No more ninkimono and no more AYCE. The place is call Hashi now and it is expensive. Do not get tricked… unless you’re willing to shell some money. Although some of the food is okay, price was averaged $ 30+ a person and some of us left not feeling filled.

First time here and NEVERAGAIN! I hardly ever give a place one star, but this is definitely the definition of a ONESTAR restaurant! I’m not one of those rude and picky customers and all I expect from a place is at least decent customer service. This place could not even offer that! Waitresses were rude and I felt uncomfortable from the get go… Rushed us to order. They weren’t even busy that night. I was hopeful their food was better than their service, but in fact it was NASTY. Their eduname and mochi didn’t taste right(?) and how can you mess up that? I ordered their muscles… $ 4.00 for 3 shells that came with a watery flavorless sauce. OMG. WTF? This place is soo bad that I couldn’t even tip them and I’m not even embarrassed to say that.

Came here a few times with friends. Mostly, I come with the guy that knows the owner so we usually get some sort of discount. Every time that I came here, it was dinner time, so we always get the all you can eat dinner special along with some alcohol… because my friends are the biggest alcoholics ever. Anyways. We usually order a ton of food. Some of the especially good ones would include their sashimi(absolutely fresh and delicious, and they also orient it to make it look like flower blossoms), lion king roll, rainbow roll, and dragon roll. We also usually get miso soup and edamame, which was just average. My friends really love the oysters that they kept ordering, but I’m not a fan of oysters, so I didn’t try it. For dessert(I’ve only ordered dessert once), we ordered some ice cream and banana tempura with ice cream. The small little scoops of ice cream wasn’t really worth it, but everyone enjoyed the banana tempura with ice cream. Ohh! And one more thing, they have karaōke here! For every 60 $ you spend, that’s one free hour of karaōke. Yaaaay.

My friend picked this place to be his birthday dinner(all you can eat sushi) last night and it was the BIGGESTMISTAKE of the year! We got there around 8:05 and the place was semi busy, we were relocated to the other the side of the joint(the Chinese café) because we have a party of 12, everything was cool until we start ordering food. We turned our first order sheet in around 8:15, we ordered enough food for 12 people and we did not get our first round until 9:00. Not to mention we only got 4 out of 16 orders. And we have to beg for our sashimi. After 2 cigarettes and 15 minutes later(its 9:15), each of us finally got 1 tiny piece of the no-so-fresh sashimi, but the rolls are still missing. We finally gave up and decide to order the 2nd time since all of us are starving and all. By the time the waitress picked up our order sheet, she told us that we can’t order more than 3 order per person. Big mistake because we were literally starved for almost an hour before we have any food intake, not to mention we still have not receive all of our previous orders. It was 9:15pm Then 5 minutes later, another waitress came and ask us if we need more food because its the last call. I was so upset that I can no longer to hold my composure and bluntly asked that waitress: «Is it my concern? I still haven’t receive my food!». Then my bro asked that waitress to call the boss because we are no longer interest in eating here. Another 5 minutes gone by and the same waitress came out and said the boss is willing to give us 50% discount on the bill. But we have yet to have our food. We are so fed up that we starting to tell the boss to come out because it is not justified. Finally the boss came to us @ 9:25 and talk to us, we all told her what happened and we are being super reasonable. Then we suggested that we would pay for what we had ate, but she stood her ground hard. Until 9:30, she finally gave in and said she is going to get us the menu. But guess what? It is 9:35 and we have yet to receive the menu, and we were literally left at our table with no priced menu. Finally we couldn’t stand it anymore and just left $ 40 on the table and leave. She then had the guts to chase after us and ask us why we only left $ 40. Then one of my friend said: «We have asked our food, you didn’t give us any. When we want to leave and ask for a priced menu for a clear calculation, you said to give us but only to leave us there.» Then we all drove away with a kind of empty stomach and bad mood. This is definitely THEWORST experience ever! I WILLNOTGOTHEREANYMOREAND I WILLNOTSUGGESTANYONETHAT I KNOWOR I DON’T KNOWTOGOTHEREEVER!!!

