… which was the main reason we came(I told my family it was a great place for kids to dine). The server didn’t bring a place-mat or crayons for the child, we had to ask. The iced tea I ordered tasted like water, and in fact was watered down. My replacement drink(Dr Pepper) was flat. The food was served room temperature, and seemed like it had been sitting out a while before being delivered to our table. The milk shakes were so watery and the consistency was so thin, it was practically just«flavored milk». I felt embarrassed for recommending Big Daddy’s to my guests.

I’ll be very honest. I wasn’t impressed. The setting is nice, it’s cool. I like the way it looks all 80s or 50s… Whatever. But the tables were quite wobbly. My friend was sitting towards the window and he was freezing cold, does heat not reach all over? The customer service was good, he was pretty attentive. Greeted us, gave us our menus, gave us 5 – 10 mins and constantly refilled our water. The food. Sucks ass. Excuse my language but it was bad. I didn’t like the bread of my burger. It taste so weird! My burger had Mac and cheese and that was just terrible. After eating I felt like I had to throw up. Their shake was delicious. If I ever go back itd be JUST for dessert.

One of my favorite places to eat in the city. Their food is every bit as delicious as it is terrible for you, but that’s not a problem for me. I’ll put it this way: this place is so good that there was a children’s birthday party at the table next to me and I still left happy. And we’re talking like 15 crappy, snooty upper west side kids. One caveat though is that they seem to skimp on their to-go portions, so dine in if you can.

Big Daddy’s is a chain and I am wary about chains(unless it comes down to Shake Shack of course). I didn’t really want to go here but my friend brought me along. It really was not that bad. The service was pretty good and our waiter was very friendly. I ordered the Family Affair salad(Chopped crispy romaine, goat cheese, red tomatoes, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, beets, chick peas, roasted red peppers & cucumbers tossed with daddy’s vinaigrette) and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really big which was nice and it was really tasty. It wasn’t overdressed either or drenched in really oily salad dressing. Good place if you’re with picky eaters or children. The inside is decorated with the theme of the decades. It is very colorful. A really good place for family and very kid friendly. The menu has lots of simple options like fries and burgers as well.

The only reason I gave this 2 stars was because the burger was pretty good. I ordered the«dude burger». Great burger, horrible fries. I asked for bacon on the side and received bacon with a side of aluminum foil in it. It didn’t help that the guy who brought the food gave us attitude. The service sucks completely. Also do not bother ordering fountain drinks as they sucks as well. Who the hell charges $ 3.25 for a damn ginger ale? This place smh

Can’t go wrong with the burgers, they aren’t afraid to make it rare if that how you like it. Now for Milkshakes. All I can say is WOW! The Cookie Monster is the best! And I will say the Creamsicle rates second best! I can’t wait to come back.

This place has good pancakes and tater tots and that’s pretty much it. I ordered chicken tenders which were disgusting and very salty. They also tasted like they’ve been in the freezer since 1991. The barbecue sauce was chunky and had a weird after taste. Their food is definitely overpriced for what it is. If you want to eat here MAKESUREITSBREAKFASTANDNOTHINGELSE.

Big portions, good food. The kitsch loses appeal in about a minute. Its just a fun diner, playing dress up. I nearly gagged when they charged $ 10 for a plain kids hot dog with some fries… really. Keep it for the kids at heart, it is a waste of money for actual kids which is misleading with all the bells and whistles for kids.

I do not know why this place has 3 stars, but whatever that doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been coming to Big Daddy’s for years now and it just gets better every time. I absolutely love the food, the service, the portions are huge and the place is so cool it’s decorated with a 70’s theme with cartoons and famous stuff from the past! Even the music is from the 70’s and 80’s! Going to Big Daddy’s is an experience. Everything is absolutely amazing!!! So don’t pay attention to bad reviews about this place. Go for yourself and you won’t regret it. Love it!!! One of my favorite restaurants for breakfast and lunch.

