I bookmarked this place today morning and came here for lunch. That’s a good days work The food here is spot on. I’m a thai junkie. I’ll eat thai food anywhere anytime. There’s lots of hype about the oxtail soup. Even on the menu it was recommended by NY Times. Very fancy The oxtail soup was spectacular. The portion was so huge! I wanted to go to sleep immediately afterwards. I had also gotten the Tom Yom soup and the calamari. Tom Yom soup was tangy and full of acidity as it should be. Calamari was hot and really crispy. I’m guessing it just came out of the fryer. Really good food. I’d certainly come back again. Just for that oxtail soup.

I have never been so upset with a delivery before. I pretty much use seamless 5 days out of the week ordering from different restaurants. I’ve had deliveries that were late over an hour late and delivery guys that call because they were lost, but I’ve never had a delivery guy call screaming for directions. First, he did not speak English, so he was screaming. Second, I got a Spanish speaking person to talk to him, but he was also screaming at her. So it seems apparent that he has no manners nor should he be a delivery man being that he doesn’t know his left from his right. After we gave him directions(which is not hard being that I am located across from radio city), he calls back 15 minutes later screaming«you come to 45 building. I don’t know where you.» Whatever that means and hangs up on me. At this point I’m livid, so I call Pam Thai, filled the person in on what happened and she just stutters and says sorry. Does not try to rectify anything and does not say she will take action. Whilst complaining to the lady, in walks the delivery man with a pissed off looking face. Seriously? What are you mad about? Your job is to deliver food and if you can’t find the place, you ask people around you. Oh but then again your attitude is horrible so people probably ignore you. After this whole ordeal, I’m pretty much full from the bullshit, but decided to humor myself and eat the food while reading the reviews on here. Lo and behold what do I read? Plenty reviews on how the delivery guy sucks! It doesn’t even matter if the food is good(which by the way, your beef taste like jerky) I would never order here again because of that delivery guy. Pam Thai, I suggest you hire a new delivery guy that has a sense of direction(or a smartphone) and has some sort of manners.

I hadn’t been to Pam for a few years and decided to give it a try again. Result: disappointment. All 4 dishes we tried were very very ordinary. Penang Curry Chicken was just bell peppers and overcooked white-meat chicken… so tasteless and ordinary. Beef salad was boring and listless, with beef that was perhaps boiled or steamed: bland and overcooked. Worse than most thai food in the neighborhood. Pam used to be special, years ago, but now gone downhill. So sad. The food was not«bad» in the sense that you send it back, or complain to the waiter. Just listless and same-same.

Finally after some time I managed to try out this place! Main reason why I haven’t checked this place for so long is, there are so many delicious Thai options near where I live right now — i.e. Queens, and I’m always kind of not really in the mood of dragging my lazy ass to other borough unless there is a good reason to. Thankfully I happened to be near Hell’s Kitchen on Saturday so I decided to give this place a shot. Started with a fried taro appetizer(not in picture). The fried taros were good, but I did not remember it being memorable. The sauce that supposedly to be its dipping sauce is too sweet for me and I just feel like something is not quite right with the combination. Then I tried the green curry fried rice with shrimp. I found the rice was a little too tough for me. I understand that typically fried rice is best with left over rice, however, still it is not an excuse to overcook/undercook it. Another issue that I have with this dish is that I feel like as a «fried» rice, I expect some sort of smokiness/char that comes as a result of frying, however, I could not find it in this dish. I feel that this dish is basically green curry that has been mixed together with a white rice. Perhaps I suggest renaming this dish to green curry rice? However, the green curry flavor on this dish is quite tasty, I have to say. Finally, the pricing is very reasonable here for Manhattan area(my large portion fried rice is $ 10 and they are quite generous with the amount of shrimp & appetizer is $ 4 for 6 squares of fried taro). Based on the my last dining, I will say this is a 3-star experience overall, but I certainly more likely to return here than the nearby Pure Thai. Maybe I’ll get the oxtail soup that everyone is raving about next time I’m here Anyhow, Queens Thai restaurant rules!

A very strong Thai place. There are seven thousand thai places in Hell’s Kitchen, and this is one of the very best. Authentic thai dishes as well as the classics done correctly. The Thai beef jerky is outstanding. The seafood dishes and the various thai salads are quite good. Definitely coming back here.

I bookmarked Pam Real Thai for quite some time now and today I finally made my way over. Let me first say; I am a huge fan of Authentic Thai food and this place for sure hit the spot. This is no fancy spot where you can take to impress your guest or lover, but the food here is definitely worth showing off. The restaurant interior was pretty basic, but besides that, I’m all in when it comes to mouth watering spicy foods. –Oxtail soup was amazing. Packed with different spices and flavors. So delicious. –Fermented fish kidney curry is legitimately a Thai dish. The server informed us that the dish is pretty potent but that wasn’t a problem at all. It contained shrimp, eggplant, bamboo, etc. –Fried whole fish was my least favorite. On the bright side this dish is covered in mangos. YUM! Prices are reasonably. Especially in HK. I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other dishes!