So the traffic back to the Peninsula was bad so I decided to stop in Newark to visit a friend and grab some food tonight. I should have sticked to just visiting a friend. I saw all the advertisement on the outside about all-you-can-eat and if 2 people get all-you-can-eat, you can get the 2nd one for 50% off. I didn’t see any other options on this side of the street so I decided to check it out. The ordering is quite unique. You use a dry-erase marker and you check off on the menu what you want. The waitress takes the menu back to the person making the food and when your food comes out they wipe it clean for your next order. Fish: not fresh. I used to work in a Japanese grocery store and in the fish department and I know when fish is not fresh. The fish they use was not fresh at all. I bit into a snapper sashimi piece and it was warm on the outside and colder in the middle. It wasn’t completely thawed out. Easy sign that shows it was previously frozen. The color of the fish also disappointed me. After the first round of food, I was grossed out. If I get sick, you know why. I ordered beef teriyaki and it was dry. I don’t know how they prepared it but I could only think of throwing the meat in the microwave and then squirting some teriyaki sauce on it. I would like see some other Japanese people try this restaurant and review this place. Maybe I am way off base, but I highly doubt it. My final comment is that I felt like the only thing truly Japanese in this place was me and when I left, well, you get the picture.

We did the all you can eat special there. It was $ 20 bucks for two people! A pretty good deal. I wished they had better special rolls or maybe I’m just picky. I tried all their rolls with spicy tuna since I love spicy tuna! They were all okay. Nothing special. I actually thought their sashimi was pretty good unlike many all you can eat places I’ve tried. They also offer all you can off their appetizer menu which is new to me. At times, I did feel like the waitresses were kinda lost and when they get busy, they lose track of you and your order. They mistaken our order twice. They kept bringing us items that we didn’t order. They messed up on our bill. We kept telling them it was wrong and they kept making changes and it was STILL wrong. I don’t know how that was possible when it was only the two of us. Overall, it was okay experience. It was a nice treat from my boyfriend though to celebrate me finishing another semester at school.

I keep keep KEEP telling my friends this place is GOOD! I was referred here by my friend Mika, who was taken here by her foodie sis Mary V. and I just want to keep going back. I was able to come back a week after my first visit with my bf who said like many other reviews here mentioned«ALLYOUCANEATSUSHI» must not be good at $ 20. But was he surprised. I like their made to order everything. There’s rolls, nigiri, croquettes, teriyaki, sashmi, and a lot more on their all you can eat menu. The deal is they have 2 sheets of menu, one for sushi and one for the kitchen, each person gets to order 2 items from each menu at a time. TOTAL fair deal. You can’t eat with your eyes and the food comes fresh. Also, for every $ 60 you spend you can karaōke for an hr. I’ve made plans to come here again with a friend in Dec. I hope that it goes through!

This is not the review for the Sushi bar so if you are going there please disregard. I don’t speak cantonese so obviously they got a few orders wrong and said I did ordered it even though i pointed to the menu items. The HK baked items had pretty mediocre sauce which is nothing compared to Venus which is only a block away. I would give it one star if it weren’t for the free hour of karaōke that we got with our $ 60 bill and also $ 20 per hour after. I would say please try the sushi all-you-can-eat but just from this experience I am going to stay away for a while.

What used to be the best sushi in town has split into a mediocre sushi place, a ok hong kong café(under some other name), and a karaōke bar. So I guess that is one star for each.

