Fairly simple concept. Make some rice. Flame broil the chicken or steak and put it in a bowl. Which is why I can’t understand how they could over cook chicken thigh meat. If you cook(or eat) you know what I’m talking about. This must be last nights chicken re heated. They certainly are anything but cook to order. Very dry and unimpressive. There is a chicken bowl restaurant in simi Valley that has been there for 20 years called rice bowl(I think) that kicks this places a##. Really no reason to come here. You’re near Ranch hand go there or habit skip this joint.

Fast, healthy meal! The sauces are so yummy and the place is always clean! They do seem to get busy during lunch, but most times when I’ve gone in there it’s pretty desolate. So glad to have this option in Newbury.

Adequate, but too simple a menu. Lots of good chicken on rice. And more chicken on rice. I guess if you know that you want a basic chicken or beef on rice dish, this makes ordering easy. But it’s not that tasty either.

My husband loves to eat here. If we are out and about and anywhere near a Flame Broiler, he will find one. Our orders were always perfect — bowl with chicken, brown rice, mixed veggies. Is it just us, or now is it more like– bowl of rice and cabbage, sprinkle of everything else? The price is right but I’ve recently eaten at several locations from Newbury Park, City Walk, and Santa Fe Springs… all the same. Rice and cabbage. No doubt those are the two most inexpensive ingredients but unless the cooks have been directed to do this, they need to pay closer attention. After dining at the various locations, same outcome at each, we have decided to move on from this business.(Same issue with the plates)

I just ordered the half n half regular bowl and it came out worse than small bowl. 2⁄3 of bowl was filled with rice and there was not much meat at all. I had to ask put more meat and the staff wasn’t very polite about that. And bowl came out almost the same as before. Don’t ever order the regular bowl. I also ordered the chicken side and they barely filled that tiny bowl. So terrible!!!

This is exactly what I wanted after a 10 mile hike. Beef & veggie bowl was outstanding. Tunes are perfect & thank you Megan for setting me up with a stamp card. I’ll definitely be back.

Fresh Fast good pricing. Sometimes the staff are doughnut heads. But otherwise it was a good lunch.

Did flame broiler miss that lesson that people eat with their eyes first? And that the same amount of food can look like more if you put it in a smaller Bowl? Because it seems that this location got bigger bowls and they only filled it up halfway. Super disappointing

Great spot — solid 4 stars if your looking for a fast healthy meal. I usually get the half/half chicken/steak bowl and add green onion and some of their«magic sauce». The portion size is good– not too big not too small. The total cost without a drink(I get the water) is under $ 8.00 all in. Give it a try next time your close and not wanting a burger and fries.

I like flame broiler, this one is located in a very good area. However the portions are a bit on the light side. Also they have a paper menu that quotes lower pricing than the board. But don’t worry that will charge you what the board says. Update prices please!

I could seriously eat at flame broiler several times a week! My husband, kids and I have had: the chicken bowl, the steak bowl, the works, half & half, just white meat and white and /or brown rice. It’s so good! So fresh with a great grill flavor. The veggies are great. The staff has always been great when we’ve gone in to eat. Good environment. They all appear to be having fun. working hard, working fast and working well together and most with a smile. Anthony is one employee we see often when we go there and he is very pleasant, helpful and respectful to the customers. My mouth is watering just writing this!!! Love it!

So excited to get a Flamebroiler in Newbury Park and when they first opened the food was great. Like the pictures showing mountains of food Now they give you a «Works» bowl with less than half filled with rice, maybe three tablespoons chicken, two tablespoons meat and a spoonful of veggies. I spent $ 10 for this and a drink. So sad.

I have only been to Flame Broiler twice. Their food is alright when you douse it their sauce, but nothing special. I felt like when I went they gave me a big bowl with a lot a steamed rice and almost no chicken. The staff was nice and the establishment was very clean. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back here any time soon.

I had been wanting to try Flame Broiler for awhile, because it looked like the kind of casual dining place we like; healthy and inexpensive. It didn’t disappoint. Hubby and I both ordered The Works — his was a plate, mine was a bowl with white meat chicken, both with brown rice. It was very tasty, even if the chicken and meat were a tad on the dry side. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but it’s worth the wait to have a freshly made dinner. Customer service was very good and the employees were friendly. The restaurant was very clean; loud classic rock music from a Verizon FIOS channel was playing from the flat screen TV on the wall, but that was fine because I like loud classic rock. I would definitely eat at Flame Broiler again!

Pros: the food taste and quality is always really good. The place is clean and neat. Staff is friendly. Cons: ever since they got the new bowls the portions are very skimpy. I thought maybe the first few times were a one off but other locations are far more generous. For 9 bucks I better get a full scoop of rice and more than 6 chicken chunks!

The good: Healthy and good rice bowls. Our family comes here at least once a week. We normally order the ck w veggies. You can choose white meat or dark meat(I prefer dark). White rice or brown(I order brown) The bad: unfortunately one of my kids hates rice but that’s not the restaurants fault :) The tip: for kids and diet folks, you can order small rice bowls

I found this place on Unilocal. It was a Friday evening and I was hungry. I didn’t want fast food and I didn’t want a full service sit down restaurant. So I chose this place. I am so glad I did. This is just what I needed. Not too much food and a healthy meal. First off, as I walk in the place is not busy. A few people were waiting for their order. I order and a few people follow behind me. The place is nice and clean, great for dining in if you choose. I explained to the employee at the counter I was a first timer and she explained the menu. Answered a few questions and I was set to order. I ordered three of the Works bowl, $ 6.90 each. The bowl includes chicken and beef, and all bowls include your choice of white or brown rice and steamed veggies. The employee explained that its optional to get half serving of rice and extra veggies for those watching their carb intake. I got home with my food and my food was still hot. I brought home one each of their sauces. The teriyaki and green sauce were my favorite. Beware of the green sauce it will flame you up. Dinner for 3 was a total of $ 22.26. One of my sons loved it and told me right away and wondered where this was from. I may be stopping here more often on my way home from work. My second son had it the following day and it was just as good heated as he enjoyed it tool The chicken and beef are tender and flavorful. The chicken is served with a light sauce but the beef is not. Veggie bowls, mini bowls and plates available also. Phone oder ready in 15 minutes and park in the curb side parking spot to pick up your order. I’m a fan!

I want to give this place a 5 star but I rate on overall experience and the employee morale could definitely use some improvement. I understand that high school and college kids aren’t looking long term at this job, but blasting Guns N Roses in a family place that is promoting a healthy lifestyle. Don’t get my wrong I love that kind of music when I’m out on a karaōke night, but with my kids at lunch… Anyway let’s get to the important part, the food. I like that it the meat is cooked in a very healthy way and yet still tasty. I usually get the beef, brown rice and veggies. I love the way they taste so good together and that the nutritional guide is a big poster right there on the wall. The only thing I’d like to know see on there is the calories in the«magic sauce». All in all the food is great for the price.
