Fantastic show!
I have been wanting to see Wicked for quiet some time now and I am so happy that I did. This show was amazing and I loved every minute of it. We got tickets for Center stage Row 2. I was not sure if these seats were going to be too close to the stage but the way the Gershwin Theatre is set up even the front row would not be too close. The actors did a superb job. The singing & dancing was fantastic. The costumes and props were wonderful. It was just an overall great show. The storyline was really nice and a great twist on the Wizard of Oz theme. I was surprised at how comical it was at times on top of the theatrical drama. The script is a bit mature at times so any extremely young child may not get it but the performance can be enjoyed by everyone. I highly recommend everyone see Wicked!
BTW as far as drinks there is a bar. I ordered a «glass of wine» for $ 11 bucks which comes in the Wicked souvenir cup. I thought this was a steal because I figured it would have been about 20 bucks. The catch is that she only filled up ²⁄₃ of the cup, which I thought was ridiculous. I was hoping for at least half of the cup to be filled being that it was only a standard 8 ounce cup. The wine was good though. Your better off sticking with one of the slushy drinks which they do fill up to the top.

There truly is no rest for the Wicked … Seriously, this show’s cast a spell over Broadway with sold-​out performances since 2003! Don’t be green with envy … just follow the yellow-​brick road and the packed-​thick crowds to the expansive and classy Gerswhin Theatre to see Wicked while you still can (afford it).
Wicked is 165 minutes of fun and inspiration that speaks to teens, their mom’s, and even you about perceptions, opportunity, and whether people are born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?
Whether you love Wicked or just like it, take time during intermission to get one of the green Ozmopolitan cocktails or red Glozmopolitan cocktails in souvenir sippy cups for a hit of alcohol before the second half.
This show is as near to a «must-​see» for families as any performance on Broadway. In the end, no one mourns the Wicked.

Broadway shows are just amazing! What better way to spend your Friday night, then eating dinner and watching a Broadway show? Ofc I took advantage of the 2 for 1 broadway tickets deal and had amazing seats: Center Orchestra seating.
The show itself was fantastic. Extremely catching tunes, and it kept us laughing the entire production! I knew that story line mirrored the Wizard of Oz, but I was presently surprised to see how flawlessly every detail was incorporated into Wicked and how easily you were able to make the connection to The Wizard of Oz.
Overall, great show! What else can I say… just go see it!

This show has been around since 2003 so obviously it holds a lot of appeal for many people. I’ve seen it a few times and it’s still pretty good.
The songs are good and there are a few memorable ones («Defying Gravity» for example) and each cast I’ve seen has been highly skilled. I think at 2 hours and 45 minutes running time, there is a lot that could be condensed, especially during the first act. But the second act picks up a bit and keeps your attention. I admit, I dozed off during the first act.
I would say if you’ve seen the show a few times, it may seem a bit tired in places but all you have to do is look on the faces of the people seeing it for the first time and you can understand the magic that happens. If you can get discount tickets, this is definitely a show to see. At full price, I’d be a little more choosy. Like this would be similar to «Peter Pan» peanut butter… I like it okay, but choosy Bill’s choose Jif.

SO, SO, SO GOOD!
This might be my favorite show on Broadway although I still adore Phantom.
Costumes and set design were amazing. So much color and glitz and awesome effects.
Lots of cute and funny moments thrown in to keep the audience laughing.
Great performances and music.
And the storyline itself is wonderful. What a fun, bright and sparkling way to show that there is always more than one side to every story…
Oh, and the theater is nice — comfortable seats!

Amazing costumes! The two female leads are beyond impressive with an incredible vocal range
We got to the show 10 minutes late (7:10) and were forced to wait for 30 minutes in the lobby. This was very unpleasant due to the ushers talking behind us and people going in and out of the restrooms. We watched the show from a tv with poor volume. The show should accommodate for late people by allowing them to stand behind the seats until a good point in the show to guide them to their seats.
I will definitely recommend this show to friends but would insist they arrive on time ;-)

Basically bottle up greatness, pour on top of iced musical and poetic brilliance and drink deeply from the emotional, laughter filled performances. Galinda had me at «Ga».
I had a great time with my wife and look forward to bringing my kids someday.
In a stroke of luck, we picked up decent seats at the last minute by arriving 30 mins before a Saturday matinée. If you are flexible, I suggest you do the same for some serious savings.

Wicked is a star show with and amazing cast. Defying gravity wow what can I say this is one of my new favorite songs.
There were a few spots I found I drifted away in looked around the theater. That is the only reason it did not get five stars.

Great production. I loved the music, the plot and the theatre. We had great orchestra seats and the acoustics were good. If you like the Wizard of Oz this is a great addition to the classic story. We kept trying to connect the dots and could for most of the show but then watched the Wizard of Oz again after to refresh our memory of the original story.

