Shitty customer service. Basic level food. Not worth my time coming. I came for Mother’s Day with my family. There was seven of us and they placed us on the table where people walk around us. Like it was so frustrating and annoying. They took forever to take our order. If it wasn’t for my parent thinking it’s rude to leave, I woulda left. Also I understand there was a big reservation before us but goddamn it take care of the other table first before feeding four large table because we were sat down before them.

This place is great for cheap and quick food to go. I had to order food to go at this place and it was done in less than 10 minutes.

So bad. I took take out. Crispy duck over white rice. As I left. I went to eat in the street and notice something was off about the rice almost taste rancid and the duck was stone cold. I went back to asks them to heat it up. As they threw it in the microwave I notice there fish tank. One fish was dead and another had sores. It seem like it was breathing its last breath. That was it for me. Never again. Stay away. Check the tank before entering please.

Ordered«wonton soup» and«three treasure on rice.» One of the treasures, the fried egg, was stone cold. The roast pork and roast chicken were also a bit cold, so was the cabbage that came on the side. Did I mention the middle of the wontons are cold? Def come here in the summer to enjoy these dishes -.- food temperature aside, the taste is pretty good. The soup has a hint of sweetness, and the roasted meats tasted decent.

Such a terrible experience, to go order. A waitresses with bad attitudes asked spice for additional charge. What’s more, she refused me to pay with a credit card. Is it OK, cash only?

4.50 can get you roast pork over rice with some cabbage to go in about a minute. Haven’t had anything else yet but might return on my way home and craving some Cantonese meats.

For some reason, as deserted as this place is, the boss always either seated me next to someone who had the flu or some other unknown incurable disease or when I’m already seated and talking profusely to my friends, he has to seat someone to the table right behind me and within 30 seconds they leave because they should not have been anywhere near me to begin with. Though it’s his fault, the boss is pissed off at me and doesn’t welcome me anymore. Another time my 80 year old friend ordered duck that was incredibly salty and brought it to the boss’ attention, the boss simply rolls his eyes and walks away. I can tell you, I used to like this place it is what it is. What can I say?

Food was ok. We didn’t come here during the rush hour so the service and the environment felt nice too. Only problem tho, too much salt in congee…

Disgusting. I been eating here since I was a teenager and I never had any problems until today. I was pouring tea from the kettle and a dead baby roach came out. I told the waiter and he didnt even seem to care. Never again will I go here. I filed a complaint with the department of mental health. I heard this place closed down a few years ago for the same problem.

I’m a fan for lunch under 5 bucks. Here you got you got a place to get lunch for 4.25! Four Twenty Five! yes they have a ton of lunch specials for 4.25, which suddenly makes it worth it for me to take the train down from 34th street to here and walk the block and a half there. It’s super fast — super cheap and easy to get to. I’ll come back for lunch and pick up lunch for a few people next time haha.

Typical below-mediocre Chinatown joint that has all kind of things in the menu but doesn’t really specialize in anything. We came Saturday night and it was so empty(you get the equation, right?). This is only good if you want guaranteed no-waiting-time, no-rush, but below mediocre Chinese food.

When it comes to eight course banquet dinners, this restaurant isn’t a place to go for one. The three seafood courses that supposed to be made tasty(or at least good) were a failure for trying. The soup(not sure what kind it was) had the texture of jelly(or too much starch), the rock(sek tao) fish was simply bad and the lobsters were awful(dry). The five other courses were OK(likely because we were hungry and food tends to taste good when your hungry). The black bean soup served as dessert tasted burnt. Suffice to say the orange was sweet(I guess they can’t ruin that unless they decided to cook it). When it comes to banquet dinners, I would recommend restaurants that know how to cook for one.

This is our hot spot after participating in the Chinese New Year Parade, just looking from the outside, this is just one of the many Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, it looks the same, nothing fantastic or appealing on the outside that would want to make you go in, but it does a great job with the food, not only is it cheap and affordable but when you have large groups of people like us, it does the job, they have these specials which is like about 8 dishes to choose from that are $ 7.50 each dish, mostly fish and seafood, another $ 6.95 special that has about 8 other selections, has more meat We ordered the deep fried crispy tofu, they are kind of big and has shrimp in the middle, is quite tasty Walnut shrimp with broccoli — tasted yummy with jumbo type shrimp String bean with garlic sauce — this was tasty, all the non chinese people liked it too and I recommended it since I had to pick some stuff for myself since i’m a pescatarian, P. S. why the heck is it that all the freaking meat eating people always like the non meat stuff that i choose? i’m gonna have to hog up those plates next time Had shrimp lo mein which is okay, too americanized Fried squid — this was yummy, very tender and juicy All other meat dishes — can’t comment since i’m a pescatarian we had about 10 family style dishes for about $ 141 including tips, now thats a deal

