This bar is not closed. The bar has been sold to Mr. John Harvey. We are open. Come on down and see us. Pete is still here, As, the rest of the great bartenders. Please join us on St Paddy’s Day. Great corned beef and cabbage.

I don’t know why this bar is listed as closed. The bar has changed ownership but it has NOTCLOSED. As I write this review on March 6, 2016 I am currently sitting in the bar having a good drink, served by the bartender Nadine. Don’t worry, the place is open!

Divey little bar with a quasi-sports theme. Pool table, classic old school bar and very mixed crowd. I find myself in here every three or four months when I have business in Newark. Vibe changes as the hours roll on. Early it is quiet with an after work crowd, then the rowdier crowd, then finally the lushes. They do have a few decent beers on draft and the booze on the bar seems to be of a reasonable selection.

pretty typical dive bar, but its not my scene and to be honest unless you know people that work here or goes here a lot it won’t be your scene either. only been there once and it was full of bros and bikers

Divey little place with cheap beer. Internet jukebox is a plus. Ray is a cool as bartender.

This bar may not be the best looking and smelling bar, but everyone here is friendly. Drinks are cheap, bartenders are great. Older reviews speak of fights breaking out often, and a sketchy crowd. But that is not the case. I frequent this bar and can honestly say I never see fights. As far as sketchy people go, don’t judge a book by its cover. This bar is our«Cheers». It doesn’t need to be a fancy pants bar. #pubfamily is the best.

The only reason I have posted 4 stars is because of Pete.. . It was my first time at this location and the daytime bartender serving me was terrible. After ordering my drink minutes later, I wanted a second.. But, it was hard to get his attention.. .finally when he broke away from the REGULARS… he approached me and replied«I don’t give a F*** cause it’s my last day».. .minutes later Pete arrived and started his routine that he has been doing for 8 years. I give Pete props for making me a return customer.. I believe in first impression.. .. So, with this said.. . Call and ask when PETE is working. …js

Neighborhood oriented dive bar. They do have a pool table and ample seating. The bar tender is very friendly and even came out with a tray of BBQ and other food for patrons to try out. I didn’t eat any but it smelled really good. Their drinks are very reasonable and strong, no bottle counting going on here. They have a lot of regulars and some friendly guy who won at pool even bought everyone a round of drinks. Will most definitely go back when I need a drink close to home.

So, you’ve got your high end lounges, casual lounges, prohibition bars, hotel bars, gastro pubs, Irish pubs, college bars, tiki bars, sports bars, neighborhood bars, and your dive bars. Then you’ve got Gubera’s Pub — divier than a dive bar, but not the kind of dive that’s going to attract the hipsters(if there any in Newark). Rather, more like the residents in and around Newark because I can’t imagine anyone driving further than that just to come here. Now, that probably begs the question of how I ended up here, and I can thank 85 Degrees for that. After seeing tray after tray devoid of bread/buns, my buddy and I decided to grab a drink at the bar closest to us instead, which just so happened to be Gubera’s across the street. Outside, the place is entirely nondescript. Inside has a lot more to it, but not all of it is in a good way. While they may have a jukebox, TV, pool table, and arcade machines, the bar is also dim, musty, and has a smell that only a carpet that’s soaked up years of spilled drinks can create. It is familiar and accepting though, so perhaps that’s why Gubera’s has a stable of regular locals. It is the kind of spot where two guys might go to commiserate about women. Or the world’s apparent shortage of brioche bread. In the end, two stars for the friendly bartender and cheap, cheap drinks. As unlikely as I am to return, I can’t say I left too upset after only paying $ 5 for a fairly generous pour of Makers Mark neat. Especially since I couldn’t use that money towards a couple of custard buns like how I had planned…

