The food was good as usual but the service provided by Karle was worse than bad if there was a service from her. I ordered the steak to be well-done, but it was pink the first time it was put on the table. She then took it away after I told her about it, and took it back a few minutes later when my boyfriend noticed it was still pink right away. It looked like she put my original food onto a new plate and put it in a microwave or something to simply heat it a bit but when I cut the steak in the middle it was just as pink as it was first served. I looked for her but she was not around like the first time I found the steak was pink. A store manager came to us and asked what happened, then she offered us a fresh new dish and dessert. Another server helped give a coke refill at this point, which Karle should have noticed when she came here and took away the pink steak at the first time. Then Karle came checking whether we wanted a dessert because the manager offered it and we said no we did not need a dessert. Then she gave us the check saying my dish was taken away from the check and asked how we wanted to pay(my boyfriend had finished his meal at this point) and was ready to send us away. She expressed no sorry at this point. I told her the manager said she would give us a new dish and I was still hungry(had not finished half of the meal before she took the whole plate away), and we were waiting for the new one. I looked at her name tag, which I felt was the only reason she expressed sorry when she was back again bringing us the check. The manager brought back a new dish quickly, wait for me to cut the steak in the middle to make sure there was no blood and sincerely expressed her sorry. When I finished, Karle came back with the check again looking me in the eyes with no sorry on her face but a smile saying she was sorry for the inconvenience but at least I enjoyed my meal. I did not enjoy the meal at all because of her poor service(no refill, served pink when I ordered well-done, served pink again when I asked her to reheat it, wanted us to pay and leave when I was still hungry and we were waiting for the new dish, and most importantly no sincere apology). I went to the Applebee’s hoping to enjoy my lunch with my boyfriend and we would pay generous tips if we have a good experience to show our thanks to the server. Just filling my stomach for free with a bad experience was not something I was looking for when I entered Applebee’s. Karle talked like she was doing a charity job by not charging me the steak and I should thank her. No I was not thankful at all. I would rather Karle did her job and let us pay for the foods(We were planning to pay for the new dish the manager brought, but the manager took my dish off the check, which was beyond my expectation. The sweet manager is the only reason I am not leaving a one-star rating here), because that way we would have left Appllebee’s with happy hearts. It was when I decided I have to leave a comment on the Internet so Karle will not ruin another person’s experience. I might go to Applebee’s again in the future when we want to have the good steak or rib but we would definitely ask to change the server if we hear we are assigned to Karle.

I took my husband there to celebrate his getting a new job. When we got there we had a 20 minute wait which I did not have a problem with. They were busy and I understand that. While we were waiting they called a party of 10. The party was seated and then another party with the same last name shows up! The wrong party was seated. The second party was the right party. Apologies all over the place of course but that was it. Ok that was first impression. Now onto our food. We ordered the 2 for 25 deal. We both ordered Caesar salads to start. Mine was delivered and I had to ask for my husbands because they forgot it! Oops. We both ordered the sirloin large. Honestly I thought we ordered petite because it was so small. Why did I pay extra money for large? When it was time to pay the waiter was kind of rude with payment. I didn’t know that you could pay at the table! Will not be back!!!

Sadly one of the worse Applebee’s I have eaten at. Food was bland and cold, place was empty so it should not have been to hard to get our food to us at least warm.

I have very low expectations of Applebee’s but I was amazed at how bad the food and drinks could taste — straight from the microwave I assume. Handcrafted cocktails, from a can. The service got the 2 stars.

The food was good and so was the parking. But the food there is filling, but small, so 4 stars!

Wow! I had a hard time believing how awful the service was. The only reason it gets two stars is because the food was okay – about what you would expect from an Applebee’s or similar chain restaurant – it’s not elegant cuisine, but it’s edible. The food did arrive on time as well, which was nice. It was mainly the staff that was unbelievable. I’m usually pretty sympathetic to poor service at restaurants because there can be a lot of factors that affect the quality and timeliness of food. However, it was clear that the customer was last at this place, based on the staff attitude and actions. I can see why the chain is turning to tablets for ordering food and for payment at the table. I think a robot would have been preferable as a server and probably more human.

After the manager said that they were super busy, I counted numerous empty tables. I also watched a few tables walk out because no waitstaff approached their table to greet them and take a drink order. The time was 3:50pm on a Sunday. At our table, we waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Finally food arrived after a 35 minute wait in an empty restaurant. Nothing unusual was ordered… three covers of baby back ribs. With numerous choices in the Newark Delaware area, we won’t be back.

The staff was super helpful and polite. I had the Margarita Queso chicken which was delicious! My friend had the Cowboy burger which was cooked just the way he wanted it(pink). For appetizer we had boneless buffalo wings that had great flavor. The drinks were consistent tasting too; I see the bartenders measuring everything out to ensure the proper drink is made. It was someone’s birthday at another table and they brought out a complimentary dessert ice cream for them. Great place to eat on a budget; their happy hour deals are great and so it their 2 for $ 20.

How do you screw up a baked potato? Well they managed to do it. Hard as a rock on the inside and not even hot. The vegetables were real good and seemed to be nice and fresh. The steak was ok. A little chewy and was well done not med-well like I ordered. Don’t think I will be back here. I do have to say the wait staff was really good. Checked with us several times during the meal and were up and friendly. Food does need some work so the whole meal comes out good not just part of it.

Typical Applebee’s. Food and service is consistently good. 2 for 20 is a nice idea!

It was lower end as far as what I think of as the Fridays genre of restaurants. When you travel you hope to find a so so meal at one of these chains. This was sub par. We ordered the appetizer sampler platter and meals for two hungry kids and my wife and I. After about 30 min. our meals showed up, but no sampler platter. When I told them that I didn’t want the sampler platter after all they did apologize and told us they would take the charge off the bill. The food was so so with a lack of blue cheese in my Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad, I had to really hunt for it. If I pass through there again, I will probably try out a different Fridays genre restaurant.

It’s a pretty standard Applebee’s. The service is good, the food is average and it’s easy to reach from I-95. It also takes University of Delaware’s Off Campus Meal Plan supposedly.
