Easily my favorite winery in the Willamette Valley. And one of my favorites in the US. I admit, I am a member of their wine club, but that’s only because of their excellent selection of high-quality Pinot Noir, and an amazing wide variety of Vino. Great friendly atmosphere, they are a Family owned business, Steve and Kelley are excellent hosts. Worth the trip for a tasting privately or for Thanksgiving or Memorial day open house!

We were taken here as part of a wine tour. The owner was amazingly generous with his time and information. The wines were great and very unique. Definitely worth a stop!

I was in portland over the weekend and we had already done some of the wineries that are located on the main strip so we decided to venture off the beaten path to visit some actually wineries instead of just the tasting rooms. And I am so glad we did. First let me talk about the drive. It was a beautiful sunny day and getting to Styring involves taking the road less traveled. Beautiful fields of green, rolling hills, and these wonderful little paths that make you feel like you are going on a mini adventure instead of just wine tasting. No fears about getting lost becsuse that is what GPS is for. There are some other wineries that you will drive past on your way here so you can very easily make an afternoon of it. Once we final did arrive we drove up the long driveway and we’re greater by the owners. I looked back and could see this beautiful view with the sun in the background. So quiet and peaceful out there. The owners are a married couple who are just as charming as can be. They took us inside so we could start tasting some of the wines. I can take you blow by blow through each of the wines but I prefer to give you the highlights. First I really like all of the wines. Secondly they treated us to kind of a tour of «this is how wine is made» showing off the equipment and all. While we tasted wine their daughter showed up and started playing music which help set thr tone as we sampled a combination o whites and reds. We ended the visit on the deck, talking about their plans for expansion and drinking a few glasses of wine while staring off into the green fields. Overall it was a great stop on our trip and I certainly encourage people to get off the main strip and explore this winery and the ones located in the hills around it.

I am writing this review upon my second visit to this wonderful Winery. The Styring Family is amazing and always welcoming. The wines blew my mind the first time and I left with Relentless as well as Shameless with matching Tshirt. When I walked in for the second visit wearing my Shameless Tshirt I got hugs and a gracious welcome. This winery is doing exciting things beyond just wine! Their son is working on a sustainability non-profit project and their beautiful daughter is working with her dad to create an exclusive Hazelnut Liqueur. I was privileged to get a good whiff of it and I hope to be one of the first to taste and purchase their new product! I am a huge fan of their magnificent wines. I must say that the review left by Dr. X only leaves me to believe X must have burned his pallet prior to tasting these seductive wines. «Shameless» is truly that! — it overwhelms, not just your taste buds but your core — and for a second you doubt the sanctity if allowing yourself to indulge in more, yet you will(and should) with abandon. While I am usually a Red Wine Goddess… We are approaching Summer and my entire mission for this trip was to collect delicious, refreshing Summer Whites. The Styring Riesling completely met my needs. The name«Whimsy» couldn’t be more perfect. Needless to say, this visit, I left with some whimsy shamelessness and a brand new«breathless» Tshirt. Glorious!

This is actually a 4 ½ star rating. Styring is a no-nonsense, no frills winery. We went out of our way to locate this little boutique winery after Mr B saw the wine featured on a wine list in a prestigious restaurant in Portland. This is a small operation, but ended up having some of the best wines we had the pleasure to taste, as compared to so many higher profile wineries both in the Columbia Gorge area and Willamette Valley. You must make reservations before coming out here, and it would be to your advantage to have your GPS going. Steve Styring guided us in by phone, and his sweet chocolate lab, Molly, greeted us after a circuitous trip through lush farm lands and vineyards, with winery signs on every corner, and dusty roads lined with blackberry bushes pregnant with sweet fruit(August is the month for that!). Steve is a corporate escapee who has very high standards and an excellent wine pallette. While he only produces only a small number of wines, and in small batches, he has already distinguished himself by receiving a double gold medal for one of his Pinot Noir. My Mr. B loaded up with Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, and the dessert Riesling, and could not stop saying how much he loved the Pinot Noir. That is noteable only because he had decided Pinot Noir was not a wine for him after trying so many. The Riesling was perfect for me, a light, sweet but non-syrupy wine perfect for after dinner. He also has a Port that is waiting to be bottled, «sometime between October and february» says he. Steve entertained us for well over an hour and had cheese salami and crackers set out«just in case we were hungry», a gesture that was greatly appreciated. Its too bad he can only produce small amounts, but we will continue to stay on his mailing list after finding him. This was one of the highlights of a long long trip.

I have to disagree with the previous review. The wines were some of the best I sampled out of 6 vineyards and the owners were great. While they do not have the lovely tasting room of a PennerAsh I actually enjoyed the no frills environment. Kelly Styring did a great job of matching food with the wines and Steve was very entertaining in telling us the history of the vineyard.

No tasting room so went out of my way full of hope and curiosity for this one time it’s open. Nice people, wine not so good, just high in acidity, no nose, no body just not worth writing home about. I would not want a bottle.
