Great service Seating is not the most spacious but cozy Lamb Curry was tender and flavorful Their grilled plate seemed popular Dosa is huge and we got the paper thin one based on server recommendation Pretty good!

This is my second time dining here. I only come here because my friends(for some reason I don’t understand) choose to come here. They take 30 minutes + to get drinks to the table and then another 30 minutes to take orders. We had one refill on our bottomless mimosas.(It comes with the $ 20 bland meals) they forget all modifications on food, and when you ask for sides of ketchup, mustard, ranch, etc…, it’s another 10 – 15 minutes before you get it. They forgot to ring in my beer and forgot to cook my friends burger. They don’t split checks. They serve cost-co muffins. And… The fruit was brown. They force 18% gratuity on 5% service. It’s probably not even the servers. Management must be horrible. Owners must not care. Beware!

The best thing about this place is that I got a great discount through Groupon. This place was YUCK!!! Crab cakes were mealy. Fish and chips were soooo bland I might as well sucked the potato itself. Someone must have told them to «hold» the seasoning because they did. My 13 year old son who eats whatever you put before him(except beans) did not care for this food. He had a hamburger his comment ‘it was alright’. The only thing that interested him the entire evening was the waitress in the Daisy Dukes. I think waitress’ were shorter than Daisy’s. I haven’t mentioned the shirt she had tied up and just enough for her name badge if she wore one. I was embarrassed for the couple she was serving. The guy couldn’t help but look at her boobs because it was more of them than clothing. I guess she was dressed like that because of the inside bar and the need for tips. Seriously, I would not recommend or go to this place. The waitress that served us(in a regular waitress uniform) said everyone there in the patio area were using Groupons. Maybe the regular know what to order. But when you can’t cook fish and chips with grains of salt and the crab cake has no identifiable crab meat it’s hard to recommend the place even at the Groupon rate. I paid $ 17 for my groupon and I felt that was a waste. Sorry Woody’s but you get two thumbs down. Review from visit on 4÷29÷16

Food is great here and so is the service. I recently ordered their nachos and they’re amazing! You can definitely share them with a group of people. The bartenders are nice, and if you have a Duffy boat, you can park it right outside the restaurant which is very convenient. They also have a Sunday brunch in which they give you a ton of food and unlimited mimosas for two hours.

Came here on a Thursday with my friends on my day off. We randomly stopped in because I saw a free chowder for checking in. The soup was amazing. I also had a wedge salad, really good and added clams and mussels. Everything was delicious. To top it off we found out it was half off wine bottles on Thursdays, so this was a plus. Brea was our server on the patio. She was friendly and attentive. We then went to the bar and Andy took care of us. Awesome view!

I’ve been there maybe once when they had a groupon deal a few years ago. Surprisingly, their service and food was much better last time that I decided to go back tonight. Ok. Let me start on their service and food solely from tonight. I thought it was nice of them that they served my food with chopsticks because I had ordered something that had fish and rice in it. Maybe they assumed that I’d prefer using chopsticks over forks because I was Asian. Fyi, the dish wasn’t even sushi. Who eats fried rice with chopsticks? Furthermore, they were offering complimentary bread and butter on every single table. except my table; my boyfriend and I were the only Asians there. I asked the server about it and she said they give bread and butter if a customer asks for it first. Could it pass as a coincidence that I heard a server asking if a customer wanted a free bread and butter? I’ve never been treated so poorly in any other restaurants and I don’t understand what’s with their attitude because it’s your service that determines the amount of tip, not my ethnic background. Also, usually tge Maybe I shouldn’t come back anymore and just move on. Usually I tip 20% or more. I try to stay humble as much as possible. I just don’t think the way I treated was fair.

Thought we would try this place and bought a Groupon. It was happy hour, and towards the expiration date and I think everyone else decided to use theirs too, because it was Very busy. We had a long wait if we wanted a table, so decided to sit at the bar. The restaurant has a nice view of the water. I ordered the grilled fish tacos and they were awful and inedible. The worse tacos I ever had. The fish was dry and hard! The flavor was bland. The beef kabobs were dry, and over cooked. The burger was dry and bland and had something added to it like oats or something. I would give this place 1 star for food… but, the bartender was so nice, friendly and quick, that I will give this review 2 stars. The beers were cold. at least we had that to enjoy! Overall, a huge disappointment. I will not be back.