Feng Cheng Yuan Restaurant Inc. is a pretty good size with lots of tables further inside. This restaurant used to be Fu Wong and the printed menu with the bats and coins hasn’t changed. The menu is extensive and prices very affordable with many dishes on rice, noodles, casseroles, and noodle soups. There are large tables and smaller tables on each side. Chairs have black rod backs and cushions are flesh colored. There are lots of pictures of the food again posted on the side of walls and over the mirrors and waiters wearing red vests are busy hustling and bustling around. I came on one of the coldest days in 2012 and waiter brings me a pot of tea. The tea was cold. I could tell I was off to a good start. I had the combination of beef, pork and squid congee for $ 4.00 a bowl. Congee is basically like porridge, but made out of rice and lots of water and any other fillings you might add in. It’s Chinese comfort food and great for cold winter days. The congee had some very tasty peanuts and green onions topping it off, but I didn’t taste any squid in my congee. They had slices of fish cake and some roasted meats and also some thin noodles mixed in as fillers. I could taste the roasted pork bits. I didn’t like the gloppy consistency of this congee. It didn’t have a nice mouth-feel and could use some smoothness. Best part was the tasty peanuts! For a better congee, try Congee Village next door or Yummy Noodles and my winner for sampan congee Great NY Noodletown.

Since Feng Cheng Yuan is around the corner from my parents’ place, we end up here a lot for dinner, lunch and takeout. Not only is it popular with locals, the Fung Wah bus crowds are coming and going at all hours. You’ll see a lot of Bostonians, Philadelphians and District of Columbians(with their baggage in tow) chowing down on cha siu over rice and wonton noodles. Since the change in name from Fu Wong, they have added a lot to their menu. They serve a lot more dim sum items(so-so) and dinner dishes(from the pictures on the walls) on their expanded menu. Their main staple is still lunch which includes roast duck, roast pork, BBQ ribs, soy sauce chicken and roast whole pig in any combination over rice or in noodle soup with or without wontons. Congee(rice porridge) is also popular, especially the 1000 yr egg & shredded pork congee. Dinner is very good and consistent for a neighborhood restaurant. The specials on the walls are no longer restricted to those that can read Chinese, because you can point to pictures. Plus they have special items that are priced low when you pair them with a regular priced item. I highly recommend the pan-fried flounder, but get the XL Plus size!

Grease, waiters in vests, butcher cutting up the hanging bbq pork, and roasted chicken and duck and cook in the front… this is what defines a classic chinatown restuarant. Used to be called FUWONGS, but changed names and owners? Still the same workers and still the same cooks. Food still tastes like it should in a chinese resturant. The menu is huge, but the price is affordable and cheap. Get some chow or lo mein, beef or chicken. Get some rice with whatever your want on top… beef and broccoli, fried fish culet with tofu. Some classic chinese dishes. You can always find a seat here and service is fast. Nothing special, but this place gets it done. Sit your ass, order, food comes fast, eat, drink some beer or soup, and your stomach will thank you.

Feng Cheng Yuen is a good option for an authentic Chinese meal in a not-so-touristy part of town. The meals are affordable, good quality, and tasty, with healthy portions that will most likely mean leftovers. My in-laws tend to favor Feng Cheng Yuan also because the restaurant is clean, with speedy chefs, and we can always get a table to seat all of the family. The staff is mostly Cantonese, but there is at least one person around with good English. I have a hard time recalling what I’ve eaten here because the dishes didn’t wow me — they were all just good. The fiancé enjoyed the fried steak and dou miao. I enjoyed the fried flounder and the conch with snow peas. The soft shell crab dish was tasty and good portioned. The shrimp with walnuts had waaay too much sauce. The oyster omelet was really salty.

Meetup on a brisk pre-Spring Saturday 12 noon for a party of five on the Bowery. Lunch at Feng Cheng Yuan Restaurant, a dinning room atmosphere bears our three platters of vegetables, fish, dau6 miu4 Pea Shoots/Pea Sprouts, plus several Dim Sum staples in Cantonese fashion. Cantonese presence is worldwide! Personally, I love the fragrance of rice as oppose to Western food. Quality of food was above average as the chef honored our request for not heavily swimming in oil. Price is reasonable for $ 11.00 per person at a party of five totally $ 45.00. Our three platters were from the specials menu depicted on the wall, which were in favor to fill our hunger pangs and to foot the bill. It were also not an eternal wait for arrival either. Facilities are decent as a mop is visible to the eye sore. Staff did not usher us to quickly finish our meal to have our table readily available for the next party.

— overall rating: 3.5 — one of the better places in chinatown for roast pig/pork(not to be confused with char siu) — reasonable pricing — a bit of a language barrier issue with non-chinese speaking customers(my bf being one of them lol)
