Great price, staff, location. Can’t go wrong.

VERY UPSET! came here through Expedia, waste of money! all rooms SHARE a bathroom on each floor! they are also VERY small rooms, they tried to give us an upgrade for another $ 40 just for a room with a bathroom that was the same size as the other room! would not refund our money! DO NOT GO HERE!

Each floor has a bathroom that you share (theres shampoo and conditioner in the shower). Rooms are small (bed, sink, small TV, towels). It’s good for a short stay if you don’t want to spend much on your travels, but I wouldn’t stay here for more than a couple days.

Horrible Hôtel ! A Way to expensive for the value…
No elevator.
The breakfast is minimalist and only few chairs to sit.
Sharing bathroom was dirty.
Internet connexion was slow.

My room was robbed. Was told no one could reach owner or refund my prepaid cash so I could leave. DO NOT STAY HERE! Everyone seems to have problems when they go to check in. Then they threaten to call police yet they have ur money. I am a NYer — u can do better!!!

The most horrible hotel I’ve ever stayed. I checked in and they gave me the room on the 5^th floor and I had to use stairs. When I came up I couldn’t open my room door, so I had to came down again with all my luggage to ask them to fix my key. Also they were always fixing something, so it was noisy and dirty. There were pieces of trash on smelly carpet on my way to the bathroom (which was shared).And by the way when I was booking hotel, nothing said the bathroom was shared. After I booked it said, so I wanted to cancel, but they would take 100 $ cancellation fee! For 3 days of staying the housekeepers have not come by. I had to call to ask extra towels. I would never advise this hotel to anybody. Stay away from this one.

If you want to think that you are paying a great price for a hotel in the city, but really over pay for something that is closer to a bad hostel this a good place for you. The rooms are small and ok for ppl liking for some economy options, But I had to fight with the night manager for him to move me to a room with a bathroom, for an extra fifty dollars a night and then there are BED BUGS! I HAVE BITES ALL OVER MY FACE! When I thought it was all over they charged me an extra 192 dollars after I left because of some error and have been incredibly difficult on fixing it. AVOID THIS PLACE IT IS AWFUL.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Scary and bad vibe even from the street. I have been battling with the CC company, the Hotel charged me for the first night even though there was NO WAY in HELL I would stay. I sucked it up and paid $ 100 more per night to stay at another hotel.

Do not stay here! I have traveled to many foreign countries and stayed in hostels and this is worse than any hostel I’ve stayed in. No elevator so you have to walk luggage up, shared bathroom which is weird, $ 10 charge to hold you luggage, but the two worst things for me… Dirty sheets and bed bugs! I even asked for new sheets at the from desk and when I asked he said no and then my husband asked and he said let me check and all he had to do was stand up and open a closet where he had tons of sheets. He did give us a new set but it was still gross and dirty. We saw 2 bed bugs, one on my towel and then other on our clothes and now I have tons of bites and my husband is now looking for a service to wash our luggage and clothes. Avoid this place at all costs!

Hotel 309 is literally the ‘plagues of the pharaohs’. I’ll keep it short:
#1. MICE in the room.
Crawled over my legs when I was falling a sleep the first (and only night). I’ve never dealt with mice in a hotel room, ever. It was already 3am, no where to go, no manager, so I had to wrap myself in blankets & pray the mice didn’t come back. These rodents carry diseases as you guys well know.
#2. FILTHY bathrooms
I was tricked into taking a room that shared a bathroom on the floor, just like a youth hostel, which I thought I could be fine with in my desperation to drop my stuff & explore NYC asap. These were unlike any hostel I’ve ever been in… There were human feces in the toilet and the toilet was clogged. There was no ventilation, so it was ultra humid. There was standing water next to the toilet & insects. They tried masking the smell and filth of the bathroom by massive amounts of bleach… again, bad for your health to breath this in.
#3. MUSTY air conditioner
It was hot in NYC & I was sweating, so I put on the air conditioner to cool down. Instantly started sneezing and turned it off after a few minutes. I had a headache for the next hour from breathing in whatever dust was spraying out.
#4. SASSY day manager
#5. OVERPRICED — I used the HotelTonight app for the rest of my stay in NY. Guess what? I stayed at what felt like a 5 star hotel (clean, modern art/​furniture, Aveda products in the bathroom) a few blocks away for CHEAPER price than Hotel 309 — No mice, no shared bathroom, etc.
#6. NO WIFI!!! — Yeap, you have to pay to get Wifi
#7. NO ELEVATOR — 5 Floor walk-​up
Overall, this was in fact the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, throughout all my travels in North America, Europe, and Australia.