If you are looking for a place to get a large plate of something(especially burgers, shakes, and tater tots) from early morning to really late evening, in more of a diner setting, then you need to head over to Big Daddy’s. Don’t expect a high quality service from your waiter(it was pretty bad), but the food is good. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

I came here Saturday afternoon with my bf, his friend, and his pitbull. We opted to be seated on the patio, and were greeted after a few minutes by our server. The bottomless brunch option on the menu immediately caught our eye, so we placed an order for our drinks first, along with ice water for the hot summer afternoon. Though we were the only patrons dining outside mid-afternoon, it took almost 10 minutes for our server to bring us back our drinks. No one offered any water for our dog, though not expected but definitely a common courtesy for dining establishments that allow pets. The boys ordered burgers, and I chose a 3item omelette with avocado, pepperjack cheese, and canadian bacon. When our food arrived, we were not offered any condiments, even though there was none table-side. I took one bite of my omelette, and immediately noticed that there was no bacon inside. To give the chef the benefit of the doubt, I cut the omelette in half, and examined the middle for any bacon. Nothing. I waited a few minutes until I caught the attention of our server inside. I mentioned that one of the items from my omelette was missing, and asked if he could just bring some bacon on the side. He agreed, and also promised that he would return with another round of our bottomless drinks. After 10 minutes, he brought the bacon, but no drinks or water. We had to remind him again of our request. While we waited, I began eating my food, and noticed that the cheese inside was swiss, not jalapeño jack as I had ordered. Since our server had still not returned with our beverages, I went inside to the restaurant to locate him. I mentioned that two out of the three items in my omelette were not correct, and he offered to remove the item from my bill. He mentioned that I could choose another item from the menu, which he would comp for my inconvenience. I appreciated this gesture, since I had already wasted half an hour initially waiting for my order, and then waiting again for the bacon, while both my bf and friend had almost finished their food. I selected a burger this time, and went back to the patio to wait, still without a refill. 20 minutes passed, and my food still had not arrived. Since it was mid afternoon, I was fairly surprised at how slow the service was, especially since we were still the only patrons seated on the patio. In spite of this, our server had only checked on us once, and seemed to only be able to remember one request at a time. I went inside again, and asked if my food was ready. It had been sitting on the counter the whole time. Since we still had not received our refills, we asked to settle the tab and decided to end the afternoon early. When the bill arrived, I was surprised to see that although the omelette had been removed from the order, the burger I was supposedly comped was still listed. I went inside the restaurant for a third time, and asked for a manager. I met Nelly, and explained to her that aside from two of the three items in my omelette being incorrect, we had received extremely slow service, no beverage refills, condiments, and now, an incorrect bill. She stared at me as if I had the intelligence of a french fry. «What’s wrong with your bill?», she asked, with an extremely condescending tone. I patiently explained to her that our server had offered to comp me a burger due to my inconvenience. «But you ate your food,» she said, with a blank stare. I was confused. I had taken two bites out of my omelette — one when I realized that there was no canadian bacon, and one when I realized the cheese was not jalapeño jack, as ordered. I had eaten less than half my burger, with the remainder still on the plate. I explained to her that I hadn’t. «Well, you’re a liar. The breakfast plate that was brought back from the patio had been eaten». How would I have known that the items in my omelette were missing and incorrect if I hadn’t taken a bite? And what kind of ‘manager’ calls a paying customer a ‘liar’? Aside from being extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, her tone and approach to dealing with the situation by resorting to name calling was very immature and distasteful. I asked to speak to another manager. «I’m the manager and you’re not getting your burger comped», she snaps at me. I was appalled by her attitude. Fortunately, another manager overheard a bit of our conversation and asked what was going on. I explained the whole ordeal, and she completely understood my frustration. Not only had we wasted an entire afternoon on slow service for food that was not ordered correctly, we were told one thing by our server and then accused of being a liar by a manager when I had relayed my story to her. I was so startled that an individual in management, working in an industry relying heavily on customer satisfaction would resort to name calling and accusations. Such treatment is reason alone why you should never dine at Big Daddy’s as long as Nelly is the manager.

