I had been trying to find the spice sumac, we had traveled to Williamsburg with no luck. This place carried sumac. Very happy to find it at a reasonable price. The store was very well laid out, clean and had mid eastern authentic items. But now that I have a LOT of Sumac I need more recipes to use it.

Found what I was looking for(bulk coriander seed & chamomile tea). Staff was helpful. I will return, hopefully they have the Chana Dahl(aka Bengal Gram Dahl) that Laura wants and Quinoa for less than $ 5/lb.

Please don’t bother going to this place, they sell insect/pest eaten food n addition to selling bug infested grains the owner will yell at you for complaining, this establishment is a disgrace and is no where indian owned and operated. They will also not honor prices on articles they sell. Will never go here again. Owner writes their own reviews hence the stellar 5 star reviews

After a disappointing trip to E-mart where they couldn’t accommodate half the spices I needed for Murgh Makhani(Butter Chicken), I was relieved to discover Anand Bazaar. The store is small but compacted with many essential ingredients for Indian cuisine. Had I known that it was a one-stop shop, I would have made most of my purchases here rather than getting items from all over town. Walking into the store you’ll notice how clean, organized, and narrow it is. On your left you’ll find refrigerated stocks of Naan and dairy items. Following the path leads to an extension of the store for dry goods and jewelries, all the spices as well as an impressive selection of basmati rice brands. The only ingredient they didn’t seem to offer was Kashmiri chili powder. Walking along the middle of the store you’ll find fresh green chillies and a limited but essential array of vegetables. Further along you’ll find shelves focused on Middle Eastern ingredients and as you reach the back you’re treated to a delightful surprise of freshly butchered lamb, whole chickens(with heads), and goat meat. I felt oddly out of place, why wasn’t anyone else jumping for joy? This place is an exciting gem and epic discovery! The staff are helpful and eager to help you find what you need. As I checked out, I noticed posters on the wall advertising their gyros and other foods. I’m assuming they sell hot food as well? If so, I’ll be coming back regardless. This place has cemented itself as my go-to for most of my Indian spice needs. If you’re ever eating breakfast at IHOP, check this place out!

I was wanting to stock up on basic Indian spices, so with my long list in hand, I trekked over to E-mart. No luck! E-mart had packaged curries and chutneys, but not the cook-from-scratch essentials. I asked a couple of Indian friends where they shopped, and they both directed me to Anand Bazaar. One of them offered to accompany me. First impression; organized! Now, I don’t really know what organization system they used, but all of their goods were neatly lined on shelves and the flow of the store was nice. It looked pretty clean, as well. It didn’t take long for me to find all of the spices and ingredients on my list, and the prices were great. Anand Bazaar carried mainly South Asian(i.e. Indian, Pakistani) staples, but also had a decent selection of Middle Eastern foods. There were also saris, costume jewelry, and other general merchandise for sale. The nice lady working the register was originally from Bangladesh, but spoke perfect English and answered a few questions we had about the store and its goods. Anand Bazaar will definitely be my first stop whenever I need spices, naan/roti, and other Indian goodies.
