We found the pizza to be tasty, the eggplant parmesan acceptable, and the service robotic but efficient. The prices were a bit on the steep side for Newburgh($ 2.95 for a soda, no refills). The restaurant has a good ambiance and the wood paneling is pretty nice too.

I hate to write this, but I have to. –Pros– Bread and Olive Oil dip, Good. Fresh warm bread, olive oil soaked in garlic, yum. Sword Fish Entrée Excellent. Wine sauce was VERY Good, swordfish and shrimp perfectly cooked. Nice décor Host was excellent –Cons– Waiter was rude and needs to be retrained. I have a hearing problem in my right ear, I thought he asked if I wanted the special, so I said«I didn’t know about the specials» he responds rudely«that’s because I haven’t read them to you yet.» I also saw him fooling around in the back a few times with his buddies. The Crab cake appetizer came out VERY burnt, they were replaced, but I do not know how the chef allowed the originals to be sent out. Also, they need more LUMP crab and less breading. Otherwise, the sauce and seasoning work very well. Increase the amount of Lump crab(by alot), decrease the breading and charge $ 2.50 more. People will pay if its good enough. My wife did not like the lasagna, I tried it and there was not enough ricotta and the beef was under-seasoned. The music didn’t make sense. It was a tad loud and did not fit the atmosphere. Play Sinatra, dean martin or Andrea Bocelli. It’s an Italian restaurant. I will be back to try the pizza, since they smelled good, but I rarely give two chances.

My family and I meet for dinner here and I have to say the food was ok. Pizza is good. BUTTHEWAITER was prob the worst EVER. Thank God for the busboy because he saved us. Only time the waiter really said anything was where we got there. He asked us what we wanted to drink, most got water and 1 glass of wine, then he disappeared, We ordered appetizers and they were good so I cant bash the food. Now its time to order so we got the waiters attention and he just stood there like a stone. After we order he never came back until the food was here. Never filled our water, didn’t ask us if we wanted more bread, nothing. We got the busboys attention and he got us everything and smiled. We all thought the waiter had something against us. VERYWEIRD. We all felt like he didn’t like us or he hated his job or something. Id have to say the busboy was our waiter so we gave him a tip. I should have read the reviews on here because there are many that say exactly the same about the waiter. You would think someone from this place would catch on to this. Its the waiter that is big & tall and lerch like. Sorry but I don’t think we will back here because of him and ONLY him. Like I said the food was good and the busboy was great. The Bread and dip is VERY Good. Like made fresh with pizza dough nice and hot too. ’

We had dinner here tonight and when we entered the building the staff looked like oh no more customers. The restaurant was not busy but a few tables were taken. It looks clear to me that the staff does not enjoy their job or else they just don’t like customers. We were seated and given menus but our waiter did not crack a smile. I ordered eggplant parm and when the meal was served I found it to be undercooked and it tasted freezer burned. The pasta was fine and the bread was good. When the waiter asked how the meal was I explained the problem and why I couldn’t eat it. He said I should have spoken up sooner. Needless to say I will never go back. Poor service and poor food

I went here in December for the first time with my wife on a Friday afternoon. It was just after lunch time I think around 2pm or so. I’ve been passing this place for years and she wanted pizza so I figured why not try it. Holy heck, this was the worst experience at any restaurant I have ever had. I was truly going to walk out. Storytime: Walk in, Pizza man says he’ll seat us, nobody in here at all. Dead silence, smelled like a sewer. Perhaps they had used some old dirty mop water somewhere or something but whatever the case it was noticeable. That didn’t throw us off too much because I know thing happen etc beyond their control. The pizza man came out from behind the counter to seat us and he looked flustered, friendly but flustered. The dining room was beautiful. Seriously pretty with beautiful art work, a gorgeous ceiling treatment and even a fire place. We were excited now and thought it was going to be great! I opened up my phone waiting for a waiter to arrive to read other Unilocal reviews and they were ok so we were still hoping. It was really dark in there even for the afternoon, I kept thinking someone would flip a light switch or something but no one ever did. About 8 minutes go by with nothing, no water, no server, nothing then a «waiter» saunters in(and I mean as casual as he could walk) and drops, literally drops 2 menus on the table in front of us as hes walking, spins around and leaves, not even a word. We look at each other in disbelief. A few moments later He arrives with a pitcher of refreshing room temperature water and two glasses. As hes pouring the water We were discussing between ourselves what we might order(a pizza) and without saying a word or even taking our order just assumes we wanted that. He leaves after grabbing the menus out of our hands. I said«excuse me?» and he just walked away. At this point I figured we should leave, but my wife is a sweetheart and wanted to let the food speak for itself. 20 minutes later the food came out. A pizza, on a serving platter, plates, silverware etc. The guy dropped it, honest to goodness dropped it on the table from about 6 inches up. Dropped the silverware rolls on the table and without setting up the places just left. The pizza was hanging off the edge of the platter. I felt like throwing it on the floor. I told my wife we are not tipping ATALL. I always tip even poor service but holy **** this guy was VERY clear that we were a bother to him. We a ate a couple slices, it was underdone and doughy. HUGE disappointment. 10 minutes later he shows up with the check and actually speaks to us. First time, now that money is involved he asks how everything was… Unbelievable. I left cash on the table, I went up to find the pizza guy because at least he seemed to be trying and I gave him a $ 5 tip and we left. First time and LAST time. I know people have off days etc but this was a miserable failure. The other reviewers on here must know the owners or something or be shills. Don’t waste your time here. If I could give 0 stars I would. No wonder the place was empty.

