Located on the ground floor of the sprawling, much-maligned Port Authority Bus Terminal, toward the Eighth Avenue end of the building on W. 42nd Street, this store is a stone’s throw from a veritable cornucopia of fast-food options and serves as the one, non-sodium-laden options to consume. The store is large, airy, well stocked and appropriately staffed by eager nutrition buffs, which is quite common for GNC stores throughout the city, with the lamentable exceptions, of course. The employees seem to know their business, even though I might quarrel with the perceived necessity of nutritional supplements and vitamins in the first place. Read a respected medical journal, such as The Lancet, for more on this. Prenatal vitamins, however, are one area in which I’m not willing to fall short. In this store, they’re located in the middle of the right-hand wall, about three feet from the ground. They’ll ask you if you have or want a gold GNC card, but I’ve found that I don’t use it enough to qualify the expense, even after three kids in three years! The convenience of this store and the efficiency of the store clerks made me feel warm and fuzzy, and I’ll definitely be back here if I need to pick up more prenatal vitamins anytime soon. NOT that I’m expecting to!