Having seen The Producers and Mamma Mia back in 2003 I was expecting a lot. Wicked is good. But it is not the best Broadway Musical ever done. I was slightly disappointed in all the hype to find it good, but not so good it deserves «among the very best of all time Broadway shows». It is an interesting, thought compelling story and certainly deserves props for such. There are some good lines, but also a few cheesy ones that made me cringe. I mean — this is Broadway. I don’t expect trite on Broadway.
The sets were good too, the actors were wonderful, the costumes great. I wish I could write about how over the top it was, but to me, it was better than average and that’s about all I can say. I’m a writer, and this show left me at a loss. I just expected a lot more.
Also, we purchased tickets from Viator, a subsidiary of TripAdvisor. I paid over $ 600 and come to find out, the face value of our tickets was $ 159. They were off to the side and of course the tallest guy in the entire theater sat in front of me and I’m just shy of 5 feet all. That was a bummer, but my tall son offered to switch with me and that did help for the rest of the show.
Definitely see it, but don’t expect Nathan Lane or Matthew Broderick level performances and scripts.

We won the lottery for two tickets on Christmas day!
Cleverly written, philosophically deep, funny, emotional, great cast, and a MINDBLOWING set.
Themes that stood out to me most:
Political corruption, social inclusion and social justice, scapegoating to create unity (relevant to current events), fear of otherness, love, faith, friendship, among many others…

One of the best musicals on Broadway. If you’re a fan of «The Wizard of Oz», you’ll really enjoy, «Wicked»…

I’m not gonna lie, I fell asleep towards the end. I’m not a huge fan of Broadway shows. I feel like they’re soo long. However, since I read the book this musical is based on, I was looking forward to seeing their interpretation. Wicked is definitely entertaining, their set and lights are magical and imaginative. The show was entertaining but in my opinion, dragged on a little long towards the end. The theater is pretty intimate, so you’re bound to enjoy the show anywhere you sit. They sold us tumblers that we filled with wine. so there’s that. It’s a good show to bring anyone in your family.

The Quick: No spoilers. Moving, inspiring, and fun for the whole family. Fantastic soundtrack and talent, an absolute must see
The Details: You will laugh, you will cry, and you will likely return. I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t loved Wicked and has wanted to relive the performance (I’ve been twice and counting). Even if you’re not a fan of witches and magic, you will be changed by this performance. Just go.
The Damage: I believe these tickets are still very expensive, make sure to look for discounts online.

Being from San Diego, we knew that we HAD to watch a Broadway show in New York and I’m happy we did! I always heard great things about the Broadway shows, ‘Wicked’ being one of them.
I don’t like musicals much. I never really got into the popular tv show «Glee» because of all the singing and the actors breaking into chorus. But I, admittedly, really enjoyed «Wicked»!!! The actors/​singers were all amazing! I especially fell in love with Rachel Tucker’s voice, she played Elphaba. Glinda cracked me up! The cast was hilarious and fun to watch!
I’m glad we made the decision to watch ‘Wicked.’ It gave me a different perspective of the Wicked Witch. I would absolutely recommend that you go see this show.

WOW such an amazing cast and amazing production. Special effects were amazing. While I wasn’t a fan of Glinda when she first appeared, her voice got much stronger-​especially when she was able to delve into her girly-​girl soprano voice. Elphaba’s solos were AMAZING, almost on par with Idina Menzel. The theater was packed on a Tuesday night– and to top it off, the ushers and box office workers were the nicest at any NYC production (including at Lincoln Center) that I’ve encountered. Absolutely amazing production – reminded me why I love Broadway so much. I want to bring all of my friends
Defying Gravity gave me so many chills. And loved seeing how the Wicked Witch of the East came to be!

Good show, maybe way overhyped, but still one to see as a pure Broadway production spectacle.
The cast were fine, along with some nifty songs and funny moments, and the actress portraying Wicked Witch Elpahaba (Rachel Tucker) was solid in the role since she came from London’s West End where she was the longest consecutive running Elphaba.
Plus, the Gershwin Theater is a great spot for this production. Roomy, great AC, and a lot of history to look at in the lobby and hallways. The stage set, costumes, and artwork for the show is terrific.
Basically, Glinda is an annoying self absorbed «Mean Girl» with no real talent or power other than her looks, Elphaba is the outcast «Nerdy Girl» who yearns for love and to be accepted but hidden inside has all the talent and power, her sister is a handicapped brat, her father is a douche, the Wizard is just a shifty politician which little ethics and no powers, and Madam Morrible is a power hungry opportunist using the Wizard to stay in control over the townfolk. Yes, it’s pretty much the script for every teen flick and TV show we have seen over and over.
Glad that we got to finally see this after all these years, but once was enough. No need to see it again. Again, it’s way overhyped and not as good as I thought it would be. Some parts were kind of boring and the writing was on the simplistic side. I’ve feel as if I have actually seen better off-​Broadway this year.
Still, it beat the heck out of Cats which absolutely sucked!