Basic diner fare. reasonably good burgers. would normally warrant 3 – 4 stars. Just left without paying my bill. A first for me. Arrived at 6:15pm on Saturday. Sat outside at my table for ten minutes. Watched two tables of three sit down after me, and get a server and drinks before my server made it to me. Ordered a water, a root beer float and a burger. Sat 20 more minutes and saw the other two tables get their drinks and food BEFORE I even got a water. In fact, I never got a water or anything I ordered. So I left. Sorry. This is entirely the management’s fault. It’s easy to blame the servers, but they are not the reason this place is so understaffed. They are not the reason the servers are so poorly trained that they don’t know to bring out waters before they take an order or to go to more than one table and take multiple orders at once. THISISENTIRELYTHEMANAGEMENT’S FAILURE. Honestly, if I just had something to quench my thirst, I would have stayed longer.

A fun place if you’re a displaced suburban kid who just needs to sit in a large, clean, AC’d diner and chow down on some old-fashioned, diabetes-inducing food. I was walking down Broadway when the flashing lights, colorful décor, and huge floor space caught my eye. We go in, a good number of patrons but still plenty of room. We’re seated in cushy diner seats, get a clean, unwrinkled, laminated menu with the usual fare — burgers, hot dogs, breakfast 24/7, shakes. I would say that this is about 20% pricier than at a «real» diner, but I guess someone(the customer) has to pay the Manhattan rent. The food was pretty good! We got the oft-cited tater tots covered in that salty, plastic cheese that just brings you back to childhood. We also got the buffalo chicken tenders — good portion sizes, not overcooked, and a nice buffalo sauce that is a bit less vinegar-y than is typical. Finally, we got a the burger 102 — pretty classic, can’t mess that up. Service was a bit slow but very friendly. Some upsell, but nothing we couldn’t politely but firmly swat away. The music — amazing! I heard no less than 3 ‘80s Madonna hits :) No, this is not a gourmet Michelin restaurant nor some hole-in-the-wall authentic find. It is also not a trendy farm-to-table establishment. It is a place that is purposefully invokes your pre-Manhattan life — «boring», safe, clean, establishments that used to make you want to move to Manhattan. Now that you’re here, sometimes you just need a slice of home and this place hit the spot for me.

I stopped in with a burger with a friend. It seems like a great place for kids but as an adult it was a bit off putting, there was a smell of fried food and syrup in the air. As we went for lunch were were able to get a beer with our burger for $ 3, quite reasonable. It seems like they have quite a few deals which will definitely get me back in the future. I went with the grand daddy medium rare and was happy to see it come out with a nice pink center. The burger was a very good size piled with a ton of bacon and gooey melted cheese. It also had a handful of tater tots and was a mouthful to eat. I didn’t need any condiments for it, the beef and bacon both had a ton of flavor. Overall I though it was a great burger, one worth coming back for. I had tots for my side and they were cooked well, a lot of time they’re overcooked to where they’re crunch but that wasn’t the case here. Anyway I would say Big Daddys is worth checking out if you want a burger and beer. I look forward to trying their breakfast and some of their other burger varieties.

The bright shining lights and that old school diner vibe sure threw me for a loop. For so many years, I wanted to go. Upon finally entering, it was almost too much! I went there for dinner with the Beau, his little bro, and his mama, as we were in the mood for burgers. We decided to give this place a go instead of going to their usual neighborhood haunts, such as Toast or Metro Diner. Eh, why not, right? The façade such is captivating. Once I walked in, it was almost a little too claustrophobic with the knick-knacks on the shelves and the walls. The menus were huge, both content-wise and physically, with clever names for many of their menu items. Sometimes, that is a pet peeve of mine. I feel awkward ordering items such as «Rappers Delight, A Hip Hop, Hippie To the Hippie». Seriously… can’t I just order the turkey wrap without asking for… THAT? Heh. Goodness! Too much! Everyone else at the table just got cheeseburgers and bacon cheeseburgers; I snagged a bite or two of the beau’s and it was pretty good! The caramelized onions and special sauce really added a nice flavor to the burger, and I loved the crisp green lettuce. As for myself, I wasn’t too hungry, so I figured a small bowl of their mac & cheese would tide me over. Said mac & cheese looked better than it tasted, coming out in a long white bowl with a browned crushed cracker topping and chopped parsley. When all was said and done, it was basically elbow macaroni cooked in a flavorless white sauce. Adding salt to it merely made it salty white sauce. I was so disappointed. Also, the French fries came out cold for everyone, and, mind you, our food came out about ten minutes after we ordered. I was surprised with the quickness, but the food did not seem«made to order». I definitely can not say I was sold on dinner there, as the food was wholly mediocre, and the service was genial but passive. Still, I have heard pretty good things about their brunch from a bunch of my friends! Once I get over this so-so dining experience, perhaps it’ll be time to give them another chance. Maybe they can wow me with banana chocolate pancakes and mimosas. Hmmmm…