I have eaten here many times over the past 10 years. The food is good and the pizza is fantastic. The prices are a bit high and the service is lacking sometimes but overall it’s a good place to eat.

We get take away all the time. I love coming here. Even though we rarely go dine in, our waiter always remembers us. Most importantly though, the food!!! Excellent! We get the pizza to go, calzones are truly the best you will have in the area! Believe me, we’ve tried them all! Do yourself a favor, come here and enjoy! Excellent wine selection and reasonable prices

We often come here and every year the entire family has Christmas Eve dinner here. The service is always 5 star no matter the night of week. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants and I have been to a lot. Their bread is made with pizza dough and there olive oil spread to to die for. They always have great specials and the wine is fantastic. I have never had a bad experience and will continue to be a frequent customer. A true hidden gem in Newburgh that not on the overrated waterfront.

Today was the first time going here and will be my last time. We ordered 2 sandwiches for dinner and both were the worst tasting. The chicken on one of the sandwiches was so tough the knife would not cut thru it. Both sandwiches has the bread so wet and soggy it fell apart. The piece of veal on one of the sandwiches was so small it got lost in the bread. The service was so slow with only a few people in the room. We had a prepaid $ 20 certificate that we gave to the waiter as soon as we sat down. He handed us the menu and did not say that the certificate would not be honored for the food we ordered off of the menu he gave us. Manager was nasty and worthless in dealing with the issue. Save your money on this overpriced location. Don’t waste your time here just go to the diner next. Better Italian food than this Italian restaurant has. A lot cheaper and more friendly

Food was delish! I loved the salad… crispy, great dressing. I had the filet. It was tender and the Gorgonzola dressing was great. Crème brûlée for dessert didn’t disappoint either. The waiter was funny and attentive. The bus boy was at the table several times to fill water glasses, clean table and help out. I don’t think anyone at the table had a bad dish either. I will definitely go again!

We have been to this restaurant about 5 times over the past couple of years and food has always been excellent and so has the service. We had company this weekend who asked to go back, so we did. We had a party of seven, only two other small tables were when seated we got there, so wasn’t busy. We were seated right away and bus boy gave us water and bread right away. The server passed us several times w NO acknowledgement, ATALL. We finally went up & asked for menus. 15 mins later, we asked if we cld place a drink order… Waiter came over completely annoyed that we asked! Waiter rolled his eyes when my 9yr old took a minute to try to remember the name of his entrée. Waiter NEVER cracked a smile or even tried to be pleasant! The food was delicious, the busboy was amazingly attentive, refilling our water regularly(getting us a soda refill when we asked him bc I think our waiter forgot). Busboy brought us bread/oil refills 3 times. We left a 20% tip, just because…(I have been a waitress and maybe he was having a bad day). On our way out, we asked where the busboy was, so we could tip him(which clearly pissed off the waiter, once again). If this were the first time I went, I would NOT return… maybe, will give them another chance, after I get over being treated so poorly!

Hands down best Italian restaurant in the Area. I have only been here once but I plan on going back ASAP. Very large portions. It may not be the most inexpensive meal, but you pay for what you get. You will not leave hungry.