So one of me homeboys who happens to be a fan of AYCE suggested this place after trying this one day, as well as driving by it when he ate at IHOP one afternoon. I don’t know how he found this place. Compared to the other shopping centers across the street, the shopping center Ninkimono is in is almost freakin wasteland. Jurassic is extinct, Lucky’s had the unfortunate experience of closing down, and Cattlemen’s has moved on to greener pastures. Like all these puns? Keep reading. It’s pretty nice and clean inside, and it wasn’t too busy when I came here on a Friday evening for dinner. Another plus is that they have a few flat screen TVs on the walls showing different programs. The sushi chef at the bar was kind enough to hand us the remote so we could catch an NBA playoff game. Talk about customer service! What I like about their menu is that they offer a variety of your typical AYCE sushi appetizers, something Sushi 85/Factory/Infinity lacks. Take note. Gyoza, calamari, katsu, etc. dinner is only $ 19.95, but when I saw the menu I understood why. Their menu pales in comparison to the triad I mentioned above, but its nice that they offer different things than what I normally get. Hey, AYCE sushi bars are not as common up here as opposed to SoCal. A couple rolls I remember eating were the Redwood and the Rainbow roll. I’m a fan of rainbow rolls because it usually contains a variety of fish on top, and variety is the spice of life according to Tony Horton… the instructor from P90x. I probably would have pegged my review down to a solid 3 stars due to the fact that this menu was rather limited compared to what I’ve had before. Though the service was excellent, I’ll give it 3.5 stars instead. Too bad Unilocal does not allow that. The food is pretty decent, but I’d rather fork over the extra buck or two for more variety. The appetizers are nice, but I can do without it. For the sake of a commute from Union City, I’ll consider coming back here since its close compared to everywhere else. worth at least 1 try.

For the lunch all you can eat, the sushi is fresh and portion is decent. Excellent Rock n Roll roll and hamachi. The spicy tuna tasted a little of bbq. I also tried the saba and it was good too. I plan to go back for all you can eat sushi dinner which also includes all you can eat shabu and the $ 1 drink specials. They are planning to add more items to the menu. Plenty of parking-nice to have an all you can eat sushi joint in the tri-city area.

Been in a couple of times and turned down their all-your-fat-ass-can-eat menu, cuz that’s how I roll, but more accurately due to the lack of appetizing options on it. Weak nigiri options, no maguro, no hamachi, no saba, common now, who we foolin’ here?! Last time here, I owed someone a b-day meal so we kinda splurged. 2 large brews– 2nd time they were out of my fave, Kirin. Whole grilled squid– grilled body cut into thin rings, just ok. Coulda used some sauce. Ahi Poke– nice chunks of tuna, but dressing a little bitter and a little on the«too» spicy side. Bacon wrapped Scallops– Pretty darn good, but how can you screw up anything wrapped in bacon?! Assorted sushi and sashimi combo– Nice portions but quality not on par with what I consider good. A notch above passable. Split bottle of cold, dry sake– Can’t remember name but quite good. Fried eggplant– pleasant vegetable break amongst this feast. Salmon Skin Handrolls– above average presentation but average flavor. Total not including tip bout $ 90. Decent enough place with service being quite friendly, but with the wealth of options out here, it just might lose out. And no, I will not be enticed with your all u can eat for 10 bucks, I just don’t roll that way.

If my friend didn’t ask me to come try their all you can eat lunch special for $ 14.99 I wouldn’t have come today. The owner is this lady who is Cantonese so I already knew they’re gonna be shady about things. They take their god damn time to make the trash they dare call sushi. I understand that it’s all you can eat and the slower we eat, the quicker we get full. But for real? There was only ONE other table at the moment there is no way I should have enough time to take a quick nap before the second round of food even gets here. The wait is so long that it straight up deters me from ordering again because of all the time I have to waste. These guys have business all wrong. The trick is to make it seem like you want to be honest to the customers and treat them well, not just straight shafting us like we’re dummies and can’t tell the difference. That is almost discourteous to us customers of the non-retarded type. I feel like I got tricked into eating here because of the«all you can eat» gimmick. Personally, I like all you can eats not because of the quantity, but because of the variety. And they only have a hand full of items to select from, all of which pretty much taste the same, like crap. If eating crap and wasting time is your thang, then I highly recommend Ninkimono.

