YUM! Went for Christmas Eve dinner with the family… it’s now our thing to get Chinese food on Christmas Eve… particularly Peking Duck. This place was PACKED… so make sure you make a reservation. We did, so there was no worry. But the line formed out the door and around.(All for good reason). The Chicken Fried Rice and Peking Duck are all you need in your life. SOGOOD. So juicy, so flavorful. They serve it as a whole deboned duck to your table, then make you these little duck tacquitos lol at your table for you(if you would like). It was just too good. The venue isn’t glam but clean and nice. Nothing to complain about. The service was quick and nice. We will be back next Christmas, thank you so much.

Went just for the duck and what a disappointment. No flavor, served cold, soggy skin. How do you go to NY and find a top rated place for Peking Duck just to get served tasteless duck?

Live right around the corner from this place, so I walk by it on the daily. Usually busy and was super excited to try it out. Last night, on a whim, my husband and I took my mom to grab some food. They told us the wait would be 20 mins. About 15 mins pass, and people finally start clearing out. A table that was seating 4, all of a sudden turns into a table for 5. Another table, recently seating 3, turned back into a table for 2. After waiting 30 mins and noticing we were not going to be seated, my husband questioned the manager and his response«wait more, a more comfortable table will be available soon.» Seriously? We’ve been waiting for 30 minutes, eager to try out your place, with no one else waiting, two empty tables and, you refuse to seat us? Wait to treat your customers. Absurd behavior, so we left. Too bad they will lose our weekly patronage and that of everyone else we know in the area.

Very solid choice for quality Chinese food on the Upper East Side. We have been there many times and often order from this restaurant for delivery and have never been disappointed. The only downside is the prices — they are a bit high.

Take out quality. Definitely not sit down restaurant quality. Maybe i set my expectations too high by all of these reviews but this is not what these people make out to be «the best chinese in the ues» im pretty sure i can get better from my local takeout spot

Quick delivery and piping hot. Were totally cheerful and eager to deliver even though we called 30 mins before closing asking if it was too late for an order. Great to have in the neighborhood for those lazy nights in!

Well. Ordered pick up. First downfall, ordered brown rice and they packed white rice. Now for the REAL reason I am giving it 1 star, this food is just not good. I even gave it a shot with 4 different dishes, and each one… subpar. So much so that I ordered food from a different Chinese place down the street. Overpriced, bland and not worth it.

After being loyal customers for years, we’ve had enough. Order error after order error. Literally every time in the last few weeks. Missing sodas. no dipping sauce for dumplings(seriously). We’re taking our business elsewhere.

I don’t get people who gave high praise for food at this place. Have New Yorkers not tried good Chinese food? 5 stars for the clean and comfortable ambience. 2 stars maximum for food. Everything is so bland and tasteless. I regretted coming here.

Fantastic Chinese food in the area. My wife and I have only done the sit-down experience, but we’d order takeout in a heartbeat if we did that more often. We’re not super adventurous Chinese food eaters, so the review is for the basics: Szechuan chicken and General Tso’s. The chicken and vegetables are fresh and high quality, and you can sub out white meat only for only $ 1 extra(definitely recommend that). The sauce for the Szechuan chicken: love it. Wait staff is attentive, food comes out fresh and quickly, and the prices aren’t the cheapest around, but for the quality, it’s very reasonable.

I have taken a variety of people here for dinner, girl friend, family visiting, college friends and every single time all parties are happy with the food drinks and the service. Come here first and foremost for the peking duck 5 stars. Other menu items are a very solid 4 stars. Chef Ho’s is a very clean restaurant with experienced staff that I can always count on to be on their game.

Whenever I am on the Upper East Side I will always try to make a stop at Chef Ho’s. Once I brought my girlfriend there for dinner and she really enjoyed the peking duck, and it was for a very reasonable price. The crispy Peking duck was wrapped with a soft shell and there were vegetables along with oyster sauce in it. We also got Ho’s Beef along with Chicken and Broccoli. I like the way they made the chicken, because it was shredded and it was much easier to eat. The Ho’s Beef was indeed delicious as well, it was made with the restaurant’s special sauce that was a bit sweet. The bill came out to be very cheap, around $ 65 because of the duck which cost around $ 40.