They have properly corrected their below mistake.
Had a reservation here and they canceled it and did not even offer me a room at their current rate.
The problem was due to their booking software and they offered nothing to make up for the mistake.
They were nice enough to send me an email about the cancelation but did not try one thing to try to keep my business. Over all poor customer service.

We spent the night at hotel 309. The staff were five star and did a great job taking care of us. The room was small but clean. It’s an old building so some things just need to be renovated, but the staff did a great job keeping it neat and tidy. Our room had a little kitchen nook with a large sink, microwave and coffee station. This hotel also has amazing patio space with fun ping pong tables and lounge chairs. I would stay here again.

I checked in for one might. Went out came back and my key didn’t work. they had taken all of my belongings out of the room and put the in a hallway closet. They just decided to switch my room, no explanation or apology. Just «that’s what we do sometimes». This was a $ 220 room after taxes! Are you kidding me?! I recommend planning ahead and going to a reputable place. This is ridiculous. The new room smells like it was recently on fire.

Honestly 1 star is probably too much. More of a hostel than anything else. Recently stay the night, while getting ready to go out to dinner on a Saturday night at 10pm the manager came to the door screaming that he was going to call the cops on my friends and I. When we asked him who he was (He didn’t identify himself) we were told he was the manager so «Shut up.» Apparently we were, «Not allowed to move around» because our heels were making too much noise. Place is dirty, staff is not very friendly.

Let’s be honest, this place is a hostel. Here’s what I got for $ 500.00 for Fri/​Sat night stay:
Dirty bathrooms (they are cleaned once per day, but should be cleaned more often) with pee on the toilet seat and on the floor around the toilet; a bathroom rug by the shower which was always scrunched up in a corner; drips of mystery fluids on the sink; a toilet paper dispenser that flew open every time you tried to get toilet paper from it.
A $ 10 charge to hold my bags once I’d checked out (who DOES that?).
Dark, dingy hallways with a half-​assed paint job and the blue paint tape still stuck to everything.
A window with an air-​conditioner which did nothing to improve airflow into an already stuffy room.
No free Wifi.
I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels throughout Europe and South America, and the quite frankly, the state of the bathrooms in this place was worse than 95% of them. Most places, in South America especially, have a crew that is cleaning pretty much all day long. I actually think this place is one of those «hotels» where people live, just going by how dirty it was.
I won’t stay here again.

Pretty cool hotel. Or should I say hostile… Our room was very comfortable, and cozy. We never had an issue with people making noise, or being loud in the hallways. (I thought it would be.) There were 2 bathrooms on our floor, and they were always clean, and very rarely occupied.
I would defintly go back here to stay when I am in NY. It was close to the subway, walking distance from great shops, Starbucks, and great eateries…
My only downfall was the price. But, it was NY and we were in Chealsea, so I get that…

This place definitely reminded me of the hostels I stayed at while traveling through Europe. The building was old, could use a lot of renovation, and dirty. There wasn’t an elevator and my room was on the third floor. Thankfully, I traveled light and only had a hiking backpack to lug up there. The room was very small and cramped. I didn’t feel comfortable walking around bare foot and I don’t suggest you do either. My room was right next to the private bathroom which was smelly and dirty but at least it was always unoccupied. The heater was cranked up way too high. I had to open the window to let cold air in which also brought in all the wonderful sounds of NY: people shouting, police sirens, cars driving by… etc
There were 2 positive things about this hotel: It was near the subway and it had cheaper prices than most hotels in Manhattan. For a 3 night stay, my total was $ 520.99. Yikes! But that’s New York for ya!
The rooms are very tiny and you’ll probably feel grimy during your stay but at least it’s affordable if all you need is a place to sleep at night. The staff was nice but I didn’t have much interaction with them. Check in and out was also a breeze. If I ever go back to Manhattan, I’d probably tough it out and stay here again if I couldn’t find any place cheaper/​cleaner.