This was my third AYCE meal in two days!!! I met up with some old college friends and we came here for dinner to feast on the AYCE shabu shabu. The AYCE here is only $ 25 and you not only get shabu, but you can pick from a list of rolls, appetizers, and other goodies( ). We went on Friday, so they had $ 1 beer!!! We ordered the chicken karaage(was too hungry and forgot to take a pic), Philadelphia roll(still too hungry for pic), Godzilla & Super Dynamite rolls( ). The beef for the shabu was pretty decent( ). It was thinly sliced, but some of the plates were fattier than others. They also give you napa cabbage, shiitake & enoki mushrooms, tofu and imitation crab meat. They only down side for me was the broth… it was pretty plain, so I would use a lot of the ponzu sauce. Ask for the chopped garlic so you can add some zing to your sauce. The service was spotty at times. They forgot our rolls, so we had to ask for them. There were a few other times we had to ask for things twice because they were running around for the dinner rush. Overall the food was good, and they had a good variety of other items to choose from. AYCE and $ 1 beer on Friday… I think my tummy will be back one day.

I didn’t hate the place, but i didn’t loke it either. Maybe like it… for a quiet restaurant that it is, we still had to call our waitress over to refill our teas several times. I noticed most of the tables around us had the hot pot/hibachi thing going. Since the rolls weren’t impressive, we may have to try the hibachi thing. — but i’m going out to pay some one else to cook my food. not me cook the food…

My tried and true are the negihama maki and the white tuna tataki. For only six slices of tuna, it’s a little pricey for $ 13. But complemented with the fried onions and tobiko, it’s pretty worth it. This dish has nice contrasting texture and flavor. The soy-sesame sauce leaves a nice aftertaste. It’s reminiscent of the seared tuna with crispy onions at Katsu-ya in LA. Actually, it seems like a decent attempt at being a copycat. But nice try Ninkimono. Not too shabby. Not a bad place for some good rolls, but I would definitely steer clear of anything else. The ramen was a flavorless chicken broth. :(

Our recent visit to this restaurant was nowhere near as good as previous visits. I can only guess a change in management, or maybe the planets weren’t aligned that day. But we had brought family here to dine, and the staff at Ninkimono picked the wrong day to drop the ball. Problem #1: We are seated with 6 people, and only get 2 menus. We ask for more menus, and get 1 more menu. No good. Problem #2: The menus themselves have a single binder ring on the top corner, which makes them impossible to wield and navigate. Then there’s this separate pamphlet with photos of the dishes. Wrong. I don’t have time to cross reference all this paperwork. Problem #3: We were waited on by all four food servers in random order. I was the only person at our table who had ordered from the sushi bar, so it turns out that everyone’s about halfway through their meals while I’m sitting there waiting with my beer. I see the plate ready at the bar, and make eye contact with the nearest server, who is walking right towards me, and she asks«how is everything?». I was astonished that she didn’t figure out that I was foodless, so I waved my arms in frustration and said«How’s my order coming??». Then she brought my plate. Problem #4: Fish quality was not fresh. Enough said. Please improve, Ninkimono, then I will return.