Heard about this place so wanted to check it out for myself. Decided to go there for a Family Valentine’s Day Lunch while in the city. I called weeks prior as I was told reservations were highly recommended. When we arrived, 15mins before our reservations, we were immediately greeted and seated. The place wasn’t overly crowded — perhaps as it was snowing and Vday. Within 5 minutes or so of being seated, our waitress, Hailey arrived. She introduced herself, welcomed us and took our drink order. 10 minutes later, we were placing our lunch order. Hubby had the Daddy O burger and the Bacon Milky Way(chocolate shake with salted caramel and crispy bacon), I had the Grand Daddy Burger and the Key Lime Pie Milkshake and our little guy had the Chicken & Waffles(white & dark meat) with the Frozen Hot Chocolate Milkshake. I didn’t finish my Key Lime Pie shake as it was too tart for my liking. Our burgers were VERY juicy and filling. I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day! Our little guy would have eaten all of his chicken if I didn’t fear him busting! The portions were huge! His chicken was VERY tasty. It’s a 70’s &80’s themed establishment with a cool soundtrack. The décor did not disappoint! From the neon colors to the vintage lunch boxes along the walls! It’s a cute place for kids and for the kid in you! I’m not giving 5 stars as the menu is very pricey. For the 3 of us, our bill was over $ 75! Regardless, I will return. I might check out their Gramercy location next.

This. Place. Is. Phenomenal! Went for lunch not knowing what to expect but it was hands down worth the five stars I’m giving them. Fairly empty in there which I thought was unusual for the popularity this place gets but we were seated right away and our waitress was super friendly. The menu is jam packed with some healthy and not so healthy options on every page. I obviously decided to go with the not so healthy which was a great choice. If you go, please try the Bow Wow Wow which is a waffle sandwich with eggs, cheese, and bacon(I asked for turkey bacon). We also opted for the Boozy Brunch which is unlimited Mimosas, Screwdrivers, or bloody Mary’s at $ 15 for 2hrs. If you have room in your stomach, get the milkshake too which will probably put you over the top. Nonetheless this place has a great family atmosphere at a great price. You won’t be disappointed!

So always a good time when I come here. I came for their boozy brunch and was able to sit outside. However, it is overpriced! There are plenty of spots in the city where you can get unlimited mimosas for much much cheaper. You have to pay an extra $ 15 for the unlimited(but you do have the option to get screwdrivers-maybe that’s why the price is hiked up). I got one of the chicken sandwiches– it was good and there was a good amount of food! My boyfriend had the pancake milkshake-it was really yummy! Definitely a gluttonous win! Something a little concerning happened to another table. A girl went to open the ketchup and it exploded everywhere(a lot of it on to a man at another table) yikes! All I kept thinking was bacteria multiplying in that bottle. Good thing we didn’t have the problem but like I said slightly concerning. The inside has booths and you get a cool diner feel. In general it’s nice for every once in awhile and good if you want a shake but definitely won’t be my go to brunch place.

Well, so-so! My 7 step son loved the deco but was not crazy about the hot dog too. The bread was toasted and too crunchy. My husband had a decent burger. My salad was not really good. not fresh. Anyway, a 3 stars for the deco and the French fries. But defenetely not Going back! Sorry not a keeper for us!
