Nice vineyard with fantastic owner in the tasting area. Interesting Rose, selection of cheeses and salami.

I am not a Chardonnay drinker… But this Chard was amazing! Wine was impressive and the bocce ball was a plus. We will be back :)

What Dan produces is great — if you can find it, buy it. Served the 2010 Piinot to guests a few weeks ago. They were impressed, really impressed; it tastes so much better than its price — and of course you can’t find it here(Illinois) — so join the club.

Great wines! Love love love their Viognier every time! I also like their reserve Pinots(duh). They are a great part of the Ribbon Ridge AVA loop and a place I will stop every time I am in the area. The patio is really lovely. Comfy wine barrel chairs, plentiful umbrellas, and two really well-made bocce courts. A beautiful view on the top of the hill to boot. His tasting room is small, but cozy. Dan and his family are awesome too. It’s a family-run vineyard, and they are happy to trade jokes, share their wine knowledge, and even to jump in for a bocce game. Considering becoming a member.

Utopia was the last stop on our 3 day Willamette Valley adventure and what a way to close out a fantastic trip. Dan’s knowledge and passion with his wine making came out in the splendid Pinot, Chardonnay and even the Grenach and Reislings we sampled. We had to buy some of the amazing Pinot’s and join the Utopian Tasting Society. We are already looking forward to our Nov shipment. A must visit when you are in the Valley.

Our first stop in the Willamette Valley was Utopia. We were absolutely blown away by the first wine we tasted — Viognier — who knew? And every wine after that was just really wonderful. You can tell that Dan puts so much thought into what he produces to just create the most balanced, approachable, enjoyable wine. There is absolutely no pretense here. We were also very pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced these wonderful wines were — being accustomed to the exhorbitant price of pinot noir at the store. I will add that Dan was extremely patient with the endless questions I asked about the wine making process.

Utopia is a wonderful boutique style winery in the heart of Dundee wine country! I visited here with a group of friends in August and it was an amazing stop! It has a charming new tasting room, and wines to match! Dan the owner and wine marker himself was behind the counter to give us the low down on all of his wines he was pouring! We had a lovely conversation about how he got into wine making and some of his new wine releases. For being such a small boutique winery and fairly new, he had a large array of wines including some great whites, Pinots, and a late harvest Viognier! Walked away with an amazing 2010 Pinot, late harvest Viognier and a Rose. Utopia gives you a great example of superior quality wines from the Willamette Valley. A must stop if you’re in the Ribbon Ridge AVA! Thanks again Dan!

Good wine. Warm reception. Vinyard on top of a hill. Spectacular views. Small, cozy tasting room. Beware: the man serving the wine will laugh at you for buying the riesling.

Fantastic place!!! The owner takes such pride in what he does and he has so much fun with the guests. He stays open until 6 because he doesn’t want to be just like all the rest. You feel like you’ve been invited to a small party when you go for a tasting. There are tables on the porch and bacci courts and he has events several times a year. If I lived closer, I’d be there. And the wine is amazing! They even have a great Chardonnay, which is my go to usually and the owner also loves Chardonnay. Even with all the choices in the Willamette valley, I would add this to my list of places to visit any time I go back to do more tastings.

Looks are deceiving with this place. It looks like you are going to someone’s house, but keep going and you will reach a small, but charming little tasting room. The wine is great and it’s so great to be able to talk to the winemaker himself and see the passion he has. For the quality of wine, the prices are decent. The pinot noir is to die for! Highly recommend this small, but delightful place!

Yes. This is what tasting in the Willamette Valley is all about. Roots style. There’s nothing fancy schmancy about this little tasting room. It’s small and humble. But the wines are well worth every sip. These folks are making some solid purp as well as some whites. And they’re selling them for pretty damn reasonable prices when you get right down to it. Make the drive up here and enjoy a flight served up by the winemaker’s family. Sit on the patio(on a nice day) and they’ll bring your tastes out to you. Start with the DNA white and the Pinot Noir Rose. Move on to a flight of their pinots… you’ll probably get to taste multiple vintages of the same winery block. I’ll be wiling to bet you’re impressed by one or the other. They even have a dessert wine. Know that your dollars are going to winemaking, not some crazy expensive château that’s designed to show off. This ain’t big-money Napa shit. Truth.

Authentic amazing wine and atmosphere, very cool to sit and chat wine and wine making with the owner/wine maker himself! Highly highly reccomend visiting this spot!

This is the kind of winery we search for. Leave your pretentiousness at the door. If you want some rude people pouring in a over done tasting room, then there are plenty to be found. If you want your tastings to be poured by the winemaker, then this is the kind of place for you. Excellent Pinot Noir, and a wine club membership that doesn’t try and saddle you with Rose, and Whites when you are looking for Pinot.

Utopia is a casual, informal tasting room where we were able to talk directly to the winemaker, an interesting guy who worked in Silicon Valley in a past life, and successfully left to pursue his real passion for winemaking. Now, he’s creating some very tasty wine, and as he pointed out to us, his 2008 Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge ended up on Portland Monthy’s, «50 Best Oregon Wines» list with a 95 rating. Not too shabby. What made this a good tasting experience was that unmistakably homey feel: mellow, friendly dogs walking the grounds, the winemaker hanging out in the tasting room talking about his work, the friendly banter and some enjoyable wines.

Tasting room not the greatest, but I am only rating the wines(that’s the important thing). Pinot Noir decent compared to other Pinots in the area but not very impressive e.g. not well balanced, not remarkable, nothing to write home about. However the Lecosse Malbec 1997 pretty darn good. 1997 Lecosse Cabernet Frank pretty darn good too. The latter have good nose, lots of layering, keeps your palate entertained. I would drink those again.