BF loves this place made a reservation for Sunday brunch. It was pretty packed when we arrived. We waited a few minutes then were seated at a great table right by the window. That was nice We had great views of the boats docking at the slip along with canoes and paddle boarders. We wait for someone to come over to take our order. Waiting waiting waiting. BF says no problem we’re not in a rush, but I’m thinking big problem. 20 minutes later a really nice server came over and said that she didn’t know who’s table it was but she noticed that we’d been waiting a while. She took our order brought us some champagne. I ordered the crab Benedict. It was just ok. BF ordered the salmon egg scramble over a bagel. The bagel was too bready. Eggs were just ok. Still sitting waiting for refills of water, coffee, champagne. Ambiance 4⁄5 total beach scene laid back vibe Service 2.5÷5 the server who took our order was fantastic but who was our actual waiter? Value 3⁄5 not pricey but nothing great for your money Food 2⁄5 Restrooms 3.5÷5 BF loves it here but I don’t think I’ll be coming back with him

Tried this spot with a recommendation for prime rib, but unfortunately they were not serving it that day. My friend told me they have it as a one day special, but you can order it any other day for a higher price. On this particular day that want the case. Our server didn’t seem to eager to serve us, and was also clearly unwilling to accommodate us. It’s fine that they can’t serve is what they don’t normally offer, but I do appreciate service with a smile. It’s rare that I experience poor service, so this is really unfortunate. As far as the food goes, it’s not bad. The ribeye I ordered rare was medium rare. When I asked the server how steak tends to cook here, she simply said it was cooked how I ask. The tacos were okay, they could use a little more flavoring, and the salsa was bland. I don’t think that the price I paid was worth what I got, and the service was unpleasant. Probably not going to return, and not a place I would recommend.

Really wish we hadn’t wasted our time here. Went up to the valet– it’s valet only BTW– and the guy took our car. fine. we walk up the the place and there are a lot of people waiting. fine, no problem. that’s to be expected for a saturday night. i get up to the hostess(short girl, dark blonde, wish i had caught her name) and let her know i would like a table for 4. she rudely says, «Do you have a reservation?» I say, «No, i do not.» «well we are no longer taking walk in’s tonight.» and that was it. wtf is wrong with you? who says that? So i tell her that she needs to let the valet know that because he just happily took our car. she rolled her eyes and turned away. i have done her job, and that is not how a hostess should be acting. they are the first person a customer speaks with and she should be friendly at the very least. We ended up stalking these people in the bar for their table because i guess they are seat yourself. there were a ton of open tables in the restaurant btw, it was appalling to see how empty the place was considering there was a line out the door. i’m not kidding you when i say it took 30 minutes for someone to come by to greet us. I wanted to leave so badly but my dad is disabled so its hard for him to walk very far, even with his cane. we were stuck. I’m not even mad at our server. this poor girl was all alone on all of the bar tops, the boats outside, and i believe she had tables in the dining room as well. ATTNMANAGERS– WTFISWRONGWITHYOU– HIRESOMEMOREPEOPLE! seriously such a damn pet peeve. we ordered some appetizers and it was all gross. the ahi was bland, the shrimp were literally so overcooked they tasted like chicken, and sliders were okay i guess… my clam chowder tasted like it came out of a can… the whole experience was atrocious. trust me, there are SO many good restaurants all around this place– do not waste your time here. horrendous service, horrendous food… no thanks!

First time here and probably will not be back. Originally I got a coupon and tried to use it on a Wednesday night arrived at 9 pm to find out that the kitchen was closed at 9 pm but the restaurant is open till 10. So much for my dinner. I go back on Saturday for brunch and find out that brunch is not included on the coupon. We sit down at a table by a window in the back room and it’s so loud I can’t hear my friend. We ended up relocating inside to a corner booth. The food was fine I have no complaints for the food but the service was very shallow. Our waitress was only half there. We are waiting 15 minutes for her service another 10 minutes for a check The parking is really bad you have to valet if you want anything close to the restaurant. It’s just a bad location on a crowded street

We are off to a rough start here at Woody’s wharf. A long time to wait for a table when clearly they had tables available(see pictures). Once seated a terrible amount time to get our drink ordered. They brought bread but we had to ask twice for utensils and napkins so we could spread our butter. We been here 30 minutes and we haven’t even had a chance to order appetizers. Holy smokes — not looking forward to this evening when it started with so much promise. So they delivered the buffalo wings and they were C O L D… They returned it and brought out clam chowder instead(Upon my request). GREAT clam chowder. Hope the Paella is just as good. UPDATE: well — the Paella was T E R R I B L E… Tasted like Minute Rice with a bunch of fish thrown in top. I am not a picky eater but am not paying the price they charge for their Paella. Wife’s filet was good(which I ended up sharing). This was to be a big night out for us and ended being a shin buster…

Sticker shock. The Sunday food menu is on the expensive side for the portion size. Double digit sliders – really? That aside, the food is good(but not Michelin starred or anything) and the atmosphere can be good, so perhaps that’s what you’re paying for? There is a lot of competition with the other Newport eateries and American Junkie right next door. I see Woody’s is still trying to fit in with the Newport crowd, but I think they need to find what they want to be known for.

