This is a nice little Irish pub just off 5th ave. Their Irish coffees are superb, and they have a nice selection of whiskies. Bartenders seem to know what they’re doing, so you’re sure to be guided toward the proper choice for all your pub needs. I had a croc of chili which was pretty good, but it as really spicy. If someone isn’t ready for a bit of extra spice, I could see this five alarm beauty being a bit of a problem. However, I’m down with the heat, and I can certainly see myself visiting this one the next time that I am back in the Big Apple.

NOTE: The following review is for the W 48th St location only. Situated several blocks off Times Square, and right next to Rockefeller Center, I wandered in here for a quick bite while out shopping with my daughter. Not checking Unilocal was my first mistake. The décor is standard fare for owners trying to invoke the«Irish pub» feel. After being unnecessarily seated a bit too close to a party of women out on the town, a look at the menu showed it to be, in a word, uninspired. Plenty of accents in the house, none of which were Irish. Which is all well and good, unless you are billing yourself as an «Irish pub» and the staff have difficulty communicating in English. Additionally, certain drink specials advertised outside were not available once we were seated. Staying was mistake number two. The food arrived pretty quickly, but alas it proved to be barely edible. Certainly not decent Irish fare. Moreover, when an 11 year old orders chicken fingers and fries whilst pointing to the«Piglet» menu, why does your staff order and charge for an adult serving? Shameful. Not rioting was mistake number three — but I was just too disappointed to care at this point. The best part of the visit? Downloading and using the Zapper app to pay and make a quick exit as soon as the check arrived. The pizza shop next door would have satisfied our hunger at a third of the price and none of the disappointment.

We got dinner at the restaurant last night before our broadway play. I was very pleased with the service. The food came quickly and the waiter was very attentive. Service gets 5 stars but the actual food itself gets only 3 stars. I ordered the Irish breakfast. The sausages and white/black pudding were delicious but everything else was plain. I did not like the french fries at all. However, the prices are good and the service is great! It is near Times Square but not packed!

Nice stop for a night cap. Came after theater while in Times Square and walking around Rockefeller. Not too crowded for a Saturday nice which is refreshing. Kitchen was closed at 10:30 though but bartender was nice enough to to refer us to somewhere still serving appetizers. Good atmosphere overall.

I was not impressed. For the price we paid, we could’ve gotten way better food. Four beers and two sandwiches came to $ 93. The beers were average priced for NYC($ 9 for Goose Island), but the food was ridiculous. My sandwich was Pastrami on Rye with fries. I’m not picky, but it was literally just pastrami with no toppings or condiments. Our waitress wasn’t rude, but she definitely was just going through the motions. My boyfriend had to stare her down to get her to come over when we were finished with our beers(she was standing in the back doing nothing), and we had been waiting for a while. 18% gratuity is automatically included. I used to be a waitress and 9.5÷10 times I leave at least 20%, so I get offended when the tip is added(unless it’s a big group); however, I wouldn’t have left 20% this time anyway. When people don’t have to work for their tips, it gives them no incentive to go above and beyond. I would go back for the bar atmosphere but not for the food.

Only had drinks here so I can’t rate on the food. While my normal rating is a 3 star rating when I don’t feel that I have a good grasp to write too much, I gave 2 stars here strictly on the prices. A Jameson and coke was $ 12! Other places within 5 blocks away they are $ 7. The bartender had a good attitude and was friendly. The food selection looked good with traditional Irish faire on the list. I would go back to try the Boxtys they have listed on the menue.

Party of three. Service sucked and they included gratuity in the bill. Avoid. Food was average.

Ignore all The bullshit reviews because most of them come from Tourists who don’t know what they’re talking about. Pig ‘n whistle has a great local vibe at all locations with amazing staff and awesome bar food. This location has an especially witty bartender who’s bound to make you laugh now and again so give it a chance and stop in for a drink

Very good bar with good food. I’m giving it 4 stars because the server was a little rude and rushed my group out before the kitchen even closed.

stopped by yesterday to escape the crowded santacon bars and was pleasantly surprised. the two male bartenders at the downstairs bar were amazing. so attentive and friendly, we wanted to stay all night! unfortunately didn’t catch their names but would definitely return because of them! visited around 8pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t overwhelmingly busy at all. will be back!

It was the first time I came here and I really liked it. I came to have dinner before seeing the rockettes. This place has a narrow space complete with a long bar downstairs, but also has a 2nd floor that is spacious, comfy seating if your eating dinner, and another big bar as well. The prices were not outrageous at all. I tried the Shepards Pie. It was a decent size and I don’t eat much, or I try not too and fail. In fact I made it a point to only half… well it was so good that I ate the whole thing… haha(insert guilty smile). The margaritas tasted like pure juice honestly. I’m a light weight and that margarita didn’t do anything. However, next time I’ll just stick to beer and shepards pie. Definitely go.

