I am a visitor to Newburgh and was treated to a night out to Chophouse by my inlaws. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The waiter was nice and helpful with any questions we had. We tried the stuffed mushrooms, ahi, and scallops for appetizers. I ended up with Lilian’s filet for dinner. I felt the pricing was appropriate the food was pretty good for Newburgh. What was a little off putting was one of the other servers scolding the hostess angrily. I understand he was frustrated, but it made me a little uncomfortable. Also, I ordered my steak medium and it came out pretty rare. I didn’t send it back, but I was a little disappointed it was as rare as it was. The corn casserole is outstanding! The salads served with entrees are«eh». The banana fosters is pretty good. They serve a puff pastry square with it and that was an interesting addition. It is definitely enough to share. Overall, I would return. There aren’t a lot of choices in Newburgh, so this place would make our list when I visit.

Prices greater than what you find in any major city for food/drink quality you can find at a chain restaurant. Although somewhat friendly service, you’ve got to be kidding me when it comes to the«experience.»

Amazing meal and exceptional service. The owner was advised by our waiter that I am a vegetarian. I did not expect nor request anything special but the owner approached me and gave me a few ideas of what he could create. To say the least, it was one of the best meals I have consumed in a long time. He prepared a pasta with peppers and garlic. It was seasoned well and had a nice kick to it. The polenta is fantastic. The wine list is top notch. My dining companion had the pork chop and corn casserole and raved about his meal. No room for dessert! We will definitely return!

Awful, tough steak and 69 bucks. I’ve had much better at Logan’s. Its no wonder the place was only 20% filled on a Saturday night. Will never be back.

Great evening!!! Ran across this restaurant and thought we would give it a try. Had appetizer of Grits with Bourbon glazed bacon. Amazing!!! Shared a Wagyu bone in New York Strip steak with corn casserole and mash potatoes. Loved it!!! Best part was a very informed waiter who took care of us with perfect recommendations… Excellent job Nick!!!

Super overpriced. Food was nothing special. We wished we had spent the money at bonefish grill instead! This was more $. Salad was lettuce and cheese only! Meal was something I could have cooked at home. Don’t waste your money here.

I’ve never left a review less than 5. I called last night to make a reservation for four at 7. 630 tonight I call and ask if they can do anything for my boyfriends birthday. They told me they had me down for 6 but they do serve a free slice of cake they would surprise him with. We arrive at 7 and our waiter was not friendly. He didn’t tell us his name and wasn’t very helpful when I asked about the drinks they serve. I gave them 2 stars because my salmon was really good and everyone enjoyed their dinners. Side salad was okay. And to my disappointment and my boyfriends. No one brought cake!

Unorganized mess. Owner needs to learn how to run a business and make sure there’s enough food in the kitchen to serve people. My extremely faded and used napkin had a fork wrapped in it, no knife to cut my steak. The food I did receive was cooked well, but way over priced. The staff were nice enough, but clueless. No second time around for us. Once was enough.

My husband and I our so happy for another great restaurant in Newburgh. I had the Tequila Lime Chicken with a creamy rice that was excellent. My husband had the crab cakes, that was accompanied with a similar rice. I chose the grilled asparagus as a side, which is very similar to the way I do mine… one word, delish. My husband had the mixed vegetables, which he said were very good. They have a very good wine list, which is a major plus on my list. Also, a good selection of beers, for which my husband appreciated. Per the owner, they are suppose to have the most extensive bourbon list in our area. Not much on bourbon, but a lot of people are these days. Our server was Valerie, and she was excellent and knowledgable. What I liked: owner is passionate about having good food, plus atmosphere. What I didn’t like: very little.

I was really hoping this was going to be a fantastic restaurant. Unfortunately the mixed reviews are here for a reason. Staff is equivalent to Logan’s/Texas roadhouse, very nice, but not as educated as the plate cost should reflect. The«surf and turf» for $ 51.00 consisted of a mediocre lettuce and cheese salad with a few croutons, seriously over oily house dressing(others didn’t recommend, thought they just didn’t know a good dressing) and a tough cut strip. Now the strip was cooked perfectly to the chefs defense, but the type of cut was equivalent to one you would buy at Schnucks. Also, 1 scallop, and two shrimp make it a «Surf and turf». See pics posted shortly for yourself. For that price, Ruth’s Chris will provide a melt in your mouth steak that will leave you smiling. Again, nice people, chef cooked steak correctly, just quality of food didn’t match price at all. Out of the $ 170 tab for two meals, our best part was finishing the one bottle of wine($ 30) to supplement the two bites of steak for my dinner. Gave rest to dog.

