I absolutely love curry and always get chicken tikka masala. This place did not disappoint!

So happy to have found this place on Unilocal. We ordered chicken 65 and vegetable spring rolls as appetizers. Everything was hot and delicious. I was a little disappointed with the vegetable spring rolls because they were 4 small pieces, however, they tasted good. We shared general tso’s chicken and vegetable hakka noodles for the entrée. The chicken came with rice on the side. I really liked the various indian and chinese options. We got gajar halwa for dessert and it was amazing. Really loved the décor and service. I would definitely come back to try chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and garlic naan as the people sitting next to us ordered it and seemed to love it. Everything was affordable as well. It was about $ 65 for everything, including tip. Overall we were pleased and I would definitely recommend this place.

3.5 out of 5 stars Service is excellent, food just didn’t compare to other Indo-Chinese that I’ve had. Started with chicken lollipops that lots of Unilocalers rave about. The meat was tender and well marinated with spices. Sauce(?mayo and sweet chili sauce) goes really well. I could eat by the spoonful! Veg Hakka noodles tasted good but had more veggies than noodles. Fried rice was delicious, a little too much onion maybe. Sauce for paneer Szechuan wasnt as sweet or tangy as I like similar to General tso’s/garlic sauce, and the paneer was more tough. Food Castle in Philly still #1

Wait what? Did I go to the wrong restaurant? 4.5 stars??? Met up with my girlfriend for Friday night dinner. It was completely empty(I should have known.) We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Kerala Aviyal(mixed vegetables cooked in coconut milk). Sounds harmless, right? I think I could make Chicken Tikka in my sleep. That may have actually been the case at Kurry Pavilion. Ehh… The chicken in the tikka came in huge chunks that were half the size of my palm. Pretty sure you could suffocate a small animal with it. The mixed vegetables, mushy and swimming in a pool of lackluster coconut curry, was one of my least favorite orders at any Indian restaurant to date. The rice, unflavored and lukewarm, tasted like it had been made two days ago. Do yourself a favor and head over to Spice Symphony or MasalaWala. I’m still scratching my head on this one.

THIS! May be the BEST Indian food I have ever had. I fell in love with the spiced coriander mushroom soup, I am already craving their adwhani chicken korma. My compliments to the chef! Excellent service, awesome happy hour. Gem in Kips Bay.

As the only Indian and indo-Chinese fusion in the city, I was excited to eat at Kurry Pavilion. Though I prefer Indian to Chinese food, I found myself sampling dishes I never would have ordered and loving them! Below is a description of the things I tried. Samosas(from the Indian menu)-best I’ve ever had. Not too doughy, plenty of potato and pea filling. Chicken lollipops(from the indo-Chinese menu)-all of the chicken dishes were so moist and flavorful, and this was no exception! Chicken Tikka Masala(Indian) Dal Palek(Indian)-delicious yellow lentil dish with Spinach that was a nice contrast to the spicy crispy chicken. Goan Fish Curry(Indian)-everyone at my table loved this. Crispy Chicken(indo-Chinese)-my surprise favorite of the night! Despite being covered in a delicious chili sauce, the chicken was ultra-crispy. It had just the right amount of spice. Vegetable Delight-SO flavorful. Great way to get your veggies in! I would definitely recommend this dish. The food was great, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. By the time I left around 8, the restaurant was almost full. Obviously it’s a popular spot! I loved that they had a window into the kitchen at which you could watch the chef cook the naan in a tandoor oven. It was fascinating to watch and not something I’ve seen in other Indian restaurants!

Well normally my stomach has a negative reaction to Indian food but this time, I was fine and safe. Thank you for the generous feast to the owner and 1947 beer. It was wonderful being a guest at your restaurant. Back into the meal, the chicken lollipop is my favorite as for the appetizer. Accompanied by this chipotle like sauce, it tastes spicy yet sweet. I love the combo. Samosa is a bit smaller than my usual one but it’s well favored. Out of all the dishes we were fed, I love the yellow lentils which is pack with herb and mix veggie. Since this place has some Indo Chinese food mix. I am not a fan of any chinese dish with«too much» sauce. As my fellow diner agreed, the sauce is overwhelming and the chicken is just a bit too small for the extra amount of batter on it. As for the fish and chicken tika masala, they were delicious. I think they should just stay with Indian food. 1947 is not to my tasting. But that’s me. If you like say mid flavor beer like Heineken or Samuel, this will be your stuff. I like mostly lighter German beer. As I can tell, the restaurant has a bar with wine and spirit. My fellow diners love their mango drink and may they can spike it that. Thank you again

Went here for dinner over the weekend. Their air conditioning only cools the back dining room, so it’s best to sit there. We weren’t able to get a table in that room, so we sat in a boiling hot room. We were literally sweating at the table. Others were using napkins to fab themselves. There was also a water leak from the ceiling and a bucket collecting water. The food was average or even slightly below. We ordered Indian Chinese and the curries were watery. Spice Symphony just a few blocks away is much better.

