Horrible just plain horrible. My wife and I were here 3 weeks ago for brunch and it was pretty good. Tonight the«D» squad must have been on because it was monday. I ordered a bottle beer which came after about 10 min, my wife ordered a Moscow mule which our server said the bartender had to check for ginger beer(same issue durring brunch.) About 20 min went by before confirmation that the drink could not be made. We ordered wings as an app, a tuna salad and a burger all of which came out at the same time. At this point we say f it we will eat all of it together. The salad was literally a piece of what looked like steamed tuna on cabbage, that was $ 15, insane. Our wings were tasty but under dresses and the blue cheese is watered down to save some cash. The burger was suposed to be Medium rare and came out well done on a bagel not the bun we requested. The kicker of the whole meal was when we sent it back the kitchen took my burger which was over done and cut completely in half was given a fresh piece of cheese and placed on a bun. This is rediculous, and not even a manager came by to apologize. I work in food service and this was completely opposite of what you expect on a night out. We will never dine here again, there are far better dinning experiences on main street that care about food and not just tend to UD students. The best Bite I had tonight was my 11 month Olds chixken from the kids meal!

Well, it was good while it lasted. The food here is still fine, but until this business gets their staff together and improves their service, I can only give them one out of five stars. Last night was the epitome of terrible; my three friends and I waited over 45 minutes for our food, and when it did arrive, my french fries were cold and dry, my friend’s steak was overcooked(and even burnt in some places), and the waiter was so distracted we didn’t even get a chance to tell him what was wrong. I have had too many inaccurate orders to sit patiently any more. Klondike Kate’s needs to improve the quality of service it provides to guests, or more people like myself will be taking our dollars and our stomachs elsewhere.

Waiting for pick up orders take so long even when the restaurant isn’t crowded, servers and hostesses are helpful despite shitty management. Food is definitely good and worth the annoyances. Yet another horrible take out experience with no special requests granted. Almost ready to completely nix this place.

Came here to celebrate St Patty’s Day. Was a lot of fun and they had bagpipers come through the restaurant a few times which is always nice. Had the cream of crab soup which was just as good as I remember it being years ago. We also shared a kids grilled cheese even though we kind of wanted the adult one but it was really good and plenty for us to share since we were doing a snack around. Would come back again especially for bagpipers on Sat Patty’s Day.

Although I support local businesses this is one I am «iffy» about. Food is good, drink prices are reasonable. The staff is either on their game, or not attentive at all. Having outdoor seating is a plus I will add.

Kate’s has good specials, good food, and cheap drinks. Building is super old and beat up. Lots of history.

Very sad that I have to downgrade a review of a place I loved at one point. However, the quality of service in my 4 years on campus has gone down considerably. Second, the deals that keep college kids feed for an appropriate price are all but lies with the newly acquired take out fee*. Oh and you think they would make you aware of such a price change? NOPE, roll up to receive my normal Thursday wings and see an additional dollar charge, the reasoning is from a bar tender; «we weren’t making enough money to cover the deals» simply put we found a way to extort college students out of more money. Well I hope you enjoy you 10% fee on take out, as much as you enjoy loss of business and lowering of reviews. If you support corrupt business practice along with sub par(on mainstreet) food, this is the place for you!

This place has character. I had a the Cobb Salad that was better than average. Service was friendly. Guy I was wish had a one of the sandwiches and it looks good! I probably should have not order healthy because the food looked good.

Came for lunch while it was really nice outside so we sat on their large outdoor deck. They had some really good happy hour specials from 3 – 7 I think but we came closer to 2:30. I had the tuna wrap for lunch which was fresh and tasty. Whats really cool about Klondike’s is any sandwich or wrap or burger comes with your choice of the many sides. I opted for the roasted vegetables which were great. No complaints here.

I’ve lived in Newark my entire life, and I probably have gone to Klondike’s around 250 times. I’ve lived roughly 900 weeks, and saying(conservatively) that I’ve gone here once a month my whole life, it comes out close to 250 visits. Having been here so much, I was tempted to only give it 4 stars because it’s a matter of «been there, done that» to me, but the place is really good. I’ve probably tried 75% of the items on the menu, and you can’t go wrong with any of them. The nachos and wings are my favorites, but they also have some great entrees, like the penne alla vodka. Smokers– don’t waste money on a lighter, Klondike’s has free matches(or better yet– don’t smoke you hedonistic pig). Go to KK, it’s the heart of Main Street. Cheaper than Iron Hill Brewery and has better food than Deer Park.

