Brooklyn’s Best Bagels

I’ve been going here regularly for a month. Yesterday, because I hadn’t any cash, I had the nerve to pay for my $ 1.65 tea in coins and was one cent short. I rummaged through my bag for a penny, at the insistence of the cashier. A kind gentleman behind me offered me a penny, to which the lady behind the counter instructed him, in Spanish, not to give to me, as she wouldn’t accept HIS penny for MY tea. Needless to say, that’s the last penny they’ll ever get from me.

I rarely review anything. But this thing in my hand right now, a perfectly crispy-​and-​chewy-​in-​the-​right-​places everything bagel, filled (not spread) with scallion cream cheese worth licking off the fingers of someone you love, stacked with a generous portion of pretty amazing smoked salmon. Yes, this thing. I just wanted to say, it is. delicate. And gratifying. And delectable.
That’s a trifecta hard to beat in the bagel, NAY, in ANY gourmet world.
The ladies that serve are at least trilingual, speaking perfect Spanglish with me, and they accept card.
$ 9 cannot give you more options, permutations and combinations, served with a real smile in this town. Take my word.

Efficient, friendly service.
Decent choice of bagels for the size of the place. Cream cheeses were nice too. Also had a good selection of drinks, including coffee.
Payment by credit card is now available.

The ladies who work here are really nice and friendly. Cash only. I have only had bagels here and they are as mediocre as any place that doesn’t make them fresh. They are not bad but Zaros bagels are better. Shorter line is a plus but. I have had bagels from Brooklyn and these don’t taste as good.

Just opened in Newark Penn Station replacing the Express coffee stand which closed several months ago. Small coffee was $ 1.65. Fast friendly service. Cash only for now. But coffee is better at McDonalds. A major step-​down from Express which had great coffee.
