Will never return because of the rude and unfriendly customer service. They would rather talk than acknowledge your here to order. Being my first time in a d’angelo’s, I placed my order and paid. Then I asked if there are other toppings put on the sandwich. The answers was no and it bothered them to add lettuce etc… Then I was told I should have said something when I ordered. Yes my sandwich was good but not good enough for rude service.

I’ve been here many times since it’s conveniently located, sometimes just to grab a quick sandwich or salad, other times to get food for a gathering(multiple sandwiches) Usually I call in the order, and then go to pick it up. The food is OK, what you’d expect at any d’Angelos place. But the service/attention to detail is not very good. The staff seems easily flustered, not very focused on what they’re doing. For example: If I call in, and give them 15 – 20 minutes before going to pick up(based on their estimates), often they haven’t even started my order when I get there… claiming«oh we just had a big order» or «oh we’re really busy» when they have just 1 – 2 orders in process. Or they seem confused about where the food is, where the ticket is, what register to ring it at… To make things worse, they almost always get the orders wrong: ask for a #9 with no mushrooms? You get a #9 with no peppers or onions, but with extra mushrooms. Ask for a sandwich with everything, they say«including hots», say«yes» — get a sandwich with no hots. Order 4 sandwiches, and they forget one. You get the idea… usually they get the basic sandwich right, but the toppings are really hit or miss — I don’t know whether it’s the person taking the order who doesn’t write it down, or the person making the sandwiches who doesn’t pay attention… either way it’s annoying. For a while I would just ask for some things on the side(hots, mayo, cranberry sauce… or whatever else would really make the sandwich) because at least then I could quickly double check whether or not they were in the bag without having to unwrap the sandwiches. But they forgot what I’d asked for so many times, now I’ve just given up and won’t go there unless one of my friends insists. There are better sandwich shops in town.

So it says I haven’t been here since 2009? Well I gotta fix that. Several times since… and I promise to do a better job of checking in. This trip, had the roast beef sub with pepper jack cheese. How cool is it now that D’Angelo’s is offering new things like pepper jack? Very cool! My friend had the tuna sub with provolone. Excellent. Upped to 5 stars because of my multiple trips. I must like this place even though I live 2000 mi away. Parking continues to be a hit/miss option. Keep driving around, there will be a spot opening soon.

One of our favorite fast food sandwich places, the only thing I’m not a fan of is their Broccoli Soup. You should know that it’s rare for me to say anything negative about any broccoli soup — it’s hands down my favorite food on Earth. But I would sooner heat up some Cambell’s. That said, the rest of everything is simply great. The bread and rolls they use are über-fresh. I love their wraps. And I especially love how flexible they are about what they will put in it for you(extra cucumber instead of lettuce, etc.) We get take-out here a lot but it’s also a great place to sit and relax with a sandwich and soup while you’re shopping. It can get a little noisy at times when you expect it would be busy, but for the most part, the ambiance is relaxed and pleasant. and all of the staff that we have ever dealt with have been cheerful, friendly, and most gracious.

I am a fan of this chain. #9 sub … So yummy. Living in Midwest I don’t find a lot of places that are similar … I know I know everyone is gonna say cheesy beef … But to me it isn’t exactly the same. Call me weird, crazy or whatever. I love the steak and cheese from d’angelos … Every trip back east has at least 1 steak and cheese experience in it. Try it you will like it …

I’m not typically a huge fan of D’Angelos but this particular branch has kept me coming back for more. The restaurant is not set up like a deli in most of their other locations but instead set up like a pay at the counter bistro. They have finally ditched their ugly green bar stools and cheap counters for some booth seating and nice tables. The menu has changed a lot as well. The menu is the same at all the D’Angelos but the ingredients taste much fresher at this particular restaurant. They also have french fries and onion rings! The onion strings were much better than the rings they have now but the fries are still very crispy and tasty. The restaurant is constantly clean with associates cleaning the store almost every 5minutes. The soups are also good but very salty and the sirloin steak tip caesar salas is the best. I recommend checking this D’Angelo’s out if you are in Newburyport and want some sandwiches. It is far from your typical D’Angelos.
