It’s a dive with good prices, good draft selection, potent mixed drinks, and a solid music choice. Bartenders are nice, after the 3rd or 4th time I came they recognized me and knew what I was drinking. Haven’t had much food except the quesadilla which was okay, pretty typical for bar food. Lots of seating and the music is a good volume for conversation.

Classic WV dive bar with great beer list. Stone Enjoy 14oz for $ 8? yea. that’s a sick deal. You could always find seats and get some great brews.

great place to hang out with friends and play some games! They have game night Wed but if you go any other night, you’re welcomed to bring your own cards and play. Food is served; burgers are awesome!

Fantastic Beer Bar. Unbelievable selection, could sit here and drink for days, something for everyone. Friend ordered some food, standard bar fair, no complaints.

With the SLIGHT downgrade of the Patriot Saloon(didn’t see any girls dancing on the bartop on my last two visits), the PECULIERPUB raises to the position of BESTBARINNEWYORK. 200 kinds of beer, no pretense, back room where you can get away from the TVs, divey/friendly atmosphere, great servers,(KATEISBACK!). I’ve been coming to the Peculier since the 80s… and it hasn’t changed very much. –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers, a bar every week

Okay, I am going to preface this review with the fact that I came here with one of my BFF’s who worked here around 2002. But I love this place! The crowd on a late Thursday night was diverse and had many age ranges. There were about a million beers to choose from. But I opted for my vodka and club, which was well made. Jen, our server, was very friendly and attentive. The menu looked like there was some good bar food staples. I liked the art motif made of beer caps that decorated the entire room. Music was great … who doesn’t love Michael Jackson? We got to talk to Wen, who reminisced about the good old days with my friend, Val. Bar is cash but you can use credit cards at the tables. I just got a really happy vibe from Peculiar Pub and am def coming back.

They have an extensive menu when it comes to different types of beers and food. The appetizers at the restaurant are great which range from mozzarella sticks to small pizzas. The selections of drinks are extensive especially for beers which range from English, German, or Irish beers. If beer is not what you are in the mood for they have a wide selection of cocktails that might interest one. The place is somewhat small but is able to fit a decent amount of people. The food is made fresh and is served hot from the kitchen. Small note through the place only accepts cash they might have a limit on card but unsure about that.

Like Louis R. said … «okay, on to the next bar.» I’d say«peculier» is a good way to describe this spot. But why did they spell peculiar wrong? I digress… Came on a warm, summer Friday night. It was okay, the crowd was um, different? Bartender was nice, I ordered 4 or 5 shots of tequila and it seemed like she couldn’t decide what to charge me each time. $ 8 then $ 6 then $ 7 then back to $ 8. Lol? Each shot was actually a double shot so I’m not exactly complaining. Their security is also odd. There was a bouncer at the door, although he did not look or act like a bouncer. I was meeting friends there so I entered alone(around 11pm), made eye contact with him, after he didn’t ask for my ID I just continued to the bar. Then a few minutes later he awkwardly checked my ID and said he wasn’t sure if he should ask for it or not. Lol what? So weird. I’ve only been here once but my feeling is that it’s more of a low key, sit at the bar or sit at a table and socialize kind of place. Not necessarily a bad thing if that’s what you’re going for. Maybe I’ll end up here again? But so many bars in Manhattan, so little time to get drunk at them all.

My favorite bar in the city. Massive beer selection, staff is great, food is mildly better than your average NYC bar fare(though, I may be biased because I always end up more drunk than usual here), and the subway is pretty close nearby. Tables are wooden, worn, and drawn on and the bathroom is not always the greatest, but I’m good with that. My only complaint is that the cell service when you’re in the back is terrible. I’m addicted to the Untappd app(where you log the beers you drink and leave ratings), and I can’t use it back there. This is a personal problem, I know.

Great selection of beer, and the prices are good and affordable. It can get a bit loud and rowdy, however it’s a great place to just kick back after a stressful day at work.