I’ve been to Pam’s about 8 – 10 times. Mostly it’s fantastic and sometimes outstanding. It’s def the best Thai in NYC, my two cents. We have some great ones closer to us, but Pam’s is worth the extra effort to get there. From my experience, it really depends on what you order. We always get the fish cakes. The flavor is always wonderful. The crab rice is insanely good. The khao soi gai is outstanding. Pam’s khao soi gai is the best I’ve had, ever. Pam’s is also very inexpensive. The place is funky and a bit worn, but it’s perfect that way because it has personality. It’s authentic and a delight, including the year-round Christmas lights.

Best oxtail soup and spicy catfish. Authentic Thai food from Prik King(green beans with either chicken or beef curry. You can taste the lemon kafir leaf flavor and Thai chill. Good portion are quite a lot. I usually ended taking food home for yummy leftovers. Been there many times and it’s my Sunday must after walking around the City before going on shopping spree.

Ok, I am so mad at myself for not having tried this place sooner. AMAZING flavors, fantastic value, and a friendly staff. Don’t be fooled by the ambiance which is not inviting so I ordered take out. You will be sorry if you don’t try their food. I ordered 2 large soups(chicken tum yum and tam kah kai). Let me tell you, there was soooo much mushroom and chicken in the coconut soups-nothing like I’ve ever had before).-keep in mind the soups were very reasonable at $ 7 each and amazing flavors. The papaya salad was a large portion for less than $ 6. And the amazing pad kee mao, flat noodles with onion, bell peppers and your choice of meat was heavenly for $ 8. Oh and don’t forget Thai ice tea for $ 2.50 which was perfect and not too sweet. This is a must must go to place!

I’m not good at pronouncing Thai foods let alone remember them. I got a shrimp soup without noodles and I will never get that again, it was super tart, bitter and salty, all I ate from it was the shrimp and mushrooms. I saw a good picture of a shrimp soup with noodles on Unilocal and tried finding it on the menu… apparently I didn’t find the correct one… What I did successfully find was the fried curry things and they were pretty good. Didn’t have much curry flavor and no spiceyness. The sauce was refreshing, not sure what it was but it was a light, clear sauce with cucumbers floating around in it. A+. The rest of my party had some good stuff. I didn’t get woo’d by the oxtail soup but the flat noodles that tasted just like Lo mein was pretty good. The bathrooms were spooky, you had to go into the back of the resturant intersecting the basement and the kitchen. There was a traffic jam when I was leaving the bathroom. Overall just not a great bathroom. Water was refilled pretty consistantly. Can’t stress how polite the lady waitress was. TL;DR –very nice staff –sketchy bathroom –good fried curry bites

For a simple, authentic, & yummy Thai meal, try CHILITHAI around the corner. They are my favorite now. I ordered PINEAPPLEFRIEDRICE but rice was soggy & bland(rice was def not fried) with a tiny bit of soy sauce for color. Very few specs of vegetables or pineapples & some shrimp. I searched CRABRANGOON(cheese filled wontons) in menu items & the result was HAEKERN(I thought this was the proper Thai name & description) but unfortunately it was something completely different. Small oily, golden brown, deep fried patties of meat with sweet sauce. Completely not what I ordered & not what I was expecting. I would not order these items again.

I’ve been coming here for about 8 years off and on and I still love this place. Stumbled in the other night after seeing a show last night. The tom yum is flavorful, a little salty but satisfying — not quite spicy enough for me. Thai ice tea was one of the best I’ve had lately. Pad Thai killed it — super delicious, fresh ingredients — note to self level 4 spicy is a little over the edge, stick with 3. They don’t make Thai this good in Brooklyn. I’ve missed you Pam Real!

I heard about this place from a buzzfeed article that recommended their oxtail soup, that was amazing, but that was last year. This year I tried their red shrimp curry and their vegetarian noodles and they were also most satisfying. Cooked, as far as I could tell, to authentic standards.

One of my favorites in Hells Kitchen. Fun and friendly staff. And the food is really solid. I would have given them 5 stars but last time I had the red curry with beef, there was a lot of gristle in the meat. I’m giving you a pass this once! Use a better cut of beef next time!

I went with my friend and her 2 years old son. Even when he spills water and food, they were smiling and help to clean the table. Their service was amazing. Food is good too. It was little salty for us, but because we had a great time, I will give them 4 stars!