My friends and I have frequented Woody’s for years because of their complimentary bottomless champagne brunch… However, the past two times that I’ve been here for brunch I’ve noticed that the service has been going downhill. The brunch has never been anything special, good but not extraordinary besides the crab and lobster brunch entrees. But we kept coming back for the good time! Unfortunately, the workers now take forever to check on you… It takes forever to get your order taken or anything that you ask for. Service was super slow and everyone around you is super ratchet so it’s not a place where you want to find yourself hangry. Will I be back? Probably but I’ll definitely have to drink enough mimosas to make me not mind the bad service and loud drunkies.

We celebrated My Birthday today during Brunch overlooking the Newport Harbor. Saturday brunch was super busy, but well worth the wait. Our Server gave us tasty recommendations along with Great Service. Nothing like Bottomless Mimosas. I recommend making reservations for large parties ahead of time.

This is always my go-to place for brunch. The pitchers of mimosas are dangerous and the food is amazing. This place fills up pretty quickly though, so I would recommend getting their early or making a reservation. You can also get more drinks at the bar as well. The view is also amazing with great views of the bay !

This is my second time writing a review while still at the place of business due to experiencing horrible service. We’ve been here for about an hour and our waitress stopped by only once. Totally unacceptable in my opinion. She did make it a bit better toward the end but the damage was done. The rest of the staff was friendly. Food was good. The crab cakes were the best out of all the items we ordered. The salmon and crispy fish tacos were ranked in that order. Will we be back? Probably not.

All I’d known about Woody’s prior to meeting some friends here was that it was a total old man bar where Dennis Rodman used to hang out. Believe it or not, the man himself walked in on my very first visit, lol. They haven’t made any attempt to «modernize,» which is kind of nice – it’s unassuming and comfortable in there. The servers have always been very friendly and helpful, and the drinks are uncomplicated and relatively cheap. I’ve only had beers here so can’t comment on their food or cocktails, but I imagine they’re pretty decent as well. Anyhoo, I’m glad that this part of Old Newport is still around, hearkening back to its more humble, salty origins. STEPHJUDGEMENT: A hoary stalwart on Newport Blvd, much like its patrons.

We check out Unilocal to try to figure out if a place is worth our time and money. I’m going to humbly encourage you to check out the pictures of Woody’s Wharf, then make up your own mind. My experiences here usually involve drinking on weekend afternoons. It’s crowded, and they have at least one decent beer on tap. Sometimes Dan H. is there, sometimes he isn’t. Sometimes The Worm makes an appearance, sometimes he doesn’t. They show sports on the TVs, and horse racing still counts as a sport here. Look. Look at those pictures. That Waterfront Weekend Champagne Brunch could be good. If that’s your kind of thing, check it out. How about prime rib dinners? Not for me, but here it is. I don’t know why you would want to eat a live Maine lobster in CA, but on Tuesdays they are $ 19.95. Night scene? I think I was here once for that. I don’t handle crowds very well. Happy hour? I’ll try that someday. Maybe not during tourist season, though. I forget if they have a dock here. I can tell you that there is no bike rack. Vegetarians? Sorry; you had better eat before you come. Someone should come up with an abbreviation for that. YHBEBYC?

Woody’s is a solid 3-star place, even though sometimes it teeters along the line of «meh» and«sure, it’s OK.» I’ve been here a couple times before yesterday and only on Sundays for their bottomless mimosa specials and brunch, so I can’t comment on their after hours scene. Came back yesterday for a girlfriend’s birthday brunch. Reservations are recommended if you have a large party, which we did at about 25 people. To be seated with the start of your two-hour time limit, at least 60% of your party needs to be in attendance. Makes sense. Grab a drink while you’re waiting – mimosas for everyone! We were seated out in the patio and our party was split into two tables. We still had an OK view of the water, but only if we stood up. Umbrellas were set up everywhere to shield everyone from the sun. The brunch menu is not unusual or spectacular, but they serve you with very hearty portions. I ordered a salmon scramble with a toasted bagel, which also comes with a side of «fries»(half slices of potatoes – no complaints) and fruit. My meal cost $ 17.95(not including tax or gratuity). Service was very nice and attentive, bathrooms were… small, but not messy. Whew! Parking — valet, $ 4. I recommend it because if you’ve been to Newport, you know that parking’s a nightmare. I don’t come to Newport for brunch often, but when I do, Woody’s Wharf is usually the first place that’ll come to mind.

Is-may-el was our server. I don’t know how to spell his name but he gave us such an excellent experience. Combined with the spectacular food that came out wrong(he corrected it), bottomless champagne, and delicious bread that came out initially(pumpkin and poopy seed muffins) I had such a good time! Would definitely come again for bottomless champagne brunch. Champagne/mimosas is included in the brunch entrée price. Although, it was a tad irritating we couldn’t get the table closest to the water because it was just two of us. Literally after rush hour brunch time I saw the table completely empty throughout the whole duration we were there and a couple finally sat there. And we couldn’t sit there because??? Negative one star for not so good customer service on the hostess end.