I should’ve known. Sushi in Newark? Sushi in the East Bay? **ALLROLLSBELOWDONOTCONTAINRAWFISH(I was with a pregnant woman). Kirin Roll($ 10.95) — Softshell crab inside, unagi, avocado, tobiko, sesame seed & scallions. The softshell crab was pleasant… not overly dried or fried like a lot of other places. I feel like if they went easy on the sauce, this might actually be a decent roll. There is so much sauce that the orange colored tobiko that falls onto the plate into the sauce turns brown. Raiders Roll($ 9.95) — Kani(fake crab) and avocado inside. Scallop, garlic sauce, tobiko, sesame seeds & tobiko on the outside. Tastes strikingly similar to the Kirin Roll because they drench it with the same sauce. Takes about 15 minutes to come out. Miami Lady Roll($ 12.50) — Shrimp tempura with crab inside, avocado, mango sauce & mango slices on top. This is a whopping $ 12.50 and I’m not sure why. Sure, they put slathers of mangoes on top of your sushi but it doesn’t fit. Maybe if it was just the mango sauce, the roll might have tasted a little simpler but sauce and mango pieces make it just too much. It’s overpowering. Chashu Ramen($ 8.95) — My friend asked me, «how do you know if ramen is good or not?» I say the BROTH. The noodles do have a factor but that’s all personal preference(soft vs. firm) anyway unless they really screw it up. The broth tasted like canned chicken broth. They must’ve used a lot of that. I enjoyed the firmness of the noodles… it was medium firmness. The chashu is a whole other story… it’s less like bbq pork and more like pork with too much fat on it. Luckily the fat falls right off. I EVENUPLOADED A PICTUREOFTHEFAT — TAKE A LOOK. I really really wished our waitress told us we were ordering too much. We asked her how big the rolls were and she said 6 pieces when in fact they all had 8 pieces! That’s actually what prompted us to order the chashu ramen. Boo on her. We tried to cancel but it was too late. There was an older man standing around and occasionally refilling people’s water. I think he could be the owner. He was very friendly when I asked him where the bathroom was and even made sure I was going the right direction. Décor is surprisingly trendy considering the outside area and the fact that it’s by Cattleman’s. Actually when I first got out of my car, all I could smell was beef in the air. Bathrooms are very clean. I hear this place constantly switches owner. Note to the Owner: Lighten up the sauce on the rolls and you’ll do just fine(I hope).

I love rice. I love raw fish. Rice + Fish = My love for SUSHI! Thank you Unilocal for suggesting an awesome Japanese restaurant!!! THEBEGINNING: + Nice welcoming from the hostess. She brought us to the table promptly. + The warm hand towel was a nice touch! In addition, love the free edamame beans as appetizer. + Hmm. so many choices on the menu. Not sure what to choose. I like how this place has pictures of the menu options! What a wonderful idea! After 10 – 15 minutes of deliberation, we ordered the food. EATINGTIME: + Yay! Free miso soup! + Vegetable tempura($ 5.95) came out first. Good combination of vegetable– received broccoli, yam, japanese squash, and carrots. The problem was that the veggies were lukewarm, instead of steaming hot. Only the thicker pieces of veggies were hot. The tempura batter became soggy in a couple minutes. + Mojo Roll($ 10, forgot the actual price) — one of the specialty rolls. MmmMM. this roll is so good!!! The roll was wrapped with kani and salmon with tuna inside. Yum! Love the tobiko on the roll. Very fresh fish! Highly recommended! + Godzilla Roll($ 4.95) — the picture looked better than it tasted. This was a deep fried roll with a choice of tuna or salmon inside in a spicy sauce. We chose tuna as the filling. Again, the frying power was weak. The sushi was a bit weird, especially with the teriyaki and sriracha sauce. + Raiders Roll($ 9.95) — Another yummy roll! This is one of the better baked sushi rolls that I had! The roll had kani and avocado inside with scallop and garlic sauce n top. In addition, the roll had tobiko and sesame seeds! I pretty much scrapped any leftover rice in the foil after we finished all the roll. The sauce was good! Portion is a bit small, and you have to wait 15 minutes for the sushi. + Deluxe Sushi Combo($ 18.95) — Very fresh assorted sushi and sashimi. The bf loved the yellowtail since the pieces were marbled and fresh! He’s not a yellowtail fan either! THEEND: + Tummy is full of sushi and fresh fish. Food coma time. OVERALL: Service is superb! Our water glasses were always filled. In addition, the food came out promptly. Our waitress was also friendly. The food was also awesome!!! If you want, you can also order the all you can eat shabu shabu for $ 25. If you want to do karoke, this place was 4 Deluxe VIP Rooms. You can sing your heart out and eat sushi! How fun!