I love this musical.
Yes, it’s cheesy. Yes, it’s commercial. Yes, the songs are sing-​songy. Yes, the plot is somewhat predictable. No, the current cast will never be as talented as the original cast. (Ohmygod, how often I listen to the soundtrack.)
Nonetheless, it still remains my most favorite musical. It is heartwrenching, sweet, and clever. The songs vary in genre, which keeps things interesting. It is so entertaining and is truly a journey in two and a half hours.
I’ve seen this show in front row (I still have my ‘I won the Wicked Lottery’ button!) and in Melbourne, Australia, and both times were fantastic. There’s a reason it always sells out. I almost cried during the musical, but caught myself when I realized it was *just* a story and not a tale that I was interconnected within.
It is everything a Broadway musical should be — a magical feast for the eyes (you’re always left wondering how they did certain stage tricks), catchy songs (I can’t even hear the word ‘popular’ without going «LAR!!!») and a strong storyline to create a foundation.

A-​MAZ-​ING! It’s been a week since I saw Wicked and I can’t get over how good it was. I’ve seen both Phantom of the Opera and CATS, and Wicked beats both of them hands down. The music, production, and acting were superb.
Without giving too much away, Wicked is the story of the beginning of Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship and how each of them became who they are. The story is heartwarming, hilarious, and emotional. The two main actresses were so good. I feel like they fully understood and developed their characters and it really translated well to the audience. And their singing was remarkable.
The music to Wicked will get stuck in your head for days. «Defying Gravity» is such an ear worm. At the recommendation of a friend I listened to the soundtrack ahead of time, but I really think it’s best to listen to it live if you’ve never heard the songs before. The power behind the vocals just doesn’t come across on a recorded version.
I wish I had sprung for the more expensive seats down on the floor level. The mezzanine seats aren’t bad, but if you have bad eyesight like me, you can’t really see the faces of the actors which takes away some of the personality the actors bring to their characters. I paid $ 99 for my ticket to see Wicked. If I get the chance to see it again (which I would do in a heartbeat), I would pay more for the better seats.
Seeing a broadway show is not cheap, but with Wicked you are getting your money’s worth. It’s really a show for all ages. I saw children to teenagers to elderly. There is something for everyone. If you love catchy music, Wicked is for you. If you love smart humor or emotional acting, Wicked is for you. You really can’t go wrong with it. So shell out some cash and have a great evening out seeing this magnificent show!

Wicked is definitely one of the best Broadway shows now and really ever, especially as you look back at the shows that have had at least ten years on Broadway. The show is still pretty much sold out at every performance and the lead performers continue to be top notch. I’ve seen the show many times both on Broadway and touring in several different cities and it never gets old and is always a fun and enjoyable experience.

Ce spectacle est vraiment sensationnelle, nous étions proche de la scèné et le show est vraiment incroyable, magique, beautiful… Les costumes et décors sont au top et les voix sont extraordinaires … J’ai vraiment été impressionné par ce spectacle, juste une note négative la clim dans la salle vraiment très forte !! Dommage !

Ce n’était pas mon premier show à Broadway, c’était mon second, mais pour les deux, j’ai eu UNE CHANCE INOUIE !
Je vous raconte. En gros, pour pas mal de spectacles à Broadway, une loterie est organisée 2−3h avant le début des shows. Le principe, c’est de faire une file (souvent longue mais ça avance rapidement), de mettre son nom dans une boîte et d’attendre en suite le tirage (environ 10×2 places distribuées à prix cassés!). J’ai gagné la loterie pour les 2 shows que j’ai vus :-). Pour Wicked, c’était vraiment un bol monstre. Les 10 noms avaient été tirés parmi plusieurs centaines, et pour l 10ième, personne né s’est montré. Ils ont donc retiré un nom au sort et BAM ! Le nom de ma copine, hourrrrra !
Donc ces billets magiques vous donnent droit contre 25 $ ± d’assister au spectacle au premier rang ! Et ouais !
Wicked, c’était juste magique. pour l’histoire, je vous renvois vers notre ami Wikipedia qui a une bien meilleure mémoiré :
. Mais ce que je retiens, c’est que ça bouge dans tous les sens, les décors sont juste Awsome, on né s’ennuie pas une microseconde. Au premier rang, j’avais la chance de voir l’orchestre (oui oui, c’est des vraies humains qui jouent et pas des mp3 !) qui se situait en dessous de la scèné, un truc de fou. Ils étaient tous casé dans des mini espaces, impressionnants.
En gros, des spectacles comme ça, c’est juste bluffant, on a pas l’habitude de ça en Europe…
Donc j’oblige les gens qui liront cet avis à aller voir ce genre de show à Broadway ! Même en mode prix normal à 100 $, ça vaut la peine. Que vous aimiez ou pas le théatre, on s’en fout, ça n’a rien avoir ;-)
