Au Chelsea Market, il né faut pas prévoir de déjeuner si l’on pense arrivé de la 9eme avenue parce qu’avant même de se poser dans un restaurant, croiser la route de cette boutique s’avère fatidique.
Oui je saurais me retenir, je né fais que regarder, ah tiens une assiette avec quelques échantillons, juste un petit bout pour mettre en appétit c’est promis. Le sempiternel refrain qui finit par un passage en caisse, car c’est là qu’on découvre 15 recettes différentes.
Traditionnel ou aromatisé, ce n’est pas facile de se décider, je craquerais bien pour celui à la cerise et en même temps, le classique est extra, cet infime morceau trop bon né me suffit pas, j’en veut encore.
Pas de jaloux, on embarque les deux. Ils font tous 2,95 $ après tout, à ce prix là c’est un plaisir économique. Monsieur Red With est fini depuis belle lurette et son compagnon, je le garde depuis maintenant deux semaines, car ça se conserve très bien.

Possibly the best, most intense, indulgent brownies I’ve ever had. Stop by while you’re in Chelsea Market. Chocolate lovers will be in heaven. Not for the faint of heart. They were all amazing.

We visited this place in Chelsea Market, and I have to say I was super pumped after hearing so much about this shop. Unfortunately, they were just «ok.» I did buy some of the mini brownies that were pre-​wrapped/​sealed and stated they would last 3 – 5 days. Surprisingly… those were better than the ones we had just bought from behind the counter.

I’m actually really surprised this only has 3.5 stars. Located within Chelsea Market, you will have to brave the throngs of people that visit the market daily to get it it. It is well worth it though, I promise. The brownies are incredible. I highly recommend the Snow Brownie. It is like a sweet buttery heaven. You can’t go wrong with the original, the chocolate walnut is great, the red velvet is wonderful, the double chocolate might kill you cause it’s so damn good. They come in regular sizes and «baby» sizes, which is typically what I go for so I can eat as many flavors as humanly possible. As the seasons change, they make some special flavors like pumpkin during the Fall. The prices are good and the calorie content is high, so be prepared.

We stopped in while walking around Chelsea Markets (store is close to the 9^th Ave entrance), lured by the interesting name and creative décor. Brownie ends were absolutely, incredibly delicious. We also had to pick up one of their mugs (who can resist drinking morning cup of coffee from the cup which says «Fat Witch» :)). The only regret was that we didn’t get brownie baking mix — I’m sure those would come out delicious.
Look for samples in the back of the store.

I consider myself a sort of brownie connoisseur and these brownies are pretty damn excellent! They are moist and dense and all three flavors we tried were tasty which is the most important part. We bought a fat witch, a blonde witch and the turtle witch. My favorite was the traditional fat witch. It was so perfectly chocolatey.
The store is a tiny little sliver in Chelsea market. The line was about ten people long and moved pretty fast. Prices were not absurd either, after purchasing four we paid about nine dollars. It is not a place to go and grab one and then sit down but eating it while checking out the rest of Chelsea market makes for a great snack.

AAAAAAMAZING brownie… i couldnt even wait to get home to eat mine. then i got sad when i got home that i had nothing lol ill definitely be sneaking (my wife will want to eat them all)) over here every chance i can.
Im not too adventurous when it comes to brownies, they had a coffee flavor, others with nuts… but i kept it OG and caramel. Yup… ill be back soon

Cute store front with child-​like drawing of a cartoon witch. They have brownies in small quantities and on the shelf, some candies (limited quantities, supply) they make for sale.
I was thinking of getting one to try but didn’t want to wait in line (only 2 ahead of me) and having just had a dry, bland buttermilk scone from Sarabeth’s down the ways, was not in the mood for more carbs. The store is located in the Chelsea Mkt. I was thinking of buying a few pre-​packaged brownies to take home for friends but they say it should be consumed in 5 days, so I skipped on it.
There is a wonderful Fred Flintstone size sofa-​type seating across the hall from the store which is great for resting your tired feet. Looks like it’s made of concrete but decorated colorfully. You get to watch the shoppers come out with their goodies from the Fat Witch.

There are lots of magical treats to be had at Chelsea Market, but Fat Witch is unquestionably the most magical of all. You can’t go wrong with the original variety of brownie — though a lot of the more «out there» flavors are fun, too. And there are usually free samples to be had to make up your mind.
The pre-​packaged brownies with their cute labels are cute sure. But unless you’re taking them to someone as a gift, you should get the unwrapped varieties for maximum gooey freshness.
Also– the witching hour! Go at the end of the day for half price unwrapped brownies– a dangerously delicious deal.

