We had a double birthday celebration and they did a great job. Our bartenders were great and very professional. Food was delicious. Fun was had by our family and friends! Would definitely have another party at Timothy’s!

Pretty surprised I’ve never reviewed this place before. Been here a few dozen times over the years. It is one of my boyfriends favorite places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Menu is better then you average bar food although we mostly stick to the typical bar items ie nachos, loaded fries, wings, sliders — you get it. Nice outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Also love their smores desert — a tiny fire pit brought to your table — pretty cool. Last night I tried two new things a North Coast Pranqster a Belgian style golden ale and the chicken flat bread. the beer was good and on special for $ 5 bottles — strong enough that I only had two. The flat bread was also really yummy — chicken, avocado, red onion, cheese and a chipotle sauce — I ate the entire thing myself.

We were in Newark for a pre-planned function so we were not able to pick from the menu. We were upstairs in a private room with a buffet and a cash bar. I can say that the staff we excellent — both downstairs when were greeted and told where and how to get upstairs and then upstairs, the staff assigned to our private party were great! The bartenders were friendly and tended to ALL of our needs all evening! The buffet consisted of green salad, macaroni and cheese, breaded chicken with an alfredo type sauce and wonderful roast being slices/carved fresh, mashed potatoes. bread and butter. I would have loved a green vegetable other than green salad but I am sure this had more to do with the party planners than with the restaurant. All the food was delicious — no complaints. Sorry, I can’t speak for the food otherwise — I would consider going back though. It’s close to the UDel campus, great bar and I am sure their regular menu is good too.

Fun place to hang out and enjoy the local crowd and watch the game. Drinks are good and solid beer list. Food is bar food, nothing special. Burgers are best thing on menu. The wings are never cooked enough, so if you want wings, get the double fried ones not the regular wings. The servers are all great.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and wide selection of offerings. Standard bar food but better than most. A great energy on game nights. Bring some friends and money for the jukebox. Conveniently accessible to the greater Newark, DE area.

I will give it to the waitress. She was pleasant and kept up with a very large crowd and kept the beers coming etc. My review is about the entrée. We ordered a lot of appetizers and they were all decent(bar food) but my steak was way over cooked and the sides were nothing to write home about. Not horrible but not the 4 stars everyone else is giving.

I love Timothy’s! It’s comfort food with great drinks on the cheaper side. Crab cake sandwich and fried calamari with their wasabi aoli are the best things ever! Wait, so are their sweet potato tots, I usually get cinnamon sugar on them. Ok the thai chilli wings are really great too. It’s a comfy place to unwind and drink with friends.

Very, very solid restaurant. All the food typical of what’d you expect of an American bar– but this restaurant has two distinguishing factors that set it apart from its competition: its location and scenery and it’s Easter brunch. The place is on the outskirts of downtown Newark and is located adjacent to the beautiful White Clay Creek. You can also see(and easily walk to) the Newark Reservoir. The Easter brunch is phenomenal. Just stay away from the donuts(they’re bland) and everything else is delicious. I really, really like this place.

Well, they hired new staff I think because everyone is really sweet, quick, and does their job. Their manager is always around and available if needed and the hosts are always at the host stand, which wasn’t something that happened before. The food is really good and they have a large variety of choices.

went out with my friend to here, my friend told me that was a bar. they dont have parking lot, so if you are drive then you must park in the parking lot of apt near there . i went out on wed but restaurant was very crowed and noisy… of course it’s a bar. my friend was ordered mahi mahi and I ordered chicken… foods was not real good. Fish and chicken was too dry. We can not finish our foods but we had a great time, laugh and happy … Maybe I will give them another change next time.

I love the food, the steaks, half priced nachos, all you can eat ribs. My mouth is watering just thinking of the food. The service is great and staffs are very friendly. Overall, I’ll definitely will bring more friends so that they can enjoy the food and drinks and the great atmosphere.

Timothy’s has a wonderful bar and a fairly extensive menu. The salads and sandwiches are great. The restaurant is located in an old renovated building next to a creek and has outside seating. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Reasonable prices.

One word — DIRTY. Dirty bar, dirty/sticky menus, dirty bathroom. The towel dispenser in the bathroom was covered in dust and fingerprints like it had not been cleaned… ever. Even my wine glass had crumbs on the bottom of the glass and we hadn’t eaten yet. The food is just OK. Lots of staff standing around chatting with each other. Will not bother again.

28 of us walked in. 0 of us left satisfied. Final rating, 2 Stars. They had a prime opportunity to attract diners outside of Delaware, as we are all here visiting from Maryland, but, unfortunately they failed. It took me 40 minutes to get one glass of water.(Really?) For dinner I had their signature ribs with fries and coleslaw. The food was mediocre to great, but the service was even further below par. As we were a large group, thankfully we entertained ourselves between the major lapses in between our waiter’s visits. If you choose to dine here, don’t expect amazing service. Just expect to be decently fed and served strong beverages.

BLT special was simply fantastic! Summer salad with shrimp well made and presented. Best option in Newark!!!

Ate Here last night & splurged on the prime rib. It was not good — barely room temp and really tough. The vegetable medley was very undercooked with carrots that were nearly raw. The mashed potatoes were pasty. Very disappointed.

This place has some of the best people watching EVER. Does that make me a bad person? Maybe. Girls of UDel, please learn how to control yourselves. Or don’t. More entertainment for me. Oh, right, this is a restaurant review… The grilled cheese with basil and honey is amazing and the beer selection is pretty good. The bar space is a little cramped and bathroom could use more maintenance(toilet paper ALL over the floor and drinks left on the toilet — classy), but otherwise I’d probably go again.

I was in with a large party for a family gathering. After we left I returned in search of a baby item we had lost. The staff was kind, courteous, and compassionate about my loss, and although the item could not be located, their handling was appreciated.

Three stars for the friendly staff and great beer selection. Other than that, the food was slow to come out and everything my family and I ordered was nothing but a giant plate of cheese. My pasta dish was almost undistinguishable from the mountain of melted cheese on it, which made it inedible. It also came out 15 mins after the rest of my family’s food, so I think it most likely wasn’t made by whatever accident. I was supposed to have parmesan breaded chicken in the pasta and instead it was unseasoned and bland grilled chicken. Between that and the cheese on cheese on cheese I didn’t have much of the plate. Rest of my family ordered Chesapeake Chicken, and again, a giant slab of cheese. Maybe we should have stuck with burgers or something more bar centric, but probably won’t venture in again here unless for a beer or quick drink.

There are reasons to go to Timothy’s but the food is not one of them. If you want to sit out on the back patio and look at the White Clay and drink beer, it’s great. Just don’t expect any good food. Nachos were pretty lame –sweet chili and well, generally lame. Calimari was rubbery and boring. Soup was pretty bad. But the fries were respectable, so there. What absolutely kills me is this place gets four stars next to Iron Hill which has inventive, tasty, pleasing, and consistently well executed food. I blame Newark.