Overall my hotel stay was great. The location was good and I actually found parking very close to the building. The rooms were as advertised. The building was clean and the staff were helpful.
I’ve read some of the other reviews and they must have come at the wrong time or pissed the wrong person off. I can’t say I’ve had the same experience.
I had to pay for the internet but wasnt a big deal. One thing i didnt like is that i could not control the heat. I went to sleep on my night of arrival only to be awaken by the smell of bacon. I jumped up out of my jet lagged slumber with the smell of bacon and burnt hair and realized it was my leg being cooked on the radiator next to the bed! There you go for heat! It was 50 degrees in New York this weekend there was no need to turn the heat to hell!
The location was actually good i found parking (street) in front of the building a couple of days. The stairs? Shit! I was on the fourth floor so that meant stairs. I was praying that a elevator would appear each time i made my ascend to the top of the stairs… same thing everytime no elevator!
The stove the washrooms and the amenities all worked fine. i would stay here again.

I booked Hotel 309 the day I was due to fly out to NYC on business. I waited until the last minute because I was on a daily per-​deim and was in hoping for last minute deals in the city.
I ended up at Hotel 309, which was really reasonable priced ($ 149/​night). When I arrived, I was pleased that it was well lit inside. The outside is not marked noting that the building belongs to Hotel 309, but I had the exact address so I was fine finding the place.
I met the manager (who’s name I unfortunately forgot) who was amazing. He was warm, helpful, and so friendly. Every single day that I walked past him on my way to work, he had a big smile, said hello, and asked me how my stay was. If not for him, I don’t think I would have rated my stay here above 2 stars.
There is NO elevator in this entire building. I stayed on the 4^th floor and the long staircases leading up to my room left me wishing I’d splurged and paid out-​of-​pocket for a nicer place. However, I knew that Hotel 309 didn’t have elevators prior to my arrival, so I wasn’t shocked — just… displeased.
There is a shared bathroom on each floor. Apparently there were 2 bathrooms on my floor, but I just used the bathroom closest to my room and was in luck when it wasn’t occupied each time. The plus was that this bathroom was always pretty clean. The downside was that the cloth shower curtain smelled like urine.
The Room: Good size, way out of date.
The bed was fine, comfortable enough. The pillows were great and very comfy. The bed was made well and the white sheets always looked clean.
The room, overall, looked grimy and I used most all my bath towels as «carpeting» to avoid walking on the floor in my bare feet.
the first night I arrived, I tried to squeeze in between my bed and the wall to open the window only to find that there was no screen. I left it open each day/​night anyway, praying that a squirrel wouldn’t come in while I was sleeping and eat my face.
The kitchen was nice and looked very clean. However, because I had the overall impression that the room was a little grimy anyway, I didn’t use anything in the kitchen but the sink.

The second night I was in, the guests in the room next to mine were BLASTING music. BLASTING. I mean, wow! I waited and waited and waited for management to come up and tell them to turn their music down, but they never did. Thank god I can sleep through anything.
HUGE PLUS: Hotel 309 is in an AWESOME area. Right by the subway (A, C, E, and L, if I remember correctly). Within walking distance of the Meat Packing District and awesome bars and restaurants. Also within steps of the West Village which is my most favorite area of NYC.

I had to find a place to stay in NY last minute so I made an online booking at
and showed up at the hotel/​shady apartment building at 10:30 at night to check in.
First interaction was with a tenant of the building who asked me where my key card was. When I told him I didn’t have a key card yet and that I was trying to check in he gave me a dirty look and said «Well then i’m not letting you in» and closed the door on me.
I ended up buzzing for the front desk but there was no answer. I tried the phone number listed on the plaque and still no answer.
After a few minutes some guy in basketball shorts and a t-​shirt walked down the stairs, looked at me, then went off somewhere towards the back of the first floor. He came back a few minutes later with a No Vacancy sign. I told him through the door that I had a reservation. He shook his head and said they don’t have any more rooms. I finally got him to open the door and showed him the reservation confirmation email. He still didn’t believe me and asked me how long I was staying for. I said just that one night and he said they have a 3 night minimum. I said I booked it on
and that it allowed me to make a one night reservation.
After giving me shit about not having any luggage with me, he agreed to go look in his computer for my reservation.
When he found the reservation, instead of apologizing, he said something like «this hotel is for tourists,» which made no sense, and then asked me if I still wanted a room.
I said, «If I don’t take a room will I get a full refund» because they had my credit card info through
. He said he didn’t charge my card yet so I could just leave.
I resisted (with all my effort) the urge to tell him to go _​_​_​_​_​_​himself and left.