Excellent! Their kitchen is open late. I tried their chicken fingers, which I’d rate as above average for pub food. The Buffalo sauce is house-made and has a unique sweet and spicy flavor. I’m from Buffalo proper, and I could tell that this was far removed from the NYC restaurant’s tendency to dump Frank’s on some fried chicken and try passing it off as «Buffalo sauce». My cocktails tasted delicious, and contained a generous house pour of liquor. The staff and I got into a conversation about liquor, and their knowledge of it is vast, which is imperative to a patron such as myself, who likes to try new cocktails. They also have a large variety of beer, which is sure to keep any beer enthusiast satisfied with what they have to offer. The bartender was very kind, and was able to help me navigate the menu by recommending food choices. In addition to that, she thanked me for my tip — something I don’t expect, but something I definitely appreciate. I chit-chatted with a few members of the staff, who were all delightful to interact with — including one waitress, one bartender, and one bouncer. I felt extremely welcome at this bar, and I have definite plans to return. Their food is satisfying, their service is of utmost commendable quality, and I did not feel as if I was walking into a situation where I was an inconvenience or an outsider, as I’ve often felt with other bars in that neighborhood.

Your quintessential dive bar. I’m surprised that Peculier Pub’s picture isn’t in the dictionary next to «dive bar.» Then again, as dive-y as it is, it’s one of the best dive bars I know. Food, your typical bar food… lots of fried things. Including, fried oreos. Personally, I’ve never eaten them, but my boyfriend loves them. Very large beer and drink selection as well. Not typical of Dive Bars? A decent staff. I’ve been here, two or three… or 50? times, and I’ve always encountered, pleasant staff. Also check out their beer bottle art that is ALL over the entire place. My only complaint. The bathroom. It’s a onsie… and there is ALWAYS a line for it.

This place is always so rowdy and crowded with college students looking for some cheap drinks, which hey is exactly what they’re getting. It’s definitely a lot of fun for when you want something more crazy and just for a good time to hang with friends. The drinks are definitely very cheap and sometimes they even give out free samples of their new stuff!

I’ve been coming to the Peculier Pub since I was old enough to(legally) drink in Manhattan. It’s still the same loud and dive-y beer lovers paradise. A full bar and some inventive cocktails are on hand, but the Peculier Pub’s claim to fame is the massive beer list: a usually rotating selection of well over 200 bottles from around the world: Israeli ‘Gold Star’, Sri Lankan ‘Lion Stout’, Lebanese ‘961 Lager’ are some of the odder selections, with the menu also boasting a formidable assortment of hard-to-find German, English, and American brews. Throw in another 2 dozen on tap and you have arguably the best selection in the city. While you’re probably better off eating elsewhere, food isn’t entirely an afterthought, with bar standards(burgers, cheesesteaks, fried stuff) done decently. Cash only, so be prepared. And don’t forget the check out the walls: collages of global currency and beer cans line the walls, which are themselves covered with thousands of bottle caps.

Peculiar Pub NY Manhattan Greenwich/NYU 7:30pm Wednesday 1st April 2015 Four Stars I came here for a broadway game meetup. Some of the folk were easy to spot: less fashion savvy, glasses, not drinking, or holding an assortment of games. There was a steady trickle of people coming into the bar throughout the night. The waitress was great at the beginning but then the increasing number of patrons made the service slower and slower. On the plus side a pint of Yuengling only costs $ 5. They also have deep fried Oreos($ 1 Each with 5 piece minimum). They were batter was salty and crispy like fish and chip plate. The Oreos were softer than expected. The thin chocolate sauce added the extra layer of decadence which help put my taste buds over the top. Note: it’s pay as you go. $ 25 credit card minimum. ATM in the back. The restroom were awful: cramped, covered in graffiti, and just below health code standards(in my opinion). There was a trash bag on the ceiling and I don’t even want to think about. Overall, peculiar pub is a great dive with cheap prices, fun people, and décor to match.

Seriously had a great time here with G. It certainly is a dive bar with good service. Nicole the bartender made this place a hit with me. Will definitely be back. She let us try a few of the beers with no pressure and we made this place our home for a few hours. More bartenders need to be like Nicole. Didn’t try the food, but may the next time we come. Try the Stone Green Tea and Delirium on tap. Had the Goose Bourbon, not my cup of tea but certainly as advertised.

300+ beers available for your tasting at the Peculier Pub!, what’s not to like! IPAs, ambers, darks, domestic, international… they got it all. This is one of my favorite college pubs around the NYU college area whenever I visit my friends here. There’s never too many people around and plenty of seating for everyone. The only annoying thing about Peculier Pub is their cash only policy, so make sure you bring some cash for a few pints with your friends.

We came here on a Monday night to meet some friends. Place was pretty empty when we got there but as time went by it got pretty packed, cool crowd. They have a nice, vast beer selection and trivia. They were out of a few craft beer selections but had enough options to make up for the inconvenient misfortune of not having the beer you were longing for. We had some spicy wings, onion rings, fries and nachos — standard bar food, nothing special. Friendly staff. Good dive bar.

