Can’t say enough good things about this beloved institution. Started coming in 2003 and just went back the other day and it never ceases to soothe the soul. Around the corner from a highly regard recording studio, many fond memories of breaking from mixing to go for a Sidewalk lunch… there’s construction going on now that’s obscuring the appearance but this won’t interfere with your experience– love Sidewalk Café and glad that it’s still there.

I’ve came here a few times and the service is consistently good and friendly. Amazing brunch deal, their bloody marys are great and so is their food! I love the sidewalk burger(cooked a perfect medium rare) and the mac and cheese. It’s so gooey and rich so I can only indulge once in a while. Skip the big name places and come here with a group!

I’m giving it a 2 star because I was on a date and the waitress had her chest completely out, bending over the table to speak to us. She was very nice but kept saying«ahuh» every time to acknowledge what ever we said. The drinks were good and the food was also but how come we can’t add shrimp to a salad when you can chicken for $ 3?. She told us we couldn’t add on shrimp we have to have it as an appetizer which coast $ 7 for only 3 pieces. How disappointing. Other wise me and my date enjoyed our meal. Thanks

I’m new to the hood & one day looking for a yummy yet inexpensive breakfast I came across theirs! I loved it; usually I get scrambled eggs & bacon, never been dissatisfied, plus the waitresses are super nice. Great choice whether you’re dining in or on the go.

The live music venue was cool but it’s all about the service and quality of food. The brunch specials are amazing it comes with a drink. hour and a half of unlimited drinks screwdrivers, bloody Mary’s, and mimosas what are usually have. You better off going on the weekends and sitting at the bar with Kathy the bartender/server, the customer service is great. I didn’t like the price of the Hennessey shots they were $ 15 but it’s ok. It’s the east village…

If I could give a negative star I would. This spot was pretty awful. We had a group of 10 people for brunch and we were seated in a back, awkward room. The food and service were equally awful. I would not recommend!

This is an amazing place. The food is great, the drinks are great, servers and bartenders are super fun and clearly hardworking. Nariya, joe, aneel, great peeps. If you want to have a chill drink and snack or a pregame to a wild night, or catch some cool poetry readings or bands, singers, experimental anything creative, this place is a go to.

Absolutely the worst service I’ve ever had for brunch. If I would have had a buzz it would have made the sub-par more bearable, but the drinks(although heralded as «unlimited») I question if they even had alcohol in them. The drinks were weak, the food bland, and the experience blasé. Take your well-earned brunch hour to a more deserving locale.

I had a light lunch here the other day. I like the middle eastern. The hummus was good and the chicken on a stick was good too. The best part was happy hour from 11 am to 8 pm. $ 3 drafts! A great deal in the East Village. My experience though limited and brief was very good.

Sidewalk is a place for bikers and workers. Off your track near ‘Beat Era’ Tompkins Square. Did not expect much from service but was pleasantly surprised. Maybe wait girl was my age. Falafel wrap was decent. Falafel balls were crunch outside, steamy flavor inside. Asked for more humus; made it to my table without me knowing. Cheap beer happy hour, comfy atmosphere, free wifi for students. Menus are oddly translucent. They hang crates on walls, fill them with wine bottles. Weekends host rock bands and poetry. Left near 30% tip. Bring friends and party!

Been to Sidewalk a couple of times for a variety of reasons. It’s pretty cool that they have a space in the back for performances. I think it was a Friday night, but they had some local artists performing and it just wasn’t my cup of tea at all. As for food, it’s kind of one of those places that I go to because my dining partner or I can not make a decision about where else to go. I usually settle on their burger and it’s pretty standard. The best thing about Sidewalk is that it is open late and that it actually has a pretty cozy and comfortable ambience. Have yet to frequent their bar during the later hours when they’re busy, but maybe some day!

All the food is pretty good! Joe, Amy, and Ally are wonderful bartenders! Enil, the manager, although a ps4 person and not a xbox 1 person, really keeps this place alive and does a fantastic job!

Gotta love places with weekend happy hour deals! I had the frozen pink margarita($ 5) which I was expecting to just be the normal 8 oz size, but wow they give a lot! Flavor was really good, not overly sour or overly sweet and it packs a punch for the low price. I also split the Grasshopper spiked milkshake with my boyfriend($ 13.95); it’s one of those deceptively strong drinks because it just tastes like ice cream! Staff is friendly and attentive, as well. I didn’t try any food here but the menu looked good so I will next time.

Apparently, Unilocal removed my review because they said it didn’t provide enough information about my experience, so here’s a revised review. Sidewalk Café has racist employees, in that they have spoke down to and refused to provide proper customer service to to my black friends, and even referring to a black child as an «it,» but will serve you with a smile if your skin is white. This isn’t an isolated incident, it’s a recurring theme that Sidewalk Café treats black patrons with no respect, let alone quality customer service. Simply: Sidewalk Café is racist. Does that provide enough information about my experience or does Unilocal ignore and condone racist venues?

If I could give it zero stars I would. Racist. Condescending. Give your business to people who treat people like people.

Their sign on the window was really racist. They put up wanted ads for bartenders and waiters in English, and ads for kitchen help and dishwashers in Spanish. Classy. Often features incredibly racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic acts during their open mics. Otherwise great performers attend here, but that is eclipsed by the sheer culture of exclusion that is fostered here, and the tolerance for hateful language that is encouraged, veiled in a cheap cloak of humor.

Brunch on a humid June Sunday afternoon in East Village, Alphabet City with a party of two surely ate my fill. We ordered: Sidewalk Café Eggs Benedict with veggies and hash browns Sidewalk Café Smoked Ham Omelette with veggies and hash browns Fried Calamari Pineapple juice Coffee Service was turtle slow as we attempted to flag all waitress including bus boys’ attention for more Pineapple juice and more cup of joe. Our food was served approximately forty minutes after placing our order– entirely too long! With great pain from recent major surgery I needed to sit for several minutes after we have completed our meal. Thankfully, the wait staff did not usher us out as I was unable to walk because my surgical pain ripples my entire body. Price is reasonable for brunch. Décor is very rustic. Sidewalk Café serves the Stuyvesant community as a café, bar and venue performance space. In the rear there is a stage for live performances including an open-mic of all talents welcomed. Free delivery is available with a $ 10.00 minimum order, cash only.