I went tonight with 8 people. I have to say i wasn’t impressed. Service was slow. They were packed however so they do a good business regardless. I sure wouldn’t wait to eat here though. For appetizers we had the pretzels, nachos and cheesesteak egg rolls. The pretzels were good, the nachos were decent and the egg rolls were terrible. Entrees were a cheesesteak, French dip, ruben, Caesar salad, steak, cheese burger, and southern fried chicken salad. My son liked the steak. The rest of us… We walked away from the table wondering what was for dinner. We won’t be back… Except for drinks :)

Overall a good experience. However, the Buffalo boneless wings tastes very salty and sour, I had one bite and I stopped eating the wings. Servers are very good-looking and welcoming.

Loved this! My colleague had crab cakes, I had the French beef dip. Very, very good. We sat outside because it was so beautiful. Loved the people watching. Our server was excellent. They were busy, but he was very attentive.

Klondike Kate’s, which is in the main strip at the University of Delaware, is the perfect place to go if you’re planning to get sloshed, or looking for food after you’ve gotten sloshed. Not that this kind of food is a bad thing, and it’s probably perfect for the usual clientele, but it’s not something I’d have all the time. Don’t get me wrong. Service was good, and the outside seating was a great way to people watch as we got a feel for the campus the night before new student orientation. My meal had some really nice highlights, but it was uneven. The fried chicken was too greasy, and the crab too salty. The zucchini were really well seasoned, but they were two different colors with half of the batch looking like it had been boiled too long. At the table there was also a rack of ribs which was really excellent. The ribs were meaty and fall-off-the-bone tender, but a bit too much fat was left on them which proved to be a surprise under the sauce. We started with the cheesesteak eggrolls which were OK but, like the chicken, soaked up a bit too much oil. Everything was also a bit too salty. So, I don’t think I’d make an effort to return but, since it was half-price entrée Sunday, I’m going to be generous with my stars and give them three.

Stopped here on the way through to Philly. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food; the wings were awesome, and the pretzel dippers were delicious. The atmosphere was fun, we ate out on the patio at night which allowed us to see the college town atmosphere in full swing.

Easter Sunday. Dropping my daughter off at UD after her spring break. This actually was my second time at Kate’s. Both times I was disappointed. The first time I ordered empanadas, and they were so over cooked I could not cut them with my fork. I sent them back and ordered a NY strip steak. It was actually pretty good. This time my wife, daughter and I all ordered the NY strip steak. We all asked for medium rare, but we got three different temps. Daughters was well done mine was medium and wife’s was medium rare. Kind of a disappointment. Shouldn’t be difficult to get three steals for the same table cooked to the same temp. As an app, we ordered the buffalo chicken nachos, and they were very good. I will actually be trying to recreate these at home. On a negative note, both my wife and I used the restrooms, and we both agreed that they were absolutely disgusting. The floors were littered with paper towels, and the floor in the men’s room was wet. Just gross. Since it was Sunday night the entrees were half price. Almost makes all the other problem overlookable. If I do ever return, it would only be on a Sunday because the prices were so good.

YUM! The wings here are deeeeeelicious. Everytime I go, my family asks me to bring some home they taste good even as leftovers. The crab bisque is also super thick, flavorful and creamy — pretty filling and tastes like I’m at a high end seafood restaurant. The atmosphere is very divey and chill, esp since its on a college campus. My one complaint is when I last went, there were at least 5 wasps surrounding me and my meal at all times. I know this probably isn’t their fault but I’ve also never experienced this anywhere else despite sitting outdoors at various restaurants in the summer/spring time. There seemed to be a nest nearby as other customers were having the same issue.

I was on Main Street in Newark, DE for business and was completely surrounded by plenty of options for lunch. I have been to Kate’s before but it has been quite a little while. Once I saw a very welcoming A-frame sign reading ½ price wings, I finalized my decision. Guerilla marketing at its finest! Hey, I had full intentions of going salad but who can pass up a good deal? This place was cranking during the lunch hour. The outside patio as well as the inside seating areas were full. I saw an open seat at the bar, so off I went. I had a great view of a large HDTV(ESPN) on the left hand wall. The only drawback here was that the bar stool did not compliment the counter at all. Listen, I am no Shawn Bradley, but the stools were more than a tad too low for the much higher seated counter. I made a comment to the bartender about this and he informed me that it certainly was not the first time he heard that. Looking around at the other guests at the bar, it really was quite silly looking. Other than wearing a Patriots hat(guess it could have been worse), the bartender was awesome. He was super friendly towards his customers and didn’t miss a beat with the drink refills. So surprise, I went with the half price wings. They were solid and quite reminiscent of those that you would find at your local Hooters. They were heavily breaded but not drenched in sauce like you find at H’s. The accompanying blue cheese was a little bit too runny though. This would have been a solid four stars from me if it wasn’t for the bar stools. I just can’t get over how a mainstay like Kate’s can get away with this. With that being said, I do like Kate’s and look forward to my next visit to the UD area.