I wanted this restaurant to be great! Sadly, it wasn’t. Our server was glacially slow. The salads are quite skimpy; lettuce, cheese, two croutons, and an oily house dressing. My husband liked his steak well enough, but I ordered the«fall-off-the-bone-tender» short ribs. I couldn’t saw through them with a table knife. The sauce tasted like it had gone bad. Note: check your bill. They charged my husband $ 43 for his steak. He ordered the $ 18 steak. They did correct it. It’s too bad we did not enjoy our experience. We live very close and hoped this could be a regular thing. Not going to happen as we won’t be back.

The steak and pork chop are amazing! The chop House mash was great. I have dined at halls chop house and grill 225 in Charleston and this place is on the same level. The owner nick is great guy and one hell of a Chef, I have really enjoyed his creations over the years.

Gave this one last try tonight. Option of sitting in the table next to the kitchen we opted for a high top in the bar. Next was the challenge to have someone come to table. Finally someone said ok I’ll take your table. We were brought water and menus. 15 minutes later with none of the promised bread. No drink orders no appetizers all because of sitting there with no service we left. Nick knows how to cook but this isn’t the place to do it in. 3rd try. We won’t be back

I’m on the fence on whether to like the place or not. I think they were a bit pricey for being in a strip mall. The hostess was the best… she opened the door for us when we arrived and depated, made me feel pretty special! Steak and cauliflower were scrumptious as well as the pasta Diablo. The salads were made from white lettuce.. not a bit of green in the bowl. Our server never told us about the specials and never offered us the dessert menu!

We are visiting from out of town. We wanted to take our hosts to a steak dinner at a local restaurant. The Chophouse website looked promising. However, what we encountered did not live up to our expectations. The hostess, who we later learned was the owners wife, was rude and treated us as if we were bothering her with our presence. The bartender, when asked for a wine list, told us we could find one on our table, which wasn’t the case. The waitress was more interested in gossiping about the older couple who told her about their personal life than serving us. The appetizer was very good but thats where the positive experience ended. The steaks were mediocre and very overpriced. $ 49 for a 14oz. steak is ridiculous. The only difference between the 8 oz was the bone… so we paid extra for them NOT to take the bone off. Makes no sense. The shrimp was chewy, the rice was mushy. My salad was warm and limp. The cheese was sticky and gross. The waitress blamed it on the plate not being chilled. Over all one of the worst dinners I’ve ever had and one of the most expensive. I don’t live in Newburgh so I don’t have the option of returning, but if I did I would not and I’d be sure to tell others not to waste their time or money. I love supporting locally owned businesses. But in this case you’d be better off going to one of the chain restaurants like Outback.

Tried NW Chophouse for the first time. Food was okay, I was expecting a lot better meal based on the menu prices. Once again atmosphere did not meet expectations based on menu prices. Salads were iceberg lettuce, not romaine as listed on the menu. Waiter was much more absorbed with a nearby table that ordered an expensive bottle of wine. I’ve been to nice restaurants, NW was a pretentious hole-in-the-wall joint that looked like it kept the furniture and table linens from when the place was a Chinese joint. Can’t say it enough… overpriced for what your getting.

Steaks were very good. Service(Nick) was excellent. My wife ordered the special medium and it came to the table medium-well but Nick immediately took it back & had another one cooked which was just right. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the Bananas Foster were very good although not prepared at our table. I would go there again.

Mixed review. The first time we went right after they opened, I’d have to say it wasn’t very good. Lots of kinks to get worked out like serving frozen salads. The crab cakes were soft and mushy and I ordered a 12 oz bone in ribeye, which ended up being a paper thin breakfast steak you would get at waffle house at 3 in the morning. It did have good flavor, but not what i was expecting from a steak house! The 2nd trip was better, but still not that great. I got the filet this time, good cut of meat and cooked good, just not much flavor.(I noticed they were still serving the paper thin bone in ribeye) Wife got the lime chicken and she said the same thing, it was okay, Now, the margarita was amazing, however, $ 9.00 for a margarita, ouch. I can go down the road to any of the Mexican restaurants and get a .99 cent margarita on most nights. Only time i pay that much for a drink is if i get a jumbo margarita or in a resort area! FYI, they didn’t have any drink menus, so we had no idea that cost that much.

We had a great meal at Chophouse this evening. Service was quick and attentive, there was a nice variety of specials and menu items, and the food was incredible. We had stuffed mushrooms, and then I ordered the pear arugula salad, the bone-in filet and polenta. The steak was so flavorful and so tender – I don’t think I’ve eaten a better steak in southern Indiana – ever. I’m also a huge fan of the salad I chose. My dining companions had great gin/tonics from the bar, delicious house salads, and fresh tasty seafood – sometimes a hard feat to accomplish in this part of the world. I can’t speak highly enough about this place – and look forward to returning soon!
