I got here quite late so there wasn’t much and I assume the stuff left wasn’t fresh. That said the melon cake was a-ok. There is a for sale sign on top, wondering if they’re closing soon?

I had an errand to do around 34th Street and I am glad that I bookmarked Fuji Bakery beforehand. Wow I came in just as the lunch time has died down because I seen pictures of ridiculous long lines… pheewww! I didn’t know how to order until the woman behind the counter told me Two Choices with rice $ 5.95 or Three Choices with rice $ 6.95 then you can pick any and no more fried rice: sad face: I like my food to have some color so I did a quick look through and got the Sesame Chicken and Chicken Broccoli then glance over to the bakery counter and spotted an Egg Tart $ 1.00…mmmmmm mama want you in my belly! My both chicken sides were superbly delicious and fulfilling. Not too much batter on the Sesame Chicken and I can taste CHICKEN then most places that are mad cheap a$$…you know what I am talking about!

Is this place still open? I call but no answer. Anyone know about prices? Do they still have hot food?

In the area and want to get a decent hearty meal for not much money? This is your place. You walk in and the place is a bit dingy and sterile at the same time but I’ve never had any issues with the food. It is a very traditional Chinese place. The lunch special is a steal. You choose either Lo Mein Noodles, Fried Rice, or White Rice(the former two choices tends to run out if you go too late) and pick 2 choices for $ 5.95 or 3 choices for $ 6.95 at the hot counter. They will have an assortment of meats, stews, veggies, tofu, barbecue, and daily specialties to choose from. All combos come with a cup of veggie or rice/tofu soup while they last. They also offer breakfast dim sum and a bunch of baked goods and pastries. Good choices, good portions, good prices, you can’t go wrong.

I come here from time to time. while the food is decent. its the owner lady that has a bitch of an attitude. I once placed a kitchen order, bell rang and my order came out… and she(bitch lady) assured me with the biggest attitude that it was not my order. OK…at this point its been a good 16 minutes pass and I’m questioning how long does a soup noodle take to make. The other girl who actually took my order realized the(bitch lady) gave my order to someone else accidentally. I hate(bitch lady) with all my heart! she has issues.

Sure, it’s not the cleanest place and the workers may have a questionable grasp on English, but it’s the best option in Midtown West(better than Ying Du) for traditional Chinese bakery goods just like in Chinatown. I’ve had their sesame ball, deep-fried meat dumpling, pork floss bun, pineapple bun with custard filling, and red bean swirl bread. Contrary to an earlier review, the pork floss bun does not have cream filling, which it honestly doesn’t need as the pork floss(dried pork bits, or rou song) is rich enough. I’ve never seen this type of bun before and enjoyed the sweet yet savory quality. Come early in the morning for warm, freshly baked goods. Cash only.

I am not sure about the cooked foods or dim sum… But boy are the pastries delicious! I bought some for the coworkers and my mother who is coming from out of town. My coworker loved the sesame balls! My favorite is definitely the Bbq pork buns! They are warm, soft and very big for only $ 1 The ladies behind the counter seem nice enough. But maybe because I’m chinese? I wish they had more options or know more about their offerings, I have a mother who is typically very picky… So for that one star knocked off. The ladies did not know the contents of their fried dumplings If I have time, I will definitely try their lunch items. Note, there is sufficient seating area. It is not the fanciest or cleanest. For this price. I will definitely come back

My friend and I came here one day to grab a quick bite to eat. We both opted for their baked items and ordered the pork bun and the ham, egg, and cheese bun. Both items were pretty good. I would have never expected this place to be where it is, but it’s a convenient location for me rather than having to make the trek to Chinatown if I wanted pork buns or something of the like. It’s nice to know that I can get these things in Midtown. They weren’t the best pork buns or ham, egg, and cheese buns that I’ve ever tried, but they were decent, and they were cheap and convenient, so I might be back.

In the city of growing prices, Fuji bakery is a great lil chinese gem. Though their exterior looks like an abandon warehouse, their buns are cheap and delicious. One dollar for either a bbq pork bun, chinese hotdog bun, or a egg and ham bun. Best deal in herald square. People who negatively review have mis-understood expectations. Would you expect a 2 bro pizza to taste like Ny suprema? of course not. So come here for a great breakfast bun without breaking the bank.

You don’t see too many Asian Bakeries in midtown, I’m pretty sure I have passed this place before. Today I came in to pick up some treats for a meeting. This is your average Asian bakery with egg tarts, red bean sesame balls, rolls, cakes and mini cakes. They also have a menu of lunch items as well. The place had a lot of patrons sitting for lunch. The single desserts are $ 1 a piece, wow, that’s a pretty good price — so I bought a box of 15. The various desserts were ok, the sponge cake was a little on the dry side, but overall good. I also had a milk tea made in the usual fashion with evaporated milk and sugar, it was piping hot sweet and good! Overall it’s a good place to come if you need a cheap sweet treat!

