Every time I roll by this place, I just can’t help but shed a tear. This USED to be my all time favorite hangout, but alas, it is no longer with us. The owners, Jimmy and his wife, were some of the nicest store operators out there, and served as somewhat of parental figures for me. Jimmy was really cool because although he is around the same age as my own pops, he could chop it up with the young’ns and totally relate to their life struggles. Unlike most Quickly shop owners, who seem to favor Mandarin or Cantonese speaking clientele, Jimmy served every ethnicity just the same, from any type of Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, and even blacks and Indians. Besides, the standard fare milk tea drinks, Jimmy’s wife cooked up some of the meanest fried rice ANYWHERE. What I would pay to have some of that again. I kid you not… her spicy fried rice was the best to have ever graced these tastebuds, even topping my own mother’s! Sorry mom! =/ She also conjured up some wicked potstickers, popcorn chicken, crepes, red bean pastries, trigons, and squid balls. I am not lying when I tell you that I wouldn’t have traded this place for any of the top spots on my Fremont/Milpitas Chinese food list( )… combined! Unfortunately, all we have now are the memories. It just breaks my heart every time I pass by to see the COMPLETELYEMPTY Mexican restaurant that took over the location. =*(