The staff was incredibly rude to us the second we walked in. We came for our dear friends birthday and the hostess clearly didnt want us to be there. Every staff member(aside from the bartenders) we came in contact with were rude beyond belief. Dont go here.

food was great and service was fast… however service lacked personality… we went at 6 pm on. Saturday night and got a table right away. If you are looking for decent food and no wait this might be the place for you. If you like wait staff that caters to you, may need to pass

Okay so I’ve done this place a few times because it’s close to my girls job and express bus home. Normally we have a great time the drinks and appetizers are usually on point but not this time unfortunately. The calamari wasn’t as crispy(don’t judge me I have a thing lol) and the drinks were blah… maybe it was because we sat upstairs at a table instead of in the back downstairs by the bar… who knows I’ll venture to test the theory another day. I guess the adage of expect nothing from a change or at a bar is true or is that just my saying lol. Either way last night was a miss but I was glad to see my girl.

DISCLAIMER: I’m putting a 5 star review here simply because I think the paltry collective rating is absurd. I honestly give this a 4 star. Here’s why; Came for lunch with wife and 3 kids. We ordered — four kids options and ample adult fare — and food was delivered swiftly and as expected. Chili, salad, ravioli, burger and pasta dish. Everything as expected and service was impeccable. It’s possible they’ve morphed into a better establishment before we got here — but for a nice lunch in a good day — this was better than many. I will mention one sticking point: I’ve never been to an establishment with a built in tip for five patrons. And a peculiar 16.5% tip at that… I don’t like pre-loaded tips.

I hate this place! It sucks! I’ve worked across the street for the last 5 years and somehow end up here when my colleagues(they hate this place too) who have a birthday or just want to have a casual drink. I’ve never tried the food here and don’t expect to. Ive spent $ 80.00 or more every time I’m in this place and never get a buy back that’s $ 80.00or more! when I go to this place that’s just ridiculous! I’d rather go to T.G.I.F on 5th avenue and get treated like you should with cheap delicious appetizers and cheap drinks with buy backs! Btw I’m a generous tipper and when it comes to not treating locals the way they should i will go else where. I just left this place and promised myself to never step foot in this establishment again!!!

We were seated quickly but then again its 9pm. :0p Our waiter did not have any reccomendations and didn’t seem to want to be working. Well it is late on a Sunday night. HaHa. We ordered the calamari, chicken pot pie, Bangers n mash. Calamari slightly over cooked, making it chewy. Pot pie is bland. Only can taste the butter. Bangers were definitely dry. Pricey for average food and less than average service. Its unfortunate tip was already included in the bill.

My colleagues and I were here on Tuesday night which is one of the slowest nights of the week for Happy Hour. Originally we had plans to eat dinner here but wanted to share dishes. We saw on the menu that it’s $ 5 extra to share a plate so we opted to order drinks and eat elsewhere within our budget. This was probably not good news for the waitress who kept asking if we were ready to order food when we were not planning to order food. When my colleague and I got our individual checks for our drinks($ 7 and change each), we both gave $ 20 each. We never got our coins. I know this is petty, but if we’re paying a $ 20 for a $ 7 and change bill, we expect $ 12 and change, not just $ 12. This is short changing customers and it’s our choice if we want you to keep the change. This is a first for both of us which resulted a $ 1 tip instead of $ 2 tip from each of us. I’ve never been to this place and wanted to try a different location for our Happy Hour. I definitely have no interest in coming back.

Pig ‘N’ Whistle is located right across from where the Today Show tapes and in a convenient spot to the rest of Rockefeller Center. After a taping of the Today Show, my friends and I were looking for a spot to grab a drink. Yes, I know it was the morning… don’t judge. We thought they opened at 11:00 but it turned out they didn’t open until 11:30. Since we were just ordering drinks, they kindly opened their doors early for us. Our bartender was friendly and served us quickly. One would hope since we were the only customers. There weren’t a ton of beers on draft but I was happy with the Goose Island IPA. I wouldn’t seek this place out necessarily but if in the area and in need of a beer, I’d come back based on their accommodating and friendly service.

Have you ever seen something that you wish you could just unsee? Well, that’s exactly what happened one cold, dark and stormy night at Pig ‘N’ Whistle… Okay, okay. It wasn’t dark or stormy. But hey! I’m trying to paint you a picture here! It all happened one Thursday after work. My coworkers and I decided to pop in for a few much needed beers after a long ass week. I ordered a glass of Harp and whipped out my credit card to pay for it. Either I was super excited for that beer or I’m just super clumsy because I dropped the credit card on the floor, right next to the bar. I go to pick it up and see something moving. It took a few moments for me to register exactly what it was. Then I realized there was not one cockroach, not two cockroaches, but a BALL of cockroaches! Yes, a BALL. I can’t even think of any other way to describe it. Needless to say, I had my much braver coworker pick up my card for me. So I know what you might be thinking — ‘Get over it! There are roaches all over NYC… you should be used to it by now!’ But believe me… if you were in my shoes and are as deathly afraid of bugs as I am, you would empathize with me. I saw people eating at Pig ‘N’ Whistle and just kept thinking to myself — ‘if only you knew what I just saw… it was NOT pretty!‘ I think from now on, we will be taking our happy hour business elsewhere. Not to mention, my co-worker said she once saw a girl doing coke in the bathroom so if that isn’t your scene, I would just avoid P&W entirely. Tip — there’s a $ 20 minimum for card but that seems to only be enforced by certain bartenders if/when they feel like it.
