ignore these 1 star reviews below. They do not know what they are talking about. I have been going here ever since I moved 4 years ago. It is THE BEST Chinese food you will ever eat. The owner is usually very busy and running around so that is why the people below may have thought she was rude. Also with the Asian culture they act and understand things differently. So please take my word and GO EAT HERE. The lunch special is usually 7 or 8 dollars and it is A TON OF FOOD! It can usually feed 2 people. lunch hour ends at 3 pm. Do yourself a favor and stop by and get the house chow mien It is FANOMINAL

heavy set lady gives the worst service ever on top of that she tries overcharging us for food we did not order she gave us the wrong food we said what we wanted loud and clear a simple order we went all the way home and had to come back to get the right food. never coming back this place sucks paid $ 27 for crappy service

We LOVE Red Wok! It is our all time favorite Chinese place. We always get the orange chicken and they always honor our request for white meat only in it.

Good local place when I am in the mood for Kung Pow take-​out. Pleasant hard working staff and reasonable pricing.

The four stars is for the generous portions and good pricing. The food is good with some items better than others. The black and pepper beef and house special soup were among my favorites. Not the most authentic Chinese food I’ve eaten by far but good nonetheless. I always walk out full both belly and wallet so I’m happy eating here. The service was ok. I understand the lady working here may not give the best service and doesn’t «smile» as some customers are accustomed to. As long as she brings my food out promptly and responds when we called I have no problem in this department. I recommend this place but don’t expect five star service and you’re ok.

The worse first time experience you could imagine. The female who gave me my order was completely rude. She was incompetent and counted my money I kid you not… five times. She Did not «thank me», and I literally had to ask her for my returning change. They should hire someone who is friendly and able to deal with the guests. Then, after all that… the food was cold. I will not ever be returning to this establishment. She is probably the reason they are never busy. Steer away… there are too many good Chinese food restaurants in Newbury Park. You can’t do wrong with Sesame Inn and Mandarin Bistro. Plz give them a try if you are looking for quality.

The two female employees here are the rudest people on earth and to think they are in the service related business. Very unwelcoming.

One of our favorite date night dinner places! The sweet and sour shrimp is the best I’ve ever had (lightly breaded/​not heavy) and the fish in black bean sauce is absolutely the best! The food comes out quickly and the restaurant is clean and quiet. Their hot and sour soup is very good as well. They do take out too and we have occasionally picked up food for the whole family.

It was a cold evening and I wanted war wonton soup. We ended up here by accident. A little reluctant to enter as no one else was inside. But I wanted soup. We are greeted and ask to sit anywhere we’d like.
We ordered the war wonton soup and house special noodles. We shared each dish and it was plenty for two. The food was pretty good. The soup had lots of vegetables and meats. The noodles were soft and again lots of meat. The best part were the prices very reasonable. Our bill was $ 18.
I can’t wait to try other items on the menu. I’m glad to have found another restaurant in the area with delicious war wonton soup. Oh and a few more people did come in during our dining experience here.

I usually come here during lunch time and there are always at least a few available. There is a big lot for parking. I normally get their lunch specials that range from $ 6 – 8. Lunch special comes your choice of meat, rice, soup, and egg roll. The food is a good value and consistent.

Service was bad, lady that rang me out did not seem happy to be doing so. Ordered chicken fried rice and the chicken was super chewy. Ended up picking it all out. Will not be returning.

I always order shrimp in lobster sauce to-​go. This time I was given shrimp with broccoli. When I called them about the mistake I was told, by someone other than the person who took my order, «no you ordered shrimp with broccoli». When I insisted «no I didn’t. I would never order that.» I was again told that I was wrong, then the person on the phone spoke in another language to someone else and then told me «even the lady that took your order said that’s what you ordered.» I said «so you’re right and I’m wrong and that’s it? I guess I’ll just never go back then.» Her reply, «ok!» For average food I’ll gladly skip going there again. What ever happened to «the customer is always right.»? Especially when it’s a regular customer that orders the exact same thing every time! It’s not too much to ask for a correction or at least an apology. There are way too many other places I can go where they’re nice, have better food and will appreciate my patronage. Bye bye Red Wok and your poor service and bad attitudes.

