Friendly, personal service; great food! Accidentally left a birthday card at the table and server Sarah went rooting through the dumpster nearby at 10pm to help me find it! Awesome restaurant and staff.

Sabatino’s, I had so much faith in you and your overall 4 star review. However, the charming environment, the pleasant wait to be seated was quickly sabotaged by the lack of service and bland dishes. We arrived before the dinner rush and there were maybe two or three parties while we were there. Our server came to take our drink orders and disappeared. She came back and took our orders and brought us warmed French baguettes and butter after about 10 minutes. Once our order was in, it was a major waiting game. From the time the order was taken to the time it arrived on our table, I can estimate a wait of about 45 minutes to an hour. I understand that a wait is expected when there’s a lunch or dinner rush, but this was unacceptable when there were only a couple of small parties(2 – 4 guests) to serve. Nonetheless, our server never came back after she took our order to update us, or refill our waters, or check up on us. Once our food arrived, we all were disappointed in its lack of flavor, richness in the sauce. The only dish that was great was the pizza, which is pretty hard to mess up on. After my experience, it’s hard to find a motive to go out of the way to dine here in the future.

Solid Italian restaurant! Their sausage is a specialty and made in house. Good place for a large group. However, I wouldn’t come here if I were in a rush because the service can be on the slow side and it takes a while to get your food. The olive tapenade is fantastic! Comes with tasty warm bread as you sit down. It’s tempting not to fill up on this before you order! You can also order the olive tapenade to go and buy it as a quart or pint size, though I can’t remember the price on the top of my head. I’ve tried several dishes here. A couple of my favorites are the sizzling sausage platter, the stuffed pepper bell pepper with sausage and ricotta, and the rigatoni New York Gorgonzola. The portions are huge! So you can either take leftovers home or share with someone else. If you aren’t too hungry, the sausage stuffed zucchini appetizer is a small portion and good for a light eater. It’s somewhat difficult to find this place unless you already know where it is. That being said, it hasn’t gotten too busy during the few times that I’ve been here

We always have a great experience here. Food is delicious, staff are very attentive and the location is great too. My husband and I come here every now and then when we are in the neighborhood and it’s always a great time. Great place for kids too.

Had both dinner and breakfast. Had some stuffed mushrooms to get a taste of their sausage and they were excellent. Had one of the shrimp dishes, the sauce was spectacular. At breakfast I had the Sausage Chili Omelette and it was superb. The pancakes were very filling. The staff is very friendly even towards the end of a long day. I will return, especially for the breakfast items because there were several items that looked really good.

As we waited for a table, a slurring drunk gentleman and his friend were loud talking and acting kind of stupid with the 3 women they were with. When they go to seat their party, we notice the gentleman had peed his pants. It wasn’t a spill or something he sat in, it was obvious drunken urination all down his jeans. We point this out to the hostess(didn’t get her name. Young, thin, long straight blonde hair). She cringes but seats him anyway. He and his group must have been regulars. Our server, Kimberly, was decent but not extremely attentive. The kicker was that the pee pants guy got up to go walk around. Our server goes to their corner table and sits down in the seat of the guy with the wet pants… there had to be urine on his seat. She pours their wine and has a few sips herself. Then she’s back at our table touching things and all I can think is «does she have that guys pee on her hand?». It just kinda ruined the whole night watching a guy so inebriated he’d peed his jeans be served glass after glass of wine. The 3 star food doesn’t make up for dining 10 feet from a urine soaked patron.

Back for more Sabatino’s. Been too many times not to give them another try. This time was what I remember being so good about Sabatino’s. Outstanding brunch! Had the Sausage Benedict & Chili cheese omelet. Both perfectly prepared and delicious. Service was a little lacking, but up to speed at the end. And I’d love to know what bakery they use! The strawberry cake they had was amazing! Only complaint staff seems like they run out of steam a bit at the end of brunch service. Some buffet items were out(bread, gravy, strawberries) at 12:15, eventually they were refilled.

Absolutely a family friendly, wonderful Italian food experience. Sausage is their forte’. Order anything with sausage in it and you’ll be very happy! Peter Sabatino supports the community every chance he gets. It’s easy to give him our support! His authentic Chicago Italian is awesome!

