Giovanni is a blonde’s secret weapon! He saved my platinum hair which was so damaged from previous and not as knowledgeable colorists. After a few appointments he was able to breath life back back into my color as well as save the integrity of my hair. If I had not found Giovanni, I would not look like the happy vibrant blonde who consistently gets asked «who does your color? Can you give me his number?» Quite simply… he is brilliant with color!

I feel fortunate that I found Giovanni… I am particular about my hair and I have to always be up on whatever trend is coming next — Giovanni is one of those rare professionals who is great at both cut *and* color, and he knows how to work them together for best effect. My opinion: he is especially talented with blondes. I half jokingly call him my personal Blonde Factory. If you’re surfing around here reading reviews, that means you don’t have a go-​to great hair guy yet. And therefore you need to just call Gio for a ‘test drive’ appointment, lol.

Giovanni is the best hair stylist I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. And take this from a guy who went to 8 different people when first moving to New York b/​c I was never satisfied with the job done.
I finally found Giovanni about two years into my time in NYC and have been going to him religiously ever since. I refuse to get my haircut anywhere else and will travel back to New York regardless of where I am to do so. I’ve gotten one haircut outside of Giovanni in the past 6 years and boy was it a mistake.
Before going to G I always had short to medium length hair. Based on his recommendation, I decided to try growing my hair out and am continuing to grow it even longer now. With Giovanni’s careful craftmanship, I’ve NEVER had an awkward stage despite growing my hair from short to medium to long. Which I know seems almost impossible, but he finds a way.
At this point, I don’t even go in telling G what to do. I more so ask what he thinks I should do. Because I’ve gotten so many compliments and am so happy with the results since taking his advice.
I cannot recommend Giovanni enough, especially if you have interest in growing your hair and/​or beard out. He’s an expert on that for sure. He also just happens to be an incredibly genuine, funny, trustworthy, amazing friend and confidant on top of being the best hair stylist I’ve ever known.
Go to G. It’ll be the best decision you ever made for your hair. Without question.

Followed Giovanni from previous digs. The whole staff at Carlo Marco is friendly and professional and of course, the atmosphere is great too! Giovanni, a superb master colorist and stylist, ensures that his clients look and feel like a million– ok — billion dollars when leaving the salon! Sometimes we go for very classic and sometimes a bit funky but always fitting the face and age as well keeping career status in mind. What more could a client want!!!

Recently started going to Carlo Marco Studio when Giovanni joined their staff. I’d followed him from his previous location and will follow him again if I have to! Though he specializes in color, he has always given GREAT men’s haircuts. I’ve only ever gotten a cut, but I’ve seen the outcome on some of the ladies that have gone to him for a color job, and I mus say, they all always looked pretty amazing. The staff that I’ve met are fantastic as well, very professional yet friendly. Facilities are clean and well kept. Appointments are so well run, I rarely a long wait to get seen.
I’d give more than five stars if it were possible! Highly recommend this place, particularly Giovanni for sure!

Carlo Marco Studio is the nicest salon I have ever been to. You feel at home the second you walk through the doors! Giovanni is my hair dresser of choice, he does amazing work that always leaves me beyond ecstatic! He is very meticulous and thorough making sure every hair, and I mean every hair is cut properly. It is truely a pleasure to be worked on by a master of their craft such as Giovanni. I will definetly keep coming back. Also Saturdays are signature cocktail days at the salon which is always a nice treat.

So after reading the multiple reviews, I couldn’t disagree more with anyone who had a bad service here. If you don’t know what you want done, you can’t write a bad review to compensate your lack of self awareness. Know your terminology and know what you want done.
I’ve been coming here for years now! My hair always looks great! Its been colored by Ai, styled by Robert, And all of the above by Carlo and Marco. They all are very talented individuals. I’ve never had a single issue, and even if I did, they would fix it for FREE. Don’t let the misleading reviews keep you from coming in. They are wonderful, fun, and so skilled!

Seriously the best Salon in NYC. I have been going to Marcos for about 20 years. I took a break for a while because I moved out of Manhattan. Now that I’m back my hair never looked or felt better! They only use top of the line products, make the best recommendations for styling and the atmosphere is warm and festive. Marcos not only does my hair but my children’s hair too. He also has been cutting my husbands hair for years. When he’s not available Robert can easily jump in and does an awesome job too. I literally feel like a super model when I leave and I can’t forget to mention the fact that I may have enjoyed a nice glass of wine during my visit and definitely some great conversation. Prices are completely reasonable as far as NYC salons go. I love the fact that I can sit, relax and let the staff at Carlo Marco Studio work there magic without a single concern. Can you tell I’m a little biased?!