What a serendipitous find! A friend of mine and I stumbled upon the Fat Witch while looking for another shop (lured in by the irresistible smell of chocolate) and discovered that we had in fact entered during the «witching hour», during which all unwrapped brownies are $ 1.50!
My friend and I fully expected the witching hour to be something like the last half hour of the day, but it actually runs 5−9pm so yes, you read right, all of their delectable brownies (unwrapped) are a mere one and a half dollars for 4 glorious hours!
When we visited, they had at least 6 or 7 flavors of unwrapped brownies and whole trays of them available for purchase, so naturally I chose 3. Don’t worry — I’ll be back to try the others soon. The raspberry white chocolate is my favorite so far — I am a certified Fat Witch fan.

Oh brownie heaven, hello. So the Fat Witch Bakery is a small shop inside the Chelsea Market that are famous for their brownies. The shop sells wrapped and unwrapped brownies with the unwrapped being a tad cheaper. The unwrapped ones have a sample on display in the glass window. The variety of brownies they offer is quite impressive, I think I had to have seen at least 10 different varieties. The shop is mostly the counter and the line with a few things on the side to look at or purchase, but the reason you go are for the brownies.
The food:
Walnut Witch– This is the classic brownie and it was my fav. I thought the texture of the brownie was great while not being too chewy or fudgy like. The walnuts offered a nice contrast in texture.
Blonde Witch– It’s basically a blonde which was good but slightly one note. I thought the texture and taste was nice but felt it was slightly missing something.
Breakfast Witch– it’s kinda like a Frankenblonde. It is a blonde with brownie on top which was good but not great. The oatmeal was too noticeable since the oats were rather large and they were too firm.

I love that fat witch has the nutritional info for all of its products on its website (the right hand corner of the homepage). These are very high calorie so I’d suggest getting a small version or only eating a quarter/​half as a serving.
I happened upon this store after a workout class, originally thinking it was a café because of ‘witch’ in the name (I thought they did sandwiches and maybe salads). Nope, it’s all just delicious brownies (mini ones too), mixes, and related merchandise.
Anyway, the customer service was friendly. They had little mini brownie samples out and I tried one. Delicioso.
Apparently if you come later on in the evening the baked goods in the display case are cheaper, but I wasn’t going to be back so I bought the mini brownie instead.

1.75 stars really: mean of 2.5 for the average tasting brownies and 1 star for the uncivilized staff.
Just went here today after reading about all the hype. I bought the milk chocolate and original fat witch brownies. Brownies are good but not excellent. Standard if not below standard fare. They also sell brownie mix which is a cool way of merchandising.
The shop is cute with hand drawn witches everywhere.
But then there was a woman (may have been the owner?) who was extremely rude. She kept yelling «who’s next! WHO’S READY!» «TWO FIFTY!» «NEXT!» Like the brownie equivalent of the «Soup Nazi» Lol Completely unnecessary and bad for their brand really.
Skip this place as the brownies are just alright but nothing to write home about. Plus Brownie Nazi.

I was so happy I discovered this little bakery! They have lots of choice and not just your typical brownies.
I was greedy and had 2 brownies as I couldn’t decide which flavor to choose & they are such good value at $ 2.50! I chose the s’mores brownie & the PB&J.
The s’mores was nice as it had a crunch to it with the graham crackers, which I enjoyed, but my favorite was the PB&J! It was like a crumb cake but with a peanut butter kick. This flavor was flavor of the month so I don’t know whether it will be there all the time, but I will certainly look for it again next time I’m at Chelsea market, it is delicious!

Everyone that knows me knows that I absolutely love sweets! But I’ll take a cupcake or ice cream with toppings any day. But these are the best brownies I have ever had they are so amazing. They are very rich tasting and fresh. They’re so delicious though you can only have them in little tiny pieces otherwise it’s too much. My favorite is the blonde witch! Try some with an espresso from the coffee shop next to them.

An adorable little shop in Chelsea Market that deserves more reviews. I love that Fat Witch uses all natural ingredients and that their brownies aren’t too dense or dry. The walnut and original brownie both have a perfect consistency and taste – not so fudgy to the point where your mouth becomes gooey and not overwhelmingly sweet.
The reason I gave 4 stars as opposed to 5, is because I purchased a lb. of the Fat Witch Brownie Ends, and they did not taste like brownie ends at all. I expected a crunchier texture, but they tasted like their original brownies, but a little stale.