The wise Unilocal master Dan H. has been trying to get me to come here for quite some time now. He describes it as the perfect afternoon, nice weather, quiet lunch spot. Finally the calendar aligned for us on some official bank holiday Monday in February. Off I went from my Northern OC digs, into the zoo that is Newport Beach. Traffic jams to the left of me, Construction to the Right, Here I am stuck in the middle of you… Sure enough, after driving through what looked like a private lot, where I had to get a pass, to park at their parking lot… I got what I was ready for… some peace and quiet, in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Newport. Is it scenic? Not really. It’s nestled in between a bunch of dry dock boats yards. But I think that may be the charm. Nobody is expecting a restaurant here. Dan told me at dinner the place gets packed. After all Sabatino’s has been here for 20 years. But lunch… perfecto!!! Walked right in got an outside table with just a few others, who were slowly sipping on a glass of vino. Of course you don’t come to a place that calls themselves a «Sausage Co.» without ordering the sausage. Got myself the sausage and peppers sandwich, which comes with sauce on the side for either slathering or dipping. You can get sweet or spicy, and I’m usually a spicy Italian sausage fan, but Dan recommended the Sweet Italian. Always go with the recommendation of someone you respect. He feels that the sweet Italian has so much flavor, that the heat of the spicy just covers it up. After tasting it, he might be right. It sure had lots of flavor. They stuff the sausage with an Italian goat milk cheese. It sure was tasty. What’s not to love about cheese inside a sausage link. They say the recipe has been in the Sabatino family since 1864, now that’s tried and true. It for sure passed my test. You can also get sausages to go to grill up at home. 4.5 stars Perhaps the most impressive thing I had was, a complimentary Olive tapenade that you could spread on their bread. I’m not normally a huge green olive fan. But this stuff is amazing and I could eat it all day. In fact we ate almost half the container on the table. 5 stars The only thing holding my review to 4 stars here, was my daughter’s pasta was undercooked(and I don’t mean al dente) and the meatballs were 4 stars. They did have a little spice to them that was nice. I’m sure if I came back to try other things(and I will) I may up my review to 5 stars. Sabatino’s is definitely on my radar for some sausage links and olive tapenade to go. Or if I just need a moment’s peace and quiet at lunchtime in Newport.

Their hand made sausage is to die for. Lean, succulent, full of flavor. You can get hot or mild, and I actually think I prefer the mild. Their sausage and peppers entrée is the best pick for those like me who are watching their carb intake. The bread basket looked amazing, but I did not cave. Saturdays and sundays they have a champagne brunch for $ 28.95…when I am off my diet challenge I think a few mimosas are in order! I stayed away from their pasta, but tasted the marinara sauce… omg so rich and delicious!

The food is still excellent but the service is seriously slacking. I was here a few weeks ago with a couple girlfriends and our poor server had the entire patio which was packed. It’s possible he was the only server for the inside too. We had to go inside to grab our own menus and flag him down for service. He was very sweet but everything took incredibly too long.

Food was good. Sausage, pasta rolls are the best. The olive top non is famous and can be purchased to go by the pint or quart. The service is pretty slow but friendly and helpful

If you like sausage this place is for you. They make their own here, and it’s really good. Try their stuffed bell peppers. Those are so good! I tried a couple other items, but always default to what I mention above. I like that they have a deli section that you can take a variety of their menu items home. I always end up buying more links for another time. The large front patio is nice.

Super cute Italian place. Lots of character. Homemade sausages are the BEST! We got half hot, half mild. Both very good. We shared a Greek salad which was good, platter fed 4 of us. We also got the sausage ravioli which came with 3 sauces, very good! Chicken parm was also very good. The only thing that I didn’t really like was the bread. It was just like store bought, spongy bread. Also, we got the pasta roll and it was basically sausage and pasta, very dry. I would recommend this place!

So for the record I think the service sucked. We waited at the hostess stand for almost 3 min. The staff walked by us and didn’t even say hello or welcome or we will be right with you. Nothing! Then after we sat down it took forever to get a glass of water. We had to ask three times. The reason for the 5 stars is because the food was amazing. There was four of us and we each ordered something different. My sausage plate was awesome, my wife’s stuffed red pepper was incredible and the stuffed shells were so good that grandma said she will get it again. So I hope the owner reads his Unilocal reviews because the service sucked but his food was AMAZING! We will be back because of the food, sincerely my compliments to the chef! P. S. If you’re reading my Unilocal review and you have never been here before I recommend that you go here ASAP!
