Amazing food!!! Very small place which isn’t «obviously» attractive but this is one of my favorites. Yummy beer too :)

Okay so admittedly we had a huge group but come on. I walked in to ask if we could fit 9 people and before I could finish my sentence she cut me off with a «No…». Um okay, screw you then. Our Chinese tourist family waited outside for a few minutes for a group of 4 to leave and then we stormed in splitting our group into 2, 2, and 5, filling up the restaurant. Yeah that’s right lady, you’ll have our business whether you like it or not. The sign in front said free salad with a lunch special from 1−3pm. They didn’t give us any so I asked and they said that we had too many people and they were out of salad. It was 1:20pm. Really? Well screw you I don’t like salad anyways. Part of me wishes this place had bad food so I could just give it a terrible review, but the food turned out to be great. The Pad Thai had the perfect balance of sweet and sour, though it was missing the usual red color that you see at other places. The Pad See’ew was great, the noodles were fantastic but they only gave me 4 pieces of shrimp. I should’ve gone for the beef. A bunch of us ordered the Pad Prik Khing, which was delicious. I normally don’t hate on the service at Asian restaurants but the waitress here really hurt our experience at a place that had otherwise great food. I’d suggest ordering takeout to avoid interacting with her.

I was intrigued by this Thai restaurant that didn’t use the word«Basil» in it. Satisfactory food. It was done well, no more and no less. For our appetizers, we ordered the TODMUNPLA. The fish cakes were deep fried(sin crusty breading) and served with a sweet sauce. It wasn’t thrilling or anything special. Just fish cakes. We also had the PLAMUKTOD(fried calamari). It was pleasing. Not chewy or rubbery at all when we had it, but it wasn’t the most tender or flavorful. I was craving something spicy(as usual) for my entrée so I had the PADPRIKKHING with DUCK, which is one of my favorite curries in Thai cuisine. It was well done here: spicy, great ginger flavor, and a hint of lemongrass. Downside? Too much oil(See picture). I tried my friend’s PADBAIGAPROW(that sounds dirty now that I’m reading that back). He had it with pork. It may be because I was eating my dish prior but the flavors in his entrée was lacking. I also tried my other friend’s WHOLEDEEPFRIEDREDSNAPPER and it was fried adequately enough to create a crispy crust on the outside without sapping the entire fish of its moisture. Delectable. They also had two Thai beers in house. I had the SINGHA: a lager-style beer. It was light and wheat, and it cut through the strong spices without the flavors conflicting. Last words: An appeasing Thai restaurant that does certain dishes better than others. With an overabundance of Thai restaurants in the city, I’m most likely not going to come back since there are so many to try and there wasn’t a dish here I couldn’t find done as well somewhere else. Olieng needs to step up if it wants to stand out from the mob that is the Thai restaurant scene in the city.

In my friend’s word, their food is very homie. Definitely delicious. I rarely see restaurant veggie taste like steamed and crunchy with that freshness feel. With a simple meal goes for around 15 to 18 per person, it’s relatively cheaper for midtown standard. I am surprised that it’s not crowded on a Friday night with such a small place. They have very few seats(15ish) and with very small table size. If you were to come here for a small group or a casual date I would suggest that. Overall, the staffs are friendly and definitely worth going back again for lunch or dinner.

The place is super small from inside… As always I was ordering take out… Tod Mun Pla & Pad Kee Mow It was definitely good… was it the best I have had in NYC… not really… Everyone was friendly… price was so/so… food wise solid and decent… and they listened to the fact I wanted it very spicy… extra star just for that… There isn’t much to write as it wasn’t a memorable meal. just good standard NYC Thai food…

I went here for a Thursday afternoon late lunch with a friend after an event at the Javits Center(I won’t embarrass myself by saying which). The service was quick although originally they messed up my friends convoluted order at first. He had to send it back because his request for Red Chicken Curry with no Rice and Extra Vegetables was interpreted as Red Vegetable Curry with No Rice. I blamed him for not speaking clearly, but he stuck to the«customer is always right» motto. The food was the normal quality you expect from Thai places in Hell’s Kitchen and the prices were reasonable as well. The restaurant itself is rather small so don’t expect to be able to sit a large group. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the mood for Thai.