We stopped here off the highway for an early dinner. We ordered the spinach calzones and they were incredible! The crust was puffy golden brown, crispy on the outside and tender soft on the inside. The ricotta and mozzarella cheeses were creamy and rich with flavor. The red sauce served on the side was delicious. They were very large and filling. The service was attentive. The décor was cozy elegance. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I used to be a big fan of this restaurant, until tonight… It really only gets a 1 bc I did like it in the past, so they can’t lose full credit. My husband & I started coming here a few years ago and have prob been here about 5x. It’s got a cute atmosphere, amazing bread/dip, and great food. Great place for date night, unless you have poor service. We were sat immediately and waited a little longer than normal to be greeted by the server, but it’s Friday night so no biggie. Serves comes to take drink order and we get bread in the meantime. He comes back a few mins later to take our order– an appetizer &2 entrees off the specials list. A normal amount of time goes by(not paying attention), and our salads arrive… Usually the apps come first, but the server says it’ll be right out.(No prob at all.) I think he mentioned at least once or twice again that it was on its way after we had eaten our salads. Next thing I know, our entrees are coming out. So as they’re being placed, this is the conversation that occurs: Me(to server): «is the appetizer still coming out?» Server: «they didn’t bring it out?» Us: «no, we never got it… But we don’t need it now since the entrees are here anyway, if you could take it off the bill.» Server: «really? It never came out?» Us: «no, it never came out.» Server: «are you sure the mozzarella wasn’t right here?»(Pointing to the middle of our table… Where there was no room for one anyway, as our empty bread bowl And my salad plate still weren’t cleared.) Us: «no, it definitely wasn’t .» (Server walks away, clearly mad… At us??) The server walks away(idk if he said anything else, I was just too shocked to process. We both were left dumbfounded & said to each other«what just happened? Does he think we are lying? Why would we lie about getting an appetizer?». At this point I didn’t even want to eat anything else, I am as honest as they come, we’ve eaten here before(& have recommended this place to many local friends), and this is not, and has never been, our style. The server walks by a minute later and quickly mutters something about more drinks, but not directly to us, and doesn’t give us a chance to reply. He brings over another round of matching drinks(which we did not order– ours were maybe half empty at this point anyway), I say«thanks»(in an awkward/confused manner), he slams them on the table and walks away again.(Once again I stare at my husband, in shock, like«what is going on???», and at this point we just want to leave.) We each took maybe 5 bites of our meals but didn’t want to stay any longer. It was just too uncomfortable. We also made it a point to not touch our«free» drinks. We never asked for them, didn’t intend on staying longer, and frankly didn’t want them. It was not as if we were given a free round as a nice gesture. So we didn’t even touch them. We got our meals wrapped and when asked if we wanted a dessert menu we politely declined and asked for the check. When the server returned with the check, he had a $ 20 bill in the check and said we should put it towards the bill. My husband declined and politely argued that no, we do not take money from servers at a restaurant. The guy tried to force us to take it and walked away. When we looked at the bill, we saw we were being charged for the 2nd round of drinks, which we didn’t ask for, or drink. What?!(I felt offended, as though he was he trying to trick us.) the server came back again and we tried again saying no, we are not taking the money, but the $ 20 extra in drinks needs to be taken from our bill. He mentioned how he was the owner’s nephew, but again, not taking his money, please just fix our bill, which they did in the end. We normally tip 20% regardless, but it was such an uncomfortable and awkward experience that we gave lower. I was such a fan of this place beforehand, but tonight was a totally different experience. I’m as honest/innocent as they come, and I felt as though the server was accusing us of lying/cheating/stealing. It truly offended me and I so badly wanted to say to him & the owner again that we never got the appetizer; clearly some mixup happened, maybe someone else ate it, but it sure wasn’t us. But I am awful on the spot and don’t like drama, so we just left. We will not be back after tonight. On a side note, I was disappointed with my entrée too. It was a stuffed filet of sole, over risotto(I ordered it mostly bc of the risotto bc I’m a sucker for risotto). What came out was yellow rice with peas/carrots. It resembled and tasted like the uncle bens rice packet… Not risotto by any means. And definitely not worth $ 29.

I ate here with a group of friends on a Tuesday night. The dining area only had a few other patrons and it was a very quiet atmosphere. The service was top-notch, with the waiter and even the bus boy checking in frequently to see if everything was okay. The wait time for the food was very minimal and dinner was delicious. Even the bread they served was great.

This wonderful restaurant is our bi-weekly treat to ourselves. A great, calm, quiet atmosphere with nice music playing in the background. The food is absolutely fantastic, always fresh and tasty. I highly recommend the Zuppa Di Pesce and the Penne la vodka… you will thank us! Last but not least, the staff. The server is always kind a friendly with a good sense of humor. The owner is always on premises, and greets us when we arrive. Prices are comparative to similar menus else where… but YOUWILL get what you pay for here!

It’s probably been a decade since I’ve been back here and the new management has completely changed things around. You wouldn’t really recognize it if you haven’t been back in a long time the place has a really great old world atmosphere. I stopped in there for a quick lunch and ended up staying there for about an hour. The food and the service was excellent stayed and chatted with Martino for about 45 minutes and it was one of the more enjoyable experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. The margarita pizza was probably one of the best in Newburgh thanks to the brick oven treatment. Also had pasta carbonara which was massive half a portion would be perfect. It was cooked to perfection the prosciutto and bacon were crispy and was a nice contrast to the pasta. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the meal. This is one of the most visit places in Newburgh.
