This is a very cute store with adorable clothing. The service is friendly. The reasons why I didn’t give this store more stars is because it is very pricey with a limited selection. The clothing is also cut very small.

I prefer this shop over the flagship store downtown due to better customer service. They have a lot of fabric and a lot of clothing and goods. Not as much as the flagship store, but much less crowded as well. Best time to shop? The sale when they have decent mark downs.

«A creative mess is better than tidy idleness.» ~Author Unknown Note to designers, needle pushers and quilters: this store sells funky-cool Finnish threads(and much more) that you won’t find in other fabric stores. I have not been there in years, but they take online orders and the shipping is wicked fast.

Love the designs here. Quality pieces but definitely on the pricier side, hence the UES location! It’s a much smaller store than I anticipated as I had the image of the Vancouver location pictured in my head. But despite the size, they offer a good selection of products. You have to like bright colours and bold patterns if you want to shop here.

Marimekko makes the best textiles — everything in this small space is brightly-colored and fun. I love the pillow covers and baby clothes in particular.

MARIMEKKO: This has been the definition of design in my family since I was but a wee child, unable to grasp the complexities of style as my mother got dressed to go out at night or my father pulled out another brightly colored kitchen or bath item for our apartment. Finally, on the day I received MY first Marimekko item I realized that Marimekko was a designer and not some crazy word to describe the style my parents adored(as I do now). NYC is blessed to have this boutique — the only other US locations are in Cambridge, MA and Miami, FL(although there are a fair number of stores that stock some Marimekko products across the US). The small store is filled with the Scandinavian designs, including clothing, bags, umbrellas, towels, table settings and kitchen items, and just the textiles themselves you can buy by the yard!!! Its so tempting to try and grab several designs I love just to make awesome throw pillow covers, but I don’t trust myself to do the designs justice with my meager sewing attempts(plus, how do I choose?!). Its a GREAT place to pick up a small gift for people — I never fail when I choose from among their umbrellas, which have become my standard. The salespeople are also fantastic — very polite, friendly, but they give you space to peruse the store and only approach when you look like you need help(or you ask). And they’re so easy to engage in conversation, my dad loves to chat them up when he’s getting something there. They’re also very accommodating — when my mom got my dad some shirts as a gift, she wasn’t sure of the size, so they held the other size for her in case my dad wanted to exchange(which he did)! This is such a great place, I wish it was bigger so they could stock more, but that might lead to me NEVER leaving the store.

Granted I love anything Scandinavian, but I seriously want everything in this store. EVERYTHING. Deliciously colorful textiles and clothing, handbags for every function, and scores of home décor items that are nearly irresistible. I went in specifically for a bag I’d seen online. They didn’t have it yet, but the salesperson took down my name, phone number and the item #/color and called me a few weeks later when they came in. She even gave me a heads up that I should probably come soon since they might sell out. Good service. Good design. Five stars.

Marimekko is chic! New York shopping at it’s best. I love the modern sensibility and the fashion forward aesthetic in every area from home fabrics to clothing and glass and tableware. Make this a must see and treat yourself to European excellence. You will notice Marimekko designs at Crate and Barrel.

Can I just say how excited I was to go to this store?! I tried to go here, once before, and I ran out of time, but the second time I went to NYC I was bound and determined to see this store in real life! And once I got there it met my expectations! They had clothes, fabric, purses, socks, kitchen items, etc. and I was in hog heaven! I spent more money here than anywhere as I am a devoted fan of Marimekko! If you love design like I do, you will definitely love this place. Check out their website– you will not be disappointed!

I don’t know decorating. Not at all. So this review is mostly for the service. The folks there were very helpful when my g/f and I went in to pick out some fabric to spruce up the apartment. They helped us through making decisions, patiently unspooling and respooling various options. They were also kind enough to point out on which patterns the repeat line showed up, and where was the best place to get strecher bars. They helped make what could have been a painful experience(for me) less so.