I really like this place a lot. I’ve ordered from here about 5 times and each time it is consistently delicious. My faves are the hakka noodles and the chicken korma. The noodles are always cooked to perfection and has lots of fresh crispy veggies and a good amount of chicken. The chicken korma is always well spiced and the chicken nice and tender. The rice is perfection also. Just wish they’d give a little bit more in the take out orders :) Also I have never dined in. Just did take out. But the staff and the owner in particular is so welcoming, friendly and polite.

Came here with a large group(15 total) for a birthday celebration, so we were seated in a private(ish) back alcove. probably more for the benefit of others than for us, because I thought our group got quite rowdy as the dinner went on. The staff was very courteous and attentive, and they make really a commendable attempt at upscale service, even though I’d put them in the more casual range of restaurants(especially for NYC). To drink, we ordered a bottle of the Syrah($ 38?) to share — which was a perfect amount for four individuals. To eat, we tried two items off of the Indo-Chinese list of items on the back of the menu, the paneer szechuan and the vegetable manchurian. I also had a bit of lamb off of a friend’s dish and tried one of the chicken appetizers. Everything was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the texture of the veggie dumplings, and thought it went well with the viscous sauce. I also enjoyed the lamb, even though I’m not typically a huge fan of this particular type of meat. Every entrée comes with a serving of rice, and they are happy to bring you more if you need. Unfortunately, even though Indian food tends to be heavy, I felt like the portions were rather meager, and I was mostly trying to fill myself up on sauce and rice. By default, I think most of their entrees tend to be spicy. The paneer szechuan definitely had a big kick to it… thankfully the vegetable manchurian was not spicy at all. If you are not a huge fan of spicy foods, you should definitely ask the servers to recommend non-spicy dishes for you! At the end of the meal, they prepared a small complimentary dessert for the birthday boy, which was much appreciated! I knocked off a few stars because I’m not sure the costly meal was worth its value. I think we ended up each paying $ 46 each(splitting the birthday boy’s meal), and I didn’t feel particularly satisfied with my dinner. Although, this could have been because of all of the drinks that others were ordering at the table. Honestly, I could have probably eaten another whole meal afterwards!

WE went here for the lunch buffet and told them that we were vegetarians. Asked to see what they had that was veg., and instead the little girl pointed out everything that was NOT veg. Well whatever. Won’t eat here again. Get a bigger veg selection for the lunch buffet. Don’t try to get the vegetarians to pay for the 3 different kinds of chicken you serve. Blah…

I’m awarding four stars. I think this restaurant is very good, but not perfect. – Happy hour goes for a couple of hours to 7:00 p.m. We showed up at 7:07. «Too late,» the waitress said. «Plus you have to sit at the bar.» Call me petty, but If three people are ordering full meals — and the place is not busy — surely management could make concessions. – I also think that the restaurant can serve gratis papadum and the usual relish and sauce found at other Indian restaurants. Now that I’ve vented, on to the nitty-gritty. We started with what’s called ‘potato chops” filled with minced lamb. I’m not a lamb-eater, but I found these pretty darned good. My daughter always goes for chicken kurma, and Kurry Pavilion’s didn’t disappoint. T. had lamb kabobs — «excellent!» — he proclaimed. And I switched things up. I almost always get chicken tika., but our waitress suggested something similar. Marinated in what could have been avacodo, the kabobs were green. Tasted similar to my ‘usual’ but subtly different and good, though a tad undercooked.(I probably should have sent them back for another couple of minutes in the tandoor) The garlic naan may have been the best I’ve ever had. We ordered a $ 30 bottle of cab. «Sold out,» our waitress said. She offered a $ 36 bottle of something else. I asked her to check with management to see what we could have for $ 30 — I don’t like to be upsold — and she came back with a nice bottle of pinot noir. With the plethora of Indian restaurants in the area, each one has to measure up. A few kinks with Kurry Pavilion, but all-in-all a restaurant I’d come back to.

I normally do not have Indian food for lunch break, but this place has just became one on my list. This third street restaurant is tiny but very well organized. All the staffs, regardless if they service your table, are very kind and friendly. It took us a while to debate whether we should have ordered dish or buffet and the lady was patiently walked us through. We finally pick the buffet and tried multiple exceptional dishes. The grilled chicken leg is very well seasoned and grilled perfectly. The curry lamb is a little dry but the flavor is good. The most impressive one is the curry chicken plus sweet sauce on nann. I wish I can go more often in the future if my stomach can handle these spices better. Highly recommended.

