After looking at reviews my GF and I decided to give this winery a shot — we aren’t from the area and had no idea what to expect. We were amazed by the beautiful view and excellent wine tasting they had. 5⁄5 would definitely come back here in the future!

The view here is amazing. Vineyards, past which is a vast expanse of the Willamette Valley. Beautiful picnic area, friendly staff, and good wine.

Everyone here was very friendly and knowledgeable. $ 15 for 5 flights + 2 extras that weren’t on the menu for Memorial Weekend. The view was great! They even had a fire wood place for this chili weather. I would recommend.

Great wine and a beautiful tasting room. Pick a warm day and enjoy a glass or bottle with friends on the patio or relax in one of the patio chairs There was a private event set up in the winery room that looked so fun!

We took a winery tour while we were in Oregon and Penner Ash was over the top. We would like to go back to Oregon and grab more wines from them.

Fun fact: during heavy rainfall, it’s often quite difficult to get to Penner-Ash. I’d recommend four wheel drive. Rumor has it that sometimes they even take people from the road to the front door by boat. I’d like to ride the wine-boat… ANYHOW. I really enjoyed my time at Penner-Ash. The tasting room is quite impressive both inside and out. The staff are fantastic at guiding you through tastings of their(relatively) wide variety of vintages, and if you buy yourself a bottle of something you enjoy, there are plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy both your wine and the sweeping views of the valley. It’s really a lovely and calming experience. Prices aren’t cheap, but they’re not as high as some of the other vineyards we visited. I’d be quite happy to return!

Beautiful winery with excellent views. Of all the wineries we went to this one was by far my favorite. I really like all the pinots but the viognier and rose were excellent as well. Definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful views with a really relaxed patio environment. Bring some food and hang out for the afternoon, the outdoor space is well worth the visit. Sarah enjoyed their wines and the prices were reasonable.

We had an amazing experience! Robert is an exceptional ambassador of Penner-Ash. Although they overbooked themselves, Robert and Melissa made sure to take care of us. Robert made us feel very welcome and was very attentive. He kept us completely engaged for the whole duration of our tasting. We will be sure to come back!

Top-notch. Great whites, great pinots. I love spending time on their patio in the summer, or warming up by the fire in the winter. i’d love to invest in a collection if I could afford it. For now, tastes and a bottle or two.

Penner Ash was recommended as a do not miss winery, so as we spent our first christmas in Oregon this past December, we made the trip up to this amazing, picturesque location. As luck would have it the sign read«closed until 2, company xmas party«so we decided to wait for an hour or so, and it was well worth the wait. We were greeted by Matt, who took us through a wonderful wine tasting experience. We spent about 90 minutes tasting delicious Oregon Pinot Noirs, and learning about Penner Ash. Thanks Matt for a great day of wine tasting!

Just opened my bottle of 2012 Rubeo. Wow really good. I’ve been holding on to it for 2 years. The blend of Pinot and Syrah is fabulous. Just recouping from rotator cuff surgery, this is great medicine. If Penner-ash reads this I’ll need a 6 month supply.

I have canceled my membership to Penner-Ash Wine club because I feel they are so retail oriented and their customer satisfaction concern is less than it could be. I was at the winery in May and joined the club because I like the product but, with a return visit last week, the experience was not the same. I still feel the product is good and some would say, if the wine is good, what is the difference. I am of the opinion that many places make good wine,(Cristom Vinyard — fantastic, Domain Drouhin — OMG), but the level of concern for the customer experience was so much higher that they simply eclipse a retail oriented establishment like Penner-Ash. I have no problem with making money but, if that is your only concern then maybe make widgets or bolts, not a customer centric product like wine. In the future I will expand my winery tours one at a time always hitting Cristom, always going to Drouhin, Rex Hill a must and then add one or two each visit. I think this area and the winemakers are making great strides but, for the money, my suggestion is do a little research and you will find far better and more wallet friendly wineries to deal with.

I love this vineyard. I visit this vineyard every time I go to Portland and usually buy a few bottles. Was just there last weekend and bought 5 bottles. Every red I’ve tried here is really good. Prices are not cheap but I think it’s well worth it. I opened one of the bottles and drank it outside. The view is incredible. They have a picnic area and you can bring food and enjoy the wine. We always bring cheese, meats and crackers. This vineyard has one of the nicest views. The wines are top notch. My favorite are the Shea and Pas De Nom.

A modern and beautiful space. The outdoor seating area is gorgeous. The tasting is a bit on the upscale and expensive side, but sharing amongst two people is worth it just for the view. I highly recommend coming here just to hang out because it is absolutely gorgeous. The wines themselves… I mean who am I to judge. They didn’t suit my palate, but they definitely worked for several patrons. They also have a full kitchen, and amazing space for weddings.

While I didn’t become a club member, Penner-Ash was a wonderful visit, the perfect balance of wine and beauty. Wine: 4.5 stars Location: 5 stars pours: 4 stars pourer 4 stars price: 4 stars P-S is the perfect winery for both wine lovers and the wine tourist. It has good wines and an exquisite view. Love their pinots. The pourer was nice and the pours average size. Definitely and must stop in the Valley.

We love to explore wineries and this place was recommended by our favorite winery-Cooper Mountain. The drive was gorgeous and the place is amazing! We loved the view, picnic area and the overall ambiance of the place which is why I gave it 4 stars. The tastings were okay but the guy helping us seemed distracted and didn’t seem to take us too seriously. Almost like he doubted we would buy anything since we had our daughter with us. We LOVED the viognier and one particular pinot noir! Don’t know if we’ll be back except maybe to pick up a bottle of the viognier…

The ever-present dilemma when reviewing a tasting room: Am I reviewing the facility, the wines themselves, or the tasting-room experience? I guess all three. Some places make it easy, others make it hard. For Penner Ash, I’ll just make it easy for you and separate them out. Facility: This is a totally gorgeous building and location. The structure is beautiful, with lots of warm wood and a great view overlooking the winery operations. Head out during crush and you’ll have a lot to look at while you’re there. Or simply hang on the patio and gaze out over the valley view. So pretty. Wines: The wines here are a little on the pricey side. While I did really enjoy the Shea(I like pretty much any Shea wine) everything else was merely okay. And so when you’re paying up to around $ 50/bottle, well, that’s a tad much. Tasting Room Experience: The folks here are nice enough. This seems like a fairly high-volume operation. We came on a local tour with 8 people, and there were at least 4 other tours there at the same time. It was kind of crowded. We got good service when our guide linked us in, but I could see that if I weren’t on a tour it might be a harder to get in. However every staffer I encountered was friendly and on top of things, which is so important in a wine industry that’s growing more«Napa» by the year. Kudos for that customer service. Penner-Ash should definitely be on a list for places to hit in the Valley. Short list? Medium list? You decide. The Shea is worth a visit by itself.
