This place has been disappointing time and time again. The«breakfast burrito» has no meat whatsoever in it, and is stuffed with whole potatoes to make it look bigger. And it’s served with a side of the exact same potatoes. Ridiculously overpriced and filled with cheap ingredients. The«cinnamon roll» is not baked there, it’s taken out of a(probably Costco) package and wrapped in saran wrap and warmed if requested. The fact that they don’t use fresh food and ingredients is so blatantly obvious I am surprised they are still in business. It’s such a shame that they take advantage of the location to sell overpriced food and underdeliver on taste and quality.

Delicious beachside diner faire! I’ve been here two different occasions for breakfast and had overall a nice experience. Especially my Sunday visit which brunch anywhere else is usually mobbed but here wasn’t too bad of a wait and who can complain when your toes are in the sand. Food was hearty, tasty and good portions for the price. Nothing to fancy but still delicious. My only advice is to not feed the birds like I did or even drop too much food on the ground because most likely it will lead to a bird feeding frenzy. My go to for a relaxing outdoor eating experience!

This place is great for breakfast! Their breakfast burritos are killer and huge. And they give a giant side of potatoes so it is definitely a place for carb day! I have also had the omelet, which was pretty good. There is usually a line out the door, but you can call ahead and have your food ready when you get there. The prices are reasonable, probably a little pricey, but you’re on the sand in Newport so it should be expected.

Showed up at 7:45 am to grab a coffee and a bagel before work and the cook said he was still waiting for the waitress to come in(they open at 7:30). I didn’t have a half hour to wait around for the waitress to arrive and make coffee so I left. This morning I wasted ½ hr walking there and back and will still need to stop again on the way to work. Very unprofessional

Nice location but this is just one more example of a restaurant on the water that doesn’t need to try too hard with the menu. It’s just sufficient. French toast was nothing special.

The most friendly and engaging staff on the Newport Beach boardwalk, hands down!(Ask for Kayla — has one of those smiles that just wont quit!) Whether your digging your toes into the sand solo to enjoy a fresh smoothly or catching up w old friends over their famous burritos(not for the feint of heart), there’s no better place to grab a true taste of Newport Beach, CA! Locally owned and managed, don’t visit this charming beach community w/out swinging through Stuft Surfer for a genuine, local taste of Newport.

First off way to pricey for costco food. They have so much stuff on the menu that nothing is very good. They need to pick a few things and stick to it and make it good so they are at least known for something good because it is a great location. There food is fine for tourist but not a good local spot where you know you can go on the slower seasons and get good food which sucks.

Delicious, quick breakfast with big portions and you can sit at a picnic table with your toes in the sand, staring at the ocean. Best way to start a day.

Labor Day weekend. Way too many people out here. The girl working the counter had major RBF. Sure it was hot and some of the customers were difficult!, but don’t give the rest of the customers stink face. $ 6.50 for a hot dog. $ 6 for a smoothie. Picnic tables on the sand out front. Crossing the boardwalk from the tables to the pickup window on a busy weekend can feel like a game of Frogger. No other eateries within a few blocks on the boardwalk.

This is the best hidden gem in Newport and HB area for a real, beach breakfast. It’s simplistic with the picnic tables but still offers great customer service and food. Personally, the French toast is my favorite and even with several people in my group, we have always had great experiences. The to go window on the side is perfect for beach goers who are simply walking on the boardwalk.

The worst service(I’m sorry that you have to take the time away from your iPhone to take my order you stupid moron), nastiest burgers(ONLY cooked well done? Why? and on stale buns?), nachos(no sour cream, jalapeños and smothered with the same chili cheese as on their pale hot dogs and with chopped up Tyson’s chicken?!?) Barf city. Sorry I got stuck eating here because there is NOTHING even close by. Maybe that’s why they’ve been here since 1963. Stupid stoned surfers. Once you’ve crawled out of the piss soaked public restrooms perhaps this looks like a gift from god. More like Satan’s lair of grossness.

I know they’re busy on a Saturday, but it’s not what I remembered when I went in high school/college. –Food took over 45 minutes from when we ordered. –Messed up my wife’s order. I said hamburger with everything, including onion. It came with only onion. She took it back, they said they’d add lettuce, tomato, thousand island etc. Forgot lettuce still. –Fries didn’t have any of that tasty seasoning they used to put on it; though they still mention it on the menu. -$ 20 plus seemed much for 2 burgers and fries. It’s sad because I used to come here all the time, but the last two visits weren’t the same.