I really thought I had found a good, reliable, local restaurant. I have ordered pick up many times & yesterday, my order was awful! All of it! Even the rice was stale! The vegetables were brown on the edges, the noodles tasted like they had been sitting a very long time. It was to late to return yesterday, they were closed. I didn’t call because I wanted to honor them. I brought it back today & they refused to make it right. I wanted a fresh order of the same food. They refused. I really didn’t want a refund, Good thing since they wouldn’t offer! They have dishonored THEMSELVES & Me!
I won’t be back & I’ll tell everyone I can not to come here. Lost my time, money, and my dinner. And they were RUDE!

Ordered takeout last night. We hadn’t ordered from them in a while but was in the mood. We were all disappointed! The Orange Chicken was tasteless and dried up crunchy bites, the Beef with Broccoli was also bland and chewy. The egg rolls were okay, but definitely not what we are use to. The only thing we enjoyed was the Wor Won Ton soup. I rarely toss food, but we tossed this food. Been ordering there for years, wondering if they changed owners. Either way, it was a waste of $ 45 and after 15 years, we won’t be going back.

We order take out from Red Wok and really like the food. It is flavorful and the portions are quite large. Additionally, and it appears some reviewers miss this, you can customize your food. This even includes the lunch where I get an extra scoop of fried rice instead of the salad at no extra cost. The folks working there are very nice and it is by far the best Chinese food in Newbury Park/​TO area. They recently have started to serve Phở and it is also really good. I highly recommend.

We eat here often. Their food is good… and the workers are pleasant. They give you very large portions! Yesterday, however… they made a few mistakes on our order. They only gave us 4 egg rolls when we asked for 10… and they didnt give us our 2 servings of orange chicken at all. Good thing, they only charged us for what we had… so… all wasnt lost… and the food was still quite delicious! I would recommend eating here… just make sure that the order is right before leaving.

I ordered 4 different meat entrees and got one small box of white rice with it. Also the food was very interesting to say the least. Not likely going to eat here again.

They were extremely busy, which is a good thing I guess. It appears the locals call in orders and just pick up, their phone was going crazy and many people came in to pick up food. We waited a bit to sit and have order taken (no problem). We got the pork chow mein, string bean chicken, Mongolian beef, fried cheese wontons, wonton soup.
The food was good except the fried wontons had yellow cheese and the Mongolian beef tasted different. It’s obvious they have many followers. We will prob be back and try other dishes that everyone raved about.

Price: $ 8.10 lunch special fish with black bean sauce and comes with a scoop of fried rice, eggroll, lettuce with salad dressing, egg drop soup, and fortune cookie.
«The Good»: Called for pick up and my food was already ready when I got there, I was in and out in a few minutes. A lot of food for the amount you pay, but unfortunately half of the food is not even good! The fish fillet with black bean sauce has a good flavor.
«The Bad»: The egg roll leaves a nasty grease film on your fingers as you eat it and for some reason when I took my first bite all the filling came out.
«The Ugly»: The salad is basically lettuce chopped up with some creamy dressing it looks like it’s just there to take up space in the food container. The fried rice is just rice with soy sauce.
This was my first time eating their food and will be my last. It’s just not worth it when there are better lunch options in the area.

I moved here recently and was thrilled to have a Chinese take out place nearby. I ordered for pick up here twice and thought nothing of it, normal Chinese fare, nothing extraordinary. Friendly folks. The MaPo Tofu was very good.
The third time I came in to pick up food, I saw a few roaches on the wall behind the counter crawling behind some paintings. I did not eat the food I picked up and will not go back there again.