Nice canton bakery with Cantonese dishes. I went there for lubch with my Taiwanese friend. We like it although not a lot of varieties, they are of good amount already. The shop was filled with nice ladies. Clean and you can sit down after buying the food at the buffet bar. The other thing I like abt this shop is that customers are not accessible to the food, they pick up for u, so, hygiene !!! Good Chinese foods at Mid town area, vy close to subway. Oh, they only take cash, one cons.

Fuji Bakery, is tucked behind where all the busy streets and pedestrians flock to go to Penn Station and shop on 34th Street, yet people still find their way here. Much of the lunch line crowd are the workers who work close enough to this place. It isn’t the cleanest looking establishment with dirty looking windows outside an along the hot food counter. It has«B» rating for cleaniness which would seem appropriate. There is one side for the hot food and one side for the Chinese buns, breads. It was around lunch time that I made my way here, so there was a long line of people waiting to get a quick, cheap meal. Where I spied the sautéed green beans as the color was brilliant. It looked fresh enough. The bread/bun counter has most of the familiar Chinese buns such as pork buns, pineapple buns, cocktail buns, cream filled buns and dan tart. I decided to take get a baked pork bun and piece of sponge cake to go that only set me back $ 2.00. I was very surprised to find that the pork bun was actually very good. The filling is not as much as they give you in Hop Sing, and it doesn’t have all the onions, which is great for me and the filling is not as starchy which is terrific. The bread is nice and bready, without it being too doughy. I also tasted a hint of sweetness in the dough. Sponge cake was very good, even the next day. It was light, airy not dry or dense and it wasn’t overly sweet. The buns and pastries are a really good size. I spied that their dan tart has the cookie dough skin and not the flaky crust skin There are tables inside for diners or take out, as the majority of people do take their food to go. There is no order here at the bun/pastry counter, so if you are skipped, quickly jump in and raise your voice so you can get service. I can’t rate the other food cause I haven’t tried it, but the bread/buns pastries are very respectable.

Wednesday Morning craving for some good Chinese style breakfast. Then I remember a few weeks ago my friend mentioned a Chinese bakery that had a good selection of Chinese breakfast by Penn Station named Fuji Bakery. So Fuji Bakery it is! The place located on 35th street between 7th ave and 8th ave. it’s not the easiest place to find but just follow your nose!(major building construction next day) We got to Fuji Bakery at 7am, there weren’t a lot of food on the counter top other than some bread. The lady behind the counter ask me what I would like and I ask her if they serve hot food. She said they have dim sum as well and I said BINGO, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. I guess we came a little too early, the only dimsum they have at that moment were rice roll w/spare ribs, pork buns, and Shumai(pork dumpling). So i got myself an order of rice roll w/spare ribs and shumai and I immediately regret my decision once she pulled that plate of rice roll w/spare ribs… OMG that portion was huge! I eat quite a bit and I estimate that order to feed at least 2 people and then I got the Shumai on top it… I’m in trouble! TIP: make sure you tie the bag tightly cause that rice roll w/spare ribs smells like fart. I’m pretty sure everyone thought I farted on the subway but no biggie! well worth the sacrifice for good food! Got to the office, open up the food and WHIFF the rice roll w/spare ribs was released into the air… but the dish was tasty, the spare ribs was flavorful and tender. The rice roll was a little bland but the texture was excellent(soft and chewy) the spare ribs was juicy and flavorful when eaten together they perfectly complimented each other. Again, it comes in a big portion so you might want to share that with someone. The shumai didn’t impress me too much, it was salty and tasted like it had tons of fatty meat in it. so yea let’s skip that Price: Average– Rice roll + Shumai = $ 7 Overall: The food is good and it is perfect on days you are craving for Chinese breakfast without having to go all the way to Chinatown. Big portion is a plus!

This is the closest thing to an authentic chinatown bakery I’ve ever seen in this neighborhood. For those who don’t know, typical chinese bakeries typically are low in price and breads are very fresh. They usually offer more than your sandwich buns, sometimes including cakes, and other breakfast food such as congees or noodles. This particular bakery sells buns, cakes, teas and coffees, sliced breads, and I even spotted breakfast foods such as turnip cakes and such. I’m not sure if they take credit card but I wouldn’t bet on it since most little bakeries don’t. I ordered a pork floss bun [ It tastes better than it sounds…] and it was good. The bun to pork floss ration was decent. I hate when places offer too much bun and no pork. It was towards the middle of the day ~4 so most of their baked goods were sold out. I spotted a few more buns behind the glass, but none looked super fresh. This dimly lit bakery might not be easy to spot but once you walk in there are chairs and tables for seating. I wouldn’t want to hang out there though. It’s more of a grab and go kind of place. tldr: Great for some filling cheap chinese styles buns.