We came here on a Friday night for a few drinks with some friends. My girlfriend and I ordered two Jack and Cokes($ 5/each). Both of them had so much soda I just about got a toothache. Luckily, I had my handy-dandy flask of Jack with me otherwise I would have never got a buzz. After my two weak Jack and Coke’s, decided to switch to a beer. Sat there for 10 minutes staring at dude while he fumbled through credit card tabs and the side of the bar nearest the door before I walked away. I guess when you are in the ‘Asshole Corner’ of the bar, you gotta be an asshole to get a drink? He didn’t acknowledge us once. As far as the décor, there’s a place to sit, 1 pool table, a TV or two and a jukebox with a large variety of music. The crowd was a little on the iffy side — quite a few old, creepy men and a big group of ladies grinding on the floor and each other. Yeah, won’t be back. I don’t even know how the place has 3 ½ stars.

Definitely a dive bar. But one of the only places to get a drink in Newark. Friendly bar tenders, stiff drinks, cheap beer, interesting people watching for sure. Cool little neighborhood spot. I’ve only gone during the day, early evening and it seems safe. Not sure how it is at night…

It has alcohol, a place to sit with your friends, a pool table, and I think a TV. If your in the area and need all or one of these things, you’re in luck. But don’t expect much else. And very friendly bartenders.

Cheap(affordable) bar Nice bartender Nasty perverted patrons(no bueno) First time coming here was with a girlfriend and we had no idea what it would be like. The bartender made me a Pink Pussy and my friend a Jack and Coke, our total came out to $ 8!!! That’s normally 1 drink elsewhere. If you’re used to the hip scene, bar atmosphere, this is NOT even close! There’s a pool table inside, a juke box, big screen TV and seats randomly spread out. What irks me is the patrons– loser old men who leave their wife at home to hit on young chicks in skimpy outfits on Friday nights when there’s $ 1 jello shots. My friend and I got hit on by some creeper as we stepped out for some fresh air. Everyone seems to know everyone here, I guess that’s what happens when there’s no actual downtown scene in Fremont. If you want cheap beers/alcohol, this is a place to go, otherwise I’d drive a bit further down to SJ or SF for some real bar hopping party scene!

Driving up to Gubera’s and seeing a bunch of people hanging out in front, staring at my car, definitely made me want to make a u-turn out of the parking lot. However, it was 2 minutes until midnight and my cousin was about to turn 21 so I decided to suck it up. Honestly, this is one of those«don’t judge a book by its cover» cases. When we walked in we could tell this was definitely a local’s/regular’s type of joint. It was quite obvious that we were the newbies on the block. Our bartender, Pete, was incredibly sweet and everyone else wished my cousin a happy birthday once they found out she finally hit 21. Unlike other bars that are frequented by the same people, the people at this bar were nice, down to earth, and easy to talk to. The people, bartenders, and bar hand all made us feel welcome and we made so many new friends that night. Pete did an exceptional job making my cousin signature shots/cocktails such as: Washington apple, purple haze, loopy, and liquid cocaine. My cousin definitely enjoyed her first bar experience thanks to Pete and our new friends at Gubera’s. Would I come back? Hell yes! I think I might become a regular here too.

Gubera’s Pub is a take it or leave it bar. between not offering much service and posting misleading beer info, i’ll leave it. the patrons are a cheers crowd, country, city style. beerlabeled:.domestic(3) imports(4) –longboard, sierra nevada, microbrews are considered«imports» pours: longboard, charged(4), –weaker version, not kona gin & tonic(3.75) –tall, just ok. on draught: –nice people here –didn’t fit in…

Went here several months back to celebrate my friend’s birthday. She’d been here before but I hadn’t. Now I understand it’s a dive bar but even so it just felt so dirty. Two separate fights broke out in the two hours we were there. Not to mention one of our friends kept getting hit on by some creeper all night. If I wasn’t with my boyfriend and a couple other guy friends, I wouldn’t have felt safe there at all. My boyfriend didn’t even like it and doesn’t feel comfortable going back. I’ll give it two stars though because they make cheap drinks. I ordered an AMF and they gave it to me in a full pint glass, for less than it usually costs to get a small glass at other bars. So at least I got drunk quickly and cheaply.