This 5-star review is based purely on the fact that I was served the most delicious Pad See Ew I have ever eaten in my life. It was soooooo good. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The flavor was great. They used chinese broccoli instead of regular broccoli which is always a plus in in my book. And to top it all off, this plate of deliciousness cost less than $ 10. What? Mind blown. The end.

Great little whole in the wall for some amazing Thai. I had the Red Curry and holy cow was it perfection. The spice was just amazing but not spicy where I couldn’t taste what I was eating. And where there is spice there is a need for water — luckily they kept my glass full. . They don’t ask for how many stars of spicy you want — so if you think you can’t handle some delicious spicy — make sure you let them know. It’s tiny spot, so if you get their at a peak time chances are you will have to wait. But the food is cheap, delicious and spice with a nice KICK so it;s totally worth the wait.

I have never given out a five star review before, but this place deserves it. I almost didn’t find the place, but boy am I happy I did. I took my girlfriend there, and the waiter seated us next to the heater on the wall, which was very nice of him. We both got a glass of wine($ 5!!!) and the chicken satay appetizer. The chicken satay was only $ 6 and extremely light and refreshing as a precursor for our main meal. I got the Pad Prew Warn with chicken. It was perfect! Just the right balance of salty and sweet, and the rice was served on the side, so as not to absorb the sauce and ruin the dish prematurely. My girlfriend got the Pad Kee-Mow which has lots of fish which I do not eat, but said it was amazing as well. The waiter was very attentive the whole meal. The best and last part came with the Sticky Rice with Mango. This was the best desert I have ever had in Manhattan, and I am a foodie. The rice was borderline hot and steamy, with a salty sweet medium about it. It was drizzled in a light coconut milk surrounded by an ocean of freshly cut, and perfectly in season mango. App, entrée, desert, and 2 glasses of wine for under $ 50 in manhattan? Priceless. I will be coming here A LOT more. A true gem.

The call came in for me to assist in a blog reworking for an artist friend of mine and after a couple of hours of ideas and renovation the need for food was paramount and my friend wanted to treat me for the quick assistance. I’m always game for that and when she suggested a Thai place that I had not yet sampled, I knew this was a grand idea. It was almost 8pm or so when we got there and its a very small place with only about five tables, so its a roll of the dice if you will be seated depending on what time you arrive. If you live close by then you can always grab something as take out. It was a brutal cold night but we decided to sit near the window as the radiator was right there and made it comfortable. Despite the cold I ordered up a Saigon beer and now it was onto the food. As I didn’t feel like dumplings this evening I opted for the recommended fried calamari and chuckled at the aspect of being served a very Italian dish that was not reworked at all. It did have a chili-styled dipping sauce. I admit it was very tasty. For the main course I stuck with a favorite standard of mine in Chicken Pad Thai and I dosed it with hot sauce since I was just craving a spark in the dish this evening. It was wonderful and I practically inhaled it. I don’t remember what my friend had but she keeps vegetarian and I believe had some sort of tofu dish. She did love it and said how she comes here again and again so my guess is that their vegetarian fare is to be commended. No dessert for us but oh yes to another Saigon. I sure didn’t want to feel the cold on the walk to the subway home. Great place, if I am ever right down here again I will surely mark it as a good choice. Take my word for it.

I have tried so many places in Hells Kitchen. Olieng Thai will be one of my other favorite now! Recommended by Lori, I ordered the shrimp pad thai medium spicy. I had pretty high expectation with Olieng Thai because it’s located in Hells kitchen. It’s really small and I will consider it’s a hole in a wall. I am really happy that Olieng Thai did not disappoint me. With less than 10 dollars. I really love the shrimp pad thai. It’s not as oily as other restaurant Thai restaurant. With a dash of lime. It made the pad thai just perfect. And for the very first time. It’s actually SPICY!!! That’s what I love about it. My friend’s pad kee mao came out to be really good as well. not a huge fan of flat noodle. but I still took a few bites of it. We also ordered vegetable dumplings to start of. Vegetable dumpling was ok but clearly not my favorite. I guess this is why I took a star off. Overall, I really like Olieng Thai!