Got the mixed seafood pad Thai. Very yummy. I actually ordered from Unilocal and they had it all ready for me to pick up when I came. It was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. And the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pad Thai was a very large portion with egg and lots of seafood. Definitely worth trying.

Came in for take out because the delivery reviews on Seamless are gawd awful. The opposite is true about the promptness and food. It only took about 10 minutes to get my food and my meal, the Pad Kee Mao with beef, was delicious(was a tad bit heavy on the onions though, I’m sure my coworkers avoided talking to me the next few days). I would eat here more often if I could order delivery, but oh well. I could use the exercise.

Been here a bunch of times and I’m not sure why there are so many poor reviews. This place is an absolute gem. Never had to wait to be seated and the prices are absolutely cheap. Oh Pam Soooo good !!! Pam Real, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways ! Super delicious and flavorful Thai food, big portions, efficient service, and good prices ! I used to go to their location that closed, Pam Real Thai Encore, so needing to get dinner before catching a Broadway show I decided to try this location instead. This was one of the tastiest Pad See Eew I have ever had, and I have had this dish from several Thai establishments. I had it with beef and pork, and it was succulent and delicious. My partner also really enjoyed her entrée which had a combination of shrimp and Avocado in it. The appetizers were good, as was their Thai iced tea, and we wished we didn’t have to rush through it because it was really all very tasty but we had a show to catch. I don’t frequent this area often, but if i’m ever closeby and in the mood for Thai, this is where I’m going to go !!!

Authentic flavored Thai food dishes ! Slightly on the salty side but it’s full of flavor. Every dish I ate was excellent, especially the Tom Yum noodle soup! Portions are perfect, not too crazy big so you can still order an appetizer and enjoy your entrée too :) Seems a popular spot with the locals.

This place was so great. We spent a while walking around Hell’s Kitchen looking for a nice Thai food place and we found it. The service was good. We got everything we needed, whether we asked for more spices or chop sticks they were on it immediately. The food was super delicious and were huge portions(we ate the leftovers cold the next morning and were still amazing). The prices were standard. We had an appetizer and two entrees and it came out to a total of $ 27. We will definitely go back whenever I’m we want some good Thai.

I was brought here by a co-worker who demanded I try their specialty which was oxtail soup. Upon entering I was met with a mildewy scent which reminded me of 2 day old dirty mop water. At this point, I was hesitant to order anything, but I was talked into the oxtail soup. There were 3 of us total and 2 of us ordered the oxtail soup. My other friend ordered a noodle dish. I disliked that I was served first and the second noodle dish didn’t come out until 15 minutes later. To make matters worse, the waiter came over to inform my other co-worker that they were out of oxtail soup but we’re making more, and it should be ready momentarily. Well after waiting an additional 20 minutes, his soup finally was served. So basically, all 3 of us ate separately and the restaurant was far from being crowded. The soup was actually very tasty, although the oxtail was l little fattier than normal. The service certainly did not make up for it though. After complaining(very respectfully I might add), we were brushed off by the manager who took nothing off the bill. I certainly did not visit the place looking to receive a discount, but after having only about an hour for our dinner break, and being served 3 dishes separately over the course of about 50 minutes, I was pretty frustrated when we walked out. The only thing redeeming about this visit was the person who suggested this place was the last one to be served, so we informed him that he is no longer allowed to chose what we eat. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. This one was a loss.

Authentic(I think) Thai food for the Midtown crowd. I enjoyed every single dish. Had some fish cakes, glass noodles and the highly recommended oxtail soup. Service was good. Very friendly and courteous but they did forget to bring out one of our 3 entrees until reminded. I didn’t have to look at the menu or pay so not sure about the prices ;p

It used to be my hands down fav Thai restaurant in NYC. The oxtail soup is a no-brainer order for me, Almost everytime I came there I’d order oxtail soup. So, so, good. And Pam herself is sometimes in the restaurant during off-peak time talking to customers. Really great. This time I had my usual order — oxtail soup– again for lunch. It was still good. But off a notch from what I used to enjoy. It used to be tender, juicy, well balanced spicy and acidity, just the right amount of grease. But today, first of all, quantity dropped by about 20%. And the oxtail is too fat. So fat that after that many hours stewing, there’re still chunks and chunks of not-rendered fat attached. I disposed those completely. Thirdly, which is a consequence of second, it’s too greasy for me to have the soup at all. I’m disappointed. It used to be my fav. PLEASEUSEGOODQUALITYMEAT! Don’t let the cost get the best of you, Pam! I’m OK paying a dollar or two more for the same quality of oxtail soup, but I’m not OK traveling to far west to have mediocre dish.