Since I’ve been craving peking duck for about a year now, my bf surprised me for our anniversary and took me here for the duck. We ordered a whole duck at $ 39. The duck comes out on a platter– deboned, fat cut off the skin. This place uses the crêpe/pancakes, which I prefer much better than buns, and they will assemble the portion for you, with scallions, cucumber, and plum sauce. The full duck gave us about 8 portions plus 4 drumsticks. I thought the skin was crispy, duck was a bit greasy but totally worth it. It was my bf’s first time having peking duck, and now he’s a convert. Go for the whole duck if you’re not planning to order anything else. We had spring rolls and the pork shumai(also yummy!) as appetizers and we took home 1 portion of the duck plus the drumsticks. Unlike other Chinese places, they don’t charge for tea(which is the way it should be)!

The free hot tea and pickled veg at the start were a nice touch! The décor is sedate, and not just for a Chinese restaurant. It’s too bad the«juicy pork dumplings»(actually soup dumplings) are just a Lunar New Year special, because they were well executed and delicious. The pork buns were large and had the right consistency to the dough, but the filling was totally forgettable. But the filling isn’t really the point, is it? We got the General Tso’s — not over-breaded, light on the veg and sauce, crispy and good flavor if, personally, it was too mild. The Szechuan chicken had a nice bite though, good chunks of proper chicken mixed with red peppers and zucchini, which wasn’t something I’ve been before. A quality meal for a decent price, not outstanding but would go back.

Get the poopoo player and never look back! It came with a fire in the middle to heat up food as you ate. For 14 $!!! Free hot tea. Orange at the end of the meal… this is true Chinese service

I will start by mentioning the good things;?Clean, neatly arranged, beautiful décor, and awesome fish tank. It was definitely a place to admire by the eyes and I wish I could say the same for the tongue. The vegetable rolls were definitely not worth the try. It seemed like this shouldn’t have been offered on the menu. It was really mushy inside and served too hot. I honestly just wanted regular Chinese food so I ordered the shrimp fried rice. I wasn’t impressed not satisfied but I couldn’t stay long so I ate a bit and decided I wouldn’t be curious to try anything else. My friend who accompanied me said the general chicken was delicious. I want to believe it but was difficult to. My glass of wine was what saved my evening. Definitely try at your own risk but if you leave a bit disappointed don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Ok, now I get it. This was GREAT Chinese food. Sunday night, popular night for Chinese apparently. There was a 30 minute wait, which I was shocked about but the restaurant isn’t terribly big so I get it. We went to a wine bar for a glass on the same block while we waited. We started with the fried pork dumplings. They were way too doughy, won’t be getting those again. For our entrée we got the General Tsao’s Chicken and Beef Lo Mein. YUM. The chicken was perfectly crispy and flavorful and the beef lo mein was not overly greasy and had lots of beef in it. The service was okay. Our waitress was attentive, but the entrees took quite some time to come out. I’m still not sure what took so long, but it wasn’t that big of an issue. I’m sad that it took me so long to get here, but this will now be my Chinese food spot! I’m happy I don’t live too far. In the future, I will see if they take reservations, because when you crave Chinese, you don’t want to have to wait! I can’t wait to come back and try my favorite classic dish, Chicken with Broccoli! :)

Best to avoid. The reviews say«come for the Peking duck» as everything else is bad. That sounded ok to us, since we only wanted Peking duck. Unfortunately the duck was also terrible… barely edible. It managed to be both dry and oily. The skin was not crispy, it was, rather, hard and tough like leather. The duck was not carved table side but rather emerged from the kitchen pre-sliced and, according to my wife who knows about these things, sliced the wrong way. Finally, this place embraces the rather peculiar tradition of serving four legs. Honestly it made us feel like we were being served a bunch of old leftovers. My sense is that this place, like some others on the upper east side, survives thanks to a somewhat undemanding and elderly clientele who come here for the sake of tradition. If you’re in the mood for Peking duck, save your money, save a little more, and then go to Peking Duck House on east 53rd st. They do it correctly there.

A little disappointed after a friend recommended it so highly as better than my other Peking Duck favorite place in Chinatown. My last time here. Too far to travel for with nothing else for me to do next. At least my fortune cookie is crisp and fresh. Wish the duck was the same :((