I was very disappointed with my Thai food here. I ordered pad see ew with beef(my usual) and found that the noddles were mushy and congealed. The beef was average at best. The restaurant is cute – I liked all the writing on the wall, but it is in an inconvenient location for me and not very good. I will not be back.

The beef pat see ewe was ok, but my friend did like the gravy noodle dish. We brought our own bottle for a $ 7 corkage fee, which still saves in $. No one was in the restaurant when we went inside but afterwards, it was packed(small spot). I guess we got the party started!

This was a nice little, hole in the wall spot that I found while wondering around Hell’s Kitchen. When I say«little», I mean«tiny». I tried the Gaeng Panang, and it was very delicious. Even finished up all the gravy with a spoon! Skip the Thai Iced Tea. It wasn’t as good as I expected. The people that work here are very friendly, but they barely speak any english.

Yummiiinesss!!! Delicious food, delicious fried ice cream and awesome service on a Saturday afternoon. Such a little hole in the wall though. My only complaint: My friend and I ordered the exact same dish and my portion was a bit smaller, and I would have really loved some more noodles: D

We came about an hour before they closed to find the small restaurant full. Waited 5 minutes and was seated after a party of 4 left. The first impression you get of this place is that is feels really homey, just like how a neighborhood joint should be like. We ordered the Koong Kabok to start with. It is essentially deep-fried shrimp & ground chicken wrapped with rice papers, then served with sweet & sour sauce. It looked interesting on the menu because of its cone shaped but it’s aiite. We didn’t care too much for the sauce since it’s the typical sweet & sour. Not a bad appetizer to share. We ordered the Pad Kee Mow, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew to share. We were all craving noodles and it somehow ended up this way: P We did like the noodles. The Pad Kee Mow wasn’t spicy enough for me, but you can definitely taste the wok. What I meant is that sometimes when dishes are wokked, you can taste that the dish is cooked with a burner with high BTU and gives it an unique flavor! The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew is the same, great wok flavor. Pad Thai wasn’t overly sweet like some Thai joints which is good since sometimes it can taste too artificial with all the«orange» sauce used. Pad See Ew looked oddly similar to Pad Kee Mow. Lots of veggies and again, great wok flavor which is important since pad see ew is generally lighter in flavor compared to other noodle dishes. We expected the Red Ocean Fried Rice to be a little more spicy. Solid fried rice though and would order this over the noodles. We also had a bit of Laab, and that was probably the best dish we tried that night. Strong flavors and just mouth watering. Could not stop eating it. I also had a Thai Iced Tea and that turned out to be whatevers. Definitely had better. While the entrees and dishes we tried were pretty good, others didn’t impress us as much. Still, good joint with reasonable price!

Decent Thai food in NYC, but it is an incredibly small restaurant, can’t be more than 20×100, and seats maybe 15 at most. Started with the Tom Yum soup, the lemon overpowered the entire broth. For the main course I had the yellow curry, which was good but the potatoes were undercooked. For dessert, the fried bananas, rice pudding, and fried ice cream were all delicious. I would try a few more restaurants before coming back, but I feel that it was fairly authentic.

This place is a hole in the wall. It’s very small, but don’t let it fool you. The place is pretty legit with the thai food. The thai iced coffee and thai iced tea are very sweet and refreshing. The coffee is solid, not too milky. The food you can get with a spiciness to your taste. The fried calamari here is great. The chicken with pad bai ga prow is solid, especially if you get it spicy. It has great heat. This place can be very a very tight fit for a large group, but it is intimate for a couple. Solid choice in the area filled with Thai places.