The most authentic Thai restaurant in a neighborhood overflowing with them, Pam Real Thai Food is a welcome neighborhood gem. When you walk in, the restaurant isn’t glitzy with neon lights, booming music, and space-age ambience. Instead, it resembles a simple kitchen and dining area with ample lighting, plain wooden tables, and no music. The waiters are kind and speak Thai and appreciate good food just as you do. Which takes us to the food. The food at Pam Real Thai is wholly authentic and excellent. While not as spicy as some of the über authentic places in Queens, PRT does its due diligence and provides an exhilarating flavorful experience. Kaffir lime leaf, lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, and chilies are woven together, each singing their own part and composing a delicious melody of flavors. I’ve probably tried about half the dishes on the menu, and I’ll call out of favorites and some honorable mentions below: Goong Yai with Spicy Lime Juice — One of the spiciest dishes on the menu, this is a spicy, sour dish with four large prawns that are beautifully steamed. Meat resembles lobster or crawfish almost. Oxtail Soup — Flavorful oxtail stewed for hours until tender in a spicy broth made from coriander, cumin, cinnamon, and cilantro. Topped with fried onions. Can be a little heavy. Som Tum Salad — Classic papaya salad. Get it spicy. Larb — Classic Thai style ground meat salad, topped with roasted rice powder. Somewhat difficult to find with the authentic, homemade, roasted rice powder… Prik Khing — This is another classic prep style, meaning stirfried with string beans and chili paste. I think this is a good dish to gauge a restaurant’s merit from, and I usually get it with pork or chicken. Fermented Fish Kidney Curry — For the adventurous and weird. After ordering this once, the server warned me of its spice level and funkiness level. I assured him there would be no returns. It is one of the stinkiest, funkiest, and spiciest foods I’ve even encountered, but I would try it again in a heart beat. Very authentic. Bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted. Adult beverages consist of simply beer and wine.

Just as the name indicated, it’s REAL Thai! Everything is sooooo authentic! And if me as an asian talking is not convincing enough, I got many supports from my Thai friends too! Mango whole fish is my favorite of all Times! All things are good! This is not one of the fancy places you take your future(hopefully) boyfriend or girlfriend for dating, but definitely a good to go for close friends who don’t care about how it looks but how it tastes! There was another location on 47th street before when I lived in Hell’s Kitchen. I actually like 47th location better than original location thou. On 49th one is more clouded and busting. And they are surviving. I’m huge Thai food lover and I spotted most of restaurants on 9th Ave from 36th to 50th… So, Me and my boyfriend’s really love here and order same duck dish once a week. The food is pretty delicious. I came with my cousin and we tried: –Curry Puffs –Chicken Satay –Ox Tail Soup –Green Curry with Pork(with rice) –Thai Tea Probably the best of these was the Ox Tail Soup, which has a very bright citrusy broth that unites well with the beef bone. It almost tastes like Phở, but not. Thai Tea was on point, as well as the curry puffs, chicken Satay, and Green Curry. Service was also excellent. Waiters were prompt and friendly, and they really gave the vibe that they’re trying to run an honest and family-feel like business. It’s the portions that got me: so small… _ We ordered like 4 different items, and still, I’d say I was pretty hungry. But by then we had dropped close to $ 50 after tax and tip. Green curry portions were prettttttty meager I must say, as well as the everything else. Unless you’re a small woman who gets full eating half a bagel, be aware that you may have to shell out some bucks to have a decent portioned meal. While I really enjoyed the food taste and service, I give 4.5 stars for taste, 2 stars for portions. Please Pam Real Thai, may I have some more? :(

Estivemos lá em Março de 2014. Comida absolutamente excelente. Thai with no Spice *Note* My review is based on take-out only. Food: 2.75 Stars To say I’m disappointed at the food would be an understatement. I have been hunting for new Thai restaurants to include in my little rotation, but Pam Real Thai Food has failed on both occasions. The take-out dishes seem to be thrown together hastily in a glob-like mess. I am not looking for a beautiful presentation in my take-out, but I am looking for a dish that was handed with some sort of care. On both occasions I asked for somewhat spicy food(medium then spicy), and on both times I received the mildest sauce imaginable. There was no kick in the dish, just noodles and some thin leaves of bok choy(not certain if it was bok choy). While there is some taste in the noodle dishes it lacked any distinct flavor. It was just there. The lack of spiciness may have been a lapse on the part of the chefs/preparers, but for it to occur on two separate occasions makes me a skeptic. I will visit them once more in the future, but for now I will wait. From what I can tell the service is standard. I have not waited longer than 5 minutes to receive my food upon arriving at the restaurant. Overall: 2.75 Stars On both occasions I was disappointed by the lack of spiciness of the dishes I ordered. The overall dishes have a good overall taste, but the presentation of ingredients from the dishes I ordered make it look a bit unappetizing. I would somewhat recommend this restaurant is you are looking for non-spicy food, but if you love spicy food this certainly isn’t the place for you.