I’ve passed Fuji many times before — but never when it was open. While running by on an empty stomach, I decided to head inside and see what they had to offer. It was almost 5pm at this point and it looked like they were winding down for the day. Still, I was hungry, they had buns and I figured for $ 1 why not try something? I picked up the pork floss bun, which is a long, oval bun with cream in the middle and«pork floss» on top(if you don’t know what that is, go here: ). This is one of my favorite buns, but generally bakeries screw one of two things up: either the pork floss to bun ratio is off(usually too much bun, too little floss) or somehow the bun is dry. I didn’t encounter either of these issues with this bun. Indeed, it was quite soft and there was plenty of pork floss on top. It was absolutely delicious. The young lady who took my order was fast, efficient and friendly even though she looked quite tired. I’d definitely stop in again for another bun. If this is how good their buns are at the end of the day, I can only imagine they’re even better earlier!

Fuji is one of the more authentic Chinese bakeries outside of Chinatown. Not much décor-wise, except for a beautiful, intricate mahogany shrine. But it is my favorite spot for my ultimate power breakfast: a sesame ball and a sweet rice cake with coffee. The sesame ball is chewy rice dough filled with a smooth black bean paste and rolled in golden-brown sesame seeds. The sweet rice cake is the same thing without seeds, fried to a gently browned crisp. I have heard it said that some Chinese languages are sung, not spoken. However, after coming here a few years, I’m can say that some languages are meant to be shouted. Especially on a busy morning.

I felt lucky I could try the two Chinese bakery in near I work in 2days! I just did try other bakery in yesterday and though this place is a bit better then other store. (BTW, I only had a bakery items so I wouldn’t know the other food taste like in here) Mainly, they are the restaurant/to go food place so the choices of baked goodies are very limited. (They have a enough seats to sit if you want to stay.) I got a sugared donuts, red bean bun, BBQ pork bun each and those are so good! Dough itself are really fluffy, light texture and not too sweet or over powered taste. Looks good too thought. All the items are around $ 1 so price is very good to me! I’d recommend this place for a quick & easy snack in midtown:)

For a Chinese bakery/restaurant in midtown Manhattan, one might grant this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, this review is coming from someone(someone CHINESE may I add) with high standards when it comes to restaurants and food, so I’m gonna compare this place to the best of the best rather than neighboring Chinese joints in midtown. I have mixed feelings about this place, but my ratings for each segment averages out to about 3 stars. The baked goods are decent: I especially love the roast pork buns and can say that they make it better than some bakeries in Chinatown. The filling contains 90−95% roast pork MEAT and not 50% meat/50% FAT. The roast pork is also RED and lean, not BROWN and resembles you know what. I prefer phyllo dough crusts with my egg tarts over the pie crusts served with the egg tarts at Fuji, but they satisfy my occasional craving for egg tarts. I’ve also tried the ham and egg bun, which is creatively topped with a piece of melted cheese. Other buns(ie: croissants, raisin buns and pineapple buns) are meh. Now, to their dim sum: One word. Bad. No, two words. Very bad. The filling in their siu mai contains nothing but pork fat. I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt, thinking ‘maybe they had a bad day,’ or ‘maybe they ran out of shrimp,’ but NO, the filing is a rolled up ball of FAT covered with a wonton skin. Their beef and shrimp rice rolls are okay, but I definitely had way, way better. The rice rolls and shrimp are usually overcooked and the beef is fatty. I don’t order lunch rice dishes from here often, but the times that I have, they were satisfactory. Good deal, but I’d pass, unless I have a craving for Chinese food, which is the only reason why I find myself here most of the time. Service: HORRIBLE!!! My goodness. These ladies are so rude. I understand that it gets busy and customers can be a pain in the arse, but c’mon ladies. There is no need for screaming. Why so angry? Bad service in a fast-food type Chinese restaurant/bakery like this one is common, but dang, they deserve a trophy.

Totally the best breakfast place for me. everytime I have to go in early for work, we get orders from here. It’s considerably better than some of the places in Ctown but not the top quality. The price is very reasonable with $ 2 to 3 per dim sum dish. Why go all the way down to ctown while you can get some from here. I don’t know about the lunch or anything but I heard it’s good. They start stocking up fresh food from bake good to dimsum dish around 7:30am during weekdays. decent affordable coffee.
