I’ve had great experiences here! They saved a gouge in my brown leather boots and replaced the heels on 2 other pairs. Most recently, they restitched my Frye boots when the stitching wore off on the bottom of the boot. They are quick, affordable, reliable and have always been kind!

Based on the reviews, this place seems to do good work (which is why I went here) — but they cannot handle high end shoes.
They damaged my wedges and didn’t match the replacement heel height properly.
The results were pretty amateur looking. See picture.
I ended up replacing the shoes altogether, because I couldn’t stand the shoddy look.

I have been going to Steve for over 10 years. The price is affordable and great repairs on anything from shoes, jackets or handbags. He just saved my MK purse that my puppies decided to chew on such an amazing job

its now time for my annual visit to steve’s shoe repair to resole the shoes and boots i wear every single day and i am trekking down from the upper west side to steve’s because every time that i’ve not done that and used someone local, i’ve been sorry.

They do a great job on men’s and women’s, from polishing to fixing soles and more. Only downside is they close a little early and they’re not open on Sunday’s. That being said, I have called before and they were kind enough to stay open ten minutes late for me!

I took a pair dress shoes in to fix my insoles, service was outstanding!!! I cant say enough how happy it was to find a place that cares about quality customer service.

Always reliable and fast. I’ve taken my shoes for repair here about 8 – 10 times over the years (major & minor fix ups) and I’ve always been happy. It’s not unusual to receive that call mid-​afternoon notifying me my shoes are ready — only hours after dropping them off. Very thorough and well priced, professional.

Quick, competent, and very reasonably priced. They sewed some soft leather patches over rough bits of my Harley boots that were rubbing my calves, the patches have worked great. They replaced a watch battery too. They’d promised a 24-​hour turnaround but called me to say the work was done much sooner than that.

This winter was particularly harsh on my leather boots. I took them in to get the heel fixed and the shoe polished once I figured we were out of the clear as far as snowing.
They did such a great job — my shoes look like new. I would definitely recommend it and go back again.

These guys are awesome! I brought in two pairs of shoes with pretty heavily worn out heels, so they built up the heels, put a new cap on them, polished and re-​stained the leather, and resoled one of the pairs for $ 75. The quality of the work was impeccable and they called me less than 3 hours after I brought them to tell me that they were done!

The elastic band connecting the buckle on my sandals snapped after too much fun at a Heineken promotional party. So it was off to Steve’s Shoe Repair with my favorite shoes.
They charged $ 15 to repair/​replace the elastic on both shoes. I left a $ 5 cash deposit and paid the remainder when I came back to pick them up. (There is a $ 15 credit card minimum.)
This was a simple repair, so I’m not sure how they would do with more complex jobs. I found them to be affordable, plus it was a quick and easy drop off and pick up. I brought my shoes in on a Wednesday afternoon and by that evening I’d received a call that they were ready.
By the next day my sandals were back on my feet!

I was drawn in by all the positive reviews, but unfortunately did not have a good experience. I brought in a pair of heels, one of which had snapped. The heel was repaired in one day. Upon inspection, the job did not look impressive — the lines weren’t clean, there were lumps and bubbles in the heel where the heel was «repaired».
I walked down the hallway in my office this morning twice (about 50 feet) before it snapped again. How utterly embarrassing. Luckily I had flats in my office.
I also had a pair of vintage Louboutins sent in for new vibrams and a cleaning. They were given back to me dirty, with black polish streaks on the bottom where the red paint is. I pointed it out in the store and they said they would clean them. Now, after what happened to my other pair with the broken heel, I’m afraid of what I will find when I return.
Needless to say, I will be asking for my money back.

UPDATE: This morning the new heel on my boot snapped in half as I was on my way to work. It’s been less than 2 months since the heel was replaced and I’ve only worn the boots maybe half a dozen times. From now on I’ll be taking all my shoes to Leather Spa. What a waste of money this was.
Also, the Gucci pumps on which the heels were replaced may have looked okay at first glance, but they are a mess too. The shoes are essentially ruined. Instead of putting on a heel of the same height, the heel used was slightly shorter so that the patent leather of the shoe is all wrinkled along the sides from where it was reshaped to fit the lower heel.
In short: Worst repairs ever.

My go-​to shoe guy since 2008. No frills, quick turnaround and friendly staff. I would say prices are average. He’s helped me with shoes, purses, zippers and anything leather. Good guy.

I recently made a commitment myself to try to mend things more instead of replacing them, and having Steve right around the corner has really been helpful. I had previously reheeled the tips of my black pumps, but because it was a fairly standard issue repair, I didn’t think it was worth mentioning.
But then one day, after aggressively tugging on my knee-​high boot zip, I tore a tiny section apart — enough to warrant an entire zip replacement. I brought it here, and I was charged $ 40 for the zip repair and reheeling.
I came back a couple of days later and I remarked, «The zip’s all fixed?» He said, «Yes, of course.» I opened the bag to look at his handiwork, and gushed, «Wow, I can’t even tell which one was the broken one.» He gave me a «I know it, baby» look (not creepy, just proud of his craft) and I thanked him and left.
I’ll be back!

I’ve brought about 6 – 7 pairs of shoes/​boots to Steve’s over the years. Steve is dependable, efficient, and a good value. It’s your typical shoe-​repair shop, nothing fancy here, but he knows what he is doing and does it well.
I had Steve add a rubber sole to a pair of leather boots that I had bought in Argentina. After about a year (worn almost daily in fall & spring), the front of the sole was flapping a bit, but I brought them back to Steve and he fixed it free of charge.
I haven’t brought any expensive/​designer shoes over to him so can’t speak to his work on that, but Steve has let me extend the life of my everyday pumps, boots, and flats sadly exposed to the wear & tear of nyc streets.