I discovered Carlo when I lived in NYC and have been trying to find an equivalent salon closer to where I live in NJ but instead I «commute» for haircut and color every time. These guys know the trends but also listen to you and your lifestyle — a «no maintenance» cut is truly no maintenance, except for managing all of the compliments on style and disappointing your friends (and even some strangers!) that the great color requires trekking to the city. Yes, prices have increased over the years, but the warm feel has also. Try them, you won’t be disappointed!

Marcos has been cutting my hair for more than a decade and he will for the next decade too. The salon is a fun, comfortable to place to be in. The team and customers share stories, laughs and a glass of wine. I love all the competent people there and look forward to getting my hair cut each time.

Beautiful setting, perfect location, cocktail Saturdays and a professional and friendly staff. I have been a client of Carlo for at least 14 years and have labeled him the «Messiah» of hair. I have never left the salon unhappy. Not only is he a extremely talented, he always listens to what style I want and/​or will make a suggestion if I am unsure. My hair color is so gorgeous that I have actually been stopped on the street by strangers asking where I get my hair done!

I followed Robert to Carlo Marco Studio from his previous salon. Robert always does a fantastic job with my hair, and I trust him to subtly suggest the best styles that work with my face. There truly is a «family feeling» to the salon from the moment you call up Doug for an appointment or walk in the door. Highly recommended!

This place is a gem! I have been seeing Robert for hair cuts for 10 years now. Previously I would just skip around to different places for haircuts. Robert does an amazing job and is a pleasure to talk to! Everyone at Carlo Marco Studios is really friendly and Doug who works the front desk is always on point with setting up appointments even if possible squeezing me in last minute when my crazy schedule makes it hard for me to plan in advance.

I have been with Robert some 20 years. I followed him from Mingus… it says something very positive about someone when clients are willing to go wherever he goes. He’s caring and listens as well as offers suggestions. The studio is a great place as the other stylists embrace all customers. It’s always like visiting friends and getting your hair done.

I’ve been Robert’s client for many years. So when he moved to this salon, naturally I followed. It’s always a joy to walk into the salon, the mood is so relaxed and friendly. It really is an ideal neighborhood place.
Needless to say, I love Robert — besides being a great hairdresser, he’s a wonderful person. I have never walked away unhappy with my hair. He gets the color and cut right every time. I don’t have easy hair — curly in spots, straight in spots — Robert’s cut is always perfect and so is the color.

Carlo Marco Studio is one of my favorite places in NYC. Carlo has been my hairdresser for 15 years. A few years in, I wanted to dye my hair for the first time ever, from dark brown to blonde. Carlo worked with me on choosing the right shade and made my transition beautiful, natural looking and painless. 5 years ago, I went for red and oh, how much fun it is to watch the magic happen! I have low lights, high lights and a fabulous cut. For the amount of love, care and fun one has at Carlo Marco Studio, it’s worth every penny!

I have been going to Carlo Marco Studio for nearly 5 years now and could not image going anywhere else! Everyone that works there is incredibly friendly and each and every one of them contribute to making the salon the warm and welcoming environment that it is.
I see Robert when I go there and always look forward to my appointments… and to see what there cocktail of the day will be! Which no matter what the drink is, trust me it is always delicious! Neighbors stop by to say hi as they walk their dogs (they keep dog treats behind the front desk) which makes me love them even more. They have become such a part of their neighborhood that you couldn’t ask for a better experience at a salon in Manhattan where most places are impersonal and you just become another appointment.
Robert knows my personality and hair so well that I am happy to say I walk away with perfection every time! I have dirty blond hair and he has found the ideal color for my highlights to get it to a lighter shade of blond without it actually looking fake and highlighted. It blends so naturally that I seriously don’t think anyone will ever get it this great again!
Safe to say as long as I live in NY you will find me going to Carlo Marco Studio!
Oh and their prices are so reasonable compared to other salons in NY! If you are comparing cost trust me for the personal touch you will get its worth the extra few bucks.

Nice place, nice people, fun cocktails and a convenient subway. Unfortunately, none of this makes up for how irritated I feel after getting a haircut here. I had very long hair, but it had some split ends and was getting heavier than I like. I came in and asked Carlo to take no more than three inches off the length and add some face framing layers.
My hair is now no less than six inches shorter and in a practically blunt long bob. It’s a very nice, even cut, but he ignored everything I asked for. My hair now falls only a couple inches past my shoulders. I think Carlo was even surprised by how short it was when it dried, though I warned him strongly about how much my hair shrinks up.
I’m not thrilled. It will take me six months to regrow those 3 inches. I guess my salon phobia is back.