RECOMMENDED Today, on 4/21, I had a very nice Buffet Lunch($ 10.99) at Kurry Pavilion. Kurry Pavilion is a relative new Indian restaurant in Murray(Curry) Hill. The restaurant is located on the corner of Third Avenue and East 30th Street. It is a long, attractive, narrow rectangular space. The«wall’ along East 30th Street doubles as a series of windows. I chose to sit near one of the open windows, giving me a semi-al fresco dining experience on a gorgeous Spring day. Upon arrival, the young female server greeted me warmly and courteously. Since I had never been to the restaurant she walked me back to the buffet area which is located to the rear of the restaurant, closer to Park Avenue South. The buffet area was neat and clean, with about 6 – 8 selections in retractable stainless steel containers. The Naan Bread was not there. The server brought it to my table and it was fresh, warm and delicious… Atkins haters, take note. I sampled a little bit of everything(Chicken Tikka Masala, Basmati Rice, Aloo Gobi, Spinach Paneer, a Yellow Dal dish and some type of mild pea curry which I could not identify). I particularly enjoyed the CTM. The CTM tray contained plenty of good quality, free of visible fat white meat chicken. The gravy had a very deep tomato taste, reminiscent of a good Italian ragu. It was very mildly spiced. The Spinach Paneer was also very good. I made a second run at the buffet and snatched a small iceberg salad and a «Land of the Giants» Tandoori Chicken leg. I enjoyed both items. One notable thing about this buffet is that all of the food tasted strikingly fresh. Kudos to those controlling quality. Kurry Pavilion is a great buffet option in Curry rating is derived from the fact that my experience was very comparable to the one I had at a nearby competitor. Hence… the same rating. The food could use a little more spice. If there had been a solid lamb option in the buffet or an Indian/Chinese dish such as Chili Lamb, Kurry Pavilion would have earned another half star. Nevertheless, I’m eager to lunch here again.

Kurry Pavilion is an Indian restaurant in Kip’s Bay. It’s hard to miss. The restaurant is located on the corner of 30th St and 3rd Ave. Windows wrap around the restaurant, so it’s easy to have a window table! They serve your typical Indian fare, along with an Indo-Chinese section if you want to add some Chinese to your meal. The food is decent, but I would rather come here to snag a great table with not a lot of noise and much needed elbow room. Another thing of note is great service — kind and attentive staff.

I have always been looking for a decent indo chinese place. Someone had recommended Nanking but I have not liked any of their 3 locations. I was hoping this would b the end of my search. It was not. The ambience though is pretty good. Staff is courteous. Food just does not do the trick. Unfortunately!

Kurry Pavilion is one of the few places in the city that offers Indo-Chinese cuisine and since I was craving that we decided to check this place out. Their menu consists of traditional Indian food options as well as Indo-Chinese plates. We came on a Saturday night for dinner and didn’t have to wait for our table which was awesome. I really liked the décor and ambiance of this place. It was perfect for a date night outing and unlike most places that serve Indian food, this place did not have an overwhelming food smell. We ordered the Vegetarian Samosas for an appetizer. They were alright – not as flavorful as traditional Indian samosas but still had the right crispy and flakiness on the outside with an okay potato/pea filling. For dinner, we got the Vegetarian Manchurian, Chilli Paneer, and Garlic Naan. The meals also came with a side of rice. To sum up the food, it was just Okay. None of the plates were particularly exceptional but nothing bad either. They weren’t as spicy and rich in flavor as I’ve had at other places but were still decent. I’m guessing they’ve catered their flavoring based on their clientele. They definitely had good service. The waiter was always checking on us and they even had an offer on Unilocal for 20% off your entire bill which they honored.

Exceeded expectations! This is a spacious restaurant with a cozy feel, delicious food, and excellent service. We ordered the dal palak, chicken garlic noodles, and the cheese kulcha. Dal palak was my favorite! It was very flavorful. Lentils were well cooked, and the spinach was creamy. It went perfectly with he cheese kulcha, which is basically cheese naan. The cheese kulcha was good on its own too, perfectly warm with a generous amount of cheese. The garlic chicken noodles were just okay though. Chicken was a bit dry, and the dish just wasn’t very memorable. I think this place has better Indian options than Chinese. Our waiters were exceptionally sweet and friendly! They hung up my coat for me and made no fuss when I requested to change seats since ours in a heated area that was too warm. Also checked in on Unilocal for 20% off — great deal! I’d definitely come back in the future.

Great new restaurant that opened up around the corner. Almost 5-star worthy and am definitely going to come back to try other items. My friend and I decided to check this place out because I’ve been meaning to since they opened. The ambiance is unique — very modern décor and looks super nice. Even their white plates and silver cutlery were shiny and spotless. As another Unilocaler mentioned, definitely get a window seat… decent people watching and it’s a fairly quiet restating. The bar set up is a bit weird. It’s a super nice, dark wood, bar with two TVs playing sports, but there’s no alcohol… yet. I’m sure it’ll be nice once there is alcohol because I can’t think of another Indian restaurant with a bar and/or TVs. It’ll feel like home again haha. The wait staff is super friendly and pleasant. I ordered the tandoor vegetables and my friend got the gobi Manchurian, as he was craving Indo-Chinese. Tandoor vegetables — they were tasty and grilled to perfection, but a bit dry for me. I added a lot of the sauce that they provided which was delicious, esp the tangy one. It came with some basmati rice to eat it with. The onions were very pungent and the green peppers were nice and crispy. The broccoli was probably my favorite. The paneer were large thick cubes that were dry and you had to cut into pieces and drench with sauce… didn’t get much of the tandoor taste. Gobi Manchurian — I only had a couple bites from my friend, but it was on point. Spicy, the way I like it, and the sauce was delicious. Overall, a solid spot and I’ll definitely be back to try other options.
