I’ll throw my 5 star in review to match all the other for this fantastic independent toy store located right in Market Square. With a great location and the indy vibe that flows through downtown Newburyport, this place is filled with plushes, educational toys, joke and gag gifts, Legos, books, figurines and a ton more. You’re kid and you will have fun browsing around and supporting a local business. A must visit.

This place is cozy, cute and always has some great new toys or books that my kids can not walk away without. Newburyport is the mid-point between my home and my parents, so we often meet for lunch or dinner and walk around town a bit after. Dragon’s Nest has become a regular stop on our excursions. We were in a few weeks ago and my daughter picked out two books, while my mother helped my toddler son look at toys. He automatically choose the car toy that made noise(of course!) and we made our purchase for the day. Less than two weeks later the car just stopped worked, we changed the batteries, but no luck. My husband took it apart and figured out that the electrical connections were not«talking to eachother», so the toy was dead. I was just going to throw it away, but felt that it should have lasted longer for the price so I gave Dragon’s Nest a call. They called me back the same day, apologized and offered to send us a new car. The woman was very friendly and did not make me feel like an annoyance at all. Dragon’s Nest, you not only have great toys, but you also have great customer service. We will be back!

This is a wonderful place to shop for a unique gift for kids. Not your run of the mill big chain store. They pack a lot into this little store. A fun place to shop and the service is great.

I remember growing up in NBPT and looking forward to my birthday because that meant a gold coin and free gift from the Dragon’s Nest! I’m not sure if they do this anymore, but even if they don’t, what a gem. Some people complain about such places being too expensive and head over to Walmart or Toys R Us to get their kids toys, and that is unfortunate. One of the great things about Dragon’s Nest is the experience. It has been family owned for years(I’m lucky enough to know the family and grew up with the original owner’s daughter who now runs it), and they really care about the place. You can tell that a lot of thought and care goes into each purchase and placement of toys in their store, and it’s truly magical for both kids and adults alike to enter their world. So yes, maybe Dragon’s Nest is expensive and you don’t want to get ALL your kid’s toys from there, but it is a great place for special moments you want your children to remember. Almost 30 years later, I’m still a fan!

growing up in newburyport, the dragon’s nest was definitely the most exciting store downtown. this store welcomed children and invited them to play. these people are truly cultivators of young imaginations. once a year, you would get a magical $ 2 coin in the mail near your birthday. apart from being a genius marketing/promotion plan, this was so absolutely exciting to receive. it’s as if it were really truly gold — a treasure. i would hop right on my bike with my $ 2 coin and all of my allowance to pick something out. they had playmobile & legos, as well as dress-up, gund stuffed animals, and puzzles & games galore. i probably logged 1,000 hours in this store as a kid, and every one of them was magical. i visited this store years later as an adult and nothing had changed, in such a good way. what an amazing toy store.

Its always fun to explore a town and find a great new store you never knew about! This is the charm of the Dragon’s Nest! Enter a world where fantasy and imagination are the norm! Where children can dream of dragons and can watch their imaginations soar to new heights! There is something for every child at the Dragon’s Nest, and if you need help, the friendly staff will be at your disposal! From what I saw this is truly a hidden gem in the Boston /Seacoast area/NH…From what I saw they have a good selection of Thomas the Train items, Cars, Castle/Dragon/Middle ages type action figures/sets, Coloring books(downstairs), arts and crafts, baby toys, stuffed animals, kites, and much more. Also lots of small toys and it seems to be a great place for chirstmas stocking stuffers and birthday party favors. Check this store out! Great stop on the way back from the beaches… or on the way!!! The staff is unbelivably awesome!!!(Wickid Pissah) :) Enjoy your stay in the Dragon’s Nest!!! Raaaawwwrrrrrrr! Accepts — Visa, MCard, and some ATM cards, Cash, travellers checks.(not sure about regular checks, might want to ask or call). check the website for more info