I don’t remember when was the last time I came to Chelsea Market and I forgot how much great food is located inside here.
From the entrance (across the street from Google), walk a few stores down and you will discover a store with a cute witch logo call Fat Witch Bakery.
I say it should more Fat Witch Brownies since they are really famous for their brownies.
No seating inside the Bakery, just walk-​in, buy and bye!
All the brownies here are sold by the pieces (the big ones are about 2.5“x2.5“x1″ (for the regular brownie) and small ones are about 1.5“x1.5“x 1″) and very nicely wrapped.
The lady cashier was super nice and even gave us a piece of free Thanksgiving Brownie to try!
We brought a few types to try (Oatmeal Brownie, Blondie, Original Brownie) and our favorite one is definitely the
ORIGINAL BROWNIE: OMG this Brownie is definitely the softest one I ever had, it’s a texture I didn’t expect, usually brownies are very dense and chewy but the ones in Fat Witch are different, their brownies have a crust on the outside and extra soft and fudgy on the inside. It doesn’t taste heavy and greasy like regular brownies and not super sweet neither. I think I can easily down 3 – 4 of these brownies by myself if I am given the opportunity (my wife won’t let me ;(((
Oatmeal Brownie and Blondie wasn’t as good in comparison to the brownie, perhaps the lack of chocolate made them taste a lot drier and a lot more like a piece of cake than a brownie.
Price: good! The big ones are $ 2.95 each and small ones are $ 1.95 each
Overall: GET THE BIG BROWNIE! and GET MORE THAN 1, 1 is never enough to satisfy your cravings, trust me, I finished my brownie in about 4 bites and wish I had more ;(should have savor those 4 bites…

Great tasting brownies. Been here a couple of times but tried their brownies more than that. The store is pretty small and cute in Chelsea Market but you do not need to trek all the way to Chelsea if you do not live in the metro area. They are available for online orders. And as luck had it, they are available at my local Food Cellar. But since we were in the area, there isn’t any reason not to stop by their store.
These brownies are sold individually wrapped. They do have unwrapped ones if you’re ready to devour them and I think they were 25 or 50 cents less. They also had baby ones. And for those who love brownie edges, they have those packed in a bag too.
My favorite is the Walnut Witch but the Double Chocolate, Caramel and Smores comes very close. Don’t worry if you’re not much of a sweet tooth. These brownies aren’t overly sweet. They have the perfect amount of sweetness. It is also moist but not cakey. Their density is how I liked my brownies to be.
Do I need to say more? These are my perfect brownies. Yum!

A brownie store located in Chelsea Market. Went there after 5pm which has unwrapped brownie sale for 1.5 each on every flavor. I guess this is a very famous store that got a lot of l publicities from Japan. The couple before us, from Japan, bought all kinds of brownies, eco-​bags and t-​shirts. Overheard the total for their bill was like over 180. REALLY?
We got one walnut brownie only. Just want to try it out. Just one bite, and I was in love with it. I love those brownies with crisp or flaky top. It reminds me of Ovaltine if you know what am I talking about. It’s not sweet and still moist inside. It’s just great. Would’ve engulf the whole thing if bf was not there staring at me eating. Want to go back and buy more!

Some of the best brownies NYC has to offer! It’s a small shop located in the middle of Chelsea Market. There’s all types of goodies inside, but the cream of the crop are the Big Witch brownies. They offer a variety of flavors disguised with nicknames such as Walnut Witch, Red Witch, Breakfast Witch, Java Witch, Snow Witch, Caramel Witch, Double Chocolate Witch, Whiskey Witch and Wicked Witch. Some of the names are obvious, some not so much, but the good thing is that the actual flavor is labeled on the bottom of the wrapping. These bad boys are 3.8oz and will cost you $ 2.95. It’s a bit pricey for a brownie, but walk around NYC and you won’t see much variation elsewhere.
The shop also offers smaller versions of the brownie called Witch babies, but in less flavors. These brownies are 1.5oz and come in at $ 1.85. For those wanting to try a big brownie, but not willing to spend the $ 2.95, you’ve come to the right place as well. Fat Witch has a «happy hour» after 5pm, where they sell their unwrapped brownies at half price.
As for the brownies taste, they are very very fudgie (with the exception of the Blonde, Oatmeal and Snow Witches). The wrapped Big Witch brownies have a smooth, flour-​ish texture to them. Unlike most brownies that are sold in bakeries, they are not flaky or hard. They are very sweet and not for the faint of heart. If you’re not into sweets, it is NOT for you. The happy hour brownies are more similar to what I see in other bakeries. They are a bit harder and have a flaky, uneven texture. I feel they are also slightly bigger than the Big Witch brownies, but just as good.
Not sure if you’re getting your best bang for your buck, but the brownies are still very good here and if you’re into brownies then it’s still a must try!

On a donc profité d’une ballade près du Chelsea Market pour y goûter et … OH ouiiiii qu’est-ce qu’ils sont BONS, WOUHOU !!!
Et si je vous dis que après 17h, ils soldent les brownies non emballés à 1,50 $ au lieu de 3 $, donc… –50%, ah ça c’est des soldes comme j’aime !!!
On a gouté classical, walnut et caramel, franchement ils sont tous très bons mais (comme souvent) je préfère l’authenticité du classique
Donc si vous passez à proximité offrez vous une pause gourmande par ici, le marché en lui même vaut carrément le détour et les brownies envoient du FAT !
