I like this place! Stumbled upon it a few months ago as it’s just a hop skip and a jump from my office. It’s definitely old-school. They never seem busy and the one guy always laments how awful business is, so maybe they won’t be around for much longer. The current lineup is the boss guy(I don’t know his name, though from earlier reviews I guess it’s Joe); ‘Tony Mambo’, a skinny-as-a-rail older guy with some interesting hair; and Lily, a no-nonsense Russian lady. Everyone is nice and gives a decent haircut. $ 15 plus $ 5 tip is very reasonable for NYC to say the least.

Great haircut. I get the same quality haircut here for $ 15. I stopped going to a salon I had been going to for a few years and switched to here. I usually call for an appointment, but. Drop-ins are ok.

First off, I found this place in 42 Broadway, lower level. Guess that there is an entrance on two sides of the block. I was not too choosey — just give me a quick buzz cut. It was decent but hurried. I have had better. But my hair will survive and if I go back the guy there can learn my preferences. Four chairs, only the one guy at 7:45 this morning. The place looks a little run down but I don’t much care about that. $ 12 is dirt cheap so I left a $ 20.

I have been using New Street Barber shop for about 15 years. Joe always gives a great haircut, and he has a friendly word or two for regulars and walk-ins alike. This is a basic place. A throwback to other times when quality and value mattered more than trend and flash. Come down and see how old Wall Street still lives on.
