I would give zero stars if I could!!! The Stephanie’s on Wilson Ave in Ironbound Newark is the most disgusting excuse for a meal I’ve ever experienced! A few times I even put my meal in the trash. I work in Newark and have ordered from them on a few occasions for lunch hoping«this time will be better than last time.»… But, it never is. One of the things I can’t seem to understand is, why the heck is my food disgustingly oily and dangerously undercooked almost every single time!!! when I ask for GRILLEDCHICKEN why the heck is it deep fried and cold!!? And the delivery guy has a terrible terrible attitude problem.(Notice the two terribles. Yes, it is that bad.) It is a shame because I order food from Stephanie’s in Nutley quite often because I live there and there is a tremendous difference in the quality of the food. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that the lady who works behind the counter is very friendly and polite. Do yourself a favor and don’t even bother with this place. The only reason I think this place is still up and running is because of their income from the other locations.

On Ferry Street in Newark is a nondescript restaurant that serves the most savory barbecue I’ve had in a long time. We walked in for a late lunch and were treated to the most affordable and delicious portuguese barbecue. I ordered the ribs and chicken combo full order and was brought a 3 lb tray of food. This place is all about feeding you, not about charging wicked high prices and leaving you hungry as you leave. The chicken was juicy and the ribs were cooked to the right consistency. A must visit in Newark.

Great portuguese style chicken and ribs easily one of the best in the Ironbound section in Newark. There short ribs are to die for highly suggest.

Portuguese barbecue is a dime-a-dozen in the Ironbound. From my experience, they’re all good, but few are outstanding. Stephanie’s is. First, it’s clean and cute. Let’s be real: ambiance matters. In the land of cheap and good, it’s nice to also enjoy the atmosphere. Second, the chicken is uniformly good. White and dark meat are both great. The fries are cooked well. The rice was a little over cooked, but still good. The boyfriend’s steak was tasty, too. We expected it to be delicious — we could smell the charcoal from the street. This is a great neighborhood place — apparently they deliver, which we will be using.
