Being Cuban myself, I am very disappointed in this place. I got something very simple: spicy grilled chicken with«sauteed» onions and peppers, sweet plantains, and a salad. The salad was okay, mostly lettuce with one slice of cucumber and 2 slices of tomato, but that seems to be the norm these days. However, the chicken was dry and not spicy ATALL. I had to drench it in green sauce. The«sauteed» vegetables were basically raw. It’s like they threw em on the grill for 5 seconds and took em off. Biting into a raw white onion is never good. The plantains were perfect, but that is not enough to lure me back. Oh and it was late on the delivery.

Pretty good food. Love love the pernil and green sauce. But the staff can be a bit more friendly.

My boyfriend introduced me to this restaurant chain a few years ago. It became a spot that we would go to every now and then. Our go to dish was tilapia with rice and plantain. We really loved the tilapia!!! We decided to take a trip to this location on May 2, we ordered our regular and was told to wait 5+ mins for tilapia because it wasn’t ready yet. While enjoying great conversation with my boyfriend in the dine in area our entire mood changed when we discovered that his tilapia was not cooked fully. Now this was strange because we had to wait a few minutes when we put in our order because the tilapia wasn’t ready and we have NEVER encountered this issue since we’ve been coming here. Quickly we brought the issue to the attention of the employees, they tried to give my boyfriend another meal(smh) Instead we just asked for our money back and told them they lost two customers!

This is authentic Cuban food with the most delicious green sauce. I am actually addicted to Sophies and order lunch from here at least twice a week. The standouts are really the oxtail or ropa vieja with Moro rice and fried sweet plantains. You really can’t get anything better. Also the woman who picked up the phone today was an angel and really helped me to get my food despite problems I had been having with my Verizon service. Thank you so much for the amazing foods

I grew up in Miami. Trust me, this is as authentic as it gets. Everything I’ve ordered has been amazing, from the Cubano sandwich to ropas viejas.(I always order delivery, so I can’t speak to the actual restaurant’s atmosphere.) Get the plantains unzip your pants, and enjoy!

This place has gone downhill significantly. When they first opened, I would have given them 4 – 5 stars but now they’re more like 2 – 3 stars. Everything about them is inconsistent. Staff — sometimes you get decent staff and other times you get horrible staff. I’ve also had delivery guys who show up complaining because they didn’t know how to use the intercom. Food — really inconsistent. Once in a while the food is excellent and other times it’s overcooked and flavorless. Customer service — pretty much non existent. I’ve had problems a few times with delivery orders and they refuse to correct it and refuse discounts and refunds. The only time they’ll offer a refund is if they ran out of a particular item. Price — a bit high considering the amount of meat and veggies is small compared to rice. Fried plantains are 6 small pieces.

First time eating Cuban food. Nice clean environment. Fast service. My friend and I met for lunch at 1200 and it was just beginning to get more people for sitting service but most were standing in the area walking into to main part of the restaurant for to-go orders. Empanadas I ordered were already made and in a display so it wasn’t very warm when they were served. I had the Oxtail dish served only on Fridays. All entrees, unless otherwise noted on the menu, come with two sides. I got the veggies and white rice. They have more sides available. I would say the price was reasonable for the amount of food.

I’ve tried Sophies from 2 diff locations and thus far, this«Cuban» food is the equivalent of what McDonald’s would be for REALCUBAN food. It’s bland and the meats I’ve tried are SUPERDRY which is not what cuban food is known for. Most people that give this place high ratings are usually those that didn’t grow up eating good hispanic food, but hey, whatever floats their boat.

Cheap, warm, filling, comfort food. Served fast and quick cafeteria style. Been here for lunch a few times. It’s either simple no-frills seating in the back or take out. I like their rice and beans, beef stew, oxtail stew, and empanadas. Also, try the green sauce, it’s really addicting and makes everything taste better. Every seems to have a rustic, made at home feel to it. They also have daily specials.

