Ol’ West BBQ

This place SUCKS!!! I went there and all the employees were busy chatting with their friends. The services was very bad and the food was stale. I had the pulled pork sandwich. The pork was dry and tough and the bum was old and stale. Never going back there again.

. This new restaurant in Newark is everything the reviewer cracks it up to be. I have been 4 times and it has not been open a month yet. Everyone I’ve sent there likes it too.
I enjoyed the bbq ribs the most, with 3 sides (I chose collards, slaw, and sweet potatoes). The only negative for me was Yankee corn bread (yuk, Yankees like sugar in it).
I also like their bbq chicken and their plain roasted chicken. Their pulled chicken is also delicious. All portions are generous.
You also get a coupon with your receipt worth $ 2 on your next visit if you spend $ 10+. Actually, for many of the meals, it’s hard to spend $ 10.
The staff is attentive and very competent. They seem to enjoy working there and definitely enjoy serving you at the counter. The place is spotless and large.
The place is right on Broad Street 3 or 4 doors down from the Federal Building, Post Office/​Courthouse, and a block from City Hall going towards the airport. With a little effort you can find short term parking on the street, and there is a paid lot at the corner, opposite Grace Episcopal Church. (Drop in there too, open most of the day — one of New Jersey’s most stunning buildings).
I am very picky about my bbq, and this is the real thing.
I have never seen a frowning customer in there!