Awful experience twice in 3 days. 1st time it took 1 hr to make a veggie sandwich with tomato, avacado, cheese and sprouts. When we finally decided to ask when our number would be called, the woman with the foreign accent just tossed our food over the counter in a bag and said«here». Thought we would give it another try on Monday thinking the place wouldn’t be so busy, but I was disappointed once again. What a cluster over there. Waste of money.

Cute little spot on the beach! Love riding my beach cruiser along the beach and stopping in for breakfast! But get here before noon if you want breakfast food!!!

Really good spot to pick up hangover food on a Saturday or Sunday to bring back to the house and eat. The French fries and hamburgers a really good it reminds me of the old Froster’s Freeze.

Location is awesome. Tables set out in the sand. Food was just OK. I ordered the breakfast burrito. For some reason, not a bit of meat in it, so I was disappointed somewhat. Service was very quick, even though it seemed pretty busy. It wouldn’t take much for them to improve the food a bit and get a bunch of 5-Star ratings. The prices were acceptable, considering their location right on the beach.

Stuft Surfer, we have a love-hate relationship! My boyfriend’s parents rented a beach house in Newport for seven days and the Stuft Surfer was literally a less than five minute walk from the front door of the house to the entrance of this little café. Since we didn’t have coffee at the house, I made my way over here every morning for a cup of coffee and twice for breakfast. Coffee was decent and cheap at $ 2 – 3 depending on what size you got(small or large). They’d even make you Iced Coffee, even though it wasn’t on the menu… love it! I got coffee here every morning. Amazing! The days I wasn’t hurrying off to work and had more time, I ordered breakfast here(which happened to be twice). Be forewarned that breakfast will take, on average, 15 – 20 minutes to come out, even if they aren’t that busy(one of the times I ordered breakfast it was a weekday and there was only one other person in front of me)! I ordered the breakfast burrito combo, which came with potatoes and a coffee, both times I ate here($ 7 plus tax). I must say that their food is pretty solid. They are also right on the beach. Literally, they are. Their picnic tables are ONTHESAND. What a view! Loved it! I love the convenience of the Stuft Surfer, the friendly staff, the coffee, the food and the location. What I didn’t like is the wait for food, which kind of put a damper on things. I definitely wouldn’t have been happy if I was in a hurry to go somewhere and I ordered food from here. Plus, their Debit/Credit Card machine was broken one morning we went in… so we had to leave and go get cash after ordering just to pay. Frustrating! I’d most likely come back here again! Cheers!

It was February of this year when I complained to a friend in upstate New York that we’d not had any rain, that the skies were perpetually blue, that I was tired of wearing tank tops and flip flops. Despite this, we’ve remained friends. Beach-going is pretty much a year-round activity down in Orange County so you may as well embrace it. Stuft Surfer sits right along the boardwalk with tables in the sand, making it somewhat irresistible. For every 3 days I bike by I stop in about once. It’s the epitome of a greasy spoon but those tables in the sand make up for it. If you’re hosting an out-of-town guest from an area without hospitable weather you might casually take them here to rub sand in the wounds. Show ‘em what you’ve got that they don’t. Breakfast fare is the thing I’d recommend and you should plan to eat it during breakfast hours, preferably during a quick break in your morning beach stroll or roll. Don’t set out for the place; stumble upon it mid-walk. It’s really not a «destination». Order inside, take a table on the sand, slip off your flip flops and burrow your toes in the cool sand. Bicycle parking is right beside the tables. Decent public restrooms are right beside that. Eggs are good, potatoes too, but that sourdough toast was not. No matter, you’ll be eating again in a couple of hours. This was just a little something-something to get you through your morning. I guarantee there’s nothing like it in upstate New York in December.

I’ve been here before to buy a cup Of ice but never to eat. Today’s last minute beach trip didn’t allow me to pack a picnic so I was hoping to find somethin good. My friend ordered the club with sourdough & I got the pastrami on rye. She was nice Enough to share half her Sammie so I could taste it. I didn’t like it. It was so so. But my pastrami came just the way I like it. Tender and juicy meat, lots of mustard and pickles. It was pretty hearty. We also shared the gigantic brownie which was best when left on my towel in the sand to melt a lil. It was good all in all. $ 15 for our sandwiches alone, no sides. $ 2.73 after tax for the brownie.