#The Green Sauce is really good. It makes everything taste good. How do I just eat buy the #green sauce? That’s all I really want.

Sophie’s is one of those places I love to eat at. Their chicken and rice reminds me type of food that my friend’s mother used to make. Any time I am having a bad day or need a little pick me up, I go to Sophie’s. The only complaint I have about Sophie’s is that they are a little too pricey for me.

Ordered half a chicken, large avocado salad, tostones and maduros for a total was $ 28. The chicken was delicious but to be honest I was disappointed with the rest of the meal. The«large» salad was a small container with two pieces of avocado. The tostones looked like they were expired and the maduros didn’t look much better. The chicken was awesome, juicy and well seasoned but the rest of the meal wasn’t what I expected. I don’t think I will bother to order again from there.

Delicious cuban food. The sitting area was freezing cold, no heat, so I’d recommend a take out.

People check out restaurants/establishments for the food, but come back for the service. I’ve been an avid Sophie’s Cuban customer for the past 5 years and rave about it to my friends, but after my horrific experience — NEVERAGAIN. Ordered the fried fish, rice, beans for takeaway and it was raw to the core. I’m not even sure if the cook kept it in the fryer for more than 20 seconds. Called Sophie’s, asked nicely to replace it, they said that I needed to go back to show my fish so they can replace it. The lady who answered the phone was not only rude and sceptical, but she made zero effort in rectifying the situation. She was claiming that they didn’t have any delivery guys to bring me a new fish. Finally she caved in, I had to call twice and be placed on hold before giving my address. Fish arrived — without the sides. Awful, awful service. They clearly don’t care about their customers.

It’s nothing fancy but the food is DELICIOUS and the service is super fast! I usually get the pernil with yellow rice & beans(…& fried green plantains… and avocado but who’s counting) but I’ve had other dishes and all were just as good. Decent prices and the portions are pretty damn hefty. Oh and don’t even get me started on their«green sauce» *bites fist* I don’t know what’s in it(crack perhaps?) but it’s like a little piece of tastebud heaven.mmmm.

I’ve been eating at this Sophie’s for the past 5 years and it’s definitely gone through some different management with price hikes. At the end of the day, however, the food is still incredible and all I want to do is drown everything I eat with that green sauce. My personal favorite is the roast turkey with yellow rice and beans — extra gravy. My usual second choice is the roast pork or flattened fried chicken. I’ve heard the sandwiches are pretty good too, but I’ve always been too busy ordering my regular to venture out. Also get the onions. They’re terrible for meetings, but excellent for the tastebuds.

I had walked by this place for many years not knowing what they sell. Since I was sick of all the food nearby I decide to try something new. I walked in around 2 to find the place mostly empty. Most of their food were almost half gone. My first impression was the aroma. it smelled wonderful like it’s a home kitchen filled with home cooking. I got a tamale with a beef and chicken empanadas. The meal was absolutely juicy and full of stuffing. I was recommended to try the soup which was also pretty good. Staff was quick and helpful. Highly recommend for lunch especially with price range.

This was the 4th Sophie’s that I have been to so far. There had no line for taking out during a Friday lunch time. The lady who served me food was little mean. She rushed me, when no one was behind the line. The baked chicken and sweet plantains were good as usual.

I’ve walked by this place sooo many times. The moment I walked in, all I could think was how many delicious meals I have missed out on… My friend and I decided on this place for lunch, best decision of the day! The moment we walked in, there was a bit of confusion as to which way the line went, but once we figured it out, it moved quickly while friendly. We ended up ordering the same thing, pernil, moro rice and maduros, yum! There wasn’t any part of my meal that was off. The pernil was good, not dry at all like how certain places make it. Juices from pernil over the moro rice, great! I’m very picky with maduros and this place was good, not too sweet, browned just right. All the flavors and textures worked perfectly together! Although this place doesn’t look like anything special, but they definitely serve some great food. I’d highly recommend this place and will most definitely e back!
