we have been customers for many years… the owners are very sweet and delight in good service… maybe be a little slow when crowded but worth the wait… food is delicious… their«three taste» is so good… they don’t skimp on food either… we always take home something… in fact i’m going for an early dinner tonight… oh yum!

Small family business that treat customers right. Serving sizes are generous. Food is very tasty.

I was born and raised in NP, and Hunan Yuan is one of my go to restaurants for Chinese food. This place is family owned and operated. They have a very nice ambience in the restaurant itself. They offer tea and won tons to snack on while you look at the menu. They have the best dishes, honestly too many to name. But I have to stay, when I don’t feel well(flu) I crave their chicken fried rice. There is a reason this place has been at it’s location for over 20+ years. Their staff is attentive, friendly, and accommodating. They also handle to go meals well, just as if you were dining in. If you are in the area, for sure stop in. If you are at a hotel locally, or even at home, they deliver as well. Enjoy some traditional Chinese food at really great prices.

Horrible service. This is our first visit here for Father’s Day there were three couples in the restaurant and it was wo minutes before anybody came out from the back to Seat us. Then when they finally sat us down my wife had too be her bench As the seat was dirty and out of place. The lady did not come back with the high chair and we left after 5 minutes. POORSERVICE.

Great food! Always very friendly and they go out of their way for you. Sweet & sour pork, pork fried rice, and house special eggplant are among my favorites.

At first I walked in at 11:30 on a weekday and I was the only one here. No worries, and not a creepy vibe either. Yes this place has been around forever and you can tell by the décor. But I have to hand it to them. They do take pride in the place and it’s super clean. No dust, no ripped chairs, and no stained ceiling tiles. The good was good too! I had the almond chicken lunch special. I typically have a rusty lettuce test and they passed with flying colors. Nothing was too greasy or saucy — just perfect. To top it off, under 8 out the door for lunch. If you want Chinese and are in the area, this is a must!

LOVE the meat with rice stick noodles. TOTALLY worth the $ 9.00(not lunch special) because they give so much!

We have been coming here for over 15 years and I can’t believe I have never Unilocaled them. The food is excellent and consist ably delicious. Same owners and they take pride in the food and service. Just about everything tastes great. Also they have great prices on beer. Domestic at $ 2.35 and imports at $ 3.15 per bottle.

I love this place! I work near by twice a week and you can find me around lunch time here twice a week ;) they’re lunch specials are great cause you get so so so much food for little money. They bring you water, tea, soup and sometimes chips for free! the lady that serves you is super cute and nice and i think she owns the place? i would suggest this place just be aware that all your cloths and hair smell when you leave so keep that in mind

They first gave me a soup spoon with someone else’s lipstick on it, they replaced the spoon and soup but then the new soup came with a fly in it and when my husband checked his soup, his had a small fly in it too. We told them, they apologized but we still canceled our order and walked away…

My family and I have been coming here for years, and we love this place! The food is always served promptly, and the taste is great! I would definitely recommend the War Wanton Soup, the House Special Noodles, and the Walnut Shrimp, among others. Prices are reasonable as well. The ambience is peaceful, and the staff is always very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to others!

As California Chinese food goes it’s a solid 3.5+ which is why I gave it 4 stars. Not the best Chinese the Conejo has to offer but nowhere near the bottom either. They do everything low oil upon request and offer a pork free Hot and Sour soup. Their Mongolian Beef is a little scallion heavy, but their Kung Pao is tasty. Mushu chicken and Hot Braised Shrimp are also solid. Like most restaurants of this type, it is family run and the family is friendly and try to please. Since I usually go for take out I don’t have a strong opinion about in house service, although they’ve been here since 1988 so you know it has to have merit. Also, I tend to eat here it seems when it’s a holiday because unlike many restaurants, they are open practically everyday. I need my Chinese Xmas eve dinner and Hunan Yuan is open for business.

Great food, quick take out. LOTS of choices and can personalize to your spice level because everything is made to order. This is how I remember Chinese Food growing up, not the Panda Express of today.

Service Good most of the time, Food is the best in this area. We change our meals some, because we like to taste all the dinners. Our other favorite in the area is Mandarin Bistro, the service there is excellent but their food not quite as spicy, but we enjoy both equally. We have tried all of the others but we have found these two are our favorites

2.8 To my surprise, actually not completely Americanized(though there is enough of its influence) dinner had here. Quiet… located within a strip mall.

Not as good as Sesame Inn but I gave an extra star for being open Christmas night for dinner. On that particular night I had the chef special mussels in black bean sauce and a Tsingtao. Lots of mussels and quite tasty. The veggies left something to be desired as they were overdone and limp but still a nice meal on a night where finding an open restaurant in Newbury Park can be difficult.

It’s ok– I like there Mongolian beef but not as good as it use to be. Environment was uncomfortable the night we went, too quiet and service awkward. Price was alright

Very fast, efficient service. But the kung pao chicken was mediocre — plenty of chicken, but as far as vegetables, just a couple of withered scallions. And since the décor looked like it came from the Miami Vice«Softer Side of Don Johnson» collection(think very pale teals and pinks, circa 1984), the place has very little to recommend it. Unless all you’re looking for is edible food served very quickly and efficiently — then you might love the place.