A few months ago, a friend from New York came to Atlanta, and gushed about how cheap everything was in my home. That being said, I kind of had a preconceived notion that I should expect everything to be like twice of what I normally pay, when I went to New York. $ 6 pints at Peculiar’s kind of put that to rest really fast, and set the tone for a pleasantly surprisingly economical drinking-fest at a place that I really enjoyed during a trip up there. I can’t judge the place on how easy it was to get to, or if it’s a great neighborhood or anything like that, because I’m obviously not a local, much less a resident above the Mason-Dixon line, but I can judge the place based on a single visit. Everything about the place upon entering screams«dive,» which is great for me, because I love divey places. What really sold me was that a local friend of mine basically said that there was«like a hundred varieties of beer available.» Whether it was accurate or not is irrelevant, I was just pleased with the fact that there were numerous brews that I’d never tried, and at $ 6 a pint, it wasn’t even going to cost me much to explore the line. Service was friendly, and I never had to wait that long at the bar for one of the several workers to catch notice at my dying thirst for booze, and being that I was in the prepared tourist mode, I was fortunate to have cash on hand, so I didn’t have to worry about having them hold my card hostage and run a tab that I’d eventually have forgotten once I got too sloshed. Food is something I can’t really comment on, because I was a pig at Yankee Stadium and tried and failed to eat an entire bucket of chicken tenders and fries, but I do have to say that having a gullet full of fried garbage made me pretty drunk-proof the whole time I was at Peculiar’s, no matter how much I drank. Overall, Peculiar’s was a recommendation well received, and it turned out to be a place that I enjoyed very much. I’ll take it by the fact that my local acquaintances like going here so much that it’s a place easily worth coming back to.

I love this bar SOMUCH. It’s the hidden oasis of the west village. But seriously, I have to knock off an entire star for how much the credit card minimum is. Which is a whopping either 40 or 50 dollars. I just remember the amount being INSANITY and not really knowing what to do because Steph had opened one and didn’t have a ton of cash so we started putting all of my drinks on her card as well. This place never really gets crowded though which is a huge plus. The reason is mostly because there is zero happy hour on every day of the week. BUT you get a fine fine selection of craft beers to pick from. It’s like playing in beer candy land. Which one do I pick? Which one do I pick?! For our evening we went with themes. First starting off on flavor, I chose a hazelnut Brown Nector from Rogue and Steph a Son of a Peach from DJ Rockers. The amazingness didn’t stop there. Our second theme breakfast foods: Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale from Wells and Sunset Wheat from Leinenkugel(which tastes exactly like fruity pebbles!!!) Third Theme Wine Casked Ales: Brooklyn Brewery’s Monster Ale(Not so great, a little funky tasting if you ask me) and Weyerbacher’s Blithering Idiot(fantasticly tasted like barrel aged beer wine like it damn well should). If you don’t want to opt for exploring their enormous beer bottle menu, you can always get a nice frothy pint from their wide selection on tap. They also do half pints if you are a light weight and want to be cheap. :) They also have really great bar food here. I was skeptical but after realizing we were both starving and never going to meet our credit card minimum we split an order of garlic cheesy bread, which is just absolutely slathered with a thick gooey white cheese and generous coating of butter and garlic. In addition, we went all in on fat status and ordered their house fries that come with garlic chunks and fresh rosemary and added on additional cheddar cheese. Drunk food galore. Those chunks of roasted garlic and fresh rosemary add a certain amount of phenomenal decadence though to what everyone else declares ordinary cheese fries. Go peculiar pub for being peculiar all around! Lastly, our bartender(I forget her name) but she was super sweet offered us great ideas for beers to try and was fun to chat with. Definitely come check this place out if you’re tired of fratty places in the area that are overrun with kiddies trying to get flavored vodka drinks for super cheap happy hours. It’s one of the first and original craft beer bars that emerged in New York over 30 years ago and now boasts over 350 craft beer bottles and 27 beers on draught. You heard me. *Edit: Correction! They actually do have a happy hour! Wasn’t aware of this because my friend always said they didn’t. Before 8pm everyday, you can get $ 4 wells and ½ pints for $ 3 — that way you can sample a lot of different beers. They also have a summer special on burgers and a nice selection of $ 4 pints! Now, I need to come back just a little bit earlier! Squeak.
